I was in the area and decided to check it out. Im originally from Hawaii so im always looking for Hawaiian food spots when I travel. Despite the 3 star reviews, i gave it a shot anyway and honestly Im glad I did. This place is pretty good. The "pulehu" plates both the ribs and the chicken really reminded me of some guamanian food I used to get back home. That was a nice change pace instead of the usual, bbq beef, kal-bi, chicken katsu that all the Hawaiian places seem to offer. Both of these items were very good. Plates were pretty good size as well. The spam musubis were my only downer. They didnt cone out too good. Rice was super hard. Spam was really thin. But other than that, I really liked the food that i got, and the guys with liked theirs as well. I dont get out to Portland much unless im here for work but I would definitely come back to this spot. read more

We arrived just before noon on Sunday, and we're next in line. A few key points: Our orders arrived quickly, within 7 minutes once ordered. The lunch plates come with 3 scoops of rice/mac salad, and we came home with leftovers. Despite the raving reviews about the mac salad, we both felt it was lacking. It was fine, but not to rave about. We both felt it needed good old salt and pepper, which was nowhere to be found. The seating in the restaurant is par with "covid separation" and not a lot of tables but lots of floor space. For the three adults, we had to pull one of the micro-tables over with a chair so we could sit together. My plate lunch came with a sauce, and I was asked which one I wanted, but when our order arrived, guess what? Just like other reviews, no sause. It was even listed on our receipt, so how was that missed when our order was bagged? Was the chicken a bit over cooked? Yes. In fact, my "crispy chicken" should be called, "crunchy" as not only was the outside coating crispy, but so was much of the chicken meat. The sauces available at the table were one spicy and one teriyaki. I liked the slightly spicy, but the teriyaki was just sweet brown water. Was it good? Overall, yes. Was there room for improvements? Absolutely incredible experience! The food is simply outstanding--fresh & flavorful. I haven't tried all the food menu items but the ones I've tried are great tasting. Really like the Mac salad so that's a must if you like Mac. The service was equally impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The few times I've been here seem to be busy but then again I'm going during lunch and dinner time so expect a wait plus this isn't fast food. They do have a sign letting you know they are not fast food so there for takes times to cook. The location is fantastic, too--easy to find and with a relaxing vibe. Had a pretty good meal at Roxy's. I love the kahlua pork here so much. It's just perfectly moist and flavorful and fatty in the best way. If I lived closer I would order it all the time. Pineapple chicken is alright; it'd be significantly better with fresh pineapple though, I'm just not a fan of canned fruit. The people are really nice. Service is a little bit slow so don't come here if you're hangry. They do a *ton* of delivery orders so even if it looks quiet inside they're probably busy. The food took some time but as the sign says, this isn't fast food. The food was good and savory. Just what we needed for a no frills meal. I pass by this place periodically and always think to myself that we should give them a shot and finally did. Not surprisingly I had it delivered. I really liked that I could have veggies instead of just a bunch of plain white rice. It really did make the meal a lot better for me. So getting rice, veggies, and mac salad along with my meat choice was perfect with reasonable prices and portions. The mac salad was good. I think I'd cry if any Hawaiian place messed that one up. I'm usually way more about Kalua pork but their chicken was just so flavorful I think it would be my first choice. Easy to add on sauce to the order too because you know, I need to have a ton of sauce. I think everyone is in that boat, so it's good to know how easy it is with no extra cost. It seems like there's a lot of customer service complaints so I'd just recommend online ordering even if you're picking it up. read more

Food is cooked to order- we ordered ours and legit it was done as we sat down at our table. You can dine-in. Your stuff will come as if you're eating out- to go style. I got chicken teriyaki with Mac salad & rice. Now you can have 3 sides but you can choose if you want any more of one or one of all! Now as someone who hates Mac salad... this is the ONLY Mac salad I love and will eat, sorry grandma haha! You can have fountain drinks- refills but new cups due to Covid-19. Ever since Roxy's Grill opened up in Happy Valley I've been going there once every few weeks for the past few years. For as much as i love Roxy's food, I couldn't handle the constant mistakes, and the waits. I swore to never return to the HV Roxy's again when I informed them that my order was incorrect and they blamed me for not checking the cash register to ensure order accuracy and was not receptive to fixing that problem for me. When they first opened I was very patient and understanding of some of the issues since it was a new operation. I understood that they were slammed at times and that waiting is sometimes something you have to deal with with good food. However a lot of these issues persisted over time and some of them got worse over time which seems to be a result from the constant employee turnover at this location. I've seen staff standing around when the kitchen was slammed and tables in the dining area still dirty. I've had issues with the online ordering more times than I can imagine. A few times I've had my order take more than 45-55 minutes...and some of the times they've acknowledged that it was their mistake and apologized and other times they didn't. What upset me once was after telling them I had waited 45 minutes, they refused to give me the same item they just made for another customer who hadn't even arrived yet which forced me to wait longer as well. For years I've loved Roxy's and have been loyal to Roxy's as a chain and despite the issues I've stuck behind this Roxy's location, but I can no longer turn a blind eye when simple customer service issues aren't being addressed or resolved. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and encouraging others to skip this location in favor of the others. read more

Some pretty terrible customer service and people skills from the employees to the management. Employee insisted on refunding/re-charging a credit card after changing an order for another food item that costs the same, Turns out that they did not refund the tip and got double tipped. Management takes two phone calls and 24 hours to respond, only to respond with what appears to be a vague phishing text asking for the last 4 of my card number with no identifying information. As others have mentioned the food also takes a very long time by any restaurants standards. From someone with 10 years of food service experience from the front to back of house, the management seem to have a few screws loose. read more

For added side sauce they had teriyaki with sriracha in a container, or regular teriyaki in packets (gross) this place is definitely not Ate Oh Ate, but in a pinch it was good. This is my 3rd time ordering from this Roxy location and every order has been wrong. My first order I paid extra for the Mac salad. Nothing crazy just an extra side. They forgot that. I let it go because it was just a side and the first time. The 2nd time I ordered, I ordered a Loco Moco with extra patty and extra side of Mac Salad. They forgot the extra patty AND Mac salad. I had called and simply told them about the issue because I understand that it's a new restaurant that opened. The 3rd time I ordered (in the picture) I ordered 2 sunny side up eggs and as you can see. No eggs. I called again to let them know and no compensation. Just simple apology. I understand a couple of hiccups but this has become a regular occurrence that I've called and told them about. All I got in return was a simple "thanks for letting us know". I like Roxy's but just not this particular restaurant and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ordering here unless you like parts of your ordering missing and charged full price. I've gotten realllllly frustrated with this location, to the point I just don't want to come here anymore. Which is a bummer cause I was so excited when they opened up in Happy Valley. This is the third time they have forgotten my order. In a row. Literally the last 3 times I've come here, I've sat there waiting for 45+ minutes. After about 10 more minutes and wayyy more people getting their orders, I finally walked up and asked how much longer. Lo and behold, there's no ticket for my order. So they panic and throw some food in the dish and offer me a free drink for the wait. Today, sitting there waiting (again for about 45mins, thinking - no not again.......) the girl looks at me and asks my name... I see her check the tickets, then scurry back to the register and print the ticket, slap some food in a dish and say "thanks for waiting". Like???? Dude come on. Not sure if it's the 'new' girl thats been behind the counter or what... But it's just ridiculous at this point that every time I've been there as of late, somehow the ticket goes missing or not printed and there I am just sitting there waiting for forever. Me and the family have been going to Roxy's for years and we're most often satisfied with the food. However, yesterday I went with my son and the first thing I noticed was there weren't really any other customers. Strange for a Saturday at about dinner time, you usually can't find a parking spot and the place is packed. We parked right in front and there were plenty of other spaces. We got our usual kalua pork and I got a spam musubi. The pork was so dry and salty we could not eat it. The rice was either old and dried up or wasn't thoroughly cooked. The rice in the musubi was the same and the seaweed was extremely soggy. The only thing either of us ate was the Mac salad, which was delicious. I don't know about anyone else but $20 a plate for some Mac salad is a pretty hefty price tag. I myself will not be going back to Roxy's. We have several other Hawaiian eateries where the food is far superior and you get alot more for your money. NoHo in northeast Portland or Ate-oh-Ate in either Woodstock or Laurelhurst are very good.
