As the self-appointed Italian food reviewer of the North Shore, Rossetti's at 142 Brimbal Ave, Beverly, MA, is a must-visit! Cocktails: Started with a bang! The "Perfect Pear" is a must-try for sweet drink lovers, featuring pear vodka, pear liqueur, reduced pear nectar, and lemon. My mom loved the "Monkey Business," a unique blend of banana-infused rum, amaro, fig cordial, and a special house blend of bitters. Appetizers kicked off with the Port Wine Braised Veal Arancini, served over Madeira demi with aged Parmigiano Reggiano--a sensational dish that elevates arancini to new heights with its rich flavors, scoring a perfect 10/10. The octopus dish with tomato and herb broth, chorizo, and clams was delicious, though the potatoes could have used a bit more cooking, earning an 8/10. Entrees: The Ricotta Gnocchi with its creamy buffalo mozzarella and luscious sauce was a crowd-pleaser at 9/10. The signature Pasta Alla Genovese had perfectly cooked meat, though the pasta was a touch too al dente for me, also a 9/10. Main Dishes: The 14oz Grilled Bone-In Pork Chop was juicy and flavorful, enhanced by the tangy vinegar peppers, scoring another 9/10. The Branzino Puttanesca was superbly seasoned, well worth its price, and a generous portion for $46, making it a worthwhile splurge. The Branzino "Puttanesca" was packed with flavor from stewed tomatoes, olives, and chili flakes, beautifully complemented by honey roasted broccolini, well worth the over $40 price at a stellar 9/10. Dessert: Ended on a high note with Warm Ricotta "Zeppole" (Italian donuts) that were soft, doughy, and simply divine, especially with the unique hint of orange--9/10. The Fruity Pebbles Milk Punch cocktail was dangerously good, tasting just like fruity water! The most unique dessert drink, the Fruity Pebbles Milk Punch, was dangerously delicious, tasting just like the cereal-infused water! Overall, if you're an Italian food enthusiast on the North Shore, Rossetti's is worth exploring for its creative cocktails, exceptional arancini, and rich pasta dishes. Ratings: Food: 9/10, Ambiance: 8/10, Affordability: 6/10

I recently organized a corporate fundraiser to benefit childhood cancer research, and Rossetti made a very kind donation despite the fact I hadn't ever dined there. Wanting to give them my business for their generosity, I suggested to my parents that we give them a try for dinner this past Friday night prior to seeing a show at the Cabot. All I can say is wow -- everything here is truly superb! The ambience, decor, service, and food were all exceptional. We were particularly impressed by the way the entire crew seemed to operate like a well-oiled machine. Service by our waitress, Claudia, was wonderful and timely, and the everything going by from both the kitchen and the bar looked artfully crafted and delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed our shared appetizer and individual meals. It was apparent that each dish had been made with very high quality ingredients -- simple enough that each one shined but still complex and wonderful in flavor. The manager, Toni, even came over to check on us and recognized me as the person she mailed their donation to when I introduced myself. I thought that was so nice. Thank you, Rossetti team, for your terrific hospitality and once again for your generosity. You have earned our repeat business for sure!

Ambiance, food, service all made for a wonderful meal. It was a bit loud which is why it loses a star and was hard to hear conversation at my table of 6. I got the prosciutto grilled pizza (without blue cheese) and it was very tasty and not too heavy. Good proportion of ingredients and flavor combo. I also tried the cod which came with lobster risotto also very nice. We were tired and unfortunately didn't stick around for dessert but will have to try it next time.

A perfect spot for a Sunday brunch! The space is beautiful and spacious. When seated we got lemon muffins on the house. For our meal we ordered truffled deviled eggs, brioche french toast and the brunch mac. I highly recommend it all and it was a great portion.

Hands down the most flavorful pork chop I've ever encountered, highly recommend!!! The truffle fries are also a hit!

Waitress was great. My pancakes were horrible. How does a restaurant manage to ruin pancakes? They had no taste, pretty bad.

One night, while wanting to try a local pizza place but not have to drive too far and not have to fight the difficult parking in downtown Salem, I discovered Tesoro Cucina in Beverly on Bridge Street. What immediately stood out when viewing their menu is their eclectic selection of specialty pizzas. Any pizza joint can have a meat lovers, Greek, and veggie, but Tesoro Cucina comes up with some interesting combinations. Case and point: The "Dill"icious Duo - with their signature "ranchfredo" sauce, whole milk mozzarella, super sour pickles, and North Country bacon. The alfredo and ranch white sauce was so savory, the pickles were indeed super sour, and there was an absurd amount of bacon. Most pizzas that include bacon throw on a few pieces of basic bacon bits but this was real, crispy, big pieces of bacon. I have had plenty of pickle pizzas and this was hands-down the best I've had by far. I've also tried the Old School Gabagool (mozzarella, crushed San Marzano tomatoes, hot imported capicola, cherry pepper relish and sweet onions) and The Big Malaka (fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, feta, garlic, olives, spinach, peppers, onions, oregano, olive oil drizzle), both of which were also great. The restaurant sits in its own little strip mall, making parking extremely easy, and the staff inside have always been welcoming and friendly. Every time I think to try a new pizza place in the North Shore area, I ultimately go back to Tesoro Cucina because you cannot go wrong.

She was patient and kind and took the time to understand what we needed. We ordered cocktails... because tonight was the last night I could before I re-start chemotherapy. Both my father and I ordered the Sangria ($14.00) ... And it was *amazing*. Honestly, it was the best I've had since my best friend and I drank together at a Flamenco restaurant in Montreal in June of 1985. My mother ordered the house dry red wine ($10.00) I didn't taste it and she didn't mention whether it was good or not. We ordered one Ceasar Salad ($10.00) and it was both really generous and incredibly delicious (see photo). My parents and I split it three was and it was plenty. The tang of the dressing really worked against the sardines and garlic. I'd definitely go back for more of that!! For dinner, my mother ordered the beef special.... Beef Braciole ($33.00) in an epic sauce. She loved it... but definitely could not finish it!! She brought the leftovers home (as did my father and I). My father ordered the Veal parmigiana ($29.99) and it was a massive, almost overwhelming plate of food (photo attached). He loved it (as did I when I tasted it!). For me?? I ordered the Pollo Vodka Bella Napoli ($26.99 - photo attached). It was a huge, almost overwhelming bowl of food and it was amazing. Deep, rich flavor with mushrooms, bacon, shallots, and tender chunks of chicken. The noodles we all ordered were the home made & hand-made fusilli that are produced in-house. I think that if a chef is going to spend the time necessary to make noodles, you should savor them... and that's what we did. Suzanne offered us a chance at dessert, but we declined, since we knew that if any of us ate a bite more, we would hit critical mass and destroy at least the surrounding block. The only weak point we encountered was the bread. It was weak, drab, and lacking in taste and character. They could do much better on that. Our bill, with taxes, was $162.62. With tip, it came to $195. Totally worth it!

The seafood chowder has a good amount of seafood (shrimp with some scallops), but the seafood was mushy. The chowder was also lacking flavor. The chicken parmigiana was not as good as Olive Garden. The chicken was mushy, and the sauce was watered down/thin.

I stopped by Piccolo Piatti mid-afternoon and the place was fairly busy with people hanging out waiting for their orders. I ordered a Salmon Bowl ($16 plus tax) which was ready in about 25 minutes after ordering since there were already large orders before mine. I watched the two cooks prepare food in the kitchen as I waited. The Salmon Bowl was really good with nice flavors, which had white rice, mixed greens, red onions, pico de gallo, hot tender honey glazed salmon smoothed with a pesto mayo. I will definitely have to drop in again for a hot sandwich with a smoothie!

It's in a great location in downtown Beverly with a large parking lot behind it, so parking was easy. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the mushroom arancini. The calamari was the strangest version I've ever had, mixed with jalapeños, arugula, tomatoes, and marinara sauce placed underneath. The combination didn't really work, and I wasn't a fan of the sauce being on the bottom instead of on the side. The arancini was better, but still odd. It was served over some kind of Alfredo sauce, which again felt unnecessary. It seems like this place really likes putting sauce on the bottom of dishes, and it didn't enhance the food. The real highlight of the night was the drinks. We both ordered espresso martinis, and they were honestly the best espresso martinis I've ever had. There were several other cocktails that looked great as well, so we'll definitely be back to try more drinks. Overall, the food was underwhelming and didn't meet my expectations. I wouldn't come back for the food, as their takes on classic dishes just didn't work for me. That said, if you're looking for great cocktails, Soma is absolutely worth it, especially for the espresso martinis. Get dinner elsewhere in Beverly and stop by Soma for drinks!
