So here it was 10 am still breakfast. My husband and I sitting here waiting for 10:30 am for it to become lunch... We don't mind it as this was our fault. It has like a weird smell in here like a mechanics smell. Idk maybe wax from the floor or the "new" smell. We're about to walk up beings it's 10:32 am but want to give the employees a few minutes extra time to finish prepping. We've been the only ones here for the last 30 minutes even in drive thru. Please tell me this isn't a warning to walk out. It's very clean in here not a speck of dirt or trash on the floor. The tables are very nice and clean. Ok walking up to order. 10:35 am... 10:52am Burger was delicious but the fries tasted horrible! Tasted like pure mop water.. No I haven't mentioned it to management because everyone else around me now are eating theirs. I honestly think the taste is disgusting. Sweet tea is good with a splash of lemonade. Roy Rogers - Yuck! - Fast Food Near Me - Gambrills, Maryland

I have always been a fan of Roy Rogers as a fast food concept. I am glad they're finally coming down south again. I say "down south" because Roy Rogers has been relegated to northern areas like Frederick Maryland etc. This is my second trip to this particular Roy Rogers in Crofton Maryland. I live in Crofton, so I pay special attention to new restaurants and stores when they open. The first trip to this Roy's was average. Drive-through wasn't fast, or slow. It was average service and when I got the food it was OK. Not great, but not bad. I must add that this was right around the time when they opened, and they were probably still getting their groove together. This time around (about a month after my first visit) however, I went inside the restaurant to get my food from the counter. I have to say, it was one of the best fast food experiences in recent memory. The guy at the front register was super polite and efficient. The food was ready and at the counter for me to pick up in about 30 seconds. It was lightning fast. I got a burger and mashed potatoes. The food was hot and fresh. This is how fast food should be. I love the fact that Roy's has a Fixin's bar, and I love to pile my burger high with veggies. All - in - all, a great experience. The staff seems like they put the customer first, which seems like it would be common sense, but other fast food places just don't do that these days. I will definitely be back soon! read more

Wow, fast food is really getting expensive. Two piece thigh, mashed potato,drink, and a biscuit was $7.49 (before tax). A two piece (breast and wing), mashed potato, drink, and a biscuit was $9.18. The chicken was cooked good, but tasted bland from lack of seasoning. Actually tasted just like Popeye's chicken without seasoning. The other items were ok. Ordered a small (maybe 4 ounces) cole slaw for $2.29 and we did not like the taste. Would not go back for chicken, but might try the roast beef. Service was fine and the place was clean. read more

Fried chicken is supposed to be crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. They definitely have the crunch factor down pat. It was well seasoned, crunchy, but the deliciousness ended at the skin. The meat hidden under this delicious coating was over cooked, dry, and sad. I don't typically eat dark meat... thighs, for example, are usually overly moist and too greasy for my liking, however, this chicken was so over cooked that a thigh was actually palatable. I have either waited an incredibly long time at the drive-thru, received a severely rare and bloody roast beef sandwich, or been served by a manager at the drive-thru who was very obviously high on opiates... When I order I would say # 3 double the meat please. And wasn't done and don't know if the cashier ignored me or not. LOVED Roy Rogers as a child when my grandmother would bring me to the one at Harundale Mall. Thus, was very much looking forward to this opening up in my neighborhood. First, the good --- the french fries taste exactly like I remember! Also good -- the roast beef sandwiches are delicious and tender. Now the bad --- and there is ALOT of bad. 1) WAY OVERPRICED. $9.50 for a roast beef meal, or $7.30 for a hamburger meal is a joke. Way too expensive for what it is 2) The roast beef, if you want any decent amount of beef, you need to order the large beef. The regular is so few slices its almost all roll. (so they get you there too). 3) I tried the hamburger once, and it was awful. Small, no flavor. Pretty bad. Stick to the roast beef, avoid the hamburger. You are warned. read more

I've been waiting for DECADES for Roy Rogers to return to the area! It was pretty busy when I visited, but my order was ready within a reasonable amount of time. I was so happy to see the food has not changed! My roast beef was a little rare, but they still shave (actually chip) the meat and pour au jus over it before serving...so good! Worst Roy Rogers ever (not including crappy Jersey Turnpike locations). First the guy at the register gives the guy in front of me the wrong change, the girl behind the counter has 14 inches of dirty unkempt hair not covered. Where I come from, a visor is not a hat. Garbage fixtures are right next to filthy fixins bar. Condiments all over the fixins bar. No chicken ready at lunch. One female employee eating her lunch at a table yet yelling up to employee behind the counter. Another employee doing paper work taking up a table at lunch time while people are looking for a place to sit. People waiting for over ten minutes for their food. The food was mediocre at best. Friendly service, but it took a long time to make our order and was not impressive at all.

There is always a break in period for a place to find their rhythm, so I waited until today to try this new location. It is not rocket science, you greet the customer, you take their order, and you then fill it correctly with quality food. I visited in the middle of the afternoon, avoiding both the lunch and dinner crowds. The young man at the cash register was not bad, but it did take a bit of silence to get him to realize he needed to ask for my order. I ordered a combo, and was rather surprised at the cost. The same order at the LaPlata location (a little over a week ago) was about $8.00. Here it was almost $11. I don't know if the cashier, rand it up incorrectly, or if this location has prices that are than much higher. I waited for my food, and it came out quickly, Before I left the counter, I tasted one of the french fries, and they were stone cold. I told the young man that the fries were cold, and I wanted to see a manager. He took my bag, went back to the fry section and came back saying that there would be hot fries in a few minutes. I again asked (demanded) to see a manager, and someone came out from the back stating he was one. I told him that I really did not appreciate the attempt to serve cold fries, and was even more unhappy with the attitude of the young man who thought that replacing them would solve the problem. I told the manager that I would rather just get a refund, and go somewhere else, rather than deal with poor service The manager was apologetic, and stated that he knew there were serious problems . He refunded my money, and also gave me my meal. He took a bad situation and made it a lot better. I walked out to my car, and before I could pull out, a gentleman who had been working in the dining area came out to ask if I had accidentally left my drink on the fixin's bar. I had not, but someone going the extra mile gives hope that this location can be turned around. They may have even gotten 4 stars, but when I opened my (should have been) double burger, it was not. Out of three things in my order (a burger, fries, and a soda) the only thing they did not mess up on was the soda (and that was self serve) Hopefully they can get things worked out, but it is going to be a while before I return. We've looked forward to getting reacquainted with Roy Rogers food. Great roast beef sandwiches for both of us; side salad was fresh, mashed potatoes & gravy tasty, and the baked apples satisfyingly sweet & cinnamony. Service was good and even though it was lunchtime and the place was crowded, wait time for food was certainly reasonable. The Fixins Bar had a person dedicated to its cleanliness full-time - a smart touch to a spot that can quickly get out of control. We look forward to going back! read more

I took the whole family when we were in the area. I had a Double-R that I remember from my childhood. It was ok with a little BBQ sauce. My wife had the roast beef and the quantity of the regular was light. The kids had a burger and chicken. No comment and they ate it. The price is clearly above fast food range though. I don't see how an average family can justify fast food with a x4 meal costing $40. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because I really do enjoy their food. However, this morning I waited in the DRIVE THRU for 20 minutes only to be told that they were trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out how to heat my cinnamon roll, because their microwave was broken. Roy's is my all time favorite. Hopefully they get it together in the next month. We have been twice and both times not up to par with the food. Mashed burger squished bun off flavor horsey sauce.This location is way too small. Only one small fixens bar and everyone is trying to get at it because it is in a werid location right where the seating is in the way Turn it around to face the registers! Stopped by for lunch this past Tuesday. There were about 8-10 people seated around the restaurant and 3 in front of us to order. The older woman cashier was very friendly and took orders promptly with a smile on her face. Kitchen seemed to be running smoothly as employees worked together to get orders filled. There was no yelling or barking of orders as I had witnessed in past visits. Tried to find a table to wait for our order but all of the unoccupied tables were dirty.I had to wipe down my own table so we could sit. I then noticed the majority of the people in the dining room were all waiting for their meals also. It was to be expected since it was lunch time. The prepared orders seemed to come out in timely fashion. While waiting I used the restroom to wash my hands and other than the dirty tables this was my only other complaint : The bathroom was not clean and it was obvious that it hadn't been anytime in the past few hours. Not filthy, just needed some attending to. Back to the table and my wife had gotten our meals. Double R burger:perfect! I loved them as a kid and still do.Chicken: still puts KFC or any other chicken place to shame. Fries were nice and hot,not over salted. My wife had a cheeseburger and side garden salad.She said that both were good,but noticed the "Fixins" bar needed to be restocked since it was almost depleted from the lunch traffic. I can honestly say I have always been a Roy Rogers fan and was happy to see this one to open close by.
