Route 30 diner is an eatery one could easily miss. It is small, covered in chrome and appears frozen in time. I think this is a spot where locals go: Photos of military local heroes on the perimeter. The inside appears original. Chrome. Original lights. (A bit dim). Tables and a bar with stools! Prices are more than I would expect from a diner, but the food was also more than I expected. I got the alpine omelette. Big portion. Good flavors. Home fries were crispy as requested. The Ruben was pretty big with well done tots. Each was about $10. Service was excellent. Great breakfast! We each had a traditional breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The only thing they could improve on are the home fries. They could use some seasoning like onion. We'd been here before and as we were back in the area, partner shared his craving for their chicken corn soup which I don't understand but he gets to choose once in awhile. So we stepped back in time to a place where flowers bloom in November. The menu is small and basic, service; typical diner efficiency. Partner nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw the pot pie on the specials menu. He ordered it along with the complimentary cup of soup. He could have had a salad, but we came here for the soup. He loved it so much, he did it twice. Same order to go for later. My BLT was perfect. White toast, thick bacon, but not too much and thicker tomato. Really good thick potato chips. Pickles tasted off. The only disappointment. Last time they had an awesome 4 layer red velvet. This time nothing caught my eye so no dessert. It's been over 20 years since I've been to the Route 30 diner formally known as Jenny's. The interior hasn't changed a bit, which is a very good thing. The boots are still a little bit tight, but fortunately I've lost a lot of weight. I ordered the meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and a salad. The house salad was actually quite good with all the ingredients you would want a salad. The meatloaf came out covered with a rich, thick brown gravy. I can honestly say this is the best meatloaf I've had in any diner. And the mashed potatoes to die for homemade with little lumps as it should be. Saw this place coming back to hotel and came for dinner. If you like the old fashioned diner feeling, this is the place for you! Great music playing too! We were greeted immediately and waiter came quickly too. Both were very friendly. Alex, our waiter said they are under new management so any reviews from 9-2021 and back are not who they are anymore. We ordered the Mushroom Cheeseburger (1/2lb.) and instead of fries, we got Onion Rings ($3 extra) for a total of $15. 95 plus $3.00 to sfor the Onion Rings and a Rueben $11.95 with French fries. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection. It's diner food so it's what you expect but so much better. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town! 3/5/2022 - I stopped in here without looking at any reviews for this place. I was greeted by a very nice young lady who was welcoming. She asked me how I was this morning. I told her I'm old, fat and tired. She giggled and said noooo. She sat me at a table off to the side and I asked her if she sat me there so I didn't scare the rest of the customers. She said "No. You're tall so I gave you a table with more room." The server came over immediately and she was just as sweet as the hostess. I placed my order right away. (See photo). As I waited for the food I went on Yelp to see what I had gotten myself into. I saw spikes of 5 stars and 1 stars. I was baffled by it. When my server came back I asked if she was the owner. She said "No, I've just been here forever." I asked her about the 1 star reviews and learned that this diner had new owners and the previous owner was.... A bit cantankerous. We've eaten here several times over the past few months. Mostly for breakfast. Omelets, pancakes, waffles are all made to order and perfect. This is the first time we've had lunch. I had the Ruben, my wife had the grilled chicken Gyro. The Ruben Rivaled the best deli's in New York City! The Gyro was the real deal. The chicken has excellent Greek spices, the lettuce & tomatoes were fresh and the Tazikki was delicious. If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back into the "sixties diner scene"; this is the place. Plenty of parking, they have a great tribute honoring those who have served and died for our country. Ask for Alex, he has served us several times. For dessert I had the peach pie, which I enjoyed. My wife had the California burrito, which she said was delicious. The toll cost the meal was $43 and that is a reasonable price. My family had plans of eating at another cafe, but with it being the day after Christmas not every business's hours were updated, we happened upon Route 30 Diner by chance because it was the only place with cars in the parking lot. This is a very friendly time capsule of a place with great tasting food. The place is in an original 1950's era Silk City diner along busy Rt 30 just east of Lancaster. Walking into the door is a step back in time with its interior nearly 100% original. I was greeted and seated by a most friendly hostess, whom I later found out was one of the owners. They have a wide choice of food and meals on the menu and very reasonably priced. Service is very efficient and the food comes out almost perfect! I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with gravy and a salad while my mother had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and some coleslaw. Everything was very well proportioned and very tasty. While there, met up with another friend by chance who stopped in for a bowl of vegetable beef soup which he said was very good too. We finished our meal with peach pie and ice cream! I highly recommend this place! When you visit you'll quickly find out it's a favorite of locals and truckers and not so much a touristy destination which is an added plus to the whole experience. read more

I've been driving past this place for decades and just now (during these corona times) finally stopped. First, the wait staff is the right balance of authoritative and warm about Covid precautions, which I appreciate. Second, the food and general feel of this place was exactly what a diner should be. The grilled cheese and bacon sandwich was especially good, hot and well griddled with the right blend of oozey cheese and salty bacon. I wish I were hungrier so could have ordered a burger and shake. I was hardly even in the door of this place and I was badgered by the "hostess". It was my first time entering this establishment. I had been running errands all day. I asked to use the restroom and advised her there would be three for lunch. Luckily; she allowed me to use the restroom. When I came out I asked if I could have a cup of coffee and sit by myself. She proceeded to tell me I had to wait outside and she wasn't holding a table. I asked, "well can I sit at the bar?" She said I could with a major attitude. I told her she needed to be kind. The pancakes were the best diner/restaurant pancakes we've had in years--light and fluffy, not heavy as most restaurant pancakes tend to be. The French toast was also delicious; nice sized portion and also very light. The staff was super friendly and the price very reasonable for a delicious meal.
