The food is pretty reasonably priced but the claw machines do get pretty pricey. The quality of the stuffies and really good and emulate the claw machines in Japan. We've been multiple times since the first time and have always come away with huge bags of prizes. Hoping to try the bowling or pool one of these times. This place has so much potential as a night spot if only they were properly staffed. Went on a Saturday night and the place was packed but there was no one behind the food nor the bar. Customers were waiting in line waiting for a staff to show up but to no avail. Eventually they had someone at the food but this guy was under too much pressure. There were groups celebrating in the karaoke that wanted to get drunk but no booze was available. I can't imagine the loss of revenues. Y'all need to staff up on the weekend. read more

This review is for the Bowling Center only. My son wanted to celebrate his birthday bowling with his friends, so I made it happen. The place is newly built, everything was spotless, and the bowling balls are all brand new. A heads-up though, they don't have party rooms at the moment, and you can't reserve lanes in advance. When I asked about party rooms a month before, they weren't sure when they'd be available. Because of that, we arrived an hour early to secure lanes before his friends showed up. So happy this location opened up in S.F.! I've heard so many good things about Round 1. This place is so fun with numerous claw machine, arcade games, bowling and food court! You'll need to purchase a game card in order to play the claw machines and arcade games. You can purchase a Regular card from the vending machine at the front or go to the guest services in the back. The benefit of going to the guest services is you could buy the Club / Digital Club card that gets you more credits as you purchase higher value credits. I guess it really depends how often you'd come back to play, so it would make sense to just load your card more to get the bonus credits and it'll also be cheaper per play for the machines. Plenty of parking "behind" the mall in the parking structure / target. read more

We 1st checked out the bar, the mix drinks barely had any alcohol content, I used to be a bartender, and the guy shortcut all my drinks. They had plenty of things you can do, from pool tables, bowling, karaoke, games, claw machines. The pricing seem a bit on the higher end but that's expected. Won a few stuff animals but some machines was a lot harder to grip the stuff animals at all because of the weight or structure, but is possible I guess if you put more money in haha...never give up right? Round1 feels like if Dave and Busters had a kid with a bowling alley along with a pool hall and a bar . Round1 also feels as if suburbia has landed in the basement of the old Nordstroms in San Francisco's Stonestown. Round1 caters to everybody from adults , families , groups , individuals, and university students to have fun .There are arcades and plenty of games to be played here with prizes. There is also my favorite addition to the Stonestown mall which is a bar with alcohol and drink specials ( sign says open till 2am). The sports bar atmosphere at Rounds1 finally brings a bar with alcohol to Stonestown. This place will be utilized for birthday parties , family gatherings , friend gatherings, team building , sport watching events , field trip, etc. Then there is food available . I had the karaage bowl and chashu bowl. The karaage chicken was crispy and had a good savory flavor with rice in a bowl. The chashu pork was soft and had a descent flavor with rice in a bowl. The rice bowls were okay and weren't going to win any prizes when it comes to food . The food here had more of an amusement park / museum and tourist trap food vibe without the high prices on some items like the price of ice cream which is 99 cents ( the ice cream was too sweet for me). Plan a visit and try to win and collect some prizes. My new place to go Round1 for some fun. There's a ton of claw machines and the prizes are all super cute and good quality! We spent $56 and got two large sized cats. We got the two prices within the first $25 and couldn't get anything at the end. At other round 1s they help a little more on placement if they see you struggling. Otherwise it feels fun for once in a while indoor activity. read more

We went into Round 1 mostly to check out the bowling alley but once you go down the stairs(escalators closed) near where Wetzel Pretzels is located, you are overwhelmed by the size of the place and bright flashing lights and noise. I found shelter in the bathroom from all the stimulation. There's a ton of money sucking machines with kids trying to win and parents willingly toss hard earned cash away for them. Only saw a couple of people who had stuffed animals in hand. The bowling alley looks nice. Of course, it's brand new. Prices look high. There's a bar near the bowling alley. The food court wasn't too busy in the afternoon when we visited on a weekday. I saw a sign that an ice cream cone sells for 99 cents. There are rooms you can rent for group events. It's an OK place. To be fair, I get that they just opened so they still need to work out the kinks. This review is simply for our food experience there last night. The kiosks were not working and there was only 1 cashier working on a busy Sat night. As a result, the line was extremely long. I watched the staff prepare food in the open kitchen and it looked rough back there. I crossed my fingers hoping our food was going to come out at least alright. I ordered the Double Japanese Teriyaki Burger. It was probably the saddest excuse for a burger i've had in my life. Photo attached to prove it. The bun was terribly soaked in oil with two small beef patties & onion slapped in between those soggy buns. It was missing the lettuce entirely. Please save yourself some cash and go somewhere else. I recently visited the skating area at Round One Stonestown and had a very upsetting experience with an employee named Grace. Her behavior was unprofessional and felt racially biased. The posted policy says one drink per hour, but I saw her serve other customers additional drinks within that same hour -- while enforcing the rule strictly with me. That kind of inconsistency and selective enforcement is unacceptable. On top of that, her attitude toward me was rude and dismissive. This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I hope management looks into this issue seriously and provides better training, because no one should be treated differently based on who they are. read more

The vibe here is ... gross. Ultra low effort. We've been here four times and every visit is worse. 1) Cleanliness. The place is disgusting. Bathroom is trashed, staff don't clean it. Literal poop and vomit (?) everywhere. 2) Food. The kitchen was closed every single time we visited, no matter what time of day. They always say the same thing - the oven and the fryer are down, can't cook food. On this final visit, they served my kid an ice cream cone, but it was just a cone full of goopy lukewarm ice cream soup (is the freezer broken too?) The soda fountains gave weird, watered down soda like everything was running low on syrup. I thought maybe it was just the coke, but every drink at the fountain did this. The food area was also out of napkins, straws, and utensils. I asked the girls behind the food counter for napkins, and they just stared at me, so then I walked over to the bar and asked the bartender for napkins (because the bar was the only food and drink area that seemed operational), and he told me to go get them myself (?wtf - I can see them behind the bar, that's why I asked you?)) 3) The Games. The claw machines are awful. They pick up an item and then just let it go. We all know these things are rigged, but most places have them programmed for at least an occasional pay out. We've spent over $300 on claw machines (between several visits) and got nothing! For comparison, we get 3-4 decent prizes every time we do claw machines at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Here with the kids! The place is clean and there's also a worker that goes around cleaning the machine which is nice to see unlike DB.. Tried to ordered some burgers and they ran out of it since opening day. Kinda disappointed since we were so hungry. Ice cream cone or cup are only 99 cents. Burgers only are $6-$9. The cashier was really nice and polite which is a big plus. Lots of people but not as crazy as opening day. Clawed machines are pretty much rigged as always but u can still win(hopefully). The kids did win 6(couple small and 4 medium/lg) in 2 and half hours there. They also played a bunch of other games as well. Glad they opened here in SF.. They should place markers on how far back and to the right/left the claw can go in the smaller claw machines. Some claws drop only to tilt sideways onto the target and at times the. LAN never reaches as far back as it should but borders on dropping into the chute at its farthest back. It seems like there is less of a payout compared to the early days when gamers had armful of plushies. read more

This place was a fun place to check out for several hours. The ambiance sort of felt like a 90s themed entertainment center. I wasn't a fan of that. For those who don't know, Round 1 is a Japanese chain. Having been to Japan's Claw Machine/Arcade spots, this sort of felt like a shell of what it was supposed to have been. It needed more energy, music, better choice in carpet, and kawaii chic. I've noticed a lot of people said the claw machines are rigged. Well, duh. People don't play a claw machine and expect a win. That being said, there are plenty of arcade games, the fun modern quality ones. 60% of the floor are varieties of claw machines with prizes that would make your eyeballs pop out your head if you like Anime or video games. There was a food court and full bar, which I very much appreciated very much. You have to flag down the workers several times to reset the machines sometimes if the prize goes to a weird area of the machine. I think they were a bit understaffed the day I visited. Because it's in Stonetown, there were armed security with a metal detector wand starting their shift at night. I didn't feel unsafe at any point but a safety precautions I appreciate. tl;dr: ymmv. This location is in a popular mall next to a college so yes, it'll get crowded. They never staff properly here so expect terrible customer service when it's busy (weekends after 12, afternoons after 3PM, school holidays). All the video game machine temps + air conditioning set at 70 degrees plus = take off your outer layers and leave them in the car before you walk in here. Food: terrible for the price. All heat 'n eat. The staff working the food are the same staff at the counters, and the ones helping you at the crane games. So obviously not the best food (I'm serious - Sun noodle pour water over a bowl of noods, throw some potstickers and takoyaki in the fryer, scoop an anemic scoop of 99 cent ice cream). Your best bet is to go to the mall to eat, then come back. Bar: Again, same folks who make your food and arrange the prizes in the claw machines make your cocktail, so don't expect miracles here. Getting tequila with soda water and a lime was like that DMV scene in Zootopia, with the sloths - I was screaming internally and paid $20 for the privilege. Best practice here is to stick to the specials (water beer and water moscow mules). Prices for standard cocktails also at least $3 higher than ANYWHERE at West Portal. Avoid. Bowling, karaoke: customer service, wait time, and pricing depends on the time of day. Pretty good to terribad. Arcade: Claw machines: Payouts for this chain in general are really bad. Regarding claw machines - if you think of these as slot machines, with a payout (as far as I can tell, around 20 card swipes) if you've sunk enough money into it, give it a couple more tries! Know that you'll get a "stronger" claw grip at that point to get a better chance at grabbing a prize. If you miss that stronger claw, then oh well, you gotta sink another 20 swipes. You'll know when you get the stronger claw when the prize actually goes a couple inches or so towards the hole. Not a scam if you think of it this way - basic physics (if you manage to get a stronger grab). Claw game Pro tip: Like slot machines, know when to walk away, if you're out $50 and you really want a prize? In most cases all non - R1 exclusive prizes in the big machines are $25 or so on Amazon (the figures especially!). Claw game Pro tip 2: If you can find an employee, they're fine with adjusting a prize to a better spot, but this location is not as helpful as the ones in SoCal. Claw game Pro tip 3: Avoid the smaller claw machines, Terrible Payout, there is no "stronger" claw grab for these. Token machines: (Castlevania, Spongebob, DC, etc) are the true money sucks; ticket payout is AWFUL. Rhythm / driving / shooting / fighting games: Great selection - they've got the Konami classics (DDR, Beatmania, etc), and a bunch of sweet driving games (Mario Kart, Initial D, etc). This is where R1 truly excels over Dave & Buster's - they've got the Japanese arcade games that D&B is missing. Fighting games closer to the bowling area. However, the limited availability of only two Express machines for purchasing and reloading playing cards was a major drawback. Despite spending $35, I couldn't win any stuffed animals. Round 1 primarily revolves around claw machines, which are the main draw to win stuffed animals. Although the stuffed animals may not be the most thrilling prizes, they are still endearing and enjoyable to collect. I have come here a handful of times and it's a great indoor activity when it's cold or wet outside and you don't want to be outside. I came here this weekend and the customer service was ok not outstanding or great. We went bowling and only had to wait 20 minutes for a lane we went to the bar before going to our lane when we checked in and paid for our bowling shoe rental and games. When we finally got our drinks the lane that we were assigned to was being used. I went to the person who was working there in the area and he said it was lane 7 we can use. There was a long wait for our drinks and it's one drink per ID. So, if you have fore than one person who wants a drink everyone has to be there and show ID. After the bowling we went to the desk to purchase credits for games and the sign said that it was unlimited games for an hour. When I get there the person said that the games only 5 of them worked for the deal. So I purchased $30 which is 130 credits. When my nephew wanted to redeem the points the customer service was the worst I experienced there was a dinosaur toy and it was labeled wrong and the manager said that they couldn't do anything it's what the system said not the sign. Super glad that Round1 opened in SF instead of needing to commute to SJ or East Bay! I really liked how spacious it is compared to the other locations - there seems to be a limited amount of games vs cranes though. There are plenty of claw machines but the only downside is that because there are so many, it seems that they don't have enough varieties of stuffed animals/anime figurines, because some cranes had the same items. There are certain aisles of the cranes that get really packed, especially the smaller cranes. It seems that it's a lot easier to win from these cranes vs the other locations that I've been to. Compared to the other locations as well, it's easy to find a staff member when you do win and it seems like the stuffed animals are always replaced whenever someone wins.
