No living being who relies on air conditioning in this Texas heat should EVER do business with Royal Air. This is factual history from a consumer who tried to be fair and give the benefit of the doubt, up until this writing.
March 2019. Royal Air was dispatched through our home warranty company to service our a/c which was not cooling. The technician stated that the evaporator coil needed to be replaced, and was not covered by the home warranty company, and also because of the age of the unit, recommended that we upgrade/replace the entire system. Just to note, we later learned that the evaporator coil would have been covered. We have also learned that our home warranty no longer contracts with Royal Air, due to their performance, which should speak volumes. Within a few hours of the technician's visit, they sent out a salesperson, and a few hours after that, a whole new system was installed, inside and out. A year later, early July 2020, our new system stopped cooling. This ordeal lasted for two weeks as we were dealing with technicians not showing up, or not being able to resolve the issue. They finally determined that the condenser coil needed to be replaced due to leaks, and replaced July 13. On July 17, 2020, another technician came out to install a media filter box, that was supposed to be done at the initial installation. He detected a hissing sound coming from the newly installed coil, and Royal Air would send Ulises back to check the coil he replaced. By August 11, the system got the all clear. We have kept up with our maintenance. September 2023, the unit stopped cooling. Between September 1st and October 9th they made five or six trips where they repeatedly welded Freon leaks, replaced capacitor, and txv valve. After each visit the unit would work for a couple of days, then break down again. During these ordeals we have attempted to reach, George, the owner, by leaving requests with staff for call backs, e-mails, voice mail, and text messages, with never a response. One year later, September 19, 2024, our system is not cooling. Contacted Royal Air, paid the $195 fee, which they collect before coming out. Again, the condenser coil has a leak. The options they gave us were to pay $4,900 to install a new unit that day. Or go through our ten year warranty and replace the coil AGAIN, but this time at cost of $1,900 for a processing fee and refrigerant, AND we would have to wait 30 days for installation. Also, the 10 year warranty is only on the individual components, but not in the unit as a whole. This unit has been problematic the whole five years we've had it. We stated we should not have to pay anything, as the unit was faulty from the start. By the way, George does not respond to customers and try to resolve issues, but he definitely was calling his field technician this day while at the appointment to try to sucker us into another sale, with this outrageous pricing. We chose to continue to be uncomfortable, and to keep sweating than to deal with them again. A very expensive lesson learned, as we overpaid for the unit they initially installed which was a defective unit. If there is any way that we can join with any other affected consumers of Royal Air, I am willing and seeking an Avenue in which to do so.Royal Air has a F RATING WITH THE BBB. read more
