Great place ordered the hot links hash brown and eggs, also got biscuits and gravy, and churro style French toast. Got seated pretty fast and the food came fast as well. The hash brown was a lot and thick but didn't have the crunch I was hoping for, the biscuit and gravy was alright not bad, the churro style French toast was what I came here for. 5 stars for the chile verde omelette! Moist, savory, with perfectly cooked buttery crisp hash browns and sourdough toast. Pork was just a teeeeny tiny bit dry but the salsa masks most of it. After living in Castro Valley for over 2 years, finally found a great brunch place nearby! Small, but cozy and it gets packed quick. Rosy's never fail to deliver delicious food regardless of what's ordered. Sometimes the cooks forget to change preferences (i.e. turkey sausage instead of ham) or the toast is slightly more charred than our liking, but the food is always on point. Their housemade hot sauce goes with every protein IMO. I love it drenched over my eggs, corned beef hash, omelets, links, you name it! Food comes out quick for the most part, but on ocassions they're slammed so expect a longer wait. When you're done eating, pay at the front counter. Located inside the same plaza as Grocery Outlet with lots of parking. They also sell a bunch of items like teddy bears and flowers. read more

We've been keeping an eye on this place, waiting for our opportunity to try them out. It's a nice little neighborhood type coffee shop. A couple of other guests when we arrived around 8:30 on a Friday morning. "Good morning. Have a seat anywhere" was our greeting. Perfect! We took a table and were asked what we'd like to drink. Two coffees please, with cream. Menus were presented along with our coffee. "Couple of minutes?" Yes, please. Well, it was probably more like 7 while she was having a conversation with another employee but no big deal. She kept our coffee topped up, greeting other guests, worked the register and all the other tasks one would expect. When our food was up, she brought it to us. My go-to breakfast to rate restaurants is Chicken Fried Steak. I loves me some Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy, preferably Country Sausage Gravy. The Chicken Fried Steak that was presented to me was probably the least attractive in appearance ever! The gravy was thin and watery looking. The crust on the meat hadn't even begun to turn golden brown like fried chicken should. The steak itself was very small and thin. Surprisingly, it was actually pretty decent in flavor! The Hash Browns had onions on them as requested and were quite good as were the Over Easy Eggs. Wheat Toast is Wheat Toast. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with them either. The biggest problem I had with this dish is the portion of Steak. Way too small for the price. It was slightly larger than a Hash Brown at McDonald's. Make it 50% larger and charge a couple of dollars more if you need to. She had the Hungry Hobo which sounded interested in description but not so good in execution. Linguica, Bacon, Bell Pepper, Onion, Mushrooms and Cheddar Cheese Scrambled with Home Fries served with Toast. The problem with large dishes like this and skillet dishes is that you can't always tell what you're getting. She said that the dish was mostly Potatoes, Bell Peppers and Onions. Everything else, if it was there was buried. I found it interesting that the Shredded Cheddar didn't really melt and get all ooey gooey. Maybe we went on an off day. I'd usually say that I'd like to go again to give them another try but there was one thing that turned me off when it was time to pay. I was going to use a credit card until the server pointed to a sign posted on the counter that stated a 50-cent charge for credit card use. I understand that all credit card and atm transactions cost the business a set fee plus a small percentage but I also understand that contractually, businesses are prohibited from charging fees for electronic transactions. I didn't argue with her but choose to pay cash. While the 50-cents wouldn't make me or break me, it's the principle of being nickeled and dimed that I resent. read more

My good friend and I happened upon this little gem on a drive back home from Union City. We searched Yelp for a breakfast/brunch place and Yelpers helped us pick this one in Hayward. The location is a bit out of the way but if its on your route, it's worth stopping by. The restaurant is located in a shopping area that has a grocery outlet and a liquor store in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. On the outside, the restaurant might be missed so keep your eyes open or you'll pass it. On the inside, the ambience is quite dated and small but cozy. When we arrived the place was a full house. Luckily, there was a "sort of table for 2" available. This table was pretty close to all other tables. There are booths (small ones) too. The food was well above expectations- bacon wasn't greasy, the omelette wasn't either. EVERYTHING was delicious and the portions very generous. My friend and I split our orders of a Joe's Special Omellette (choice of ground beef, ham or bacon, mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese with hash browns or country potatoes and your choice of toast) and a #3 which was french toast, choice of bacon or sausage and your choice of 2 eggs. We noticed only 3 servers in the place, but they got food out quickly and with a little smile. They were quite frequent with the refills on coffee. We always used to come to the grocery outlet that's in the same lot when we lived in Hayward, yet I never noticed this breakfast place or how lit it is in here! And we used to come over here alot. The place isn't big! But they haf a good maybe 10 tables? All full! The wait was 25 mins. They have a few seats outside to wait. So we waited. Finally got seated at a table in the back. It was pretty tight! We were basically behind the counter & in the kitchen lmao. But hey, I didn't mind. The food portions were BIG! My mother in law got the Chicken Taco Salad that thing was humongous! I believe I uploaded a photo, that thing could feed 4 people no joke! My grandmother in law got the special of that day "fish tacos with rice & beans" she said it was delicious. I ordered the basic American breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash & toast) sharer with my toddler. I don't remember what my fiancé got but he finished his plate forsure. The food was great! Service was okay.. they weren't as attentive. I needed water refill but & some salsa.. never got it. That was annoying. Then when we were paying, the lady was a little on the rude rush type. When she was the one taking forever to get us set up! So she annoyed me as well. My hunny & I wanted to try something new while waiting for the shooting range. We noticed this place had 4 1/2 stars so why not give it a try. They are currently doing outside seating . Only two tables available outside. Not sure if they bring out more tables or not. You are seated on a small side walk in a small plaza near a liquor store, a closed down Gruellense, and Grocery outlet bargain market. Thankfully, it was not busy otherwise that'll make the experience awkward considering there is not privacy on the small side walk you are seated at. We didn't get the orange juice we ordered, no biggie. Food was good & coffee was good as well. Would I recommend this place? Probably not. Maybe it's just because of what I ordered. It was good but still doesn't top my favorite place to go to for corned beef & hash in the West Bay. Nevertheless, food was good. Inexpensive prices. That's a plus! Anything you want to substitute for, is extra. The Large Hobo is basically a huge scramble. It came with eggs, green peppers, potatoes onions chorizo & cheese. I have been going to a grocery store in the same shopping center as this restaurant for years and I can't believe I never came here!!!! They've been open for 4 years and Rosy herself is taking orders and giving recommendations, while her husband is in the back cooking up food. I gotta say that this place has mad flavors, their homemade salsa has a delicious kick and their cream sauce is really good too! I ended up getting their Carnitas Omelette with rice, beans and a flour tortilla. When it came out there were fresh/ pickled veggies on top of the omelette which I really liked! It gave you that acidity which gave you mouth a refreshed feeling that makes you want to go back and eat more of it!! On top of it the carnitas was really juicy with a really nice crispness on the outside! My mom ended up getting the Chicken Tostada, which came with a crispy tortilla shell, plenty of lettuce, tomatoes and chicken! I didn't try any of it, but my mom said it was really good and it hit the spot! We both got Coffee which I thought was good after adding sugar too it (I have a sweet tooth) and my mom thought was definitely better what some other places do. We also got a smoothie which we shared and it was really delicious and fruity. I'm always looking for new places near my parents house to eat at so we checked out Rosy's. The place was very...fragrant when we walked in but full of people, so my dad and I decided to stay and try the food. I mean, if they liked it... I had the huevos rancheros and my dad tried the french toast. I paid extra to substitute beans for the potatoes on the huevos rancheros and when the plate arrived it was a little dissapointing at how little food there was on the plate for close to $14 (2 eggs, 2 tortillas, a scoop of refried beans, and a sprinkling of cheese). I don't understand why they charge an extra $1 for just swapping the potatoes for refried beans. I guess they must really hate when people make substitutions and try to charge people so much that they won't ask for a substitution. My eggs were very runny (even the white part was soft) and I realized that the server never asked me how I wanted my eggs cooked. My dad's french toast was better. Four large slices, two sausage links, and some scrambled eggs. This place is family owned and operated and I love that aspect. read more

I was driving near Hayward and wanted to go have breakfast with my daughter. I went on yelp to find places in my area and this place was literally 3 minutes from where I was driving so I came here. It's really small on the inside, you can tell a bunch of regulars come here. When we walked in, we were greeted immediately and was told to sit anywhere so we sat in the corner by the window. Our waitress came and brought us coffee and orange juice upon request and I asked for 5 minutes to look through the menu. I ordered a mushroom and cheese omelette and added avocados and spinach, I ordered chicken apple sausage and fried potatoes for my daughter. My omelette was good, nothing too special but it was pretty good, now the part where I was confused was when the chicken apple sausage came for my daughter and it was burnt and just looked gross, nothing like how a chicken apple sausage should look like, I almost feel like nobody ever orders chicken apple sausage so they found a few pieces in the back of the freezer and just scorched it. Never will order again. The customer service was great, my omelette was good but that sausage threw me way off. So that place was definitely a hit and quit. read more
