Way underrated on yelp. Great stop after a day of hiking - nice patio, fresh food, variety on the menu, decent prices.

It's at the base of UT-150, better known as the Mirror Lake Highway, and it's just what you need when you're headed out for an adventure. I've talked about their connection to the highway before (summary: you can buy a $45 annual pass at their service counter) but I need to give them another shoutout. Over the last five years since my second review, I've been in countless times for pre-camp or pre-hike supplies. You know--the things you forget, or the junky things you get just because. I've stopped here for dinner a few times, but if you get there later than about 4pm, the selection of pre-made sandwiches, deli items, etc is pretty slim. And, to be honest, that's one area where I think they can improve. Not just the selection, but the care and quality that goes into those things. I mean, if I had my druthers, I'd stop at a local restaurant for food, but since I often come through town after dinner time on a Friday night after finishing work for the week, I want to get something quick! The magic is also with the gas station in that regard. I almost always fuel up here, even if I already have a nearly full tank. When I head up and out for 4WD adventures, the last thing I want is to have to turn back because of fuel worries. That little gas station just keeps on providing great drinks and a quick fuel. Add that to a grocery store that can help you grab things you may have forgotten (marshmallows!) and you've got a 1-2 punch that preps you for adventure.

We went because of an article in the Park Record back on June 5-7, 2024. We've been meaning to but…read morejust haven't made it until now. The restaurant is further Park City and Kamas than I expected even having checked on the map before driving, just FYI for those thinking this is near PC. BUT as a local Parkite, I did see people I know also dining there for their Sunday Brunch. We had made a reservation, but I guess if you only do it 1 day in advance it's not on the paper they print out, so they weren't prepared for us. And I don't know if they were shorthanded at 4 staff members on the floor (1 was the owner, 2 were waitresses, 1 was a busser), but we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Despite this, they were all very kind and had good costumer service, just slow. Woodland Biscuit Company is a very small restaurant. During the good weather months they have outdoor seating too, which helps to accommodate more parties. But this is not the place to bring large groups. Of course you come for the biscuits. They offer "first come, first serve" cinnamon roll biscuits but as we were in the late brunch crowd, they were sold out. So we settled on The Messy to split but my son didn't like the granola on top BUT that also didn't stop him from shoving a 1/4 biscuit in his mouth at a time. The rest was good too - eggs and bacon plate (served with a small biscuit), and croquettes madame (on top of a large, flat biscuit).

A long time coming to try Woodland Biscuit. I wish our experience had been better, but now we know…read morethis place is a one and done. Plan on waiting, waiting for them to clean a table, waiting for water (which was Luke warm and disgusting really), waiting for them to take your order, and then waiting for the food. 30 minutes before our order was taken. Once the food came out, two entrees show up, missing two others, then one more came out, still missing mine! I was the last to get my dish. Ugh. We ordered mini biscuits (biscuit cinnamon rolls sold out-bummer), and the beets with yogurt sauce and mini biscuits. The beet dish was not as described on the menu! It was a tostada scrambled egg beet thing, and was just okay. The mini biscuits are delicious, light fluffy, and the jam is divine. The dishes we ordered: Breakfast plate with eggs, bacon and potatoes. They are very skimpy on the potatoes, enough for a toddler, but definitely not an adult. Croque Madam, this was very good. The sauce was excellent, and the biscuit is perfect, but again, very small portion. Biscuit and gravy- amazing sauce, delicious, but any farmer would leave hungry. I got the smoked salmon omelette, small portion, very little salmon, tiny scoop of potatoes. Good flavor, but for the price and the amount of food you get, I'm not sure we will ever come back. I definitely don't recommend going out of your way to come here, because you may be very disappointed like we were. If the wait was quicker, portions were bigger or it was priced better, we would consider coming back. I'm sure they don't need more business so they probably don't mind a less than ideal review.

At the risk of sounding like everyone else (eg "I've driven by a hundred times, finally decided to…read morestop in, wish I had tried it years ago, and so on") I have to report that, um... I have driven by at least a hundred times and finally decided to stop in on a solo trip the other day. Make no mistake, this is a roadhouse pub. The stickers all over the door, the fact that you walk right into the pool table section, and the roadhouse vibe of the decor and several tables along with the big bar. It's not fancy, it's also not decorated to intentionally look like a roadhouse that's not fancy. It's just exactly what it is. It was a lovely summer day so I sat outside. They have a back patio and I did notice that they have a brand new rooftop/deck. The server told me that they only open the deck on the weekends, usually Thursday thru Sunday, when they have enough demand for it. I got the GOAT burger with onion rings. At $19 for the burger and $2 charge for the rings, they're not exactly giving it away. But you're in beef country up here in Kamas (Samak, technically) where the cattle roam up the highway, so you cannot show up with Sysco patties. Nope, these re real beef, really hand-formed, and really fresh. The beef really sings and speaks for itself, but the addition of fresh cut chiles and smooth goat cheese was a really unexpected pleasure. The onion rings were crispy and it all disappeared in a post-hike haze. The service was super friendly. I was a little worried all this time that it was a locals-only type watering hole but they were plenty welcoming to me. I can't say how the drinks or bartender were since that's not my scene, but everything was super quick and hospitable, though I was there at a very not busy in between meals time. It may be that this place sits between two worlds of tourists and locals. I don't think the local scene can support this, as the surrounding population is sparse. It's certainly not going to buy that new deck. But it's also not some tourist trap. It sits in the middle; the food is too good (and priced) for a larger audience, but the day to day probably sees plenty of locals as well as MLH drivers popping in.
