I had been hoping to cross paths with this truck for months and finally lucked out at the final Food Truck Fridays of the season in Annapolis (follow them on Facebook for updates!). I was hoping to try the Chicago Beef sub after watching The Bear, but they were sold out. They were offering Crab Dip Pasta as one of their Featured Items and it sounded like a great alternative to me. The service was swift and friendly and the price was certainly fair. We secured our orders and returned home to give everything a try. I was really impressed with this dish! I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but it hit the spot! You get a healthy serving of penne cooked al dente (not mushy at all), that's topped with delicious crab dip, cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of Old Bay. There's a lot of crab in it, and it was fresh and sweet. They don't drown it in the cheese or Old Bay, you truly get to taste every component. I would absolutely recommend this dish, and I'd get it again in a heartbeat. I absolutely NEED to try their crab dip pizza after having this. My thanks to them for a fantastic meal! read more

This truck frequents the Food Truck Friday spot in Annapolis. I've ordered their Italian Cold Cut Sub (mortadella, capicola, salami, provolone, mixed greens, onions, tomato, balsamic vinaigrette) and a side of their meatballs. The Italian sub was excellent. It was stuffed to the brim with meat and fixings. The bread was soft and the balsamic vinaigrette brought it all together. I wanted to try their meatballs, so I ordered a side - 2 meatballs with plenty of sauce. I'm not a big fan of red sauce, but this sauce was really good and had a nice flavor. I've been meaning to try this truck for a while, and I'm glad I did. They told me the meatball sub ($11.50) was all beef, so that sealed the deal with a cannoli ($5) for dessert. I know some people prefer a beef and pork mixture in their Italian meatballs but I was very happy with this one. And it was BIG! Most don't have enough marinara on them for my liking because of the risk of them getting soggy in transit and this one was no different. A side of marinara solved that. The cannoli itself was about average sized. The flavor of the shell was standard but the tasty chocolate chip filling really set it apart. I would come back for both. read more

During this time of coronavirus, we've had several food trucks discover they can set up in the elementary school parking lot and not violate any local ordinances. So glad PLVB! folks decided to put in an appearance yesterday (5/4/20, May the Fourth be with you!) My choice was pulled pork risotto, and a caprese. Everyone in the family enjoyed their choices, but I actually didn't taste any of the other dishes because mine was SO good! The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with just the right savory spices and thankfully not too salty. The risotto was cooked to perfection, not mushy at all, and flavored with the pork juices, was truly delectable. The caprese featured crisp greens, perfect - and I do mean perfect - tomatoes, and of course thick, tasty mozzarella slices. I opted for balsamic vinaigrette, rather than the EVOO. I have to say, the two dishes were a perfect complement to each other. I actually filled up enough that I saved a small dab of the pork risotto to have for lunch today. I've seen this food truck at numerous spots (National Business Parkway, Crofton Farmer's Market, and Jailbreak Brewing), but never tried them out. Finally got the chance last week at Jailbreak and it was pretty good! The staff was very friendly and fast! I had the mushroom ravioli and antipasto salad. My husband had the Rosaritto, an Italian take on a burrito. Everything was very delicious and reasonably priced. The antipasto salad was huge for $7. Had some of these guys' food at Jailbreak last night. Some dishes were good, others not so much. Prices are fair and service is FAST; they'll get you your food in less than 10 minutes, even with a line of people ordering. The food is a mixed bag. First off, the fries are nicely done and topped with some garlic and Parmesan cheese, they're a solid side dish. The tortellini a la crema was a rich, tasty dish. Not too overpowering. The other pasta dishes are fine. My friends really dug into their Bolognese and Chicken Parm with pasta. I was excited to see a sub with broccoli rabbe in it, so I got the porchette sub that came with it. Sadly, the broccoli rabbe was overcooked, oily, and the pork was pretty bad. It smelled like cat food, tasted okay, but had a few spots of stringy connective tissue that nobody wants. Sadly, that's the lasting impression on me. Maybe next time I'll stick to pasta or try the meatball sub. read more

This was a food truck I happen to meet at the Lantern Festival. I had to eat a carb dinner and they didn't' disappoint. They were sweet and accommodated a request to put the Gorgonzola cream sauce on the side (I was afraid the sauce would be too pungent). OMGoodness there is so much food and flavor. A definite winner! I ordered the tortellini, added shrimp and asked for a bit more sauce. I have to say I was a bit cautious because I was worried that food truck pasta would be soggy, overdone and bland. I couldn't have been more wrong. Everything was right on the money! Delicious! Bottom line: Don't waste your money. This food truck regularly comes around the office park and i have had a chance to try three different items on the menu. All over the course of two years or so, whenever I don't have leftovers from the night before. Item 1: The lobster and crab ravioli. Who doesnt love a good ravioli? Problem being this is not a good ravioli. It has been on their "specials" board for years. It looks and tastes like it is bought off of some assembly line somewhere far far away. It is very thin, the filling (what little bit there may be) is not in any way special. Nor is the cream sauce they cover the disappointing ravioli with. I actually had this item twice because when i got it the second time I didnt realize it was the same item and same truck I tried months before. Forgettable is an understatement. Item 2: The meatball sub. I love meatball subs, definitely my favorite hot sandwich. Meatballs were hard, dry, and lacked anything resembling flavor. The tomato sauce was a bland disappointment that was incapable of a rescue attempt on the meatballs. It was so disappointing i had to get a good meatball sub from somewhere else the next day to wipe that memory from my mind. Item 3: The final straw that made me want to write this review, italian pulled pork risotto (heavy sigh). If you have ever seen something on a menu that sounds like an outright abomination, this monstrosity would surely be it. I asked the gentleman at the register what makes the pulled pork "italian". He cheerfully replied, "it is the seasonings and how it is cooked." As I am generally an adventurous eater I went against every alarm bell going off in my brain and ordered the dish. The walk back to my desk was filled with an anxiousness. Not the sort one gets when looking forward to what should be a delicious food truck lunch. Rather, the sort of anxiousness of wondering what exactly you have gotten yourself into. As soon as i removed the lid and saw the pools of fat sitting on top of the risotto i realized the error of my decision. I was staring at a veritable mountain of pulled pork on top of a bed of risotto, which, for the record, could not have possible been cooked in the three minutes it took between placing my order and receiving my food. Not one to waste food or money I started eating. It was then I was greeted by the aforementioned "seasonings". Well, seasoning to be more precise. Namely, salt. Lots and lots of salt. I concede there could have been other spices used to make the pulled pork. Try as i might I was unable to determine what they were because all I was able to taste was salt. I have made pulled pork many times in my life and not once have I ever struggled to taste the pork itself over the salt. The risotto that lay trapped beneath the pulled pork was sticky, unevenly cooked, and in no way creamy as a risotto is meant to be. Individually the two items would have been disappointing at best. Somehow the two items together became so much worse than the sum of the parts. I struggle to understand what would make anyone think topping risotto with pulled prok would ever be a good idea. read more

The Pasta la Vista food truck has several Italian offerings, from penne to Caprese, and most items are pretty reasonably priced. I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli with cream sauce and bleu cheese from their Specials chalkboard. The bleu cheese was kind of glopped on, and the ravioli were not evenly crusted with parmesan, but they all tasted great in that sauce. Everything may not have been even, but there was enough going on to make for an interesting lunch with every bite. A piece of Italian bread was included and that took care of the rest of that sauce.
