    Chicken Fried Rice
    McKencie T.

The food was average, we got chicken fried rice, avocado roll, and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna was just tuna it wasn't even spicy and didn't include the other toppings 5/10 . The avocado roll was good 8/10. Fried rice 10/10. Service was good nothing stood out. Ambiance was good it was a full house. Don't think I will be back though. House sake was 10/10.

It's a cool place to grab a bite to eat when you don't feel like cooking. It's clean and quick however they charge gratuity on Togo orders. I don't like that but I deal with it when I'm hungry. Just a way to up charge customers.

I'm not sure if they read my last review but today my customer service was completely different. I was told I can sit at the bar but also was informed to come back up when ready to order. It's amazing how communication can change a patron's experience. The young lady at the register was so sweet and helpful. With service like that I don't mind the automatic gratuity. The food was still super good. Again, I can't say enough about the veggies in the fried rice, not just the regular peas and carrots.

I grabbed Ru Sans to go, after my tennis match the other day, as I was in the area. I used to come to Ru Sans all the time when I was in college. Most of those times I ate at the restaurant too, and a few times I had done take out. I decided to check it out again after quite some time. I got the miso soup, spicy chicken roll MAKI, garlic chili salmon MAKI, chicken yakitori, sesame chicken tempura, and a salad with a ginger dressing. The miso soup and salad was nothing special. Just your run of the mill miso soup and salad with ginger dressing that you would get anywhere else. The sesame chicken tempura was okay, but it was covered with way too many sesame seeds, I didn't know it was going to be covered all the way like that. The chicken yakitori was good, way better than the sesame chicken tempura. The spicy chicken roll has been my go to order for YEARS. It's MAKI, which means it comes in 3 pieces, so I got 3 orders. For some reason though, it didn't taste as good as it used too. Seems like the quality has just gone really downhill. The garlic chili salmon was whatever too. Nothing special there. The quality of the fish has really taken a downward spike over the last few years, it's definitely not what it used to be. The menu is still as big as it used to be, but the prices have definitely gone up. I probably wouldn't come back here again unfortunately. I know they do have a Buckhead location still, so that one might be better? I also haven't been to that one in years either, so I am unsure. The Monroe Piedmont one they used to have, closed down permanently. There are plenty of other places in the city that have good sushi, so definitely do some research first before coming here.

I've been eating here since I was a kid. Ru sans was my intro to Sushi. Whenever my boyfriend craves sushi, we come here. Today was no different. I came by for some takeout to bring home for us to eat and watch the House of Dragons season 2 premiere together. This was my first time noticing the remodel they did. The manager alerted me that they did the remodel two years ago. I guess I never noticed because I usually get my food Togo. This time, I sat and waited at the bar. It took roughly 15 minutes. I got 2 California rolls, 2 teriyaki tuna rolls, 2 orders of bacon wrapped scallops, 2 orders of shrimp tempura. Their food is pretty much a la Carte so it can get expensive if you're not careful. My total came out to $44.xx. Still place is pretty much a staple in my house so I'll definitely be back.

I've been coming here for sushi since 2009. I stick to my usual favorites whenever I come. I miss eating at the bar only because of the cucumber salad that I got when sitting at the bar. They have updated the inside post Covid and also have increased the prices. They also automatically add 18% gratuity to your total. I highly recommend visiting her. The sushi always tastes fresh and that's why I've been a supporter for so many years. I rarely go anywhere else for sushi. They also have the best shrimp fried rice I've ever had!

Edamame, Crab Rangoon, and Hamachi Kama

This is a pretty decent place for sushi. Customer service was great, and our food didn't take too long to arrive. We ordered Edamame, Crab Rangoon, Hamachi Kama, Garlic Chili Yellowtail Maki, Spicy Tuna Tempura Maki, and the Salmon Quartet. The Crab Rangoon was very tasty, despite containing so much cream cheese. My other favorites during dinner were the Hamachi Kama and the Garlic Chili Yellowtail Maki. They both were bursting with so many flavors and the fish tasted fresh! My least favorite was the Spicy Tuna Tempura Maki. The fried rice made it difficult to chew the sushi. The Salmon Quartet included Salmon, Seared Salmon, Lomi Lomi Salmon, and Spicy Aioli Tuna Vinaigrette. The Salmon and Seared Salmon were decent, but the fish tasted spoiled in the Lomi Lomi Salmon and Spicy Aioli Tuna Vinaigrette.

    Grilled scallop and shrimp dinner

The food was really good and plentiful! Enough to share for 2 people for around $23.00! I had the grilled shrimp and scallops and grilled veggies with cucumbers and other veggies. It also came with white rice and soup. Service was fast and friendly and a nice ambiance for a moderate date or family friendly. Located on a 2nd floor where you have to take stairs so wear comfortable shoes.

For what it is, cheap sushi it is four stars. Then as I wrote the review I had less positive to say so I had to give it three stars. My friends would give it four and are the only reason I still come here. If I was comparing it to the regular sushi restaurants I visit, then it is no question three or two stars because of the lower quality of fish. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes the servers are attentive and sometimes you feel forgotten. The atmosphere is friendly and energetic. As for the food I start with tempura anything is good, but the salmon is my favorite. I drink a bottle of the cold cloudy unfiltered Nigori sake. If getting rolls my go-to is the Gone with the wind. It has tuna, salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, carrots, and avocado. If hungry I also get the Shrimp tempura roll. My hubby gets the Kohaku tuna and yellow tail with Avocado and crab or the California sunset- salmon, tuna, and avocado.

The location is nice and has outside seating... the food on the other hand, not impressed. The Tiger Shrimp was cold and the chips that came with it taste like styrofoam. Crab Ragoon was not the best. It tasted like they put a little extra nasty in it. The sushi rolls were actually good. The Twice Cooked Salmon Maki and Alaskan Roll were the favs. The Salmon Shrimp Asparagus Katsu Roll however was dry. The Kiwi Lady Killer was definitely tasted like spoiled wine. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone The blackberry Sangria was alright, but I've had better. The service was less than subpar. Not attentive or knowledgeable at all... I guess it works out for her as they add an 18% tip automatically, otherwise, she would get less than 5%.

    Penelope T.

Honestly Good food ppl are nice but it's just a casual place and they force a 18 % tip on your food it's not like it's fine dining. The rolls all had only 6 pieces and i was told most have 8. I understand its not easy to work restaurant business I do it However tipping should be a customers choice on what we tip.

    Katsu California Roll

I ordered on Uber eats. I normally always get the Katsu California roll. This one time the avocado was extremely brown and when I called the restaurant to tell them that they gave me this brown avocado in my sushi they tried to blame it on the fact that the roll is fried. I've gotten this roll at least five times before and the sushi has never came with a brown avocado. I'm talking about brown all the way through. It was disgusting and I had to basically pull all the avocado out which ruined the roll. Don't order on Uber eats or they're going to give you anything then tell you to complain to Uber.

I wasn't expecting much from this place but it was the perfect gem. I wasn't expecting much able to make a last minute reservation online and we were seated immediately. The waiter was professional and so friendly--he literally knew every little thing about each dish. He provided some great recommendations and we decided to order the lobster crawfish wontons, the crispy beef, the drunken noodle with scallops and lobster tail, and the sticky ribs. I easily could have eaten all the wontons myself and the drunken noodles came large lobster tails and plenty of scallops. I ate these so fast that I forgot to take a picture. The crispy beef was a little bit on the sweeter side but it was the perfect amount of crunch and sauce that paired well with the vegetables and jasmine rice. I also really enjoyed the ribs--they were very tender and flavorful. It came with collard greens which I didn't enjoy as much but the other dishes were so good and I ate so much that I didn't mind. I also saw plenty of couples celebrating milestones together so it definitely makes for a cute night out if you're in the area looking to have a nice dinner with your partner. I hope to be back to Atlanta soon so that I can indulge again.

I ordered the Shandong braised chicken, a dish presented with its protein resting atop a glossy sauce and a generous scattering... ten or more pieces of accompanying dough. In theory, this bread should serve as both sponge and companion, absorbing the depth of the braise and rounding the dish into comfort. In practice, it was profoundly compromised. The dough was unmistakably moldy, visibly, undeniably so. This alone is alarming in any dining establishment; it signals a breakdown not just in execution, but in fundamental kitchen vigilance. More troubling than the oversight itself was the response. When the issue was brought to the attention of the waiter, the reaction suggested familiarity rather than concern as though such an occurrence fell within the realm of the expected. There was no urgency, no visible embarrassment, no effort to meaningfully rectify the moment. The tone felt faintly dismissive. The effect on the room was immediate: the couple seated ahead of us, having witnessed the exchange, opted against ordering an entrée at all. That, in itself, speaks volumes. There were, however, redeeming elements. The spicy beef was well-prepared, delivering heat with balance rather than bravado. The diced potatoes were excellent, crisp at the edges, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. These dishes hinted at a kitchen capable of competence, even finesse, when fundamentals align. The atmosphere added an unexpected layer. Spa music drifted through the dining room an odd choice for a meal that aims to be bold and hearty, creating a tonal dissonance that never quite resolved. Service hovered in the realm of "acceptable," buoyed largely by polite refrains of "yes sir" and "no ma'am," though these formalities felt more like compensation for a lack of true attentiveness than genuine hospitality. I would not go so far as to discourage anyone from dining here. There is promise, and there are flashes of real quality. But I would offer this advice plainly and without drama: inspect your food carefully. Mold has no place on the plate, and until that reality is treated with the seriousness it demands, the experience remains compromised no matter how good the potatoes may be.

What initially brought me in was Atlanta Burger Week, and I ordered their featured burger to take advantage of the special. While the burger was good, the real star of the meal was the smoked barbecue fried rice with brisket. It was absolutely fantastic. The brisket was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. The fried rice itself was packed with flavor and had such a unique, smoky taste that perfectly complemented the barbecue. It is not often that a side dish completely steals the show, but this one certainly did. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food arrived promptly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It is always exciting to discover a restaurant that delivers something a little different, and Sweet Auburn BBQ does exactly that by blending flavors and cuisines in a way that feels both creative and comforting. AMBIANCE The experience got off to a rough start with parking. They validate parking at a local parking structure or garage but the directions on the placard outside the establishment were unclear.... with an arrow to the back. The back of what? As newcomers to the restaurant and the area, the parking structure and restaurant that was point of refernece was not helpful. There wasn't even an address or street name to go by. We ended up circling behind nearby buildings and down another street before finally finding the parking structure. It felt unnecessarily confusing and set a slightly frustrating tone before we even walked in. Once inside, things improved. We were seated right away in a booth on the right side of the dining room. The space had a stylish, eclectic feel....interesting decor with a lively, buzzy energy. Not overly loud, but definitely active for a weekday night. SERVICE Service was efficient and welcoming through though. Our waitress quickly brought water and drinks and gave us time to look over the menu. The concept of Asian fusion twist meets Southern BBQ is intriguing, but as first-timers, it took some effort to picture how the flavors would come together. We found ourselves cross-referencing Yelp photos for awhile just to get a better sense of what to expect. FOOD We decided to get started with the brisket egg rolls, one of their most popular items. They arrived in about 10-15 minutes and were a solid opener...found them crispy, flavorful, and a creative twist on the usual pork ones. For mains, we ordered the BBQ plate with fries and collards, along with the smoked chicken curry. The BBQ plate was fine...nothing really amazing and pretty tiny portions for what you're paying for. The flavors were good, but not justified for the premium. The chicken curry was fine. For $17.50, I definitely expected more pulled pork that people were raving about....the dish was more than 1/2 rice and potatoes. The standout, by far, was the brisket egg roll...easily the highlight of the meal and better than we anticipated given the fusion concept. Overall, it felt like you're paying a bit more for the concept and presentation than the actual quantity. Wouldn't come back again.
