The nacho had a chili sauce and was very wet/runny making the chips soggy. The beer cheese had good flavor but was very clumpy. The protein (beef brisket) was okay flavored but a bit fatty. Yuletide is upon us, and a scotch ale with spice has got me extra nice. This brewery is one where every drink is a sink in the deliciousness department. It truly is surprising when the styles of beer are less than my usual desirables, but they turn out to be crushables. Even the richer drinks felt like I could handle a pitcher. The lighter ones, shone brighter than suns. Each sip made my mouth drip with the anticipation of more gustatory pleasure. Then the location, a Euro theme, it mixes well with the Cask high beam. First stop of our beer bus trip. This place is warm and inviting. Staff opened a couple hours early for our group. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Great craft small batch beers. My faves were the Curiosity IPA. Crisp but not too bitter and the Staycation Sunset. They have a lot of tasty brews and always some seasonal specials. The decor is eclectic. Oh, how fabulous! I had been meaning to come here for awhile. It was a quiet night and we arrived late and sat outside. The kids had ice cream and we had some stuffed jalapeños. We had just eaten dinner, so we weren't starved. Also had two old fashioned, which were above average, but not the best I've ever tried. The beer brings back memories from my time living in Europe and I guarantee that you won't find better anywhere else locally. In addition to the amazing beer, they have a decent selection of appetizers and flat breads if you are hungry. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about beers and the process. One thing that annoys me when going into a craft beer bar is the staff not knowing about the intricacies of the different selections. But that was not the case here, they explained in detail the different brews. They also have a pretty nice patio out front so you can enjoy your beer and food outside. Royal Docks is a successful brewery. It's located in Jackson Township close to Canton. They have so many beers on tap. All of these are good. They also have a small food menu. All the beer that I've tried is good. It has a variety of styles. They have some very hoppy and some are sweet. A sweet one is the Crime Of Passionfruit. It's about $5 for a pint. This is kind of like mixing beer and juice, it's too sweet. As for the food, it's not bad. The food is an afterthought, it seems. It just takes so long to order anything. They will take forever to make it, so only order if you have plenty of time. Beer is the important thing here. It's good. Just get that. read more

We were referred by the owner of Lost Trail Winery about this place. We haven't been to a brewery in the area previously. We stopped here and another brewery on this day. Stopped and selected 6 beers to sample. Each of the beers were refreshing and good. I was happy to have the opportunity to try the beer. I took a 4 pack of the west coast IPA home. They had another beer that tasted so darn good called the Savoir Faire which was so damn good. It had raspberry and blackberry sweetness with chocolaty malt. This might be the best of the brew houses trending right now. The food is consistently great- tastes fresh, and everything I've tried has bold flavor. The flatbreads are great, my favorite is still the scotch egg. Salads and soup have all made me happy. The chicken and waffles, while not the best I've ever had, was a huge portion- chicken was crunchy outside and waffles were crisp and fluffy outside on the inside. The only dish I don't understand is the jalapeño poppers- the peppers were raw, making them tongue burningly uncomfortable. The beers are amazing. Go for Yuletide alone. The spicy notes hit your nose first, and the taste puts any other Christmas ale to shame. (Drink while cold though, not good if allowed to go warm). The other standout is the Deathly Mallows, dark, chocolaty, with toasted marshmallow top notes. Baba Yaga is the other regular favorite. These beers are really the only brand I've tried where I can taste all of the notes listed in the description, a taste explosion versus a sweet, muddled, bud light flavor. This was a disappointing visit. :( I have been dying to visit royal docks for months now and we made it our final stop on a trip to Akron/canton from Columbus. We weren't greeted and waited quite a while at 2 of the only 6ish bar stool seats to be noticed. People kept coming up right next to me to get served and finally a guy asked if we were doing ok. We love this place! Their flatbreads are delicious as is their selection of beer. I tried the French onion soup tonight which was very good but the buffalo loaded fries were HOT. It mentioned ghost pepper cheese but these verged on inedible which was a bummer. Am I allowed to say da*n in a review? Cause Royal Docks Brewing done did the da*n thing!! My friend and I were looking for a low key place to have couple of drinks and play some chess. We brought our own board and showed up around 4pm. There was only one other table there, and the friendly staff were all wearing masks. They also had hand sanitizer readily available and all tables were placed a significant distance apart. I also loved that you could place orders and pay on your phone. On top of the great service, both the food and drinks were next level. We ordered two flights and adored every beer. The PAV's blonde stout was unlike anything I'd ever had and stood out as one of the best beers I'd ever consumed. We shared the jalapeño poppers, Loaded Mexican fries and a Dutch egg flatbread. (Pardon the lack of use of actual menu names. I forgot to note them!) Literally every single beer and food item we had was mind blowing. The atmosphere was chill and welcoming. I've been enjoying their beer up in Cleveland for years and I finally made the pilgrimage down to Canton, Ohio to check out the source. The pub is bright and clean with lots of outdoor dining space and plenty of big screens for the sports fan. I had a flight of cool beers we can't get in the CLE and all of them were great. We were most impressed with the food selection. There was a lot to try but settle on the loaded fries and Thai peanut flatbread. Both were excellent. I see that there are now four locations maybe I'll try them all....until they open up a spot in The Land! read more

Picked up a 6 Pack of their Summer Infused Pilsner, Backyard Crusher, that will be prefect for this Summer. Enjoyed the atmosphere ... They have both inside and outside seating. Also check out my picture of the women's bathroom....clean and I never seen so many tolietries (have almost whatever you could possibly need). 3 starts for the food. It was "okay". The BBQ pork was drenched in generic sauce. The dough for the flatbread was not done enough and with the sloppy BBQ pork poured on top, it made the dough worse. On a recent trip to Ohio, we decided to go try out Royal Docks. So glad we did! Overall, the restaurant has sort of a British Pub meets American Craft Brewery vibe. There is a small bar, lots of seating, and the door in the front rolls up garage door style out to a patio. I decided to try a flight of beers and also a sample of one more. After my 6th beer, the bartender asked me which one I liked the most. Honestly, I couldn't answer...I liked them all! Every beer I had was really solid. We also had the Scotch Egg Pizza. The portion was perfectly sized to share. The flavor was really good and went perfect with the beer! I loved the beer so much that I grabbed two 6 packs on the way out. My boyfriend and I came here as a part of the summit brew path. We actually came here on our anniversary because they had a lot of food options as well as the beer. It ended up being one of our favorites of the path. It's not a huge restaurant but they have a decent amount of seating. We came in the winter and I got the spiced Christmas ale that was perfect for the weather and even came with a cute garnish on the top. All of the beers that we tried here were great. The food we got was really good too. The wings were crispy and tasty but the star of the show were the Parmesan crusted tater tots with aioli sauce. Went for a Bach cello performance on a Monday night for some very chill baroque music in a trendy setting. It's not a large brewery, but they do have great food, although I'd like to see more healthy appetizers. I went with the olives because it was the only snack-sized food on the menu that wasn't smothered in cheese or dairy. The olives were very tasty! I appreciated the wine and cider selections as well because I'm not the biggest beer drinker. The bartenders were really nice and helpful and the wait staff cleared tables and were attentive. One thing that slightly annoyed me: this place was FREEZING for the first hour ( from about 6:45-8pm). Their ceiling fans were on full blast and you could see many people with coats on, hair being ruffled by the wind, napkins being blown off the tables. I was moments from speaking to the manager about it (because it wasn't just me...you could see lots of people were uncomfortable), but suddenly the fans stopped, reversed direction, and circulated warm air instead. Thank goodness! After reading the manager's reply on my post, I have a question: I think it's great that you offer dairy-free flatbreads!! But your online menu does not reflect this as an option. Am I missing something? Also, I would not consider fish & chips and crab cakes "healthy". read more

Being a Cleveland girl, it is not often I make my way down to the Canton area unless it's to the airport. However, I had heard many good things about Royal Docks so I had to make the trip. The 45 minute drive was well worth it. While the brewery was pretty busy, my boyfriend and I were able to grab one of the last open tables in the brewpub. We were a little confused on how to order beers/food at first, but luckily one of the super nice employees let us know we could go to the bar to order or simply find any employee walking around with an iPad and they could take our orders as well. As someone in the beer industry, I ordered the flight to try as many of their brews as possible. My favorite was the Crimes of Passionfruit IPA! It was light but still had plenty of hop character. The subtle notes of passionfruit were delicate and not over-powering. Definitely a refreshing summer beer for warm nights! The beer wasn't the only highlight, the food was also just as great. I ordered the Kensington salad with grilled chicken. OMG I must say it was one of the best salads I've had in awhile. No joke. My only regret was not taking a picture of it because it was huge and beautiful. It featured fresh greens with goat cheese, bacon, pecans, green apple, cucumber, with a poppy seed dressing. It was the kind of salad I'm sure I'll have cravings for frequently, it was that good. My boyfriend had the BBQ wrap which he also enjoyed. While I wish Royal Docks was closer to Cleveland, making the trip was well worth it. I'm sure I'll be back soon for the beer as well as the food! read more

Another great surprise on the Summit County Brewery passport! We wish we could have stayed for more than one beer. The bartender was really nice and taught us some history of Royal Docks (the owners previously lived in London). This place gets a lot of natural light (and has a patio) so you don't feel cooped up like you do at some other bars. Loved the beer we ordered (London Lager was my favorite). Great beer selection. I am usually an ipa followed by stout in a flight. The IPAs ( dare and seconds son) were ok. But I was blown away by the Brut Squad IPA. The Vlad BBA was nice. The Baba Yaga was a 5 (coffee porter). Lovibond (blond stout) was nice very much like the "naughty Sauce" noble ales. Food - I had the pretzel and it was as good as any. Crab bites were just bar food, but the horseradish sauce killed it. I had the bbq festival. Impressive and fresh. Service - this was definitely a 5! I live in Columbus and I found out about this place at Beerfest so I wanted to check it out. The restaurant is cool and it has a really nice patio. Beers were good, but I was not at all impressed with the food for the price. I had the quesadilla and my brother had the wings.
