At the risk of sounding like everyone else (eg "I've driven by a hundred times, finally decided to stop in, wish I had tried it years ago, and so on") I have to report that, um... I have driven by at least a hundred times and finally decided to stop in on a solo trip the other day. Make no mistake, this is a roadhouse pub. The stickers all over the door, the fact that you walk right into the pool table section, and the roadhouse vibe of the decor and several tables along with the big bar. It's not fancy, it's also not decorated to intentionally look like a roadhouse that's not fancy. It's just exactly what it is. It was a lovely summer day so I sat outside. They have a back patio and I did notice that they have a brand new rooftop/deck. The server told me that they only open the deck on the weekends, usually Thursday thru Sunday, when they have enough demand for it. I got the GOAT burger with onion rings. At $19 for the burger and $2 charge for the rings, they're not exactly giving it away. But you're in beef country up here in Kamas (Samak, technically) where the cattle roam up the highway, so you cannot show up with Sysco patties. Nope, these re real beef, really hand-formed, and really fresh. The beef really sings and speaks for itself, but the addition of fresh cut chiles and smooth goat cheese was a really unexpected pleasure. The onion rings were crispy and it all disappeared in a post-hike haze. The service was super friendly. I was a little worried all this time that it was a locals-only type watering hole but they were plenty welcoming to me. I can't say how the drinks or bartender were since that's not my scene, but everything was super quick and hospitable, though I was there at a very not busy in between meals time. It may be that this place sits between two worlds of tourists and locals. I don't think the local scene can support this, as the surrounding population is sparse. It's certainly not going to buy that new deck. But it's also not some tourist trap. It sits in the middle; the food is too good (and priced) for a larger audience, but the day to day probably sees plenty of locals as well as MLH drivers popping in. read more

THE NEW ROOFTOP! We had already planned on stopping here after a hike in the Uintas and when we drove by we noticed their brand new rooftop! The rooftop is open until 9, and closes when their kitchen closes. It's such a good vibe, service was great - would highly recommend trying to sit on the rooftop when you visit! It just opened Memorial Day weekend. I got their garden burger and it was really yummy. It wasn't a beyond meat or impossible burger - it was made with veggies and was delicious! Fries are $2 extra and they were good. It's a little on the pricey side, I believe my burger and fries came out to $20? They have sun shades up to block the sun, and went it went down it was the perfect temp. Can't wait to stop by again after visiting the Uintas! read more

We took a drive out to enjoy this cute town of Kamas. The Notch Pub has an old pub feel with a nice outdoor area for dining. The service was slow but the food was good. I gave it a 4 star but that may be generous. It has potential but seemed lacking today on service. Our group had fish tacos, fish sandwich and an old fashion grilled cheese with bacon. read more

I love The Notch after a long hike in the Uintas. The food is delicious - the Mac and cheese is a must! Their options of burgers are so good and then smoke them there at the restaurant. First time to this restaurant and we will never go back. So, so disappointed! The views of the top deck were beautiful but the food was almost inedible. My husband got a burger and it was so dry--meat was dry, no sauce or mayo at all, and flavorless. I got the Mahi Fish Tacos and I could only eat one of three. They tasted like greasy fish nuggets from a fast food joint in a tortilla. The slaw was a free steps of red cabbage and the sauce didn't have good flavor. The sweet potato fries were so crispy you couldn't eat them. We both let the swarming bees eat our food it was that bad. So sad as we were hoping to find somewhere we could frequent often. It's been on the list since the days it was a 21+ bar. Unlike some other places that did the change to a restaurant license, they did not change anything else. This is a true roadhouse inside. The patio is fantastic. The service was exceptional. However, it's the food where they really step things up. You know when they are using Haddock for the fish in the fish and chips and use a real Amorosso rolls for the cheesesteak this is going to be something special. It was. My wife and I used to love this place. In the past year, it's becoming overrun with loud, rude, obnoxious tourists. We thought we would try the off season, only to be chased away from an otherwise empty patio by a group in golf shirts and Hawaiian blouses that were shouting and demanded to interrupt our dinner. Great location, decent food.... HOORIBLE ambiance (unless you like rich old people shouting at you) p.s. Google wouldn't publish this because apparently bad reviews don't make them money. read more

Take the nachos off the menu! I've been wanting to stop by there, sorry I did. No cheese on the nachos, very tiny bit of some gross orange sauce, vinegary red squirt of something that I never tasted on anything especially nachos. No guacamole. Very stale chips. Gross cooked leftover burger that was cold and broken up on top of the canned tomatoes. I can't believe they even served those to us. Nachos are easy to make and really hard to screw up. Their nachos are Discusting. I watched all this great food go by feeling sorry for myself ordering this poor quality horrible meal. $23 for crap! Seriously crap! Take it off the menu if you can't make something as easy as nachos. BTW. Nachos have cheese on them, Google it! Worst nachos ever! Don't order them, you'll be sorry and still hungry because they are not edible. Ick! read more

Excellent!! Great stop!! Nice and a usual. We sat outside (memorial day weekend) - We were touring Kamas and local area. Some local friends have told us to stop there for the wings -- and they were great...we got Thai and barbecue style as well as the queso cheese (it was devine) with homemade chips!! We ordered 2 vegetable quesadillas... which were all hot and fresh. We also got several kito amber beers. There was a new server name Tarra, she was awesome and very attentive. We all commented on how important a good server is and she was great!! I begged to take a picture of her so we could memorialize our visit and thank her for being so great! read more

We pass this little joint every time we head into the Uintas but never stopped in. Of all the times to dine at a restaurant, we finally dropped in. They were closing in 15 but let us take the only outdoor table in the front (Covid safe). Our server wore a bandana and was super chill. The pilsner hit the spot after our 4- hour hike. So did the Philly sandwich and fries. The fries and service were great. The sandwich could have used more meat and green peppers (they used green chilis only) as it was all bun. Their Covid hours are a bit wonky so check on your way to your hike while you still have cell reception so you aren't disappointed when you stop back later. We'll definitely use this as a place to end the day with a toast. They have free wifi too! read more

What a fun off the road place...definitely a pub, but I was pleasantly surprise at how good everything was. And service was good too, thanks Carson! Their chicken caesar wrap was really good and so was their cross cut sweet potato fries. Hubby had the burger with coleslaw and said it was good to. After a day on the reservoir, we hunted for a place to eat and this menu looked intriguing. We sat out on the patio which was very dog friendly and needed a place we could take the pup. What a nice little family pub practically in the wilderness! I've been camping up in the Wasatch and Unita mountains for years and always passed by this restaurant. Finally got a chance to stop in. Ordered nachos (lots of cheese sauce), burger (really good), and Philly cheesesteak ( a bit too much salt). And got two small buckets of fries ( which could have been a meal itself). It is a pub, so beer and liquor is available. Service was fast and adequate. And I read a flyer that says they have live music on certain weekends. Definitely worth a stop in once in a while. read more

Location and building gets a 4 out of 5! The food a 3/5. None of us were super impressed by our food, it wasn't bad but wasn't food we would come back for. We will come back to try other things we just wouldn't order what we did. I included pics (potstickers, fish and chips, chicken tostadas, sweet potato fries, and bbq bacon burger) the burger was by far the best part but everything else we could do without! It's an awesome atmosphere though with great music and I love how the pool table is separate from the bar and food area. I've been wanting to come here for a while. It so convenient for stopping by on your way from Mirror Lake Highway. It's a very cute log cabiney place and while it has a bar vibe, it's not overly so. We were seated very promptly, which was nice because they were clearly very busy (blaming the Utes game earlier in the day). I ordered a porter in a can and while the beer was good, that first sip had a soapy taste from the glass. It did go away after a bit. My friend ordered a veggie burger and coleslaw; she loved the coleslaw but said the burger was a little charred. I had the grilled cheese but the cheese itself was a bit bland. Either that or it was overpowered by the bacon. The crinkle fries, on the other hand, were crisp perfection. I just wished the server had stopped by to check on us. I really kind of wanted fry sauce or an aioli but had to settle for ketchup already at the table. We paid our tab and I was finishing my beer. Then two people showed up to our table and said, "we were told to sit here." I was a tad confused but then understood that our server probably thought we had both gotten up when my friend asked about the restroom. I was happy to relinquish the table but then the two folks were left to sit there with our dirty dishes. It was a bit odd. I really hope the staff read this review because I want to come back in winter and these items are very easy to fix! read more

Great burgers in the middle of nowhere. Very clean, warm bar, pool tables and good food not sure what else you would want. Wife had the mac and cheese and I had the ribs. Ribs are smoked in house and I highly recommend both of these dishes. Also be sure to get the Cornbread. What a great spot! read more

I had driven by Notch for a couple years, never stopping by. Finally, a little over a year ago I took the chance with my (adult) family. It felt as if we were walking into Cheers. Many long timers come frequently, and we are now one of them. We particularly like that this is a BAR, so there generally are some good conversations going on (along with a lot of TVs) and could be peppered with some usually milder colorful language. It isn't somewhere I would take my very young children, but I haven't seen any poor results while I was there and there were young kids. We particularly get a kick out of: Cherie, Kirby, Brittany, and Jimmy. GREAT folks and always make us feel at home. BTW, we love the food, too. Now, for a not so good item. We were there with a family who apparently did not realize they were in a BAR, and complained about some language they heard. read more

Stopped into this place because of the old motorcycle decor outside of the bar. I saw the signboard that said "Bikers Welcome" and it sounded like my kinda place. I walked in and felt instantly at home. Multiple pool tables, country music overhead, and a country at-home feel. This little bar that's nestled off the beaten path has some of the best food in Kamas! They smoke their own ribs and wings and have some of the best burgers. "The Goat" burger is hands down the best burger I've ever eaten. This little bar has a great patio that they allow dogs on, so bring your furry companion! They'll make sure there is water for him. And I came on a Saturday night and there was live music! This place is awesome. read more

I used to love going here for food and a drink. Lately I don't know what changed but it's a huge let down. We ordered our food to go and I didn't get my side that comes with it. And without shaking the box or anything I open it and find my BLT basically falling apart. The bread was soggy, the lettuce was wilted and the tomatos weren't ripe yet as well as having only one piece of bacon cut in half on each piece. Super bummed out. We also order the BBQ bacon burger well done and when my boyfriend bit into it the center was bright red. We ended up putting his burger back on the grill at home. It took me about 15 minutes to get someone's attention to order our food which was annoying as there was only about 10 people in the bar. read more

I didn't go into the Notch Pub expecting great food. It's a bar located in a fairly remote area near the mountains of Utah. The Notch Pub reminded me of bars in my home state of Wisconsin located "Up North." A designation having less to do with direction, and more to do with a small town, north woods, Paul Bunyanesque culture. The bartender was friendly, cute, and accommodating. The Notch Pub clientele didn't engage us, but we were at the far end of the bar, and this is a local hangout, that also caters to tourists heading up to Mirror Lake. I'm sure if we show up a couple of times on a Friday or Saturday night when Notch's has music, the down to earth patrons will be plenty talkative. Beer and cocktails adhere to state law in Utah, so judgment is unnecessary. Notch's is not a mixology joint, and it shouldn't be. We did order some bar food, and it tasted fine; just what I expected. I will return to Notch's, and I will have fun. read more
