After spending a beautiful afternoon at Fenway watching my Metsies narrowly escaping defeat, I needed to chow down pronto. I managed to go the whole game without getting a Fenway Frank so I can save my appetite for something special since I'm in Boston. Word around town is you have to have a lobster roll, and I have been craving one forEVER. This is a safe space, right? Great because I've never had a lobster roll before. So all that talk about craving one was a LIE. Just didn't want you to judge me. Nevertheless, I decided to have my first lobster roll ever at Row 34. Now since I have zero experience when it comes to this delicacy, I will give you some insight based on the opinions of my party who apparently are lobster roll connoisseurs. 1) These have a lot more lobster than normal rolls, and are quite hefty. 2) We all ordered the warm buttered version, and lobster rolls can be served warm or cold. 3) They were a bit pricey ($42) but see the first point if you're questioning why. 4) Me love lobster rolls now. The fourth one I added on my own because it's true. The only downside is because this was most likely the best lobster roll I'll ever have, I am pretty much guaranteed to be disappointed leading me to rot in lobster roll purgatory. Pro tip: substitute the chips for steak fries. And order the substance IPA. read more

This is an amazing place! They are popular for their lobster roll and it did not disappoint at all. It was very tasteful while keeping the bread soft and not soggy. Best side dish: fries. While the potato chips were nothing different, the french fries were extraordinary. Oysters were also a winning treat. The fish and chips was also great. I liked the portion size, was more than enough. Lastly, I'd like to give credit to their ceviche. I was a bit curious when I saw it in the menu. Having tried many peruvian and mexican versions, it made me wonder. When we tried it, it was delightfully different. I didn't think cucumber had a place in ceviche, but it worked! Row 34 is an absolute delight, providing upscale seafood dining with tons of options from oysters, to cocktails, to fish that's as fresh as it gets. What you'll find is tough seating options on weekends, and an open space where reservations are most likely preferred. For small groups of 1-2, you can easily get bar seating and steadfast service in this cozy, dimly lit restaurant that is often packed. The surprise of the evening was Hake ($34), a white meat fish that is seldom seen on menus, and similar to cod and haddock. What is unique about them is that while they are seen as bottom fish that are usually flaky and delicious, their ability to be found at extraordinary depths is no stranger to the average fisherman. The meat and dish itself? Superb. The Hake is crusted on top, ample in size, with softened carrots, onions and not-so-spicy peppers that give it a little twist alongside the green sauce reduction. I could not have found a better meal that was fresher than ever, and as flaky as can be. As a patron, you will find that there is a kitchen appreciation fee added to your bill before tax at 3.5%, so this may be important to note. Great corner location in the seaport area, Row 34 is loft open style decor, very inviting. The menu has great seafood options it's hard to decide which plates you would prefer. You can tell from the taste of the food that the chefs love people, the chicken biscuit sliders had the perfect crunch, softness and flavor. The oyster slider was so deliciously good, the warm lobster was perfection and chunky. The oysters from the raw bar melted in the mouth, it was sweet tender deliciousness. The Tuna Curdo had very rich flavor that paired well with the tuna, food heaven in your mouth. The clam chowder was perfect temperature, flavor, texture and ingredients loved it. Highly recommend the rosemary butter honey biscuit, it's perfect for dessert. Staff here were very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Had an amazing lunch experience here today. We didn't have a reservation and there was about a 20mins wait. We were seated on the patio that had heat and was covered. We ordered crab cake and calamari for starters. And they were a delight, very fresh and nicely made. For entrees, we had an order of buttered lobster roll which came with a side of the most delicious and freshly made yucca chips. Lobster roll itself was divine. Crab fried rice was perfect, lots of vegetables and loads of crab meat and with the sunny side egg on top - it was heavenly good! Pesto pasta with shrimp was spectacular. Incredibly popular seafood restaurant on Congress St, we were seated at a high top, 30 minutes after our reservation for Row34. The place is a huge, hopping upscale but casual with an excellent raw bar selection. There were 12 oyster selections. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I was not familiar with the oysters beyond not wanting them briny and her recommendations were spot on. They had the typical seafood bar menu - fish and chips, fried oysters, ceviche and an extensive beer and wine selection. They ran out of rolls and she recommended the rosemary with honey butter biscuits which were quite yummy! Came here since we heard it's a must try for our first time visiting Boston. We got 3 lobster rolls and a fish and chips. The fish and chips were terrible. The fish itself just did not taste good. U gave this feedback to my server and he didn't acknowledge it. He also selected 18% tip for himself on the screen, which i don't think should be done. I flew in and heard a lot about this place. I was seated promptly. My server was John and he was training Harrison. They were very nice and helpful. The ambiance was a little loud but okay. It's on the dark side. They came out and apologized for the delay in bringing out our cooked order but we didn't mind because we were still busy tackling the shellfish tower. You can smell the ocean! It's so fresh and yummy! They brought out the grilled fish and it was delicious. We forgot to order cornbread and John came and brought it over quickly. The best cornbread we ever had!!! He encouraged us to order the biscuit and, my gosh, he did not lead us astray! The food was wonderful. We had high hopes for Row 34, but warm buttered lobster roll we ordered just fell flat. It had NO seasoning whatsoever, it needed salt or something and is definitely NOT worth $29. The fresh potato chips that came with it were cooked perfectly. We asked our server who was cool, between the fish & chips or the lobster roll, and she said definitely the lobster roll, hmmmm. Anywho, the cocktail drink choice, was not really there or impressive. Basically, what you see is what you get on the menu, they can't make any custom drinks. Overall, this place is alright, and that is all it will get from me. Maybe they have other food items that are good, but what we ordered, wasn't. Also- they tell you that they'll validate parking at 5pm, but our reservation was at 5 and no one seemed to understand that we would've been late if we waited to park at 5 and they refused to validate it. My family and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and today was finally the day! We had a fantastic experience every step of the way. The restaurant sits in an open, industrial setting. Every staff member we interacted with provided fantastic service. We started with the raw bar, which we could watch being prepared and tasted very fresh. We then had lunch entrees of fish sandwiches, tuna melt, and fish tacos each dish was delicious. As someone with celiac they were able to accommodate my allergy and offered gluten free bread, pasta, and accommodations as needed. This was my first experience having a roll, people said this was the best place since it offered hot and cold choices and several other seafood items. This was a great recommendation to say the least. You can order shrimp per each along with many choices of oysters. We ordered 2 shrimp, the hot lobster roll and the hot biscuit. The shrimp were huge and so great flavor. The roll came with coleslaw and homemade chips. The roll was hot buttered and was very plentiful. It had a great taste, not at all what I thought a hot roll would be like. We split the roll and so on, we did not leave hungry at all. The biscuit was huge and had honey and rosemary butter on it. Oh my goodness, it was beyond amazing. The establishment is very big inside and the staff are great at giving recommendations and explaining the menu. What a great find on our trip. This was my first experience trying a lobster roll in Boston/New England area. I tried the warm butter lobster roll and it was good. The sides were decent, but nothing special. If I had to be honest, I thought the lobster roll would be mindblowing, especially for the heftly price I was paying for it ($42). It was buttery and tender and the bread was toasted but that's about it, quite a lackluster experience. I'm sure I could have tried the same type of lobster roll with the same quality in the area below the current of this price.
