I went here with a group only because we'd purchased a restaurant.com gift certificate for the place. (Never supposed to expire!) The owner refused the certificate and went on a tirade about the company. I don't go to a restaurant to hear an owner complain--he should have familiarized himself with the terms he was agreeing to before partnering with restaurant.com. Tons of other local establishments have been using them happily for years. On to the food. The first thing I ordered had been 86ed because they ran out. K, cool. Order meatballs and scamutz, and a pizza to share. It took way too long to get our food--over 45 mins, with no one coming by for drink refills unless we waved someone over. The waitress was less than pleasant. When the food came, my meatballs were cold and the cheese had started hardening up already. They were pretty bland imo, and not something I'd ever get again. However, a Hazleton native who was in our group ordered the same and enjoyed his... maybe people around here are just used to crappy food. The pizza was meh. The sauce had a tomato paste kind of hint to it, almost tinny. The prices are insane for what they give you. The portions weren't big at all, and the quality was mediocre at best. We had no leftovers, no one drank alcohol, the only appetizer was a shared pizza, and everyone ordered sandwiches or burgers and fries. $84 for 6 people. Not sure if serious. If you're familiar with the area, you know there are places to get much better food for that price, and you'd have enough left over that everyone has leftovers for lunch the next day. Just to finish it off with a bang, the owner came over and tried to sell us a car before we left. "Know anyone looking for an old blahblahblah? Paid 8 for it, but I'll take 7." As we waited for the waitress to gring the check, we heard him tell someone else that he paid 6 for it and wanted 7. Lol. I will never go back, and would never recommend Rosta's to anyone. Go to Cuz-N-Joe's in the valley or one of the 5 billion pizza places in town. read more

This place USED to be a favorite spot of ours. Food was decent and service good. Decided to try it out under recent new ownership about a week ago. Can't comment on the food because no one took an interest in waiting on us so we left. My wife and I sat 20 minutes without ever being acknowledged even though the server passed us several times. Not sure what the problem was but if someone there doesn't get their act together soon this place will never carry the tradition it once did of being a local favorite. read more

One of the best places in town for sandwiches. Sausage and Schamutz is top notch. If your in Northeast PA and looking for some good grub, it don't get much better than this. read more

Great hazleton staple..a definte go to if you are in the area! Personable staff and owner make you feel like being with friends. Large, reasonable priced portions..MUST have the grilled meatball and scamutz sandwhich...never heard of it? You will be back! read more

If you're anywhere close to this restaurant, you HAVE to stop in! I have never had such great anti pasta or pizza as I did at this restaurant. Friendly staff, generous portions, and decent live music on the weekends. If you've never tried scamutz and sausage or scamutz and meatballs, this is the place to try it. Local favorites, Farmer's Ice Tea and Yuengling lager, are plentiful. I'll definitely be back! read more

We go there for pizza every year while visiting family. Great service, great people, great pizza . I have no idea on the the spelling of the cheese but the skamutz pizza is delicious. We dont have that in New Jersey. I cant wait until next summer. read more

I go to this place often. I'm a fan of the pizza. Although its just a store bought shell its still good... The down fall to this place.... well its over priced for what they are serving. You could buy the same pizza shell at the grocery store for half the cost.. All and all they are doing something right being I keep paying whatever they charge lol read more

I order a chicken salad panini and the bread was so hard i couldn't even bite into it. The cheese was gross as well as the chicken salad, very flavorless and this isn't my first time being disappointed. My boss ordered for the office and they forgot half of the order when she picked it up! needless to say I will never order for there again. I'll probably get food poisoning later. Thanks. read more

I have eaten at this rest. for over 20 yrs. In the past 3-4 yrs. the prices have increased outrageously, while the food has gotten smaller. their personal pizzas could feed an elf and their pannis have been reduced to a large piece of toast. cmon tony and alfreda more profit. how much more don't you want. keep taking trips and maybe care more about your rest. read more

I'd been hearing about this place for years. I'm beginning to think the people of Hazleton have no taste for what makes good food. For me, it's about quality, not quantity or price. Anyway, the food was nearly flavorless, the service was awful, and the prices were ridiculous for what they gave you. One of the most overrated places to eat in Hazleton.
