I can't believe what I just experienced here. After spending tons of time researching and almost a year of waiting for the right time I was finally ready to put some 265/70/17 all terrain tires on my BMW X5. The staff at RT Tire refused to put the tires on my car, saying they wouldn't fit. I've done my research and all measurements to ensure the size will fit and no matter what proof I would provide the staff simply kept telling me they would not fit and they will not do it. I came here as a customer to buy a service but instead I was given wrong advice and opinions that I did not ask for. This place sucks, maybe they just no longer wanted to honor the deal they made me or maybe they just don't want to do the work. Who knows? All I know is that this place is trash and I won't be back. I bet if I showed up in a 4Runner, Jeep or Truck they wouldn't have had a second thought. It's simply because it's out of the ordinary that they decided to discriminate against me. read more

Second time buying a set of tires for my Jeep. I was originally planning on putting new tires on this time around but after spending more than I originally had budgeted for steering work, I decided I needed to find some used tires. Called a couple of times to check on availability for my size tire and tires that still have enough tread to get me through the next couple of years. Matt immediately greeted me, inspected my tire will a nail and asked why I needed a used tire when he could 'plug' it! Genius! Within 15 minutes there magic tool guy, Cody had plugged the hole from the nail and I was back on the road. I paid $25! ... FIRESTONE on Contra Costa however, was the worst. On March 30th, I made an appointment and I drove my car to Firestone where I bought the tires a couple years back so still under warranty and road hazard protection that I had paid for. The repair from the nail was supposed to be free. Instead, Service Advisor '7 Keilen' insisted the tire couldn't be repaired and instead recommended 'replacement' of both rear tires with a price tag of $555.05! The only reason it's not a five star is the waiting area. Basically you are sitting outside on a fold up chair. Other than that your experience will be satisfying. They have two locations and can source the tire at the other location if your size is not available. Relatively fast service, especially compared to the established tire centers in the area, not as formal! The service writers are actually pretty good guys and don't judge. I saw the reviews on Yelp and drove by this spot a million times. My tires were on the last string and I needed some replacements. I've bought a used tire from RT tire a few months back and that tire was ready to be replaced again today. I came in and right after me about 3-4 other customers showed up. The guy asked me what I needed and and so on. Told me the price then took my keys didn't say anything else. After 15-20minutes once I see others who came in after me were getting their cars pull to the back. I went and asked the guy behind the counter did you want me to pay now then he said no. I waited another 15-20min then I see some techs were not buys so I thought maybe they forgot about me and I wasn't mad, so I went and asked if they know how much longer this is going to take. Mind you that my car hasn't even been looked at or anyone knew what was going on. Tech went and ask the gentleman who took my car and keys to see how much longer. He then came back and said 45min. So you're telling me after me waiting for about an hour, now you're telling me another 45min! Had you told me that from the get go I wouldn't wait around. But that wasn't the case since few other customers who came in after me were helped and about to be done. Then I said to him im just gonna go can't wait that long, he didn't apologize or at least admin to his mistake, then simply said yea we're buys today. The guys at RT tire are amazing. I got a whole set of tires a year ago. The tread hasn't diminished much in that time. Unfortunately I did recently notice a weird gash out of the side wall of one tire. Not losing air or anything but in perfect circumstance something can hit that soft spot and my tire will blow. I'm leaving for a roadtrip and these guys got me in right away and got me a new tire with matching tread depth. Took great care of me! Will continue to go back. Put on the spare then went straight to this place since it was right down the street from my house and, I try and support local businesses as much as I can especially, during these crazy Co-vid times. Anyway, before I stopped here, I stopped by Bill's Tires since it was closer. When I arrived, I spoke with Bill and he said he'll be right with me. Well after he helped the others before me, he started chatting it up with another guy. It looked like he was trying to continue on where they left off. Well the guy told Bill, they could finish their convo another time because he didnt want to take him away from his customers. Bill turned and looked right at me then looked back at the guy and said, dont worry we're good! I just laughed and decided to take my money elsewhere. I was a 5 star customer and gave them a 5 star review long ago which you can probably see linked to this one - I've purchased from them since they first opened and always had a good experience. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair (although tire prices in general have gone way up) I have a crew of guys who all run company vehicles so used tires are my best bet. We've used them on at least 10 different occasions. I called about some tires for a truck. My fault I gave them a size too big that didnt fit. I purchased 2 from them one day and went back the very next day for install when I had all 4 (2 of my own) My fault they didn't fit Unfortunately they didn't have anything else In stock that would fit the truck. I asked if I could return the tires and they said they could only exchange them. I paid for them that day because I didn't want them to sell I offered them two additional tires (set of 4 now) that were the same brand and model plus the wheels they were on if I could get even a partial refund to my card. They again said they could only exchange them. In the past when I went to the store, if the tires didn't fit, they would give us options I feel that I was loyal to them since the day they opened and have purchased a lot of tires from this company However, I went to Tires direct and Lafayette and got four brand new tires for about the same price. It would've cost to have four used tires installed. The tires I offered to give them which I had myself were in better shape than the tires they sold me I would've been happy even getting $50 out of the 120 but I paid for a couple of ti that had about 10% left in them until we were at the treadwear Marks As a small business owner myself, I know how hard it is to achieve a five star rating, which is why I gave them reviews on both Google however, after this past experience, I don't feel that my loyalty and my money was appreciated So for a couple hundred dollars more I got four brand new tires available in any size I wanted with a warranty and an alignment at Tires, Direct and Lafayette I'm not saying RT Tires is not an excellent choice, but a solid team of guys, but I would be very careful and understand that refunds are not an option read more

I pulled up an hour and a half before closing to get two front tires replaced because they were balding badly. The guy came off nice but was condescending and unreliable with their services. I was told that "the guys in the back" didn't want to put on any more tires for the day (do their job) and instead offered me a pointless sale of tires with no way to put them on. He then proceeded to tell me that "those tires were bald a month ago" implying "oh well that's your problem". I live in my car at the moment and been struggling with hours so yeah it is my problem. I've known about RT for well over five years as I saw their commercials on KRON4. I was waiting for the right time to give them a try. I visited their shop a while back but wasn't quite ready for tires yet. Come October I was getting very close to needing a new set. Since October '22 I called them at least once a week to check on their always changing stock. One of the gentlemen there complimented me on my persistence and commented that I did the right thing in that I prepared to have some time to search instead of what he said about many customers who say "I NEED NEW TIRES TODAY!" I'm glad I held out because on Tuesday, November 22nd they finally had a great set of four Continental tires at 95% tread for my Kia Soul EV. $360 out the door?! GET OUTTA TOWN! :-) I went out there first thing in the morning on Wednesday, 11/23 and they had me out the door in less than an hour. Any and every time I called them they were extremely friendly and professional and answered all my questions. At just the mention of my tire size, they remembered me. I had a very positive experience with the manager at the R/T Tire when I went in last week. It's always refreshing when a service professional takes the time to listen to your concerns and provides an honest assessment of your situation rather than trying to upsell you unnecessarily, so I wanted to take the time to write a review. In this case, I saw that my front driver's side tire needed replacement due to cracking on the sidewall, so I brought it right in. The manager conducted a visual inspection of my tire within a minute of my arrival and agreed with my assessment that it should be replaced. However, since they didn't have my odd-sized tire in stock, they offered me the option to wait a couple of days for them to order and have the tire(s) ready for me. The manager also was very direct in that if I wanted to be extra safe and get it somewhere else that had it in stock now, he would completely understand. Again, that to me speaks to the integrity of R/T Tire, and I think that shows up in the other reviews on Yelp; they are legit. The fact that the manager gave me a ballpark quote for the replacement tire(s) shows that they were transparent about the potential costs involved, and it allowed me to make an informed decision about when and how to proceed. I also appreciate the speed in which they work, and in general, they seem friendly not only with customers but with each other on their team. Overall, I wanted to give a shout-out about a good local shop, a friendly and helpful manager who prioritized my safety, and that this is a place that doesn't push for getting business, or for unnecessary upsells. I'm a bit disappointed to have to give RT a 4 star review as historically I have had good experiences with them. Their prices and selection tend to be very good, and I have had good service in the past. On my most recent visit a couple weeks ago (11/9), I purchased and had installed a set of 4 higher end tires (275/35/21). The price was very reasonable ($850 out the door), and they could install them right away. I walked down the street for some coffee, and the vehicle was ready when I came back. If my experience ended there, it would have been 5 stars. Unfortunately, that Sunday (11/12) I noticed the car was missing its lug caps on one of my wheels. I know they were present prior to the install as I had coincidentally taken a picture the day before they put the new tires on and the car was in the background where you can clearly see them (and who the heck would steal lug caps, especially off only one wheel). RT was closed as it was Sunday so I went the following Monday (11/13). When I went in, I asked the person at the front desk if they had any missing lug caps. He said their side had nothing to do with the installs as they just sold the tires so he sent me to the back. A young man came out and tried to help me, claiming they had just cleaned the shop and they hadn't seen any caps. He searched the back and checked a couple spots up front. He also had me check my spare tire and glove box, but no luck. He then took down my number telling me his manager would call me, but it's now been a week and a half with no callback. If they had found my lug caps, offered to replace them (we're talking less than $20 in parts), or even offered me like $15-20 in future credit, I wouldn't be docking them a star. Unfortunately they didn't even bother to call back so here we are. So bottom line is I still recommend RT, but make sure to double check their work and ensure you have all your lug caps! read more
