While the food was of great quality and had decent presentation. It was obvious the food was of a higher caliber as they claimed, unfortunately the staff did not shine through as well as the food. When I had my meal we had a child with us who definently could not eat a whole plate, but as there is not a childs menu we ordered a full meal and expected to just eat his sides among the rest of us. Staff gave issues even giving us the standard three sides, and once we got them to agree they tried to only give us about half the serving size that was on any of the adults plates. read more

Food is delicious and healthy and moderate $$-$$$ expense wise. The servers are a bit of a disaster. Generally uninformed about the actual names of the food they are serving. One server this morning at @ 11:25 on 9/14/16 was so hostile, so rude, so uninformed, that I really felt the need to report her but was in a hurry to get back to work. She had 2 rows of lower front teeth and a terrible sneer and was so inarticulate that she could not communicate in a polite or helpful way at all. She should be let go as she is not suited to interfacing with the public. Her ℅ worker stepped in to salvage the mess but the situation left me annoyed and very put out to have such a weird hostile encounter while ordering an otherwise delicious, sophisticated, healthy meal. I wish I could hit three and a half because three is too little and four, well, too much. I very much enjoy the choices of platter, salad or sandwich and the meat or veggie options. I think the portions are filling and its usually about $10 for me. The one issue I have is the consistency of this location - sometimes its fantastic and other times its just ok. I like the chicken kabob platter, the red onion side is good, the hummus is generous and tasty. I love spicy but they hottest flavoring hurt my enjoyment of the meal as the rest became flavorless. I stopped by this Roti location today to grab lunch to-go prior to hopping on the metro back to my office on Capitol Hill. I walked in and the line was wrapped around the restaurant, almost to the door. I immediately beelined it out of there because I did not have time to wait. The manager Carlos followed me out and assured me that I would be out of the line with my food in 6 minutes. I questioned him, and he said that if it wasn't the case, my lunch was on him. Who was I to turn that down? Carlos said he would grab his timer, and I started mine on my phone as well. Carlos was actually helping to serve the food when I got up to the counter, and we had just hit 6 minutes. All-in-all, it took 6 minutes 30 seconds for me to wait, order, and get my food. Carlos personally took care of my transaction and as he had promised, my meal was complimentary. This excellent customer service will be the number one reason I return...aside from the fact that my lunch was tasty, and 7 minutes is really not that long to wait for a meal either. read more

I came with a friend for lunch and had never been. I didn't want to hold up the line and while I knew I wanted the new spicy lamb meatballs, in a wrap, all the toppings were intimidating. So I told a prince of a man named Terrance, aka "Sweet T", to make me the most delicious thing they had. And that man did NOT disappoint. I can't tell you what all was in it- there was a medium spicy orange sauce, couscous, something with cucumber and feta but the thing was massive when he was done. And it was the most delicious wrap I've ever had. I will now come back and order the Sweet T all the time- the guy works at lunch so I have a feeling a new addiction was born. Plus, they have the best falafel I've ever had. Usually I hate them because they're dry and you have to douse them in tziziki sauce. But these were moist and perfect (the tziziki was delicious too but it only needed a dab for flavor). It was a bit pricy- $11 for wrap and falafel, but it was totally worth it and I will definitely be back for the Sweet T!!! read more

This review is for the 1311 F St NW location specifically. I have also been to the 1275 First Street NE location and quite enjoyed my lunch and left with a good impression. I like the concept of this chain, and I want to eat here. But F Street is to be avoided. After several visits I have concluded that the quality of food is consistently poor here and the portions uneven and often small (though due to the poor food quality, small is okay). Bottom line is you pay over $13 for smallish portions of hot-tray cafeteria food slapped on a paper plate with a fountain soda. The food at this location is often tasteless and over cooked. Even at 1220pm the food looks looks like warmed over leftovers from yesterday. If you ask for hummus (cheap) they slop on a giant soon full of about 3/4 of a cup or more and give you a small pita nub to eat it with. But ask for cheese and you get a few crumbles. A few Olives? That will cost you more. The meat choices are lackluster and not particularly appealing. This store has the feel of a franchise owner only interested in milking a cash cow created by the goodwill and tasty product of other locations. No more for me. read more

When I was charged extra at the register, I brought it up with the manager of the store who took it out immediately. Overall the meal was adequate. The staff was fine. The posted menu featured lamb, but when I went to order it wasn't available, so I went with the Falafal. I was disappointed to discover it had been sweetened, as if they had spilled sugar into the Falafal mix. Maybe the chain is trying to appeal to the average American, but it was pretty vile. This is a pretty standard Mediterranean grill but there are a couple of things they could improve. Sometimes the food, particularly the chicken, can be a little dry and often when they make my pita they don't spread out the ingredients. Also, the pitas are pretty small for the price you pay. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but considering the fact that you can get kalamata olives, feta cheese, and couscous in your wrap instead of black beans, it's understandable. The names of all the veggie options are written really small in white and aren't clearly posted on the board, so you have to take a second to see what you want -- they employees don't go through them all. I have given this place three tries at lunch and each time - frustration. The food is adequate, it is not rocket science, however, I object to having my food slopped on a plate as though I were eating in a high school cafeteria. I have been a loyal guest at the 1311 F Street Northwest Roti Mediterranean Grill location since it first opened almost three years ago, give or take. Today I found a hair in a my Laffa Wrap sandwich (half Chicken Roti half Falafel with Roasted Red Pepper and S'hug sauces, Hummus,Cous-Cous, Red Cabbage Slaw, and Feta cheese). This just added insult to injury because while I was in line ordering this sandwich, one of their Team Members seemed to have been overwhelmed; he kept asking the gentleman (a guest) behind me what he wanted on my sandwich. The gentleman and I both corrected him (each more than once), but he did not pay our efforts any attention. Seconds prior to, a different Team Member banged either a spatula or a plate on the Laffa Wrap warmer in a sort of syncopated rhythm to the syllables of "Chicken Roti or Chicken Kabab?" as he asked me to specify. I normally place my order in this restaurant before 12 o'clock noon to avoid situations like this. Aside from this, I have always had favorable experiences here, spreading the good word to my colleagues and friends who worked nearby. But this, today, is not the 1311 F Street Northwest Roti Mediterranean Grill location I have come to know. I am disgusted and extremely disappointed. read more
