I really liked the place. Maybe because there wasn't much to compare it to but it was still solid food. Train theme was interesting but not overwhelming. Staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfeast was tasty. I was really hoping for some good home cooked hash but they still prepped the canned stuff well. The menu is extensive. Would have liked to try some of the lunch items. Went here all the time when I lived in LaPorte, especially for breakfast. TONS of food choices, HUGE portions, and a great price. Service is hit or miss, with some days being fast and friendly, other days being ridiculous. I can't suggest one menu item over another, everything is good. It's exactly what you would expect from a family dining restaurant with Senior Life and some contractor or dog grooming cards on the bulletin board. When it comes to the family diner, however, great service is what I crave most. When I'm eating home cooking, I want to feel like I'm at home. This place disappoints me every time I go there. Went last night and ordered fettuccine alfredo with no chicken(because last time I had chicken there it was undercooked) and the sauce tasted nothing like alfredo sauce. It was basically creamy sauce with a TON of garlic powder with a sprinkle of cheap parmesan cheese on top. The garlic bread that came with it was drowned in butter. I enjoy Round the Clock because it's like a trip to a NJ diner. Greeted by a revolving display case of cakes and pies, one can order breakfast at any time or big salads, good sandwich plates, an assortment of Greek entrees. Round the clock is great. read more

. It was about 8:30pm. It was not busy at all. Ten people in the whole place including the workers. The cashier/hostess seated us with menus and left. A couple that came in after us attended by the same waitress that we were suppose to have received their drinks right away. We waited and waited. Not acknowledged, no water, drinks, nothing. We waited a total of almost 15 minutes then got up to leave and telling the cashier what happened. The only customers were a total of 6 people to attend to including us if we would have stayed. We wound up going to Christo's and had a delicious dinner that we even had to bring leftovers home. Terrible service. Will nit go back. read more

We went there twice for breakfast. The first time in a Monday, food & service was good. Second time on a Saturday, food was not as good, service was okay. Both times the window and blinds next to me were dirty but the worst thing was the server's perfume, which was over powering. Ugh! read more

We use to love coming to this restaurant but not so much anymore. On our last visit it was bad. I ordered a California Chicken with Avacado and mushrooms on rye. It was so greasy that I had grease running down my arms. I took the sandwich a part in hopes it woukd be better but it wasn't. Had only two slices of avacado on the entire sandwich, the bread was soggy from the grease and the chicken was over seasoned with black pepper. It was like sucking on a pepper mill. I like the decor in this place, the train cars and luggage and everything are fun. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a display of tasty looking yummies that stare you right in the face when you walk in. You can take a whole pie home! Lol! I love that the menu has some great Greek choices mixed in. Used to be a great place. Maybe still is but sure seems to be going downhill based on tonight's experience. Taking forever for each request. My daughters have been waiting for 10 minutes now and still waiting for a lemonade refill. My daughter had to wait 15-20 minutes after she got her French toast to get her sausage. Had to send it back because it was hard as a rock burnt. She couldn't bite through it. By the time we got the lemonade we were ready to leave. Horrible service. Semi crappy food tonight. Might try again but I don't know. I have two reviews for Round the Clock; the first is on their lunch services, and my second is on their catering. Lunch services: I discovered Round the Clock because my husband's family has been eating there for almost as long as he can remember. We typically go on the weekends and always between 12pm-2pm (typical lunch "rush"). We have never had to wait very long and we have never had a rude server. Our drinks have run low once or twice but I have seen lines so long they stretch multiple tables deep. It's worth it. Their reubens are absolutely fantastic! I am on a mission for the world's best reuben and try them almost everywhere I go; I have eaten reuben sandwiches at over 50 places now, and Round the Clock ranks (easily!) in my top 3. It's primarily what I order when we go. They also have a small window cooler when you first walk in which has a wide array of delicious looking desserts. If you go, you should get one. They are fabulous. My second review is on their catering: When my husband and I got married we decided to cater our rehearsal dinner. We had approximately 25 people to feed, and got everyone fed through Round the Clock for under $150. We ended up with almost twice the food we needed, and that was after we sent everyone home with food. The owner, John, was very nice when I was selecting what we wanted to cater. Even though I approached him during a Sunday after-church lunch rush, he took time to sit with me one-on-one in a booth and talk about tray sizing, portions, and options. My husband and I ended up ordering off of their "ala carte" menu which means the food comes in industrial-sized metal containers and you serve the food yourself. The diner was nice enough to even deliver our food to the church for us free of charge. We ordered a large side-salad which came with two free (HUGE) tubs of salad dressing, a large order of green bean almondine, a large order of chicken alfredo, and the biggest container of firehouse mostaccioli they offer. The chicken alfredo was a huge hit and was almost entirely gone by the night's end (as a fair warning: like any alfredo, it doesn't reheat the greatest), and while the mostaccioli was greatly loved (I personally ate three servings) 25 people couldn't even get half-way through the container! The mostacciolo reheats VERY well, and I ate it for several days after our rehearsal. All in all I would give the restaurant 6 stars if I could. Their food is amazing, their staff is very polite, and we had absolutely zero issues with their catering service. The owner took time to discuss sizing options and plate portions with me (including accommodating my request to see the actual pan sizes), and they delivered the food for free. While the wedding wasn't very far away, it was still greatly appreciated. I have gone back since the wedding and will continue to do so. You really can't go wrong with this diner. read more

Went there the other night. Ordered our food, once it came to our table everything listed on the menu was not included on our plates. The waitress said we had to tell her we wanted everything. In my opinion you should get what's listed, how dumb. After that we went home all was fine. About 3 am came around and that's when the fun started. Started throwing up every where. Had to miss work the next day as well. Went to the doctor and he said I had food poisoning! That was the only thing I had eaten that day. Will never go back. NEVER order the blt soup. read more

The food is average and over priced. In hard times the menu continues to rise with the same mediocre options. When I asked for extra lemons I was told there would be a charge. When I asked for a box for my left overs there was a 35cent charge on my bill. When I complained about the charges to one of the owners all he said was he pays for the boxes and so should the customer. Also, the waitstaff is unfriendly. read more

My wife and I were antiquing our way back home from vacation, and found this restaurant by accident. When we were handed the menu, my first thought was "Oh Boy her we go again" because of the number of items offered. My wife had the Greek sample platter and I had the Mexican sampler platter. Both were huge and very good. We both would give this restaurant another try if we are ever back in La Port. Also they must have a loyal following as the guy next to us walked in and the waitress as him if he was having his usual and his reply was yes, which was the goulash special. When he left he told her "see you next week" so my guess is that he gets his goulash fix every Monday. Thumbs up for this one. read more

The servers are usually quiet good and attentive, however, I have had several issues with food being wrong, or finding nasty things in my food, so the kitchen staff obviously need to step up! At one point I found corn in my mashed potatoes, and was informed that they hadn't had corn for a few days, so where did it come from? I don't think I want to know!!! read more

My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a week & we're always greeted as soon as we walk in the door. My parents and I also go once a week for breakfast. 99.5% of the time, the food is great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. The other .05%, it's either super busy, or we get a trainee and they may mix something up- but usually it always gets corrected & we leave extremely satisfied. We've established friendships with quite a few of the staff members, and they even know us by name. It's a great atmosphere and they have good food! Their menu is very broad, and there is something for everyone. Definitely recommend this restaurant to everybody. read more

So I decided to give this place another try, this time with my husband. I had no problems with the staff at all this time. Our server (who was a different girl from last time) was awesome. However, the food....the food was not right. I had ordered an Italian chicken sandwich with lemon rice soup and fries. A pretty simple order. I wasn't that hungry so I planned on taking my sandwich home, and to just pick at the fries and eat my soup. The lemon rice soup had an odd flavor. Like, a sugary after taste. It was not good. When I tried my sandwich later, I tasted swiss cheese, not mozzarella like one would think. It was just not right and tasted like feet. Sorry, Round the Clock. I gave you your last chance, but I will not be returning. Which makes me sad, because I really enjoy Greek-style restaurants. So if anyone knows of any in Laporte, I'd love to hear from you! read more

This is a quaint little restaurant with a welcoming feel. We enjoy coming here for breakfast. Their french toast is delicious. Their eggs and bacon are on par with other most breakfast establishments but I've gotten a lot more for my money elsewhere. Out of everything I have tried for breakfast here, the french toast is by far the best. I really like the old-fashioned train car that they have inside and can dine in. Another good aspect of this establishment is their assortment of pastries and desserts that you can choose from. They have an entire pastry cabinet in their entrance that you can choose slices or whole cakes and pies from. If you're looking for a family-friendly breakfast restaurant or are craving french toast, try this place. It's not the best place that I've been to but I'd recommend trying it. read more

Staff is always friendly and attentive. Stopped in for lunch at 10:30 and were given breakfast menus. We asked if we could possibly get lunch a little early and our server asked and they said yes. We both ordered the spaghetti, my husband's had melted mozzarella on top, I asked for mine without. Both came with garlic cheese bread and were hot! I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience the waters are always grate and so is the food even the guests are nice here the atmosphere is nice old yet new look to it.
