Wife & I decided to visit for breakfast. Waiter was excellent. Selections were strong - prices were inexpensive. Unfortunately-the food was not good. Ordered fried eggs. Choice came with bacon toast and hashbrowns. Eggs were as ordered. Bacon tasted ok. Hashbrowns were greasy and poor. Wife had biscuits and gravy which is served with sausage patties. The biscuits were dry and the gravy was bland. The sausage was not edible. Dry and hard to the point of crumble. Nasty. We had heard SO much positive on the place & weekends are always busy. C+ Went to lunch here with a work friend. It's a nice small town cafe. They do breakfast all day. I should have gone that way, like my co-worker did. I went with a pork tenderloin. Small town restaurants usually specialize in the pork tenderloin. This place did not. I felt like I got the last tenderloin in the bag from the back of the freezer. And the fries were terrible. The reason for the 3rd star is the service, which was wonderful. And the place was clean. I did not try the homemade pies but they have quite the variety and they look delicious. My hubby and I were out house hunting in this area and stopped here for breakfast. Little place in a strip mall and not too many cars outside but we tried it anyway. Our server was not too friendly, but the nicer we were to her, the more friendly she became. We had the usual bacon and eggs and biscuits and gravy for my hubby, The eggs, perfectly cooked, the bacon crisp and not too salty, the gravy nicely spiced, and very tasty, the potatoes that comes with it were perfectly browned. Some would say that breakfast food isn't hard to mess up, but yes, it is. Not here. We were so happy we stopped in, if we move to this area it will be a frequent stop for us, and even if we don't we would drive out for breakfast. read more

We stopped in for lunch. The special was a patty melt which came w one side--and a nice selection from which to choose. The food was made to Oder and hot--this had not been sitting around waiting for the next customer. Most importantly the cafe is clean! No trash on the floor and the tables were not sticky. Very busy and no one greeted us. after at least 5 minutes someone yelled we will be with you in a minute. 10 minutes later 2 men walked in and was told immediately to sit down anywhere and they'd be right with them. This is maybe the second time I've ever been to a local restaurant that has given me the warm small town feeling from the customers, the food, and the servers. Everyone knows each other and it makes you feel like you're visiting someone's home instead of being in a restaurant, very inviting to be in. Food is apropriately priced with the portions being generous. I had sausage and eggs scrambled and ordered the mini order of hotcakes. Eggs were cooked very well with small bits of onion and pepper adding to the flavor. Hotcakes were fluffy and delicious, also served with a good amount of butter that melted on the pancake. Sadly I'm only here for a week but this will be my go to for breakfast while I'm here! Did I mention my meal was only $8? read more

After the slightly bad experience of the other one near Parkville I tried this one. So much better. The serving staff is always friendly, upbeat, and very polite. They check on you fairly often to make sure you have all you need and to see if you need anything else which is always nice as you're not having to try and flag someone down because you've been forgotten like other places. The food comes out HOT not part of it hot and other parts cool to cold. Their cook knows how to time their cooking so you're entire meal is nice and hot. This is not easy to do but their cook can do it which is VERY nice and quite enjoyable. The food is excellent. The desserts often change which can be a little frustrating at times especially when you really are looking for to a particular dessert that they don't have that day or that time, but they frequent change allows for more desserts. This lets me try more then I normally would have. They had the best cherry pie I have ever had as it was NOT the super sweet type. Their carrot cake was excellent so I always look forward to trying a new dessert if I'm in the mood. I noticed many locals and some older people yet they all seem friendly land you can tell the ones that come often as they're known by name. It is nice to see and nice to see people actually sitting at tables talking with each other instead of paying more attention to their phones or devices. The air maybe busy and at times crazy when it gets packed but still you don't feel like you're on top of anyone and it doesn't get that loud. I came it a bit closer to closing time once and wasn't turned away like their store near Parkville. No, instead I was shown to a table and served just the same. I was not rushed, I was not forced to have my meal to go, and I even got to choose a dessert. They tended to me and yet dealt with their closing ritual, yet were still very friendly with me. The burgers on the other hand are just okay but if you are looking for a homey and old style place to eat lunch or breakfast I would recommend this to you. read more

It was my first time here and we were pretty impressed. They weren't to busy at the time we were there but the service was great and the food was also very good. I had the special,fried chicken dinner, and split it with my mom. Enough food for both of us! The chicken was juicy and had a light coating on it, which I like. Went with my grandfather who really liked the place. I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered some oatmeal and obviously they don't know how to measure water. My grandfather ordered a cinnamon roll with his meal and offered me some. It was terribly dry and over baked. I don't know how he could say they were good. I will never go back. read more
