The staff at hill country pet ranch were very kind and accommodating. They assured me that my dog would get plenty of love and he seemed happy and cared for when I picked him up. However, I have to deduct a star because despite having an overall good experience, my dog did come home with a number of fleas. We have him on prevention, so the fleas were dying after biting him, but he was so itchy in the meantime. This was after I had also purchased an exit bath and nail trim. I think this is a fine place to board your dog, but ensure that you have plans to go home and give your dog a flea bath immediately. Plus, throw away any fabric items that may be housing fleas when you get home.

Sometimes waiting is part of the experience, there is plenty of space in the lobby to do so. I wish people would not tear down institutions this way especially in the name of entitlement. It is unfair. Herbst is outstanding. Their standard of care is unmatched to any Vet I've ever experienced. Our family sees Dr. Samaripa -- she treats all our animals, but especially our Pit-Lab Mousse who has chronic digestive issues. She does so with ease, especially since she understands I am a nervous pet owner. She gives us reasonable options, clear instructions and is always patient and kind. We never feel taken advantage of or upsold on medication, procedures or other unnecessary measures. Their prices are more than fair. Their front desk staff are so friendly and compassionate, even when my dog was experiencing behavioral nervousness in the lobby. They take action and provide comfort instantly. I've personally seen the front desk staff be treated poorly by pet owners -- these hardworking individuals do not deserve to be treated with such disrespect. Us civilians need to do better because the team at Herbst is here to HELP us and our pets. Boarding, sedated nail trims, post surgery care, chronic illness, vaccinations, all treated with SUCH care and priced more than fairly. Herbst, thank you for everything. Instead of helping, they put me on hold and were rude and dismissive, telling me they couldn't do anything. I completely understand if a clinic isn't equipped for emergencies -- but at least have the compassion to guide someone to where they can go, rather than acting like they don't care. This wasn't the first time, either. Our older dog also has seizures, and when we brought her in, the vet didn't even believe us. It took multiple visits and finally showing a video for them to acknowledge what was happening. It's clear they don't truly listen or care about what their patients' families tell them. I appreciate the proactive warning about price but would have never scheduled the appointment knowing that it would possibly cost that much.
