Usually not the kind of person to write reviews but after my experience with ROX, I felt like I needed to. First off, I've been coming to ROX for a while- the food is always excellent whether you're eating breakfast or lunch. Went there on Saturday with a few buddies and was greeted right away by a cute tall blonde waitress. Even though we waited a few minutes, she was prompt in clearing off the booth so we could sit down and put our order in. Got the Fine Dine Sandwich- never dissapoints. My buddies all had rave reviews on service and food. Our waitress was quick and always made sure we had a full cup of coffee. They recently upgraded to leather booths too which are awesome. Miss the comics on the wall though. Looking forward to coming back next weekend- great food and HOT service!!! read more

Terrible customer service! I called to place an order and was put on hold, 13 mins pass by and I'm still on hold, so I decide to just hang up and call back. Bad idea since the employee never came back to the phone, it was off the receiver, and no calls were able to get through. I called about 10 times in a span of 15 mins to no avail. I decide to call one final time another 10 mins later and someone picks up. I explained that someone put me on hold about 25 mins ago and never came back and she apologized. I said that's fine that I just wanted to put in an order and she proceeds to tell me that it's 2pm and the kitchen is now closed. So I said wait so someone literally put me on hold, never came back to take my order, left the phone off the receiver so no calls can get through, and now you're telling me I can't put in my order?! She's like yeah I'm sorry, but I can't put in an order. I was so upset I just hung up the phone. Also- if what the employee said was true and your establishment is closed at 2pm, you should then update your hours on your website, which state that on Saturday and Sunday you're open until 3pm. My boyfriend and I love the Rox Diner. I just moved to the area and its a new favorite of mine. The only irritating aspect is being cramped in the entryway, waiting in line if you are there on a busy morning (weekends typically). However, once you sit down, the food is great. I don't care for the hollandaise sauce they use but pancakes are phenomenal and I like that they get the bread from Fornax Bakery. Coffee could use a little improvement. read more

This is my weekend breakfast spot. I come here every weekend with my dad who has back condition where it's only comfortable for him to set on a booth. We walked in to the place just behind one other couple , the couple got seated in one of the booths, the place was very much empty, the host told us that we cannot set on the other booth since they want to reserve it for bigger parties. I mean that is ok but you just seated a couple in the other booth !!! Also it's not my first time here. This is just a bad management and uncalled for. I won't be coming back here again. read more

One thing I have learned living in West Roxbury area...there is no shortage of breakfast places. And I couldn't be happier! Rox Diner is amazing, but get there early. Or you will be waiting outside. Its tiny, but quick and efficient. The staff is awesome and friendly even when its crazy hectic in there. The banana nutella stuffed french toast was incredible. Every time I have been here I have had something more amazing than the last time. And now they are open for dinner too. Hooray! read more

Good basic breakfasts. A little fancier than your standard greasy spoon.

Always packed on weekends, way too small, and sometimes very slow service....and yet it's totally worth it because the food is so so delicious! Yes, the meals are pricey, but the quality of the ingredients, portion sizes, and classic breakfast options with a hipster twist make waiting for a table worth it. One piece of advice - avoid extremely hot days because their AC just isn't up to the task. read more

Customer service is great that's why I opted to give them two stars, the food however is a different story. I LOVE home fries and make sure to get them at every breakfast spot I eat at, (I'm also a BREAKFAST LOVER). The fries felt like it wasn't cooked all the way and it was overly greasy, I'm not sure how that's possible. Their freshly squeezed lemonade was good and so was my bagel. I have breakfast here several times a week. I start my mornings slow, and this is a great place to do it (Pro tip: be mindful if there's a line out the door). The food here is delicious, and the majority of it is locally sourced. Meats and eggs come from local farms, bread comes from Fornax Bakery. There is something to say about supporting a local business who also supports local businesses. Now that I've been coming here a few years, you see a lot of the same faces. Excellent little diner in Roxbury with the cutest counter girl and some really yummy food. I had a turkey sandwich on toast with avocado, lettuce, tomato. As fresh and delicious as can be. The turkey was not lunch meat but good, thinly sliced turkey breast. I think it's also awesome that they serve alcohol should you like to partake at lunchtime. read more

We came on Mother's Day, so I expected there to be a wait.. when we were told 15 mins, I was cool with that. The hostess was very blah, which was whatever. We were seated and snagged a booth even though we were a party of two. Our waitress was super sweet and smiley.. should've gotten her name! She bought us two lovely mimosas and waters. We ordered quickly and the food came out in good time. I wasn't impressed with my breakfast combo, but I wasn't disappointed either. There was nothing spectacular about it. It was just like any other diner breakfast but with better home fries. Portion size was good, but I could see a really hungry person wanting more food. My girlfriend ordered the South Beach omelet and it was really small.. but I guess if you're watching your calories or whatever, a small omelet is OK. Overall, I just can't see the hype. I've had better breakfasts in the same price range. But it is nice to know there's a local diner, rather than heading to Victoria's and facing their Sunday service/wait. read more

I used to love this place but I feel like it isn't as good anymore. Or maybe I have only been there on off days... Anyway, the steak on my Eggs Benedict today had clearly not been seasoned or even salted. It was cooked to the right temperature, but if you don't salt steak before you cook it there really isn't much to be done after the fact. I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. And it seems like this has become a thing the past few times I have been there. I am not sure when or if I will return, which is a shame because I used to love it. I really wish that they would have more selection on their specials again. I used to love their biscuits and gravy, but I never see them on the board any more :( read more

With high quality ingredients these guys deliver, and really seem to care about following through on supporting local vendors and the WR community. I'm all over the menu when it comes to ordering, but especially enjoy trying out any new specials. I appreciate how the owners have made steady upgrades and improvements, and are sincerely happy to see returning customers (even if my family can't stop calling it "Auntie Bee's"). Tucked in next to the West Roxbury Pub, Autie B's is a townie's dream. My fiance and I decided to check out Auntie B's after reading the reviews here. The food here was amazing, the ambiance is authentic, and plenty of street parking on a Sunday morning. I love living near this place - the food is fresh and delicious, while also being really creative (I had the Jackie O. this weekend, which is a zucchini omelette as a sandwich filling, and a side of fruit). Having been there at quite a few times now, I will vouch for the consistency of the food, as well as the fantastic wait staff. We arrived on Saturday around noon to find the place packed, as I expected from reading the reviews. They seemed understaffed as we waited quite some time to leave our name and by that time we were seated. It was worth the wait though. Mimosa was great and had the company omelette special. I went to the Rox Diner for a family brunch and it was very good. The venue itself was a bit tight but it worked out fine. The food itself was very good, a plethora of breakfast options, all of wish you could tell were fresh and mixed nicely. I guess the reason this isn't higher is because it's good, but I wasn't blown away. I don't know if I'll be back in the immediate future, however, since leaving I've been craving it more and more, so I think a second visit is in the near future. read more

Rox is a great local place to get breakfest, very small but worth a little extra waiting time. They have an excellent selection of things you dont see at every breakfast in the area. For example I got the chocolate strawberry french toast which consisted of 3 pieces of french toast stuffed with chocolate sauce and strawberries which was very good. My girlfriend got the mango banana pancakes and she loved them as well. Overall great food at roxy's and definitely worth a try if you are trying to change it up for breakfast. read more

I came here after googling breakfast in West Roxbury. This place is great. The service is friendly. I came with my mom. She has a more traditional sense of breakfast, and loved the Irish breakfast. I am more contemporary and like to experiment a bit more and I loved what I got as well. read more

Just had breakfast here with my family (including 2 kids under age 5). Very large menu, great food, low prices. It was hard to make a decision but we were all happy with what we ordered. Delicious. Regular breakfast food with some nice twists (raspberry pancakes, nutella-and-banana stuffed french toast, breakfast sandwiches on brioche or peasant bread with smoked cheeses or prosciutto). My only complaints was that the service was a bit slow. It's a small restaurant and it was full, with people waiting in the door for tables. Also we were seated in the front window which gets all the sun and was hot hot hot! I expect it will be much better when the weather cools. read more

To me, a diner is dependable. A place where I can get great comfort food, it's not going to break the bank, and where I can get breakfast for dinner. Rox Diner accomplishes all of these things. I'd give this place (if i could) 4 1/2 stars and may even bump it up to 5 someday. I came here on a Thursday night a few weeks ago craving breakfast for dinner. The brioche french toast was fluffy and delicious. And the corned beef hash was definitely not the canned stuff but delicious real corned beef. One of the better corned beef hashes I've had. My husband and I went here for the first time today and loved it! I had the seasonal special, Pumpkin Bread French Toast and it was delicious and added a side of home fries because I am always wanting to eat them off my husband's plate when he gets them. My husband had a combo with pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and toast.... yeah, wow, that's a lot now that I'm writing it out. Anyway, he loved it all, especially the bacon. Everything was very high quality. They had real maple syrup and their butter, eggs and toast were all local. The waitress was super friendly and despite the out the door line and small number of tables, I don't think we waited more than 15-20 minutes max. Definitely a 5 out of 5. :) read more

Came here for the first time on Saturday morning. It's a small cute place (if you are a large group, be prepared to wait a little bit). The wait staff was great and the food was delicious. A good choice for breakfast in West Roxbury. The place is pretty small so expect a wait. Once you get seated, the food is good. They use locally sourced, organic food items. The corned beef hash is good. The home fries are good and the servers are attentive with refilling coffee when needed. Try to arrive as early as possible to avoid the crowds. Great place for breakfast or lunch. Most of my visits are for breakfast and I've never had a bad meal. Eggs, pancakes, sausage, French toast - all great. Expect a wait on weekends. Wish they were open for dinner. Only complaint is it's a little stark inside, especially on the space added in the past year or so. Even worse from the outside. With the generic white shades usually pulled down (sunny side of the street) and the sparse signage and paint it looks like an empty storefront. It's not doing the neighborhood any favors visually, and belies the great food and friendly service inside. read more
