This place was the last dinner we had while visiting Boston. So glad we chose it. It has a different, very cool vibe as soon as you walk in. Fresh seafood starting at you as you walk in. Industrial but dark contemporary design is super cool. We had 3 different types of fresh oysters. Not sure what they were called, but they were amazing! So many to choose from. We also had the warm lobster rolls. First time lobster roller here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. They were good. I would go back and eat the oysters every day if I could afford that. Amazing bb
We visited for lunch and after trying a few items, my rec is to go for the oysters and the crudo. Aunt Dotty was my personal favorite and I wish we'd gotten more. I think there was a glitch with our order because the apps came out fast and then there was a super long wait and then our starter course came with the meal. It felt really rushed and half the food arrived cold. Tuna app was excellent. Chowder was chewy and did not deliver on flavor. Fried oysters were ok. Fried fish was also ok but the breading fell right off which made it greasy and messy.
Row 34 was mid. Server was nice enough, though not overly friendly. The vibe was good and it's more casual than one would think. They have the Christina Grüner Veltliner, which is always a favorite, so I was pleased with that. The shrimp cocktail were fine, but gone are the sweet, succulent, briny of my youth, and now we just have these bland shrimp. Jonah crab claws had no flavor and I ended up not eating one. The watermelon salad was the best item that I ordered. It was fresh and absolutely delicious. I requested no basil, but kitchen staff took that to also mint, which was disappointing. Not the brightest, I guess. Bluefin tuna toro was also just fine and not the delectable indulgence I was expecting. I would not return.
A trip to Boston would not be complete without seafood, I stopped by Row 34 for a quick solo dinner while I was in the area. On a busy weekend night, I was able to get a seat at the bar. Started off with the clam chowder which was solid, although I felt that the bacon and creamy slightly overpowered the clams. I got myself a warm lobster roll which was very decadent. The lobster meat was very fresh and simply seasoned. The portion was larger than expected but I really appreciated the generous serving of the lobster and the seafood to bread ratio. The side chips were also crunchy and nicely seasoned. Staff were polite; food came out at a reasonable time. The dim lighting made it a vibey, intimate place for a dinner. I definitely want to try their raw bar and other dishes next time I'm back in Boston!
I would give this place a solid 4+ stars. It would have easily made 5 but the lobster roll was just good, not amazing. The Oysters on the other hand (not pictured, I was hungry and they were so good I forgot) were the best I've ever had!! Simply amazing!!! Service was friendly and helpful. Great vibe for a date or romantic dinner.
Initially confused when looking at the dinner menu, at lunch. Very pleased with the service and our server's knowledge of the raw bar. Scallop seviche was a hit. Row 34 oyster was unexpected good, though I preferred the sweet one recommended "aunt dotty". Kudos to the kitchen for nicely splitting our lobster roll. Good Bloody Mary, she said the Hugo spritz was delicious. Top notch atmosphere.
Stopped in at Row 34 without a reservation and luckily we were able to get a seat at the bar. The menu had a lot of seafood and non-seafood options. The fish and chips were great, the fries in particular were thin and crunchy. The star of the show was the delicious corn bread with maple butter.
Come here and get the buttermilk biscuit. It is truly the most incredible bread and butter combo. The seafood and other apps were also yummy and fresh but we kept dreaming about the biscuit. The ceviche wasn't very good but the oysters, burger, and fried corn were great. One of the cocktails we tried was way too sour and unbalanced but the freezer martinis were good. The atmosphere is very classy, perfect for a date night.
stopped by for a late lunch and it was surprisingly not busy, so we're glad we picked it on a whim! the lobster roll was quite pricey at $55 and was tasty, but the size was not worth the price. oysters were also a little pricey as well but they had a great selection. the clam chowder was good, but again, pricey for the portion size. service was great, and we're happy with the little postcard they gave us at the end of the meal.
We heard Row 34 is one of the restaurants to visit for good lobster rolls while visiting Boston. We stayed in the Seaport area and this was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel. We came here during lunch on a Wednesday. We had 3 adults and a toddler and it wasn't busy, nicely air conditioned and there was also outdoor and bar seatings. I got an espresso martini which was good. We started with fried calamari and corn bread for the table to share. Pasta and broccoli for the toddler. And then 2 warm lobster rolls (about $42 market price) and a shrimp roll. I also ordered the clam chowder to compare to other places. I felt like the clam chowder had a really strong bacon taste and flavor that overpowered the soup, and it was pretty light as opposed to thick. The lobster rolls were really good, the bread was super soft and service was great! There's some street parking but located within a busy area.
The freshest seafood in town. I love the Row oysters very much, the freshness out of the sea. Lobster roll with clam chowder as the best combo. Tuna crude on top of the black garlic aioli sauce was a delightful cold plate!
Must be for the trendy, with-it crowd. Our bell man, and uber driver were unfamiliar with this restaurant but this eatery was packed. I had called in for reservations but was told walk in. When we arrived the receptionist said you wouldn't believe we got busy all of a sudden. We were quoted a 15 minute wait time. Before we arrived in Boston I had read Yelp Elite, Peter N's review and was intrigued. Our 2 nd night in Boston I told hubs let's try Row 34. I found out that our flight attendant stays in Seaport where this is located and supposedly 7 minutes from our hotel. Let's go! We had the pleasure of having Jackie as our server. She was sure an enjoyable person to ask for recommendations of crab cake or a lettuce appetizer. She checked up on us, poured us refills from our large still water bottle. She was great. Hubs ordered two starters: clam chowder and squash. I also ordered starters: crab cake, calamari, cornbread and iced coffee. The calamari was excellent, the batter so light, crispy and it melted in my mouth. I used the dip that accompanied it. The cornbread was like a dessert with maple butter, sweet in a good way. Delicious and large like a round shaped pie. My iced coffee hit the spot- enjoyed it tremendously. After a 12 hour tour to Martha's Vineyard it was a welcomed pick me up. As soon as one party left, another one occupied their table. If you are a seafood lover you will enjoy eating here. I saw one chicken entree, no beef but oysters, lobster MP and more they have it.
Visiting Boston so it was only fitting to try a true Boston Lobstah Roll! My friend brought me to this restaurant as she stated it had great reviews and heard from other friends that they had the best ones. Made reservations for 8:15pm but we actually were in the area earlier and around 7pm we walked in to see if they could accommodate us earlier which they DID! Unfortunately im not sure if their AC system doesnt function well or just the type of restaurant it is but it was HOT!!! I Think it was hotter inside the restaurant than outside. Outside you at least get a little bit of a breeze. Either way, thankfully I jad brought a little handheld fan with me so my friend and I were able to cool down a bit in between turns. I ordered their cold lobster roll with fries and she ordered the burger with fries. That was the freshest and most DELICIOUS lobster roll I have had EVER! You can definitely tell we are right by the sea. It was also a very big decent size which I appreciate it. Other places give a small hotdogs size roll and you are done within 3 bites so this roll definitely filled me up. My friend also said her meal was delicious and we had NO complaints. We were also given a free appetizer with our meal which was the mexican street corn. Very VERY delicious. Corn so soft and buttery with their mexican cream sauce was VERY flavorful. The food honestly made up for it being so DARN hot in there but we left full amd happy. The food was worth it honestly. I WILL definitely be back whenever I am in Boston again. Everyone was friendly and efficient and appreciate them being very accommodating.

Had the most amazing coconut hibiscus negroni here. Sound too trendy? - yep, sound like it doesn't belong in Boston? - sure. It's no sbagliato -- it's intentional. The Campari is fat washed with the coconut so you get more of a suggestion of coconut that doesn't overpower the bitters. Good enough that they might think about starting another row of oysters to accompany it. Give it a shot -- may be your new Italian day drink. Ask for Taylor -- she invented it (and happens to be an excellent server). Oh yeah -- we ate here too. read more
Visiting from out of town, my bf and I HAD to try the lobster rolls in Boston. We found Row 34 online and I immediately made reservations for the afternoon as I read making reservations may be tricky. However, it was an easy process and we checked in without any trouble. Upon checking in, we were asked where we preferred to sit, which was nice. We initially asked to sit at a table but noticed how nice the high tables were so we asked to switch and they were more than willing to accommodate! Our server was Santiago and he was fantastic. He heard it was our first time visiting so he explained the menu to us before allowing us some time to look thru the menu to decide what to get. Our order: Toro Crudo: The toro was super fresh and it sat in ponzu sauce which was a bit overpowering imo. But, the apricot it was topped with did a great job at complimenting it. The pieces were pretty big! Salmon Crudo: Now this, this was one of the best thing I've ever had period. Salmon was extremely fresh and they were big pieces as well. The watermelon gazpacho went extremely well with it and it provided a very refreshing taste to the dish. Wrapping the small pieces of tomatoes and watermelon in the salmon was a huge explosion of flavor. I'm forever gonna think about this haha. Warm Buttered Lobster Roll & Ethel's Creamy Lobster Roll: Let me just start this off with how much lobster they stuffed our rolls with. I was very surprised with how much we got! The buns/rolls were very buttery and toasted to perfection. Between the two, I preferred the warm buttered lobster and my bf preferred the creamy one. Both were really good, but I think the warm lobster just tasted slightly better, especially when you squeeze the lemon! Santiago was fantastic and had split them half and half for us, saving us the trouble of doing it ourselves. The coleslaw was pretty good as well and I loved the chips. The chips may not be everyone's cup of tea but I loved it. It seemed like it was housemade with potatoes, and it was seasoned well! Overall, everything we had was phenomenal and I would absolutely come back again when we're in Boston again. The service and food both were really good!! And the price was fair! Everything came out to $144 before tip, which I felt was fair given how good the food was as well as how much food we got. Just a note, they do not do parking validation before 5PM! It was not an issue for us though :) We parked at the structure that was a couple mins walk away. read more
10/10 food - This is definitely one of those restaurants where I would give extra stars if I could! Everything I tried was like heaven in my mouth!!! All the seafood tasted fresh and all the dishes were so flavorful. Each dish was also the right temperature when it was brought to the table and that's huge for me. 10/10 service - Our server was great and extremely attentive! We had to wait a bit for the previous party and ended up being seated a little later than our reservation time. Our server was so sweet and provided us with the oyster sliders on the house as an apology. We also had a larger party size (6) but the server managed everything very well. 8/10 ambiance - While it is a nice restaurant, it was pretty dark and very loud inside. It was hard to hear people, so that especially sucked for a little bit of a larger party. read more

The ambiance here was great! A+ for design and atmosphere. The food was just okay. I ordered the lobster roe fettuccine and it was tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of the sausage in the dish. The service was also mediocre. Our waiter didn't seem like he wanted to be there and was just collecting a pay check. For the prices of the dishes, the service should be up to par. He wasn't friendly from the get go. I don't know if I would return..there are better options for a better price elsewhere. read more

Was recommended as a must-try spot in Boston, but to be honest it was just so-so. I wouldn't say it's absolutely worth going out of your way to try, just a decent selection of seafood options but incredibly pricey and unfortunately in Seaport, so parking is $$$$ and Ubers take forever. Basically it's just out of the way and not worth. Seafood boil was too salty and broth was still somehow thin. Not a huge fan of their lox toast. Clam chowder was good but I wouldn't expect anywhere to be serving bad clam chowder. Oysters here were pretty phenomenal though, can't complain about that. read more
I came here just to get some oysters and I was happy! The waiter was kind enough to suggest which oysters to get. They were all perfect. I then decided on the whole fish which was sea bass. It was really good, just too many bones to pick through. I loved the pistachios and harissa combination with the sea bass We got here about 5:45 and got a table quick on the heated patio. Still as fantastic as our last visit. The shrimp on the raw bar are incredible, absolute perfection. We can't not have a hot buttered lobster roll, this time with shoe string fries. Our first dinner, so we had to share the corn bread skillet with the golf ball hunk of maple butter planted dead center. The oyster lettuce cups were the least impressive but still tasty. Three of us popped over for an early dinner following work in Cambridge. We almost left due to the rudeness of the host. I'm glad we stayed, but did not order drinks and sadly rushed our dinner because of the rude host. That said, we tried a variety of dishes. Our server, Carolina R. was AHMAZING and had great insight to share in regards to ordering oysters, as well as the dishes on the menu. We ordered 3 different types of oysters, clam chowder, crab cake, calamari (the BEST we've had anywhere!), the pasta dish, fish tacos and the hake. The chowder was a disappointment. There was entirely too many bacon chunks of unrendered fat which made the texture unappealing. I couldn't find any clams in my soup, either. The Hake was delightful and the veggies a surprisingly vibrant accompaniment. Kudos to the chef for accommodating my preference for zucchini' over eggplant. I would eat here again just for the Hake. I'd have to bypass that host, though. As others have mentioned, it's pricey for the portion sizes... but it everything in Boston seems to be pricey. Only giving 3 stars for the host rudeness and the inedible chowder. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night and it was super crowded. Sat at the bar. Some of the freshest oysters I've ever had -- they were so delicious. Also had some tuna tartare, smoked salmon, mussels, and the whole black bass entree. Everything tasted extremely fresh and flavorful. Definitely a seafood lover's paradise. Service was just okay at best. Would come again if I'm in the area. read more
Super sponty stop that left me feeling so happy and satisfied. We had an hour to kill before heading to the airport, and what better way to do that than squeezing in some snack time? Row 34 was just down the street from our parking spot, so it was really convenient. It was past noon when we arrived and there was still a crowd, but no wait. The restaurant was spacious and modern. We got the mussels, salmon belly crudo, and oysters (Row 34, Island Creek, and Aunt Dotty). Everything came out pretty quickly which was great, considering our time crunch. I didn't have much expectations because it was something we found on a whim. But man... Wheeewwwwww!!! Was it amazingggg. The mussels were plump and juicy, with a sauce that complemented it so well. I loved the soft garlic and onion pieces that add an extra burst of flavor. The salmon belly crudo brought a pleasant twist of a flavor combination I was not expecting whatsoever. The color. The BEETs. The all-kill has to be the oysters. They were everything. Especially the Row 34. My goodness. Super fresh and chilled to the perfect temperature. You can definitely taste the quality. Great place for Seafood in Boston! Make reservations if you can. For drinks, they have some very cool drinks, started with Spice Up Your Life, crazy good, then a Transatlantic Express, wow! And if you like beer, my favorite hard to get beer, they had Nath Cantillon on Tap!!! For appetizers we got fries calamari, lightly battered and very good! Tuna, sooo good! Fresh Oysters, the waitress picked them out for us, very good! For dinner I got the Warm Butter Lobster Roll, it was Amazing!!! And my wife got the Local Caught Jonah Crab, very good with great flavor! Also, added Corn Bread with Maple Butter, must get, and then a Buttermilk Biscuit, if you are from the South you will be disappointed in the biscuit. Our server was awesome, knowledgeable, and very nice! If you live in Boston what are you waiting for, try this place, if you are visiting put this one down as a must try seafood restaurant to try! In researching Boston restaurants I saw Row 34 come up a few times for clam chowder, lobster rolls and fresh seafood. Reviews were positive but all said to expect to wait so I didn't look much further into it. I was staying in the seaport area and happened to see Row 34 looking pretty empty so we stopped for a late lunch. I do want to caveat that it was a rainy Sunday after a snowstorm at 3pm so there were a lot of factors contributing to the restaurant being slow. The oysters were amazing and really fresh! The clam chowder was also probably one of my favorites that I tried in Boston. It was pretty chunky, filled with bacon, clams and potatoes, and was accompanied with a homemade saltine cracker! For our entrees, we got the lobster fried rice and fried fish sandwich. I think we went off the beaten path with our selections as these are definitely not what the restaurant is know for. The lobster fried rice was very lemony and salty. The lobster was definitely overpowered by the soy sauce and citrus. The ratio of meat to rice was also pretty small. Fish sandwich was pretty good. Definitely fresh fish and oil. The dish usually comes with chips but I opted for fries. Overall a solid choice. I was happy with the meal but if I had to wait for a table I think I would have been a little disappointed. read more

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! This has to be one the best restaurant experiences I have had in the Boston/Cambridge area. While visiting here for the week to attend a leadership development program nearby, our party of 6 came in on a Wednesday evening. We had reservations at 7:15p and were promptly seated at the corner high top tables overlooking the sidewalk and street. Food was EXCELLENT. We ordered: Starters: 1. The "Board" of variety smoked and cured fish (smoked salmon, scallops, and fish pate) 2. Calamari - perfectly prepared 3. Honey roll bread - warm and buttery in a cast iron skillet 4. Raw Oysters - selected 10 oysters as recommended by our server Main Dishes: 1. Lobster Pasta - delicious. So much so that we had multiple people order it 2. Jonah Crab Rigatoni - fresh and delicious 3. Crispy whole fish of the day - HUGE! Large enough for multiple people to share if you wanted. 4. Seafood Bouillabaisse - hearty and full of seafood (clams, fish, mussels, and shrimp) and diced potatoes Service was really the highlight! We had just the most lovely server. She was patient, kind, and friendly. Also very knowledgeable of the menu and made just spot on recommendations! She was even nice enough to split our bill for what each of us ordered. She didn't have to do that but was happy to do it without even being prompted or requested. Amazing. Simply amazing dining experience. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out if you are anywhere near Cambridge or Boston. read more

We had such a great date night at Row 34! It was my first time and am definitely making it a date night staple in the Seaport. The fish was so fresh and delicately prepared -- we left not feeling overly full because the fish was so light (a good thing for us!!) read more

The oyster po'boy sandwich was a good choice. It was loaded with oysters and the remoulade was not overpowering, allowing for the oyster flavor to come through. Chips and cold slaw accompany the sandwich. The chips appear house-made and were crunchy and thick. The clam chowder was thick and creamy, and the pieces of bacon were substantial. My bowl didn't seem to have much clams, and when some were discovered, they mostly were shredded pieces. The service is good, no extensive waits. It's a loud environment in the inside dining area. There is an oyster bar. We ate in the outside patio, which is covered and heated. read more

The food was very good. I had the halibut and loved it! The lobster roll was okay but we wanted it to have more seasoning / felt something was missing from it. The calamari was very yummy. Carlos was very sweet and service for the most part was great. It was a little bit too loud and felt like I couldn't hear the person across the table at times. read more

Everything we ordered tonight was perfect. We were here for a birthday celebration and the service was top notch. The variety of oysters was amazing at least ten to choose from (we cut ourselves off at 7). The oyster lettuce cups were perfectly made, I've never tried anything like it! The lobster roll was one of the best I've ever had. Growing up going to Cape Cod my whole life I've had a lot of lobster rolls. The roll was perfectly toasted and the meat was cooked to perfection. I'm not sure if they use some kind of magic butter, but I will definitely be returning. Our server Rodrigo had a cake with a candle in it singing happy birthday with us as soon as one of the other staff members cleared the table. Now we understand why this restaurant gets so crowded! read more
I have been trying to pen down my thoughts about Row 34 for some time now. It is sea-riously the best upscale restaurant in the city for seafood. When friends and family visit I always bring them here and time and time again it never disappoints. It is no sea-cret that the oysters shine here. Do not leave without ordering some oysters. The fried oysters are great but my favorite are the raw oysters. For a while I stayed away from consuming raw oysters but I credit my re-found love for oysters to Row 34. They are professionals. The raw oyster quality is unmatched here and fear not for poorly shucked oysters because you won't find that here. As for the selection of oysters- you really can't go wrong with any of them. But the signature Row 34 oysters from Duxbury are my weakness. While Row 34 is considered a more upscale seafood establishment, the decor and ambiance inside is laid back and chill-especially at the Seaport location. Their other location in Burlington would be more suitable for bigger "fancier" functions. This hasn't stopped me from enjoying multiple special occasions and bringing visiting family and friends to this location though. The service here feels expensive and I have been so pleased every single time I have dined here by the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of the staff. I have had my meal coursed without asking (so that I can slowly eat each dish fresh at the same time being able to enjoy the conversations in my party); my orders split into the perfect individual serving for my party (because our server knew we were going to share), a vase of water brought out for my surprise flowers from my date, and even the heat turned down because we were feeling hot. All this on top of kind, friendly attitude from the staff makes Row 34 top tier! read more

Amazing! This was our favorite restaurant on our 5 day visit to Boston. It's in a fantastic location and as the weather was gorgeous, we decided to sit in the patio area. We began with a dozen mixed oysters that our server was kind enough to choose for us. Being born and bred in New Orleans, we weren't familiar with any of the Northeast varieties. He definitely got it right, and his choices were perfect! Salty, fresh, and absolutely no shells. We decided to split a cup of clam chowder and a lobster roll. Both were fantastic. The chowder was rich and had just the right ratio of sweet, tender clams and potatoes. The lobster roll was full of flavor. From the roll itself that was toasted and buttery to the creamy and bright lobster salad, the thinly sliced potato chips, and the tangy slaw, it was an amazing plate of food. We also shared the tuna crudo, which was unbelievable. And I can't forget my cocktail. I can't remember what it was called, but I loved it. It was a combo of lemon, ginger beer, elderflower and vodka I think. I can't neglect to mention the service. The staff was wonderful! Like I said, best meal we had in Boston. read more
We attended a convention nearby and found row 34 when looking for a quick place to eat for lunch. It was so good we actually went back twice! The first time, we didn't make a reservation, but still were able to sit at the bar fairly quickly. The second time we use our online reservation system and had a table with no wait. Food was fresh and the fish tacos were amazing. They are on the smaller side, so if you're hungry, you may want to consider ordering a smaller appetizer to go with it. All in all, this is a great option if you're looking for a quick bite near the convention center. read more

Our service was amazing! My mom has celiac and our server was very attentive and kept checking with the kitchen about what she could and couldn't eat. She ended up getting a lobster roll on a gluten free bun and I had some of it too - it was delicious! The lobster itself had a lot of butter on it and the GF bun was honestly really good. The rolls are pretty small though and especially considering the price, I wish there was more lobster. My dad loved the clam chowder too. The crab risotto was pretty good and was a huge portion. We also tried 3 different types of oysters and loved all of them!!!! Shoestring fries were amazing too. Our server also brought out house made chips on the house. Had heard a lot of things about this spot, and it lived up to the hype!! Came with friends and made a reservation for 4 people on a Saturday for dinner. The interior is huge and there's a ton of space inside. It's a bit of a rustic modern vibe, which I loved. To drink, we tried the Silk Chiffon and the Blueberry Corn Cobbler. I absolutely loved the Silk Chiffon, but the Blueberry Corn Cobbler wasn't quite what I was expecting. The flavor was there but it was definitely overpowered by the tequila. As for food, we got Oysters and Tuna Tartare to start. They were both were fresh and delicious. For mains, I tried the Warm Buttered Lobster Roll and the Gulf Shrimp Spaghetti. The lobster roll was hands down one of the best I've ever had. It is pricey, but the lobster is so juicy, meaty, and they did not skimp out on the portion. The spaghetti was also quite good. It was a rather small entree, but it came with a generous amount of shrimp. We finished off with their Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was very decent. Overall, a fun dining experience with great service and vibes :~). read more
+.5 for service Row 34's probably one of the top seafood places in Boston. I went to their Seaport location over the holidays for my last night in the city before continuing down to NYC. The interior looks really sharp. High ceilings, open concept, which depending if you like noise might be too loud for some people. Dimmed lighting too. After a disappointing lobster roll earlier in the day, I wanted to redeem myself by having one here. Of course, since this was dinner with my family, we ordered a few more items, including smoked scallops, griddled crab cake, and some Maine-based raw oysters. Overall I was satisfied with all the dishes. Given the high standards for seafood in New England, I believe this place is great for places I've tried in Boston...but I agree with folks who say the best seafood is closer to Maine. The smoked scallops was good, crab cake was great, and the lobster roll was also great. The raw oysters were average, quite tiny despite having similar ones when we were in Maine. Still tasty though. Just came here for some drinks and apps before getting dinner. It's a pretty a busy place and hard to get a seat without a reservation, but luckily we were able to snag some seats together at the bar. I think that everything was pretty standard. I really loved the clam chowder - it was so creamy and flavorful without out being too heavy. read more

Depending on how many people. Bar tables probably have less wait time or you can make a reservation.

While it's a matter of personal taste and both are terrific, the butter has the lead for us. Both my wife and I are in that camp. Butter is, well, ... better.

It's casual dress. We were there on Sunday night in jeans and t-shirt.
How noisy is it really?
Pretty noisy inside (if it's a busy night), but outside in the covered area is quiet.
Are there options for vegetarians?
There's a few but not many. This is almost exclusively a seafood restaurant. They have avocado toast and an arugula salad as options, that's about it.
