Royal Air promotes itself with slogans like "Houston's Heat Doesn't Wait. Neither Do We." and advertises itself as a trusted residential and commercial HVAC company. Based on my personal experience, I cannot agree with those claims. I want other Texas homeowners to know what my family has gone through so they can make an informed decision before purchasing an HVAC system from this company. On November 30, 2025, we purchased a 4-ton Carrier AC system from Royal Air. One of the main reasons we chose this company was the 10-year warranty they heavily advertised and included in our contract. At the time, we believed we were investing in dependable equipment backed by reliable service. Looking back, it has become one of the biggest purchasing regrets we've ever made. On July 2, 2026, our AC stopped working. We immediately called the company using the phone number listed on their website and marketing materials. Instead of reaching an office where we could speak with someone who could actually help, every call was routed to what appeared to be a call center that simply took messages. We were never provided a direct number for a manager, supervisor, or anyone with authority to resolve our issue. On July 2, I spent more than two hours on hold without getting any meaningful assistance. On July 3, we were told a technician would come out on July 5. The appointment was canceled, and no repair was made. After calling again on July 5, we were rescheduled for July 8. A technician finally arrived on July 8, but unfortunately the visit solved nothing. The technician explained that he was only there to diagnose the problem and submit a report. He told us he did not have the proper equipment or parts to complete the repair. His exact words were: "I am only a technician. That's all I am out here to do--to check it and report the issue." So after waiting nearly a week, we were still left without air conditioning during temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Since that visit, our experience has been complete silence. We sent multiple emails to royalairhouston@gmail.com and continued calling almost every day. As of July 21, 2026, we still had not received any meaningful communication about when our system would actually be repaired. During one phone call, we were told that a sensor had been ordered and they were still waiting for a control board. However, no one could tell us: When the parts were ordered. When they were expected to arrive. When the repair would be scheduled. Why no one had communicated any updates to us. While trying to understand the problem ourselves, we also learned that the sensor installed in our system appeared to be an older sensor that is reportedly no longer manufactured and has been replaced by a newer version. This raised an obvious question for us: Why would a newly installed 2025 Carrier system contain an older, discontinued sensor? We still have not received an explanation. One thing I will say is that Royal Air moved very quickly when it came to making the sale. Our system was installed almost immediately. Unfortunately, after the installation was complete, it felt as though the customer service disappeared. To make matters worse, we are still making monthly payments on an expensive HVAC system that has not been repaired under warranty. Because our family could not continue living in a home without air conditioning during the Texas summer, we were forced to purchase four window AC units, spending approximately $1,000 out of pocket just to keep our home livable while waiting weeks for repairs. We also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). In Royal Air's response to the BBB, the company stated that it would honor the 10-year warranty, that parts were on order, and that it would communicate with us. As of this writing, our experience has been that we have received little to no communication directly from the company despite those statements. Another disappointment was the lack of follow-up from the salesperson. Before the sale, we were told that if we ever had questions or needed help, we could reach out directly. After the installation, our attempts to contact that person went unanswered. No customer should have to spend weeks without air conditioning during a Texas summer while receiving little communication about the status of their warranty repair. Customers deserve timely updates, accountability, and a clear plan for resolving issues. This review reflects my personal experience with Royal Air. I encourage anyone considering doing business with them to read reviews carefully, ask detailed questions about warranty service, and understand what support is actually available after the sale--not just during it. I hope sharing our experience helps other families make an informed decision.

Worst AC company ever!! They installed our AC and furnace and failed to weld properly, or at all. We had no idea until the refigerant all leaked out. We called them and they want 200$ to diagnose the problem we already had a nearby AC company diagnose. I told the (non English speaking) woman we have photos we can send where they could clearly see the problem. We need it fixed. Our refrigerant slowly leaked out because the welding was so bad. It has taken awhile, but is now VERY noticeable. They have been out for biannual checks and maintenance and never saw anything. I cannot speak to anyone that speaks english, asked for a supervisor and was told there isn't any. When I requested to speak to a manager or have a number to the office, she hung up on me. And when I called back, they didn't answer the phone. I would NEVER recommend this fly by night company and it is apparent on reviews that I am not the only one they have ripped off and not provided service after the sale.

However, after checking our AC system and completing preventing maintenance for a really fair fee, Jason concluded that our AC system is in very good condition and it was more Thermostat wrong messaging than the AC system itself. My wife and I were extremely appreciated and happy Jason's professionalism as AC Technician and most of all for his/their honestly. I will definitely recommend this company to anyone, and I will hire them next time to check and do whatever maintenance in our AC system if needed. Thank you, Richmond's Air, for excellent service.

I really appreciate James for showing up the same day that I reached out for help on Yelp. He responded within minutes and came by my house after his doctor appointment. I already knew what was the issue with the AC as the previous AC company who works only for home warranty companies, came out 3 times and only did a band-aid job that lasted only 2 weeks. I knew it was out of freon because the AC was leaking freon. James was able to schedule for an early morning appointment to repair the leak the following day. He put in more freon in the meantime so my house will have air conditioning until they can repair it. The next morning, Chris and his crew showed up as promised, first thing in the morning and fixed the leak. I will definitely use Richmond's Air again in the future, but for now, hopefully this leak repair will last me for a few years before having to call for service again. Hopefully my next call to Richmond's Air will be a yearly maintenance type of deal and not to fix a leak! I definitely recommend this company. As a PSA, please, please, please STAY AWAY from home warranty service companies! If you must purchase one, stay away from Fidelity National. I won't mention the name of the HVAC company Fidelity National sent to fix my AC and then denied my claim and I had to pay over $1300 out of pocket for a band-aid fix that lasted only 2 weeks!

He then proceeded to the roof (where the compressor is) and determined that the capacitor is bad (changed). He also said that there is a leak, as the Freon was empty. We had set the next day for his next visit to fill the system with Freon and add a dye (a leak detector), but did not show up after multiple calls. Got a different company for a recheck. The Freon was full, and there was a fuse removal/disconnect (in the control box next to the compressor) that was obviously done by Ruben (no one touched the system since the original installation). And guess what: the system fired up once the fuse was connected, and started cooling like a charm. In summary: Ruben obviously tampered with the power supply to make it look as if the system was dead. There was no need for take down of the coil cover to check for leaks, there was no leak, and the Freon was full. The guy is a liar and a fraud. Don't let him get close to your house. If there was an option for negative stars, I would give him - minus 10.
