Ham and Cheese Omlet, Hasbrowns, Wheat Toast
    John C.

My wife and I stopped by Roxanne's around 11 AM after a chilly morning at a local soccer game, having struck out at Waffle House and Country Cafe. We were seated quickly, which was a plus, but the place was surprisingly empty for a weekend brunch. The decor is very dated, think cheap country-western vibes with photos of locals on the walls, like stepping into a time capsule. Our server was prompt with our drink orders. I got an iced tea, and my wife ordered a hot tea, both of which arrived quickly. They took our food order efficiently too, so no complaints about the service speed. For food, my wife went with a breakfast scramble served with an English muffin, and I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with hashbrowns and toast. The food came out hot and fast, but that's where the positives end. My wife's scramble looked nice but lacked flavor and was overcooked to the point of being hard. The English muffin was just okay, nothing special. My omelet was a letdown. It had a single slice of unmelted cheese slapped on top, barely any ham, and the egg was dry and tough. The hashbrowns were undercooked, and the toast was dry as well. Overall, not a great experience. If you're starving and have no other options, Roxanne's might do in a pinch, but don't expect much. We likely won't be back unless we're desperate.

    Meatloaf

Server She never said her name. Ambiance It's an American Cafe that features Southern cooking. Food The sweet tea was bland. The patty melt was easily customizable to include pepper jack cheese. The patty melt was extra greasy and the homemade chips were served warm and a bit soggy. The good news is they were happy to correct it. The meatloaf was okay. The roll and the mashed potatoes were wonderful. They redid the patty melt and I asked them to toast the bread and I got apple sauce. Much improved!! Overall The server was very nice and even said she wanted to make sure we were happy. Which is probably more marketing rather than hospitality these days. Military No

We will start with each category and rate them So food 2 stars I got the breakfast sampler With overeasy eggs and it was well just average 3 Star's the hash browns I ordered extra crispy like a hockey puck were mushy and loaded with grease same with the eggs and the bacon there was a pool of grease on my plate I also ordered the real mashed potatoes they were extremely cold and off the eggs were cooked right but not much flavor besides grease my wife got the breaded tenderloin with gravy I will give that 1 star it tasted as of old grease and left a very bad after taste was just very off putting but the Mac and cheese was decent and the backed potatos was okay was a little old but the star of the show was the cinnamon roll five stars was extremely fresh and very flavored and huge Easley the best thing on there menu and maybe all of Platte city .. Service 5 stars staff was extremely friendly and welcoming even though came in 14 minutes before close Atomsphere two stars place is western themed but on the cheap think hobby lobby themed to the point it was corny and kinda off putting booths are extremely hard and worn out making it hard to wanna set and enjoy a meal just overall cheesey but bathroom was clean and place was clean So overall it's okay place to eat if you like grease and tacky decor but worth coming to this place just for those giant cinnamon rolls

This is a friendly place. The menu was comforting and the food was delicious. The homemade pie was a great finish to my meal.

The turkey bacon club: The bacon on the flaky, buttery croissant was smoky and wonderful. The turkey was plentiful. And the cheese was melty. The mayo, lettuce and toms work well on this sandwich. I will definitely have this sandwich again! The chicken Caesar salad: The lettuce was fresh and the Parmesan was plentiful. The Caesar dressing was perfect. The croutons really are homemade--and were my favorite part. I will definitely have this salad again. I've had their signature cranberry/nut salad, chicken salad sandwich and tuna salad sandwich before--all are pretty good but I don't crave them like I will the two items above. The latte was good. I love their coffee. The ambiance is beautiful. The tile in the main room and the different tile in the bathroom are both gorgeous. Good service too. This is a great little unique coffee shop to have a nice lunch!!

The cafe is reminiscent of small neighborhood coffee shops, mixed with Italia touches. Tables are scattered throughout, with a hidden nook for private conversations. Their menu is diversified, but still offers the standard cafe offerings. The chicken salad was sampled on this trip , and had an herby edge to it. The broccoli soup is slightly watery, but great flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcomed long conversations. A major plus? The space can be rented by the hour. They also allow outside food/drink. Unheard of , but greatly appreciated. We used it for them for an event today, and were so overwhelmed by the owners/staff. Very accommodating and easy to work with. Great space, and easily customized for your event. Thanks to the Pronto cafe staff- you made our day easier!

Messenger Coffee at Gate B47 has quickly become one of my favorite airport rituals before boarding…read more Kansas City travelers already know Messenger as one of the standout local roasters -- born from a group of passionate coffee folks who wanted to elevate Midwestern coffee culture with direct-trade beans and an emphasis on craft roasting. It's a treat to find them holding down a spot inside MCI's new terminal, offering something far better than the standard airport chain brew. My go-to order here is a cortado alongside a drip. A cortado, for those who haven't fallen into the espresso rabbit hole, is a Spanish-born drink that literally means "cut" -- espresso cut with an equal measure of warm milk. It's the middle ground between a macchiato and a cappuccino, giving you the punch of espresso with just enough silkiness to soften the edges. Messenger nails it: the espresso pulls smoky and caramel-tinged, and when paired with the milk it smooths into this balanced, nutty sweetness that lingers without being heavy. On drip, I had the Silhouette "75th Street Blend." It leaned darker -- rich undertones with a backbone of roast -- but I also caught hints of cherry brightness and a toffee finish. It's a cup that wakes you up without being one-note, and it paired perfectly with the cortado for a little pre-flight ritual of depth and balance. The service is great. Fast to complete orders, friendly and knowledgeable about the coffee without being snobby about it all. In a terminal filled with BBQ and quick-grabs, Messenger is my reset button -- a little oasis of well-crafted coffee that tastes like Kansas City's best, not just airport adequate. Highly recommend stopping here, especially if you're a traveler who values coffee with character. Next time I just need to remember to bring my own mug to use rather than the disposable Dixie's. Coffee doesn't taste the same in them and coffee of this quality deserves a good container.

I tried to redeem a $12 voucher that American Airlines sent me as compensation for a diverted flight, and the cashier was so confused about how to cash it. He cracked jokes but was incredibly slow. The dirty chai itself was awful. It barely tasted like it had espresso in it, and it had a weird aftertaste. The coffee stand is cute, but they don't offer many food options. Wouldn't come back when in this airport again.

We loved the little set up with a great amount of seating, a clean bathroom, and outlets for people who want to study or get some work done. We were a little hungry and got the empanadas and both tried the Yerba mate. We've never had the traditional yerba mate and were excited we could try it here. Once our order was ready one of the employees was happy to explain to us how to properly drink the yerba mate. She was patient, kind, and professional the whole time. There's definitely a trick to drinking it without getting the tea leaves through the straw. As we enjoyed our snack and drink we could tell the caffeine kicks in a little later. So, if you're up to trying traditional yerba mate, be aware that you'll get a gradual burst of energy a little later. I personally loved the decor and the atmosphere here. They had little knick knacks you could purchase, a small refrigerator with items to take with you as well. I got a couple of key chains for my sister and myself and my boyfriend and I have already noted that we want to come back here the next time we're in Kansas City!
