I wish I could give Roxy's 6 stars honestly... They are by far the best Hawaiian food in the greater Portland area. I always get the Shoyu chicken lunch plate, which comes with two scoops of rice and scoop of the mac salad. The chicken and mac are too die for, and even the rice is amazing when it soaks up the sauce from the chicken. I could eat here everyday I swear. The nice thing is that the whole plate only costs around $7 and the portions are huge! I always have enough for lunch the next day, and I have a big appetite. It may take awhile to get your food because there is usually a line of people, but you can always call ahead and save some time. But the line is well worth the wait read more

I hate to write this review because Roxy's has been my FAVORITE spot for years! But we drove a hour to get lunch and were so disappointed. I don't know if it's a new cook or new owners but the food was so bland. The teri burger was just a burnt hard burger no teri flavor, and my husband's $12 rib plate was 6 or 7 small chunks of fatty flavorless meat. I was seriously so upset when I left. And the mac salad....ughh I have been craving that forever and bought 2 extra sides and it had no taste to it. Don't drink the soda either cause it's watered down to. It wasn't just our taste buds either because the people next to us kept dumping their side out and trying different ones cause it was so nasty. Roxys rocks, great food and huge portions for about what you'd spend eating fast food. Bring cash is the only thing and there not open mondays. The food is always consistently good, the chicken katsu is fried just right, if you don't get here early for lunch sometimes they run out of stuff. Best for To-Go orders as the seating is woefully inadequate. I will never eat at Roxy's Island Grill again. I went into the bathroom and someone peed all over the seat and the whole bathroom smelled like urine ( I guess they are too cheap to hire someone to clean it ). They put way too much sugar in the sauce because all you can taste is sugar and the chicken I got was burned. ( Don't go there if you are diabetic). The garbage rarely gets collected and I even seen flies buzzing around it the cheap little black plastic garbage can in the eating area. You would think they would play Hawaiian music there but all they played is this obnoxious Reggae music and it is freezing cold in the restaurant. They are barely staffed so as a result you will be waiting in a long line for at least 20 minutes to get your food ( they must be cheap about hiring staff ). I waited for about half an hour to get my food. They have a new location on Jenkins Rd but it has no more seating that the old restaurant so after waiting for about a half an hour to get your food you won't have a place to sit. Plan on eating in your car if you go to this restaurant. They have this ugly bright yellow paint inside the restaurant and there is even a piece of tin roofing in the bamboo barrier ( it looked like something from a third world country). None of the workers looked Hawaiian. Instead they were all a bunch of young white kids that did nothing but talk about what they did last night ( just go to McDonalds or Burger King for that experience). The food was not very Hawaiian because all they serve is rice and not much else. The food is really more like Chinese food than it is Hawaiian, practically everything thing they serve is mainly rice not much else. They serve a of dishes like Teriyaki Chicken which is not a Hawaiian dish so if your if your looking for a Hawaiian experience all you will find is a high priced Chinese restaurant. I would say the food is great but unfortunately most of the time 3 times out of 10 they actually have the item that I like on the menu. Seriously, I understand once, maybe even twice but on a consistent basis this is un real. Not only is it they are out but how they act, I am only 1 person so I guess in their eyes it doesn't really matter. Interesting but I do order catering for our office, Ive thought about using them but it seems they are just to unreliable to use for that from what I have seen on just trying to get one dish. Not even once has anyone ever said we are really sorry you drive all the way over here multiple times and never get what you came here for, so lesson learned on my part. Find a new place! I wanted to give this two stars, however since I am only experiencing them through a catered event I will put 3 instead. What they said they were offering on the flyer was chicken, pork or vegitarian. After standing in a very long line for which we bought tickets earlier in the line to eat there we get up to the front and want 4 vegitarian and one chicken. They explained the chef forgot the vegitarian at the store, we assummed being that this event was down the street that they would go get the veggie stuff. They however explained they were not going to, we asked for our money back they said that they were unable to do that and offered doubling the rice and macaroni. After speeking to someone in charge we did get the money back but I felt they were unprepared to cater an event, they brought no vegetarian options, no teriyaki sauce, no soy sauce, no chili sauce. I learned later in the evening that they ran out of food before the last of the line had eaten. With all this said I would like to try their food in the resturaunt but I believed I needed to write this in case anyone out there is thinking of having them cater their event. read more

This place is a little overrated & in my personal opinion, not authentic. The pork has no flavor, Mac salad is just plain mayo & macaroni. Chicken was charred & tasted like dust. Saw this one night while at the bowling alley next door. Finally had the opportunity to try it. My husband and I both has teriaki chicken and enjoyed it. Good size serving of nicely flavored chicken, two scoops of rice and one scoop of mac salad (yum!) for $6 bucks. Lots of chicken dishes to choose from. We enjoyed it and will definitely go again. If you are not sure of what you want then ask for a sample and the staff will gladly give you a sample of what you might like or want. The staff is always friendly and welcome to greet you as you come in. Yes it may be a small place....but it is bursting with great taste, awesome sides, and always has that Island flair and enviorment. Nothing but the best food and always great food is served here, no one leave's with out a smile on their face and a full belly of OMG and awesome food left to take home, never a complaint. My wife and I drive from Happy Valley every two week's just so we can have the island's back and we always say OMG that was awesome food , why go get southern bb-q when Roxy's blow's all others out of the water...try their fish as well, and any other traditional dishes they offer and you will see and taste for yourself that this is the TOP of the World for all of the Island fair.
