Let me just start out with I never leave a google review because I realize things happen no one is perfect. But I had to after my experience. Just had a mani / Pedi at Royal Nail on Ridge road . I have gone there for years . I know they recently have new owners. I was there when they opened at 10 am was supposed to be with Sophia when I mentioned this they just said she is not here . I specifically booked the appointment with her . It was all men when I arrived . And I do not have a problem with that . It is normally supposed to be a very relaxing appointment to get a mani pedi . It usually is for me . It was not at all ! The man that I had was rough it was not at all relaxing . He cut me twice while cutting my cuticles had to stop it was bleeding and put something on it to stop it . At any salon I have been to they usually soak and then put something on the cuticles to soften them he did not . He just push up hard on them . While having my pedicure he cut my cuticle this was the first time and of coarse it bled . He then used that abrasive sponge that they use to get the dry skin off the bottom of your feet ( which is always used and I do not have a problem with that ) but he then used it on the side of my foot and caused a abrasion ( scratch) on my foot you could see it one the side of my foot it was very sore I then asked him if he could spray alcohol on it ( I did not want to get a infection) . He said sorry . I realize things happen no one is perfect but to cut me twice and then cause an abrasion on the side of my foot . I left my appointment there with two cut cuticles and my food sore .This I have never experienced after an appointment. And I know sometimes at these appointments they may get a cuticle maybe once it happens. But not three different things at one appointment. When I went to wash my hands before my nails were polished he blew his nose and he noticed I looked over ( he had a cold or allergies) when he noticed I look over he sprayed alcohol on his hands I was surprised he never got up and washed his hands . It is the most hygienic thing to do . I could not believe it . Just not a good experience. But I will say at least one positive thing they have made an effort improve the inside of the salon. Problems with timing and quality . Had made a mani pedi appointment for 1:30. Pedi was done right away and then I sat and sat and sat... One of the techs who had finished a mani then just started walking around and talking, another finished and came towards me and I thought, "finally"! But nope, started a pedi on a woman who had just recently walked in. At that point I spoke up and said I was still waiting for a mani and it was now after 3, had been there over 1 1/2 hours and and was only halfway done. The man I believe to be the owner then gave me the worst mani of my life - he cut my nails very short, left them with raggedy edges and cuticles and the nails aren't fully polished, with practically bare spots in places. And all this took over 2 hours and $75. Never again and I recommend avoiding them. read more

My whole family and I have been coming to Royal nails for years and I love them! They are so accommodating and do amazing work. Tim and Holly are amazing and will always take their time to make sure they do your nails perfect! I have had last minute event where I need my nails done and they will always do their best to fit you in! It's a family owned business and that is exactly the kind of service you get. If I could give it zero stars I would. They were completely rude. They don't have nail and toe polish colors that match and they tell me that it's because they don't know what's going on from the old owner. They charged me to use my credit card. I had to put a tip on Venmo. On top of it I brought my own polish thank goodness because nothing they had matched anything close to the nail polish that I chose to get. It is 9 days since I got my shellac manicure...the polish has completely peeled off... and it stared 3 days after I went! I wanted to try somewhere else because I normally go to TULiP who do an amazing job at my nails last 3 to 4 weeks but they're always busy and nice to have a back up place! Back to Tulip I go! Caution! Had an appointment I scheduled in advance with the same guy I always see Tim for today at 12:30. Got there signed in picked my color and say down. 35 minutes later the cashier lady comes over said when is your appointment. I said you scheduled it for 12:30 when I called and it is for Tim as usual. She says ok walks away. Comes back says he is running behind I say ok i can wait a bit. 35 minutes later she puts in me in the chair. 40 minutes later the water is stone cold and he nor she has said a word! Over 90 minutes nothing! I dry my cold feet iff and walk out and they say nothing! Find another place! read more

I will start by saying that I go to different salons every two weeks for shellac. Just depends where work takes me. I stopped at this salon today. Check in was nice. Once I sat down they changed the station I was at 3x. No biggie. When the lady sat down to work on my nails she only asked me what colors and I was told when to wash my hands. Otherwise she spoke in Vietnamese to her coworker. It was uncomfortable. Manicure...meh. It looks ok but not worth the 30.00 I paid. read more

I got a full set of acrylic nails done here and It's been less than a week and they broke while I was washing my hair. When they did my nails there were quite a number of bubbles that formed and the fact that they didn't even last me a week discourages me to go back. read more

Horrible service. I came here for manicure and pedicure but ended up not even feeling like sitting through my pedicure. The guy who was doing my pedicure rushed through it and finished it in no more than 7 mins and when I told him I did not like the service he just got up and walked away rudely and started talking in his native language to His co worker. Later a small girl came and finished up my pedicure which was done horribly. People here did not even know what I was saying as none of them understood a word of English. I get mani pedis almost every month and this was the worst place I've been to. come here if you want to waste your time and money and be treated badly. read more

The place is terrible. After a manicure here my nails were uneven, oddly shaped, and the color was nothing like how it looked on the display. Also was unsanitary with food and drinks at every station. There was a guy literally sitting there scratching his nostrils next to the lady doing my nails. Totally grossed me out. I am taking the time to write a review because I went to Royal Nails based on the yelp reviews and I am very unhappy. I have just moved to Michigan and was trying to find a place that does hand designs. First I will say I Made an appointment and when I got there was told someone didn't show so they would get to me in a few minutes. Which maybe 15 minutes I was asked to move to a station and a gentleman started to do my grinding, because I have acrylic nails with top coat of gel. We'll he nicked three of my fingers so when Kim arrived I was happy to be moved to her station to finish. I tried to explain I wanted Valentines design with my gel top coat. Kim just kept saying I know what you want. Her designs were nice, but the quality of the product used was poor, and Kim would not listen to the fact I wanted the gel top coat. NO she insisted and continued to put on the shellac because she said it is easier. MAYBE but 2 hours later I went back and showed her the nails where messed up and obviously not what I wanted. We agreed she would fix them the next day which would be Sunday, but when I arrived she was not there yet. I waited maybe 20 minutes then I gave the lady at the desk my card with my phone number and told her to have Kim call me. A week later no call. I gave a 2 only because the design was nice but for a price of $80 for Mani & Pedi I expect it to look good two ours later. read more

I got my acrylics filled here and they did a lovely job! The man that did my nails was very nice and he did my nails quickly while still paying attention to detail and making my very grown out nails look great again! The color selection was also good. The only complaint I have is that it was a bit pricy, I payed $24 for a fill when it usually costs me $18 at the other two places I go. read more

Great place! Have been going here for years. Never really had a problem getting in. Obviously if you go at prime time like mid-day weekends, it's going to be busy and you should make an appointment if you don't want to wait in line. I don't go to anyone particular, but have never had a problem with poor quality. All of them take their time and do a good job. Pricing is pretty comparable to anywhere else in the area. Probably on the lower end if anything. Their shellac manicures last so long. I've had it last a full month before and still looks great. read more

Went in to get dip nails done and came back with a cut and bleeding finger, abnormally shaped nails, varying lengths, and nail adhesive stuck all under my nails and skin. The guy who was doing my nails consistently used his sharp thumbnail to push into my nail to fix it even after i told him it was stinging AND bleeding. When I pointed out my bleeding finger my concern was not addressed and he continued to poke at the cut with his nail even though it was bleeding. Unsanitary, and will not be going back. This horrible experience cost me $58. read more

The man that did my nails was too engrossed in the football game going on to notice he had cut my cuticles down to the point of bleeding on just about every single nail. It took two and a half hours for a pedicure and chellac manicure, a pedicure which is now mostly wrecked as he gooped on polish and a manicure that is completely misshaped, even though i specified the shape I wanted. I love this place! I got a full set of acrylics for $27 and that's a really good deal for acrylics and they lasted very long. When i was ready to get them off they charged me $10 which I feel is overpriced especially because I got them on at the same place. Very good service, usually not busy. I usually just walk in and the wait is only about 10-15 min but calling and making an appointment is a better choice if you have a limited amount of time! read more

Yikes I had been going here for the past two years on a regular basis and so I always had polish on. I'm usually reading while enjoying my pedi. Yikes I too obtained a nail fungus on both feet. It was so severe that my nail fell off. I too have been following with my dr who confirmed that this is a fungus most likely obtained during pedicure. Unfortunately this had been going on for awhile and they never brought this to my attention. Beware once you have a fungus it is difficult to get rid of. I have been dealing with mine for over two month with prescription meds. read more
