Sandwiches are some of the best in Lancaster. I have had a few of their specialty steaks and each has been very generous in the contents. Steak is always tender and well seasoned. The pastrami and corned beef options have been consistent - thinly sliced, tender and tasty. Tried the Pittsburgh steak - excellent. There had to be a full serving of fries on top, but the steak was still abundant. Many times other places will have the "extras" lessen the base, but not in this case. OMG one of the best cheesesteaks I have had in years. The steak was tender and succulently delicious. The provolone literally melted in my mouth. Such a delightful sensory experience. Unbelievable! Been a customer since they were downtown--like 15 years. Called up for a tuna sub and they told me they only had enough for a small. I needed a large to share with my wife before she left for work. I was in a hurry, I said no thanks and hung up. While I was calling another place (that doesn't have a problem keeping a staple on hand). The owner called me back to yell at me. He said I hung up on the person taking the order and said I was "not nice". If you can't keeping something in stock that doesn't expire for like 2 years, maybe learn to expect customers that aren't super polite. Instead of losing an order for the day, he's now lost a customer who brought in about $600 annually. There's plenty of fish in the sea! read more

Someone recommended I try The Grill and many of these reviews are positive so we stopped in on a whim. Never again. The cleanliness needs improvement. This place is dirty, specifically the floors and tables not clean. There were no lids available for fountain drinks so we couldn't take them with us when we left - which turned out to be fine as we didn't want to anyway - the Coca Cola was watery. The other drink was literally water. The counter clerk said they would let someone know when I explained to her and that was that. We were never offered a new cup to get another soda - that was actually soda- that I paid for, and not just water. During the time we were there - no one dealt with the empty dispenser. The food was unimpressive and that's the best I can say. The steak sandwich was mostly an empty roll and lettuce. With a tiny amount of Steak 'Um meat. I believe that's what was used for their steak meat, as it's pretty distinctive. The chicken sandwich (not fried chicken) was so greasy I was glad to have fries to cut the fat. We ate the fries and pretty much tossed the rest. Prices are FAR too high for this low quality. Will not go back. read more

As a truck driver I rely on to go food every day. After making deliveries all day I like to wash my hands before I eat. When I arrived to pick up my food I found that the bathroom was closed for customer use. I asked if they had a seperate sink for me to wash my hands. They did not. What is even worse was the sign they put up saying they closed the bathroom for my safety. How is preventing cleanliness during a pandemic safe? Word on the street is that this eatery is owned by one of the former owners of The Campus Grill, a place that has since closed. I dined there once and three things stuck with me about that experience; the nice shredded lettuce, the abundance of sandwich choices, and the dirty floor. When Campus closed the former owners separately opened the Grille and also Eat, another eatery which is one of our favorites. All three places serve(d) a cheesesteak with a fried egg on top that is delicious. The Grille, for which this review is for, also serves the same delicious fried egg on top of a cheese steak which is one of hubby's personal favorites. They also seemed to take the abundant sandwich menu with them. I had one of their hot sandwiches last night, served with that nicely shredded lettuce. The location is a little hard to find the first time as it's located in small shopping annex beside Walmart. Overall it was much cleaner than the former Campus. I liked the New York inspired artwork and our meals came out fast. Pretty much this new location with it's new name is the same as Campus, same menu, only a different location, name, and cleaner. So if you miss Campus hit up the Grille for the same. read more

Verdict: Off the main road but the secret is getting out. This Grille is hopefully here to stay. I got the South Philly with chicken breast, sharp provolone, grilled green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. I also got a small order of fries. I couldn't imagine what a large order of fries might look like. There was more than enough and I might not have finished them and the sandwich had I not been fasting for the better part of a day. The sandwich was certainly a good one. It reminded me of a chicken cheesesteak I used to get on South Street in Philly. The provolone wasn't all that sharp but it was nicely melted. I really appreciated the chicken being real chopped chicken, instead of the chopped up frozen slabs you get at some sandwich chains. I'll have to go back and try a normal cheesesteak but I think it's a safe bet that you'll get a pretty good sandwich here, no matter what you pick. There's some push back on them using a normal marinara sauce for the steak sandwich but I'll hold my opinion until I try that one myself. read more

I've had a hot sandwich that was had perfect sauce to cheese to protein ratio. Easy to park, easy to order, and plenty of indoor seating if needed. Their chip selection is the only thing subpar - barely any variety. Sandwiches are worth it though. You can call your order in ahead for take-out. read more

Sandwich Menu is extensive and clever. You may want to look it up ahead of getting there to avoid staring at a huge sandwich menu posted over everyone's head while they watch you, waiting for your order. My chicken salad sandwich was bland, likely just lacking some salt and pepper. This was formerly a favorite, I may need to find a new favorite option. Fries were fresh cut and fried well. I'm also a pickle person, and while these were crunchy garlicky good, they leaked all over the other items in the takeout bag because they were stuffed into loosely open sandwich type baggies (Covid--no dine in option currently). Partners hot pastrami sandwich on rye looked tasty, with thousand island dressing spilling over the bread. He mentioned that the rye flavor was less than anticipated.... I honestly had one of the best Cheesesteaks ever, at The Grille. The prices are super reasonable and they have an extensive menu with all types of hot/cold sandwiches. They also have a unique soda fountain with "craft" soda flavors such as Black Cherry, Birch, Orange Cream, etc. The French fries are delicious. The Madison square garden (chicken and provolone with lettuce tomato and grilled onion) which I had today was a stunner - filled with nicely grilled chicken and all the fixings with a perfect roll. The Manheim is killer, with two friend eggs on top of the cheesesteak...although afterwards I felt an Anaconda that ate a baby deer. Didn't need dinner that night! Used to frequent this place when it was on Harrisburg Ave--quality has gone down. I speak only of the service and the cheesesteak, I have never had any cold cuts here. The service was really truly terrible; aside from the speed of service once someone finally appeared to take our order. Stood at the register 5 solid minutes before some knucklehead emerges from the back with no "sorry about the wait," just a "what do you want." The sandwiches came out relatively quickly. The cheesesteak used to be the best in Lancaster but the meat really needs some work. No seasoning, mostly just greasy tasting. The bun and whiz to meat ratio however are both A+ still. Since moving to Lancaster county, I've been deprived of a good cheesesteak. I'm a Philly girl and cannot wrap my head around how places around here drench the cheesesteaks in marinara sauce. It was bad enough to see signs wrap your face up in a mask everywhere they have their chairs up on top of the tables they don't want nobody in their dining room and they have no no mask on themselves in there so there was the beginning of a bad experience to this place.
