+.5 for service Row 34's probably one of the top seafood places in Boston. I went to their Seaport location over the holidays for my last night in the city before continuing down to NYC. The interior looks really sharp. High ceilings, open concept, which depending if you like noise might be too loud for some people. Dimmed lighting too. After a disappointing lobster roll earlier in the day, I wanted to redeem myself by having one here. Of course, since this was dinner with my family, we ordered a few more items, including smoked scallops, griddled crab cake, and some Maine-based raw oysters. Overall I was satisfied with all the dishes. Given the high standards for seafood in New England, I believe this place is great for places I've tried in Boston...but I agree with folks who say the best seafood is closer to Maine. The smoked scallops was good, crab cake was great, and the lobster roll was also great. The raw oysters were average, quite tiny despite having similar ones when we were in Maine. Still tasty though. Had heard a lot of things about this spot, and it lived up to the hype!! Came with friends and made a reservation for 4 people on a Saturday for dinner. The interior is huge and there's a ton of space inside. It's a bit of a rustic modern vibe, which I loved. To drink, we tried the Silk Chiffon and the Blueberry Corn Cobbler. I absolutely loved the Silk Chiffon, but the Blueberry Corn Cobbler wasn't quite what I was expecting. The flavor was there but it was definitely overpowered by the tequila. As for food, we got Oysters and Tuna Tartare to start. They were both were fresh and delicious. For mains, I tried the Warm Buttered Lobster Roll and the Gulf Shrimp Spaghetti. The lobster roll was hands down one of the best I've ever had. It is pricey, but the lobster is so juicy, meaty, and they did not skimp out on the portion. The spaghetti was also quite good. It was a rather small entree, but it came with a generous amount of shrimp. We finished off with their Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was very decent. Just came here for some drinks and apps before getting dinner. It's a pretty a busy place and hard to get a seat without a reservation, but luckily we were able to snag some seats together at the bar. I think that everything was pretty standard. I was getting peckish around the seaport region and stopped by here because of the pictures of their beautiful lobster roll. While on the somewhat smaller side, I really enjoyed their warm buttered roll which was full of fresh lobster pieces and had a great crispy yet soft bread. Also tried out their oyster slider, which had a great slightly spicy and creamy sauce that cut the oiliness of the fried oyster well, but I thought that a fluffier bread would have balanced it out better than their denser, more biscuit like one. Really, really, really good seafood lover's experience. Took my wife here for our anniversary dinner. If you love seafood and you're in Boston, I say you gotta come here and give it a try. This is one of those places where every single thing was freaking delicious. We went all out and ordered way too much food. If you eat oysters in any capacity, you gotta try the fried oyster sliders. They're not huge but for the price they're a wicked deal and they're insanely delicious, I honestly could have just filled up on like 10 of these things. Served in a nice soft brioche-style bun with fresh veggies and a nice sauce, the crispy battered oyster really shines through these. The raw bar offerings were splendid. They have a nice wide variety of different oysters from all around and they clearly have a passion for them as they have a whole recommended system for eating them, like what fixings to put on with what, etc. They even recommended getting certain beers as nice palate cleansers between oyster varieties to really maximize the experience - and I recommend you trust them since we had an amazing time. The oysters were all insanely fresh and cold, and had absolutely zero grit to them. The cherry stone clams were also insanely succulent and delicious. The tuna tartare was also a star of the show, absolutely delicious and fresh out of this world, with zero fishiness. The mussels were probably my favorite thing. Save some bread for this delicious sauce because you'll want to mop it all up and shove it down your gullet. Mussels were cooked perfectly. Finally we got a lobster roll (we got the mayo kind, which they recommended) and it was the star of the show. It was chock full of juicy lobster meat and they did not skimp on this one. Fried were delicious and crispy as well. To top it off, our cocktails were phenomenal! The atmosphere was really interesting and lively - nice decor but really tall and spacious. Not white table clothy or bougie. Wear a T shirt, wear a button down and slacks, it seems the vibe here was nice-casual. We couldn't have had such a nice time without the help of our server who walked us through their menu. We listened to him every step of the way and we were not led astray. If you're looking for a nice seafood dinner in Boston, you've probably got lots of options, and I've tried a lot of them but this the place you wanna go for a really polished experience all around. read more

Stayed in Seaport and knew nothing of Row 34. My colleagues and I just happened to walk past it looking for a spot to eat. We were exhausted from a day of travel and put our names down. It was a one hour wait on a Tuesday, so we thought it must be good. We left to Pink Taco for a few drinks before heading back in once we got the text. We ordered multiple rounds of oysters because they were so delicious. One of my colleagues had never had caviar before, so I added caviar onto the three best oysters that we had (Row 34). I ordered the salmon crudo as an appetizer and it was decent, I probably would try something else next time. It was nothing special. However, the roasted half chicken was to DIE for! The skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. I loved the olives with the tomato and polenta, it was a great well rounded dish. I would definitely order it again. Appreciate that they made room for us to move our reservation though they were totally booked on a Wednesday night. We initially sat on their patio which has no charm and every few minutes were punctuated with dump trucks and loud construction noise. So do yourself a favor and just sit inside. They moved us back in thankfully and we enjoyed a nice dinner: calamari and clam chowder for starters. Calamari was excellent, chowder was good, on the thick side. For dinner, whole fish (black sea bass), swordfish with pasta, and crab cakes which they made into an entree size. Great service and food. I wish they had more dessert choices. I am from CA and extremely picky when it comes to oysters, an old colleague who lives in Boston recommended this place and let me tell you.... Oysters did not disappoint! Came in for dinner on an early Saturday night while in town for a volleyball tournament. There was a wait for a table so we opted to sit at the bar. The place was lively and welcoming. We were warmly greeted by the bartender and we ordered a few drinks and appetizers. We had a lady marmalade cocktail, a local draft beer, some oysters, and a bowl of clam chowder. The food came out so quickly and everything was fresh and delicious. For dinner we ordered wild shrimp with bucatini and Nantucket bay scallops. Both dishes were packed with flavor and the portions were perfect. The shrimp was in a creamy sauce with just a hint of spice and the scallops were in a rich, wine and broth forward sauce. The best lobster roll in Boston, in my opinion! This place isn't absolutely mind blowing, but every time I have friends visiting from out of town I make sure to bring them here. It's kind of a weird spot in Seaport with not too much parking nearby, but I promise it's so worth it. It's super easy to make a reservation online, and they have a nice patio for some outdoor dining in the city. *** Review for Cambridge location, as not on Yelp yet *** Row 34 has been open in Kendall Square for 5 days, yet provided my wife and I with one of the best meals and dining experiences we've had since the COVID shutdown in 2020. Let's start with the space - it's brand new, modern, and clean without having an overly industrial feel that some new places are going toward in terms of decor. There are plenty of tables and even some high top tables that oversee the raw and wet bar as well as the main dining room that has typical height tables. Next, it's worth mentioning the service we experienced because it was that of a Michelin-starred restaurant. We got 4 or 5 different apologies throughout the night that weren't necessarily warranted (but definitely appreciated), which culminated in the "gifting" or comping of a side of asparagus which was not only delicious but also very much appreciated. There was a team of 3 servers that were always around and taking care of us. It is definitely the best service and attentiveness we've had in the 5 years we've been in Boston. Food, maybe the MOST important aspect of a restaurant... and it did not disappoint. The hype around the lobster roll, a perennial on the best lobster rolls in New England is not only warranted but perhaps doesn't do it justice. They even offered to cut it in half for us, as we were sharing everything throughout the night. It was perhaps the best execution of a lobster roll in New England, but definitely the best in Boston we've experienced to date. The oysters were amazing, fresh, and the toppers were each amazing in their own way... regardless of your specific tastes. The pan-seared scallops were another star, as they were perfectly cooked and handled, but the combination of the mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, and chimichurri sauce was a presentation and combination I've never experienced and it worked PERFECTLY. I will definitely be back to Row 34 after this experience. It's not the cheapest place to eat, and many will consider it a special occasion dining destination... but at the price point, we didn't feel cheated or that it was over-valued at the menu price. I think the addition to Kendall Square was not only needed, but extremely welcome given the recent closures in the area due to C19 closures and the biotechs not being onsite as much. TL;DR: The Salmon and Tuna Crudos were phenomenally executed with heavenly combinations of flavors and textures. The Seared Skate was solid but left something to be desired, and the Butterscotch pudding was also okay but uninteresting. Off Season cocktail was lovely and refreshing. The service was speedy, knowledgeable, and attentive. George RR Martin-esque review. This review had me right at the 5,000 character limit. Thankfully, no severe trimming was needed. I have a confession: I am not particularly a seafood fan, except for sushi, which I eat like Kirby. There I am, at a bar chatting with a guy visiting from Chicago. He asks me if I have a recommendation for seafood, one of the few categories where I have nothing. Thankfully the bartender stepped in for the rescue with Row 34. After saying to my new Chicagoan friend, "Always trust the bartender!" I decided to try Row 34 for myself! I had the opportunity to try the following: - 1x/each Oysters (10 total) - Salmon Crudo - Tuna Crudo - Skate - Butterscotch Pudding - Espresso - Off Season The oysters were superb! While I am not an oyster connoisseur, these seemed to have some differentiation between them, enough that I'd know which to get if I re-order. I want to give some love to the oysters (except for two) being of very modest size. They were also clean and devoid of sediment. While one contained a tiny piece of cartilage, this oyster was massive, so net/net, I'm not going to make a fuss! The Salmon and Tuna Crudos were both phenomenal! Both dishes are executed and elevated to perfection! The Salmon Crudo had fish of stellar quality! These were cuts of salmon belly, so it was a fattier (thus melt-in-your-mouthier) consistency. The fish delivered an Oscar-winning performance, yet the supporting acts cannot be understated! The jalapeno gave just the right amount of bite with a faint poke of heat. The crisp rice gave a small amount of crunch/crispness that helped contrast the tenderness of the salmon. Meanwhile, the orange pieces offered their own contrast by adding a touch of citrusy sweetness. I liked the use of herbs to add some additional freshness and earthiness. Finally, the avocado leche de tigre was unique and exciting. If I am to name a critique, it is that the dish was a hair (indeed, an immaterial amount) acidic for my taste. Then, enter the Tuna Crudo. Ditto with the Salmon Crudo, the same notes about high-quality fish allowed to shine. Yet, I will still give you the breakdown like we're on Chopped! Despite some similarities, the Tuna Crudo was a wholly new experience! The crisp shallot gives just the right amount of crunch. Meanwhile, when it comes to sauces, the black garlic aïoli and ginger went together like bread and butter, PB&J, Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks... you get the metaphor. They worked together to offer some pleasant sweetness and a wheelbarrow full of savoriness! Finally, the avocado worked well in terms of texture. Moving away from the Raw Bar, I went for the Roasted Skate. This dish was notably more spartan than the Crudos. On the one hand, it was delectable, but the bar was set sky-high, and I was hoping for some a step above just a solid piece of fish. The fish was tender and seared to perfection, giving it a paper-thin crust with a light, toasty flavor. It was seasoned ever so delicately with a perfect spritz of citrus. The fish had a whisper of sweetness, too, that I enjoyed. Finally, bonus points for the medallions that come off almost on their own. Under the fish was something I lack the words to describe, other than a puree of some kind. This one was unique and pleasant. My critique here is regarding the cauliflower and carrots. While roasted in the same fashion as the fish, they felt unrefined and almost as if an afterthought to say, "well, there're veggies on the plate." I had just enough room in my stomach for dessert and went for the Butterscotch Pudding. The idea is good, but in practice is room for improvement. I loved the homemade whipped cream as well as the candied pecan pieces. Though, I felt they were more sugar than pecan. These being on top, they ran out quickly, and I was left with pudding alone. The pudding was flavorful and not too sweet, though it was just pudding in the absence of anything else. Oh, and while pretty, the container used makes it hard to scrape the sides! Words of advice: make the container shorter and wider. If not blending something into pudding, add more candied pecans and whip up top. For a drink, I got an Off Season. It was gently sweet, boozy, and carbonated. Unbelievably refreshing, bright, and citrusy. Good thing I stuck to one; else, I could inhale three of these! Meanwhile, the espresso (with dessert) is excellent coffee, but $4.50 for a tiny, single espresso shot seems excessive. The service was superb. My server was knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. Food came out reasonably fast, also. With a water bottle on the table, refilling to add 37 drops seems a bit much. read more

When I come to Boston all I want to do is eat all the seafood I can find! I had a conference which was located in seaport so this restaurant was an easy 7 minute walk from the convention center. It was busy at lunch but we got served relatively quickly! I had gotten six oysters- all different but all amazing. The mussels were fabulous and the deviled eggs were so good with the salmon on top. Let me start by saying we were fortunate enough to sit at the bar and have Nick as our bartender. This is an excellent restaurant and bar with creative seafood dishes. Tonight we had some oysters and selections from the raw bar. Nick recommended the roasted oysters which were excellent and full of flavor. We then had a monk fish and a whole Black Sea bass for dinner. Both prepared very differently but both were excellent. I will happily return!!! read more

For two, we ordered the warm buttered lobster roll, a small sized fried oysters, and some raw oysters. My first tip is to definitely make a reservation here if you are planning on coming. The lobster roll certainly did not disappoint--the roll was just the right temperature and buttery smooth that it almost melt in your mouth. Coupled with the chewiness and freshness of the lobster and this was without a doubt a top 3 lobster roll of my life, though fair warning this comes with an expected high price tag.
