A trip to Boston would not be complete without seafood, I stopped by Row 34 for a quick solo dinner while I was in the area. On a busy weekend night, I was able to get a seat at the bar. Started off with the clam chowder which was solid, although I felt that the bacon and creamy slightly overpowered the clams. I got myself a warm lobster roll which was very decadent. The lobster meat was very fresh and simply seasoned. The portion was larger than expected but I really appreciated the generous serving of the lobster and the seafood to bread ratio. The side chips were also crunchy and nicely seasoned. Staff were polite; food came out at a reasonable time. The dim lighting made it a vibey, intimate place for a dinner. I definitely want to try their raw bar and other dishes next time I'm back in Boston!

The freshest seafood in town. I love the Row oysters very much, the freshness out of the sea. Lobster roll with clam chowder as the best combo. Tuna crude on top of the black garlic aioli sauce was a delightful cold plate!

Food and service are consistently good here. Ordered a few raw oysters, asparagus salad and crabcake - made for a delicious lunch. Love the vibes here- upscale industrial chic.

Must be for the trendy, with-it crowd. Our bell man, and uber driver were unfamiliar with this restaurant but this eatery was packed. I had called in for reservations but was told walk in. When we arrived the receptionist said you wouldn't believe we got busy all of a sudden. We were quoted a 15 minute wait time. Before we arrived in Boston I had read Yelp Elite, Peter N's review and was intrigued. Our 2 nd night in Boston I told hubs let's try Row 34. I found out that our flight attendant stays in Seaport where this is located and supposedly 7 minutes from our hotel. Let's go! We had the pleasure of having Jackie as our server. She was sure an enjoyable person to ask for recommendations of crab cake or a lettuce appetizer. She checked up on us, poured us refills from our large still water bottle. She was great. Hubs ordered two starters: clam chowder and squash. I also ordered starters: crab cake, calamari, cornbread and iced coffee. The calamari was excellent, the batter so light, crispy and it melted in my mouth. I used the dip that accompanied it. The cornbread was like a dessert with maple butter, sweet in a good way. Delicious and large like a round shaped pie. My iced coffee hit the spot- enjoyed it tremendously. After a 12 hour tour to Martha's Vineyard it was a welcomed pick me up. As soon as one party left, another one occupied their table. If you are a seafood lover you will enjoy eating here. I saw one chicken entree, no beef but oysters, lobster MP and more they have it.

After reading reviews of Row 34, I knew I wanted to try it the next time we were in Boston. We got the opportunity during our recent visit. We would like to know if we should try the one in the Seaport area or the one in Kenmore Square. Our hotel was in the Seaport area, and the local Row 34 was about a half a mile down the street from the hotel. We chose to walk to that one rather than take the T to Kenmore Square. The restaurant was practically in Downtown Boston. It's located in a former warehouse that has been converted for other uses. Row 34 is on the first floor. The interior still retains its industrial vibe, complete with old wooden support beams and exposed brick walls. We went for an early dinner and were greeted and seated immediately. Our server came along shortly. We knew what we wanted and gave him our order. My husband chose to start with clam chowder, and we both opted for buttered lobster rolls as our main course. To drink, my husband got Athletic non-alcoholic beer while I got a glass of Coke. The one hiccup with the service involved the server bringing my husband his drink but not bringing mine. I asked him where my soda was, but, apparently, the server didn't hear me. When the server brought my husband's clam chowder, I asked again about my soda. The server admitted that he had forgotten about it and quickly corrected his mistake. My husband enjoyed his clam chowder; it was served with what seemed to be a homemade cracker. We both liked the lobster rolls, which had New England-style rolls. One thing we both agreed on was that the rolls could have used a little more butter, as they were a bit dry. Otherwise, the lobster was properly cooked. This dish comes with house-made potato chips, which we both enjoyed. Plus a side of coleslaw accompanies the meal. The coleslaw was good, nothing fancy. Just splendid in its simplicity. Service, regarding our main courses, was on the slow side but not so bad as to be annoying. We're glad we came and would return next time we're in town.

The lobster roll is too die for albeit hella pricey. But when in New England..... I got it twice during my visit. Your belly will thank you even if your wallet will not. Also don't miss out on the desert! The pudding was delish! Docking one point bc service my first time was meh.

Solid 4. We got the crispy halibut, fried oyster po boy and clam chowder. The crispy halibut was like fish and chips style so it threw us off. Wasn't expecting fried battered halibut. We were expecting crispy grilled halibut. Would not get that again. The po boy was good. Can't go wrong with fried oysters. I ate mostly fried foods for lunch and dinner for three days straight and I was kinda over it after day 3. The star of the meal was of course the clam chowder. That's their thing so can't go wrong with some chowder.

My friends and I came here on a girls trip and have heard a lot of great things about Row 34! The restaurant is very cute and it was very popular on a Friday night. Our server suggested starting with an assortment of oysters, which were all very fresh and tasty! We also got the bread rolls, which I was pretty disappointed by- they were dry and harder than I expected them to be. For my main I opted for the lobster roll with came with warm lobster and a soft roll. The lobster roll was fabulous but for the price, I was expecting more lobster!

We had seafood etagere for lunch. The presentation was amazing! Seafood in East Coast, especially Boston, the best! Lobster, oyster, clams, super! Liked grey and charcoal grey decos with light bulbs. Even if in winter it might give too cold atmosphere. Service was excellent!

I was told this was the place to try my first lobster roll in New England. Even though this place is a chain, it's highly regarded. There were some other spots I could have tried my first but I waited patiently for this reservation. I can assure you, it was well worth the wait. Walking in, we were seated at what looked like bar seating, facing the kitchen. There were counter seats as well but we were sat at the high tables across from those. The ambiance in here is nice. It's clean, modern and a pretty place to hang out at. Our server was alright, albeit a bit aloof. He wasn't unfriendly but you could tell he couldn't care less about us. He came by to check on us alright. I wasn't impressed. The food and cocktails were really, really good though. That lobster roll was EXPENSIVE but delicious and I'd order it again and again if I could. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips and the oysters we shared were fresh and delicious.

What a beautiful spot. There is seating inside and outside. Located by lots of nice parking garages (walkable). Seats are a bit uncomfortable, as they are metal slats. Quality of the food, both the raw and regular was IMMACULATE. A lil pricey. Note that the lobster is market price (MP), so make sure that you ask. The hostess marked up a menu just for us, as someone in our party is GF. Which was really nice, instead of just verbalizing it. Waitress was very attentive & bar tender was as well.

Great atmosphere- chowder exceeded obscene expectations, cornbread was excellent, service was polite, welcoming. I will try to eat here again on my short trip. I saw some kind of pie go by....

5 Star experience - excellent tasting food. So delicious. We're coming back before we leave. The service was outstanding. We had to change our reservation 3x to accommodate more people. The staff was amazing and ensured our group was cared for. I forgot to take pics of all our dishes. The mussels were sweet and tasty. Ver mellow flavor. The crab cakes were delicious. I shared the lobster roll with a colleague. We ordered the creamy and the buttered. They split it in half and plated a half of each for us. Best lobster roll I've ever had, hands down. I prefer the buttery lobster but you can't go wrong with either choice.

What is the avg wait time on Saturday night for walk in's? At 6:30pm. Any chance it's less than 2…

Depending on how many people. Bar tables probably have less wait time or you can make a reservation.

How is the business operating during Covid? What safety measures are they taking? Are they offering sit down dining or curbside pickup?

There's indoor and outdoor sitting area.

Why does this say vegan options I don't see any?

Butter or creamy lobster roll? Both sound so good. Anyone tried both?

While it's a matter of personal taste and both are terrific, the butter has the lead for us. Both my wife and I are in that camp. Butter is, well, ... better.

    Easy to find parking?

It's very hard to find parking in the Seaport.

What days and times are their happy hours?

Hello Paige! We do not offer happy hour here at Row 34 in Boston, however our sister location in… Read more

Are there any vegan options here?

They are super accommodating but there are not many vegan options

What would be appropriate to wear here on a Friday nigh?

It's casual dress. We were there on Sunday night in jeans and t-shirt.

Is there a bar that I can eat at solo?

    Yes for sure

    How noisy is it really?

Pretty noisy inside (if it's a busy night), but outside in the covered area is quiet.

    Are there options for vegetarians?

There's a few but not many. This is almost exclusively a seafood restaurant. They have avocado toast and an arugula salad as options, that's about it.

Unless you wanna wait an hour or so, it's best to arrive 30min before they open to beat the rush. It's incredibly cramped and rushed inside, and you may need to share a table with others if you're a smaller party. Food is quite pricey but well worth it. We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.

We walked into a small, cozy dining room with a marble bar and a bustling atmosphere that creates the feeling of a classic neighborhood oyster bar, the kind of place where the energy of the room is as much a part of the experience as the food itself. Despite its popularity, the restaurant has built a reputation for serving some of the city's best oysters and lobster rolls, and the intimate setting adds to the sense of occasion. The seafood is the main reason to visit. The raw oyster selection changes regularly and includes a wide variety of East and West Coast oysters, with a menu that describes the flavor profile of each one to make choosing easier. We ordered a mix and found each oyster fresh and clean, with distinct brininess and texture that reflected the descriptions. The hot buttered lobster roll is the restaurant's signature dish, served overflowing with chunks of fresh lobster tossed in warm butter inside a toasted roll, and the richness of the butter paired perfectly with the sweetness of the meat. The traditional cold lobster roll with mayonnaise is equally popular if you prefer something lighter, and the clam chowder is another standout, with a creamy base and generous chunks of clam that made it one of the better versions we have had. The Johnnycake topped with oysters and smoked sturgeon is one of the restaurant's most unique dishes, combining textures and flavors in a way that felt distinct from the more classic options. Everything feels carefully prepared, with an emphasis on high-quality seafood rather than overly complicated flavors. The menu also includes fresh fish, shellfish, and daily specials, making it worth exploring beyond the restaurant's most famous items. Portions are generous, especially when it comes to the lobster dishes, though the prices reflect both the quality of the ingredients and the restaurant's popularity. The biggest thing to plan around is the wait. Neptune Oyster does not take reservations, and lines often begin forming well before opening. The restaurant is also quite small, so seating is limited and tables are close together. Visiting early in the day or dining as a smaller party can sometimes reduce the wait, but it is still worth expecting some time in line before being seated. Neptune Oyster remains one of Boston's essential seafood destinations. The fresh oysters, exceptional lobster roll, and intimate oyster bar atmosphere make it a memorable experience, even if getting a table requires some patience. If you are looking for classic New England seafood and do not mind waiting, it is easy to see why this restaurant has become one of the city's most iconic dining spots.
