I am a frequent customer at the Ross location in Tarzana, CA, and this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. On 5/20/2026, I went in regarding a damaged cleaning bucket I purchased for $6.99 after one of the wheels detached almost immediately. I simply wanted help exchanging a defective item. Unfortunately, the two female employees assisting at registers 1 and 2, one manager Elvia, was extremely rude, dismissive, impatient, and repeatedly interrupted me while I tried explaining the situation. Elvia's behavior as a manager was especially disappointing. Her tone, attitude, and lack of professionalism escalated the situation instead of helping resolve it respectfully. I asked for her name and she acted as if she wanted to hit me. This will be reported to the Ross Consumer Complaints. I was treated with suspicion over a simple exchange request and made to feel like I was the problem. The interaction upset me so much that I later went home to search for the receipt, which I was able to find. As someone with a disability, the treatment was especially upsetting. Customers deserve patience, courtesy, and professionalism regardless of the dollar amount involved. Very disappointed with how this situation was handled. This store was not helpful at all when I asked this male cashier to remove a security lock attached to the clothes I got from a different store. I didn't I realized that the store where I got this item didn't remove the security lock. I showed him the receipt and he told me it didn't match the tag so he didn't remove the security lock. How would I know the receipt didn't match the tag when I bought it? I don't know how that happened? He wasn't friendly at all and I felt like he was questioning my integrity. He could have said it in a more respectful manner. I left the store feeling so badly and I ended up throwing the item I bought from the other store because it would cost me more in gas to go to the store I bought it from. I only happened to be in the area when I purchased it two weeks ago. I went to this store in Tarzana to ask them to remove the security lock as it was closer to home. Ross is a gem! One of my favorite stores. If you're not shopping at Ross what are you doing? I purchased pillows tonight for an amazing deal but I've bought everything here. Comforters, rugs, clothing, shoes. This store is one of the few places not to inflate their prices. This Tarzana location is nice and chill. Since it's in a smaller strip mall I love shopping here cause it's easier to get in and out. I've bought HOKA, Adidas, Ralph Lauren and more big brands at Ross. This Ross is one of our favorites to go visit. Off of Tampa Ave & Ventura Blvd. (conveniently next to the 101 freeway), this particular Ross has always been clean whenever we've went. A big plus is that since it's a little tucked away, it's less frequented by others. The selection is what you make of it, but we've always found stuff for cheap but not cheaply made. The employees have been friendly to us and helped us look at jewelry no hassle whenever we want to buy a little something nice. This Ross is honestly slept on but I'm not one to complain about more space! Definitely beats other bigger ones where you're shoulder-to-shoulder down every aisle! read more

I recently returned a hair dryer to your Tarzana store that I had purchased the day before. The packaging claimed it used ceramic technology, but upon opening, I discovered the dryer was made of plastic. I also had difficulty fitting the cable back into the box, so I politely asked the cashier for assistance. Unfortunately, she responded with an unpleasant attitude. She immediately took issue with a tear in the box, which had old Scotch tape on it. I bought the item in this condition, and tape doesn't deteriorate in just one day. I explained this, and her response was a dismissive with a "Yeah, RIGHT." I was surprised by this behavior and asked for clarification, but she ignored me. She told me if she wanted , she could not accept the return because the cable was sticking out of the box, and the box was broken, as though I were a child being reprimanded by a teacher. As a regular Ross customer and an adult, I mentioned that her tone was inappropriate and implied I was lying. Her response was, "Well, yes. And you're not my boss, are you?" She then grabbed a pair of shoes I was also returning and, with clear frustration, asked, "THESE TOO?" Her attitude was unnecessarily rude throughout. I asked for her name, and she provided what I believe was "Ileana," but refused to give her last name. She then put her hand inside my purse that was open on the counter in front of me, placed my receipt into my open wallet inside my purse, like REALLY? I politely said that was a bit inappropriate. She responded, "I DON'T CARE." Ok this is just ridiculous. While I understand everyone has bad days, this level of rudeness and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I asked to speak with the manager, who was also a young girl who looked at me like she was falling asleep, bored with what I was reporting, and offered a brief "I'm sorry," . I honestly never experienced this level of disrespect in ANY store. I have to admit that the store in an of itself was rundown, and empty of customers, and after these interactions one can only wonder why. I am writing this review today to share my horrible experience at Ross in the Tarzana location on 11/19/24 at 5:18pm. First upon walking up the cashier she was chewing gum very loudly and with a rude attitude. I wanted to get the 10% discount for my brother in law and I but she refused to give it to my brother in law with a very rude and nasty attitude. She also had no name badge on so I asked for her name and she also refused to give that to me, also asked the loss prevention at the door and he also said he could not give me any name which is ridiculous because every employee needs to have a name badge. I've been coming to this store for years but after this experience I will no longer be going back to shop there and I am going to make sure to share this story with my friends and family and ensure none of them will go shopping there ever again. I have been going to this location since I was a kid and a lot has changed since then. The last time I went to the Ross in Tarzana was last summer when I was looking for gift bags and some stationary as a present. It was very hot outside and inside the store the AC. Out of concern, I had asked the cashier how they were working in without an AC in hot weather. Her response "Well you can always go to another Ross.". Not the response, I was anticipating at all. I brushed it off and left. Yesterday, I visited this location in hopes to find two bowls for serving . I also ended up grabbing a pair of house slippers. The cashier was not very nice. I told her to split up the items into two different bags because I didn't want the slippers to be with the bowls. She didn't listen. What she did do was provide a snarky "Good answer." when she has asked me if I wanted to donate to a charity as well as round up my change. Its my choice whether or not I want to make a donation and at the moment I decided I didn't want to, having already made a donation to the same organization at a different store. I didn't appreciate her carelessness and response. Even if you don't agree with my answer or how I like things being bagged, you should keep that to yourself. You don't have to show your disgust straight up like that. I really hope that the employees at this location are properly trained how to provide exceptional customer service. Always manage to find some good deals and items here no matter what the occasion... the parking lot is pretty spacious but does fill up during the weekend and after 5 most days. I always manage to find a rare clearance item or a tucked away rare find here that's practically a steal. Great place to get new workout gear as well as a practical outfit or two... not to mention quality bedding and bathroom items. One of my favorite places to find unique scented candles and knicknacks for decor. Really great season selections in all departments that go fast.... prefer this location to the one in Reseda and most other in the LA Valley area. read more

Please please please please please shut down this location now that there is another Ross location in Encino 2 miles away! I've been here a handful of times and will NEVER come back. It's dark, it's dirty, the whole place needs a paint job and a facelift both inside and out. Really makes the whole shopping center look old and gross. The owner clearly doesn't care about the customer experience. The shoe rack is sometimes half empty and the clothes racks are often unorganized - like the employees just put back items without any care to the proper size. But the worst part? It's the only clothing store in Tarzana/Woodland Hills /Encino area where they treat you like a criminal from the moment you enter the store. The security guard stares you up and down, checks your bag if you have a big purse and they count and recount the number if items you bring into the dressing room - like you're planning on stealing stuff. Cameras everywhere. Its SUPER insulting and not up to this area's standard customer experience. Do they realize that they are located amongst million dollars homes? Its not the type of store we need here. Oh, and the dressing rooms? A total disaster also. Not clean, dark, lots of clothes hangers everywhere. The cashiers are never friendly, rush you through and don't even let you bring the carts out to the lit. Even when you've purchased large bulky items. Crazy. Please SFV residents - hear this call! This specific location is sort of messy compared to some of the other nearby ones in the valley, but it is still cleaner and more organized than so many other ones in LA area. This location is ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED. Not only does it have hardly any selection or stock, no mirrors, and an extremely odd layout. It closes whenever it feels like it. It has no set hours. They WILL close fitting rooms and refuse to remove security tags pretty much anytime past 8 despite being "open til 10". Lady shopping by me put back several pairs of shoes and a $160 coach purse and left because they wouldn't find the anti-theft tag remover for the bag. I stood outside the fitting room for 20 minutes at 9:15 waiting for someone until at 9:41- they told me they were closed, despite supposedly being OPEN UNTIL 10PM. I myself was going to buy shoes, 5 pairs of work pants, and two blouses- plus my husband had things, and we set it all down and walked out. They literally lost $$$ within TWENTY MINUTES of being open due to their trash attitudes. This is also my SECOND time I've had issues with them, last time they were refusing to refund an UNOPENED, tags still on, non-used item with a receipt LESS THAN 48 HOURS old, which is why I finally wrote this review. read more

The mistake was that I didn't blend that the checkout will take 25 minutes!!! This is way more than I'm willing to accept. So my friend was waiting for me more than 15 minutes. I was in town this past week visiting family and stopped in to do some unnecessary shopping for entertainment. I found some cute BCBG workout pants in blue and black. They were a great find and so cute! My reason for my review was the lack of AC. It was so hot! The front doors were open and employees were sweating. As a customer, I don't want to be sweating while shopping. I didn't stay long. I will say they were strictly following COVID guidelines by monitoring occupancy, making sure customers were wearing masks and fitting rooms were unavailable. The Sunday manager, shahnaz, just really doesn't have a knack for customer service, neither does she have any business accumen. I bought a $60 home camera security system that I needed to return because it didn't work. The guardzilla wasn't matching up to my phone or my home wifi and it was basically a paperweight. Shahnaz had no solutions to offer, and she denied the refund entirely due to lack of packaging. Even best buy staples office depot conventionally accept returns for unpacked items as long as they have a receipt! Basically, this manager insisted that the product was "worn or altered" per the return policy because I did not have the box. Unbelievable. I even suggested an offer in compromise for store credit or direct exchange and adding more of my own money to account for the fact that it's the fact that it was an open box item that they had to take back into their inventory. Despite my tries for a solution, they were to no avail. she just didn't want to give me any solution whatsoever. I really can't stand her. I won't buy anything else from this ross because I don't want to have to deal with her giving me hell for returning one item from a purchase of over $200 of other stuff I kept! And that is only one visit! Let me put it to you this way: i stopped at a different ross where i didn't purchase the guardzilla, And they fully refunded my card! Easy as that! And then you know what? I went to this Ross and the security Vanessa was really nice she has the best customer service skills. When I approached her she was really intuitive and approachable. She answered all my questions in a respectful manner too bad she doesn't work there anymore. If anyone deserved award for excellent customer service would be her. I love Ross in general, but this is particular location is usually my go to. It's a larger store that's only about five minutes from my apartment and it's normally pretty clean and organized, unlike some other Ross locations I've been to. I also think they have a great clothes selection, especially for oversized shirts and tights kind of outfits and home goods!
