Great burger joint in Lancaster Pa! Best part is they're Zabihah halal! I'm from NYC so we're spoiled with many halal burger options but this restaurant did not disappoint! We loved the food! We ordered a few cheeseburgers and cheesesteaks and both were delicious. The burgers were well seasoned and juicy. Portion size was huge! The curly fries were perfectly seasoned but the kids liked their home fries and onion rings the best. My daughter ordered the cold turkey bacon sub and finished the entire sub by herself, it was that good. Decor is cute but it's a small place so sort of difficult for them to accommodate parties bigger than 10. Staff and service was great. It's street parking only but not difficult to find. Will definitely go back for a quick lunch if ever in the area again. read more

Stopped at Route 66 on a whim not long ago and I was blown away by the best burger in Lancaster. After telling the wife about it I finally got her and the kids there to give it a try. The kids got chicken tenders and fries...amateurs...and we got the Nashville chicken sandwich and a double burger with some curly fries and onion rings on the side. The chicken tenders were hand breaded and so tender and tasty. The burger was just as awesome as the first time I had it. The real star of this trip was the Nashville spicy chicken sandwich. Sweet Mary Margaret!! It's like baby Jesus himself slapped me in the back of the face!!! The level of spice was perfect (hot was probably 6/10 level spicy), the chicken breast was HUGE and the toppings perfectly complemented the level of spice. Where this sandwich really destroyed was the flavor. I don't know what kind of sorcery went into the sauce, but well done...absolutely well done sir. 5 stars isn't enough for Route 66. Food is really good and priced very reasonably. My wife had a cheeseburger and I had the Tandori chicken sandwich. She loved the cheeseburger as it had that crisp exterior but the interior meat was very juicy and flavorful. My Tandori chicken has a great flavor with a slow heat that starts to build up. Thankfully I was able to refill drinks at the soda machine. We also ordered the house fries which were definitely hand cut and delicious. Was in the neighborhood and knew ownership had changed recently so we went to check out the new Route 66. Upon entry I immediately noticed the new paint job and route 66 décor. Even the tables had route 66 stickers on which I found to be unsanitary and already peeling. Never the less we placed our orders for take out. The menu was more limited than I expected. We ordered two cheeseburgers. They were thin but cooked properly and had a nice flavor but the bun was of cheap store bought variety that was soggy by the time we dove into our meals. We also were missing the side that should have come with it - chips I believe, and were still hungry. For the price, a little shy of $5 each, I found the price to be high for what I got. The size and quality were equal to something off McDonald's value menu. Service was good and friendly but for the price and considering the parking in that area would just go to McDonalds instead. read more

The Route 66 Restaurant in Lancaster PA on the corner of West Liberty Street and North Prince Street (US 222) We live in Maryland, and have paid quite a few visits to this place in recent months. The main reason for this is because the owners, are wonderful folks, and they take great pride in everything they do for their customers. Because of our diet, Anna and I ordered Falafel Wraps instead of their amazing burgers, but at the time, they only had enough for one order. Do you know that the owner went to their home to retrieve more falafel to bring back to the restaurant so that they could fulfill our order. How awesome is that?!!! :-) And we had such a great time chatting with them after our meal too. So, if you want some great burgers (and I mean GREAT BURGERS) or if you want to live on the edge and try Falafel wraps , go see our friends up in Lancaster at the Route 66 Restaurant. My wife and I showed up to this place to eat a few days ago, and when we walked in we noticed that the floor was dirty, the tables were dirty. The place looked like it had been pretty busy during the day and the staff didn't have any time to clean up. The staff was friendly, took our orders correctly, which was great. The food however, was underwhelming. My wife and I both had cheeseburgers there and we both thought they could have been better. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, but there were no other people inside the restaurant eating, which could have been due to the fact that we came in about 30 minutes before closing time. We drove by again this week during lunch time and noticed no one in the restaurant. The owner said they had been open for 5 weeks. Probably still working out the kinks. read more
