After reading the great reviews, I'd wanted to get over there, and I'm glad I finally did. The ribs were perfect, the pulled pork was as good as I've ever had. When the brisket is solid but the least exciting bite, you've got a great platter. The mac and cheese side is excellent. I loved the slaw, though I'd skip it next time due to more onion than I'm cool with. Sauces are okay, but would love a spicy option. Honestly, none of the meat begged for extra sauce, I just love sauce. Seating was limited and the place is pretty small, so probably hit and miss during peak hours. Loved the food. Absolutely incredible BBQ--must try! OK, so first off, the service was amazing. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and they'll bring the food right to you. Heads up--this isn't a fancy or romantic date-night type of place, but trust me, the food more than makes up for it. We ordered the pastrami brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage, and spicy sausage--all delicious. The spicy macaroni and cheese? Oh baby. Probably the best spicy mac & cheese I've ever had. Amazing brisket! The best I've had in the PNW. This place is bustling and there's often a line. Items can be sold out especially on the weekends so get in the queue early. My favorite is the two meat plate with brisket and sausage. The sides are exquisite. It's a small operation, but the staff is quite friendly. It's on the pricey side, but worth it. If you like authentic Texas barbecue and you live in Portland or are visiting, this is your spot! in a small A-frame building this place gets filled up fast. The only downside is that they don't have a bathroom. You have to use the porta potty outside, but it does have a code so it's not trashed at least. read more

Wow. The line was out the door at 12:05 and they opened at 12 on that day. 100% worth the wait. We went on a Saturday so we could get the pork belly burnt ends (my favorite!) we also indulged in a BBQ parfait (yes, you heard that right!). I wasn't sure what it was going to be but it had all my favorite ingredients-basically a galicky, creamy mac n cheese bowl with your choice of meat-brisket for me-topped with fried onions. I'm in heaven, I could eat this every day and be happy. My husband loves their smoked turkey and sausage. We also got a side of fries, cause why not? They are sort of taste like curly fries to me but they are straight. The honey mustard is my favorite to dip it in. Next time I would opt for the regular mac and cheese and the french fries as sides. The french fries were absolutely DELICIOUS. They were crispy, airy, hot and well seasoned. I would come back just to get those fries! This is more of a self serve spot, so you order at the counter whenever you're ready. They give you a table number and then it's time for open seating. We got there just before the dinner rush so there was plenty of seats, but shortly after there was a line out the door and all tables were full. Be prepared to wait in line when you visit Bottos. Parking is limited but we found a spot close by. We came in on a weekday for dinner hoping to try the burnt ends and stew. Unfortunately they had sold out of both. Be aware that if you come later in the day several meats could be sold out leaving limited choices. The staff was very friendly, helped us make our choices, and let us know what was available and sold out. We went with a 2 meat & a 3 meat plate and got the last of the turkey & pulled pork and also chose brisket & sausage. For our sides we chose coleslaw, spicy Mac & cheese and regular Mac & cheese. Every meat we ordered was prepared deliciously. Each one was full of flavor, smoked perfectly and served hot. The coleslaw & spicy Mac & cheese were very good, the regular Mac & cheese was just ok. We also tried several of the sauces and every one of them were delicious. If only I could get corn bread here I would have been in bbq heaven! There are several tables and bar type seating available inside the restaurant but it gets very busy at prime meal times so seating can be very limited. I was recently in Portland, Oregon and we all were in the mood for BBQ. Botto's popped up a few times during my search so we decided to stop by. I'm so glad we did. The brisket was fall apart tender, the turkey was juicy like it was slow cooked in flavor itself, and the smash burger was one of the best I've ever had! Crispy edges, juicy center, absolute perfection! The fries were cooked in beef tallow and had the best flavor! Not sure if I've ever had anything cooked in beef tallow and I'm on a mission to eat as many things I can that has. That stuff adds amazing flavor. They have a rotating day to day special menu, we came Sunday so our special was Burnt Ends. Ordered a 3 meat platter, which comes with two sides. We got double brisket, burnt ends, spicy mac and collard greens. We also added another side of regular mac for our daughter. They also have a list of sauce offerings. I like spicy anything and went with spicy white and my husband tried the rest. Meats were rubbed and cooked well and tender. Our brisket was half and half on being juicy and dry. I ended up with the dry bit and was a bit disappointed but the spicy white sauce was so fire I ignored it. Burnt ends luckily had a small restock so we got some and it was cooked well and juicy, but more sweet in flavoring so it balanced well with dip. The spicy mac is SPICY and not kid friendly (jalapeños and visible pepper seeds spicy) but it was so so good. Almost like a spicy jaalpeno alfredo mac if I could describe it. A great pairing with all the meat and the spicy white sauce. I don't like collard greens or mustard, but I enjoyed the collard greens here as well as their mustard sauce to my surprise! Botto's is closed Monday and Tuesday, and every other day has a different special available. I have been here a handful of times and have never been disappointed by the food. Stuff sells out, so try to come early. I'm a huge fan of the beef ribs (Friday special) and mac and cheese- both variations are amazing, but I like the regular one best. I appreciate the choice of sauces, and I always get all 4. Seating inside can be difficult to find at peak times, but there is outside seating available. One of the best barbecue spots in Portland! Maybe the best of the ones I've tried, honestly. They had delivery available at one point on their website. I ordered once and my order was never delivered by the courier despite being picked up. Botto's was amazingly generous and allowed me to come pick up my order at no charge later in the evening. I imagine this is part of the reason they no longer offer delivery, sadly.
