My favorite is the chicken shawarma with extra garlic sauce and they toast it with the fresh bread that they get from the bakery next door.

If I could give this place a negative star I would! Horrible customer service and horrible food!! We ordered 6 adjarski and when they brought it, 3 of them the eggs were not fully cooked(the right way) and 3 of them the eggs were fully cooked. We called back to let them know how bad it is and the guy is not even apologizing but stating that we had to tell them that we don't want the eggs fully cooked...doesn't make sense cause the other 3 weren't fully cooked. No sympathy, no apology, no customer service! I did not call to get free food but damn where the hell is customer service, they don't even care about customer satisfaction. I was really confused to what cusine this place should go under. They have Pizza, Armenian Pizza (known as khachapuri which is actually Georgian), Chicken & Beef Shwarma, Rotisserie Chicken, Gyros, Subs, Sandwiches, and a Greek Chix salad. Which is all excellent. The pizza is so good. They have a vast variety of toppings. An Ex Large pizza is only $8.99. One topping I highly recomend is the Chicken. They use the Chicken Shwarma as the topping which is so flavorable and just clever. It gives the pizza such a unique flavor. They also have an amazing garlic sauce, that youll have to request to put on the pizza. The Chicken Shwarma portion is so fricken huge it takes two meals or two people to finish. They give you lavash, a huge honking bread roll, a bucket of rice, hummus, garlic sauce, and of course a heaping amount of Chicken Shwarma. It's only $5.99. Definatly competive with Zankou. I want to like this place, but: 1) Royal Pizza often smells of cigarette smoke, because the young man who works the counter is a smoker, and he often leaves his lit butts on the window ledge just outside of the door, so the smoke wafts inside really easily. 2) Every time I walk past the store or go inside, everybody looks depressed and miserable, like they're all on the brink of suicide. It's rare to see a smile at Royal Pizza, even if you're a regular. It's like depression stowed away in their luggage when they emigrated to Van Nuys. I've tried greeting them numerous times with a friendly smile, but that doesn't seem to matter. 3) I have the same complaint for all of the shops in this mall -- people congregating in front of the doors and on the sidewalk to socialize, which blocks you from going inside or walking past. And they're usually smoking. And parked illegally. Apart from that, the food is tasty. They have a decent garlic/yogurt sauce, and the chicken shwarma sandwich is awesome. But the coarse demeanor is the most distasteful thing in the restaurant. read more

For food, it's great. But if you come at night, it can get a little weird. A very pretty lady in some cultured pearls presides at the counter, with great imperiousness. Such hauteur is somewhat inappropriate given Royal Pizza's humble location (in a nondescript mini mall near the Oxnard station of the Orange Line), and its patrons (a humdrum mix of Valley Glen locals, Eastern Europeans, and Armenians). Last night, we ordered takeout for 4: 2 pizzas, 2 salads, and some chicken shwarma. The bill came to about $38. When I asked for an itemized bill, Catherine the Great behind the counter gave me a look that could strike fear in Stalin's heart. Then, with great deliberation, she hoisted a sizable cardboard box right up on the serving counter and began searching for my receipt. She riffled through a great mound of crumpled receipts with a glowering attitude that can only be described as hateful, ironic, and insolent. After 5 minutes, I'd seen enough of this performance art snit, and just paid the frikking bill. As one might expect, I did not tip for service and attitude like this, especially since I schlepped out to pick up the takeout, rather than wait "over an hour" for delivery. The food was very good, and quite a good value. And her pearls, in retrospect, were very nice, too. read more

The food is good but they have really dirty kitchen and employee using the gloves to make the food and same time they do everything with the same gloves touching a money door handles chairs tables and back make a food without replacing gloves. You got my hopes up so I tried it, only to get a run-of-the-mill doughy, bready, average LA pizza similar in style to crappy chains like Domino's or Papa John's. It's not horrible food, it's just not good pizza. Yes it's cheap, filling and the toppings are fresh, but if you actually like quality pizza look elsewhere. We did also try their ajarski khachapuri (a football-shaped Georgian specialty made from pizza dough, salty cheese and two fried eggs) and it was delicious. Was getting gas across the street and noticed some signs/pictures of kebabs, sandwiches etc. I drove in and found the lot to be large/spacious for the area. A little hole in the wall located on a small lot next to the Orange Line. Initially,went here on a whim in the hopes of finding a hidden gem and lo and behold it was s great find. Food is both affordable and consistently good. I recommend trying out their Mediterranean fare (really tasty), as well as their pizza (the cheese they use is really addictive). Poor Customer Service. Yes, the pizza is good but not good enough to deal with the rude demeanor of everyone. I'm not expecting much from a pizza joint in terms of 5-star service, but from the moment I called I was barely greeted with a hello. Didn't ask my name or anything to place the order. But whatever they're only like five minutes away from my house so I tolerated it. But hell they didn't take down asking info so it's not like I could have called back and cancelled anyways. When I arrived to pick up my pizza... again no greeting not even a hello. Everyone just stared and then I go up to the register and finally someone comes over - again no greeting - I tell the woman I'm here to pick up a medium combo and she turns picks up the pizza, places it on the counter and rings me up. Alright, Yelpers. You did it. You got me to give in and order from Royal Pizza tonight. Here's what happened... The better half and I figured out what we wanted, and I made the call. What I received on the other end of the line was... disappointing to say the least, and did not make for a good first impression. The guy who took my order sounded like he was about 2 seconds from jumping off a cliff; miserable as ever, completely unhelpful, and as if he wanted nothing more than for our conversation to end before it had even begun. I don't expect you to be excited about aiding me in placing my order, but when I ask, "Can you please tell me what's on the Royal Supreme pizza?", it might be beneficial for both of us if you answer with more than, "Almost everything" in a tone that suggests, "Just try and make me give a f***." After getting through the grueling and somewhat rude order, I thought, "This pizza better be amazing." About a half hour had passed when I received a call on my cell phone from the delivery guy. After helping him with the directions, he arrived promptly and was surprisingly very nice. We received our pizza and BBQ wings, and were delightfully surprised. The pizza was legit. It was well-cooked, flavorful, and practically overflowing with toppings. The crust was yummy, which is hard to find, especially in the Valley. But what took the cake were the BBQ wings. HOLY HELL. I don't think I've ever been able to describe wings from any pizza place as "amazing", or even "good". But these... these were phenomenal. They might be my favorite wings ever. They are so perfectly cooked, and taste like they're marinated in honey. Combined with ranch for dipping (and, actually decent ranch!) and it's like heaven created these wings to fly down upon my plate for me to commence stuffing my face. So, to conclude, if you find yourself to be the type of person who doesn't feel good food is worth dealing with placing your order with an impatient zombie on the other end of the line, this might not be the place for you. BUT. If you decide to brave that zombie, you will (most likely) not be disappointed with the food. PLEASE ORDER THE WINGS. They are epic. In my case, I love Grubhub, and while Royal Pizza is on Grubhub, their menu is not available on Grubhub (which doesn't make any sense to me). But if they WERE on Grubhub, and I didn't have to deal with Zombie Dude, this place would be near perfect. Nothing worthwhile is free, I guess. read more

Such an unpleasant food order i have never encountered. Ordered a pizza thru the phone. A very rude guy answered and talked to me like im asking him for a huge favor. After deciding to go thru with the order anyways i waited for 50 min untill i finaly decided to call and check whats going on. Again, the rude guy answered arguing with me that i didnt order the pizza almost an hour ago, not offering compensation or anything and on top of it all after i asked so how long will it take for the pizza to arrive he told me another 15-20 min. Do not be deterred by Royal Pizza's location, a sad mini-mall at the southeast corner of Woodman and Oxnard near the Orange Line busway. Nor the dismal, distressed tables and chairs in the 'dining room.' Order and take out! The food is delicious and lovingly prepared. We ordered a large pizza with spinach, feta, mushrooms and fresh tomato and it was astounding! So fresh and flavorful with a delicious not-too-thick, not-too-thin crust. I also ordered a large green salad which was truly large with freshly cut greens, tomatoes, green pepper and red onion. Don't know what vinaigrette dressing they used but it's the bomb. Will make this a regular stop, just for the salad. And prices so much more reasonable than elsewhere. read more
