    Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice
    Nitya C.

Umi was everything I expected and more! I came here for my birthday dinner and had the most amazing meal and will never stop raving about the hospitality! The food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers we got the tuna tataki, salmon yuzuviche, spicy tuna crispy rice, and seaweed salad. The crispy rice is a MUST. Absolutely packed with flavor and amazing texture. For mains we got the Black Cod Misoyaki, Rock shrimp tempura, spicy tuna box roll and the hurricane roll. The black cod misoyaki simply blew us away, not an exaggeration. The spicy tuna box roll was not only yummy but also beautiful!! For drinks we got the Paloma and Kyodai-- both great and strong. And since it was my birthday they brought complimentary chocolate truffles with a candle! I can't wait to come back. Parking- Umi will validate the valet and it is only $2.

Umi is absolutely an Atlanta must-try. We went for Valentine's Day and honestly couldn't even tell it was a holiday because the service was that smooth. Service was a 10/10, ambiance was solid, and shoutout to our server Patrick who really made the night. The only real downside was finding the restaurant at night, which was unnecessarily frustrating. Also, the menu is very extensive. If you're Type A or new to sushi, I highly recommend reviewing the menu ahead of time so you're not overwhelmed once you sit down. Food-wise, there were clear standouts. The Wagyu beef carpaccio was unreal. Truly one of the best things I've had and a must-order starter. The miso soup was comforting and flavorful, perfect if you're cold. Drinks were well balanced and not overly sweet, especially the lychee martini and benihime. Sushi and rolls were a mixed bag depending on personal taste. The eel avocado shrimp tempura roll was a favorite, and the American tuna roll was solid. Some nigiri textures just aren't for me yet, but my husband loved them, especially the otoro and salmon options. The baked lobster tempura wasn't bad, just not particularly memorable. Dessert was decent. The angel food cake was enjoyable, but the donut wasn't my thing since it was filled. That one comes down to preference. Overall, the quality, service, and experience make Umi worth the hype, and I can't wait to go back. Just plan ahead, know what you want to order, and let the kitchen do its thing.

I finally was able to make it to Umi. I've heard soooo many amazing things but of course had to be the judge myself. As a sushi lover I had VERY high expectations and they exceeded in every aspect. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and inviting dim lighting, sleek design, and an energy that feels special without being pretentious. The service is consistently top tier. Knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu, the staff makes thoughtful recommendations and times each course perfectly. You never feel rushed, yet everything flows seamlessly. We started with the jalapeño yellowtail, which was bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. Our server recommended the Sake Aioli nigiri, which was an absolute standout. Rich yet clean and beautifully layered. The classic salmon nigiri was melt in your mouth, and the spicy tuna crispy rice delivered the perfect balance of crunch and flavor. We also tried a specialty roll recommended by the server, which did not disappoint and rounded out the sushi selections perfectly. From the hot dishes, the Lobster Toban-Yaki completely stole the show. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were just as impressive luxurious, rich, and perfectly executed. And you can't forget the greens. We had the Brussels sprouts which were the perfect mix of tangy and crunchy, cooked just right with a light char that didn't overpower the dish. 10/10 overall I can not wait to come back!

Umi is located in Buckhead Village, and comes highly recommended. We decided to head over there and the ambiance was super nice. Parking options are the self parking deck or valet. Being a sushi fanatic, I was super excited about this place. The server was super nice and helped us pick a few items from the menu. We ended up getting the Kamikaze roll, Hurricane Roll, Saki Aioli Nigiri and Otoro Caviar Nigiri. I was super underwhelmed! I could not believe it, the sushi, the fish, the flavor & freshness was subpar. For the price and the experience, I was expecting something out of the ordinary. I will not be returning to Umi.

Umi is one of the better options for sushi in Atlanta. The location is ideal. There's a green space outside of the restaurant that is so nice in any season but winter. It's usually a bit windy. The door to Umi is unassuming and can be easily missed. When requesting a reservation ask not to be seated on the patio in winter. It can be quite chilly even though it is enclosed and it is VERY dark. The main dining area is the most desirable. By all means, let them know you do not want to sit in the area by the hostess area. It is a very busy walkway and you can feel the cold air every time the door is opened. The waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating. They are quite knowledgeable about the different sushi. They also have vegetarian options. The rock shrimp are amazing and we've never missed the opportunity to have them. Always a favorite. The edamame is ok. It's nothing special, but good for snacking on. The Brussels sprouts are phenomenal. They are spicy, sweet, and simply wonderful.

Food was delicious! We dined here while visiting from out of town and let's just say it exceeded our expectations. We had omakase but would definitely order just off the menu next time. Everything looked/is amazing. The staff were super friendly. It was recommended to us to make reservations, so we had reservations plans prior to our trip that was at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

Service was amazing! Ambiance is very moody and pretty. We went for a girls night dinner and had a great time! Highly recommend the everything on the menu.

I'm into fitness.. like fitness whole sushi in my mouth~ :P From the moment I walked in @umisushiatl, the ambiance set the tone--elegant, modern, and sophisticated, yet still warm and welcoming. Omakase by Chef @kazuosushiboss was another great Omakase experience in the books! Each course was thoughtfully curated. What stood out most was not just the impeccable quality of the fish but also the harmony of textures and flavors. Each bite had its own story, and the pacing allowed me to fully appreciate every element. The uni was my personal favorite. It was so fresh & clean. Arigato & I learned a new word to prepare me for Japan "Itadakimasu" meaning "I humbly receive." Highly recommend for sushi lovers, special occasions, or anyone wanting to indulge in a truly elevated culinary experience.

Everything we ate was incredibly fresh and very tasty. Miso cod was scrumptious! Setting is gorgeous. Service was outstanding. But the prices are incredibly high.

I loved my experience at Umi in Buckhead!! We tried a variety of dishes, and I highly recommend all of them! We had the spicy tuna crispy rice, yellowtail jalapeno, eel avocado and shrimp roll, lobster, and otoro nigiri. I also tried the lychee martini which was perfect, not too sweet but also not too bitter!! The service was great, our server was very sweet and quick, the interior is clean and decorated beautifully with dark, intimate lighting, and they have so many different dishes on the menu to try. I definitely will come back for more!!

The main entrance is easy to miss, but once we found our way inside, we had an excellent dining experience for our anniversary. My favorite dishes were the nigiri (sake aioli and madai - red snapper) and the tuna carpaccio starter. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. For some reason, the restaurant is very loud. It was great for an anniversary dinner, but would be terrible for a first date. The servers were very nice, and I appreciated how promptly they grabbed plates to create space at our small table. Parking is either valet or in the Buckhead Plaza deck.

Umi in Atlanta is it for top-tier sushi in Buckhead. The whole place has this dark, moody vibe with an orange backlit glow that makes everything feel sleek. Started off with the thinly sliced yellowtail jalapeño and the spicy tuna crispy rice, which were both very good. Then came the rock shrimp, which were little bites of crispy, creamy perfection. But the real standout... the scallop and the lobster. Absolutely unreal. They cut everything so beautifully that it's almost too pretty to eat... I said almost. If you're into high-quality sushi with flawless presentation, Umi is the move.

Wow. The lobster tail and scallops is incredible, it needs to come with some bread or something because that sauce and it's a shame to wasted and should be illegal too. The service (John) was very knowledgeable and made the lobster and scallops suggestion and 10/10. I ordered all 10/10. Kamikaze Roll Typhoon Roll Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Yellowtail Jalapeno The vibe is very boogie and low, low light, cocktail attire. They take reservations but they are hard to get. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I wasn't sure how all the flavors would come together, but everything surprisingly worked so well. Next, I ordered the Langoustine Roll with pressed rice. At first, I didn't think I was going to like it, but it ended up being sooo flavorful and incredibly easy to eat. If you have a smaller mouth like me, you don't have to worry about making a mess because the sushi was so soft and practically melted with every bite. Of course, I had to order their Casanova Roll since it's what they're best known for, and it definitely did not disappoint! It was on the sweeter side with plenty of sauce, which was perfect for my palate. Now onto the Miso Steak. I ordered it medium, but some bites toward the end were more well done. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either, so I personally wouldn't recommend it. Overall, I had a great experience here, but I do think the food is overpriced. Also, be prepared to squint a little at the menu because it is very dark inside!

Law of supply and demand. But given the elevation in quality of life this establishment has provided me with across the years, I feel I owe them some good marketing through a review. If there was a sushi coefficient of freshness, quality, quantity, and cost, this place wins everyday. C= (Fr*Q*q*c) Fr: 9 Q: 8 q: 10 c: 10 C(Yokohama)= 7200 Don't get me wrong - the competition is fierce for delicious sushi (Fudo, MF sushi, Nobu, all the Omakase scenarios popping up in town). What this means is the cost (c) is way too high, giving it a low 1-5 in the equation. Also, quantity (q) is low, about 4-6. So, the resulting coefficient is very low overall. From my understanding, the fish here only comes from Japan, so it's good stuff - and they really load up the rolls (a lot of the time), and they have this deal on weekend for special rolls (25% off I think). So you do get the quality, quantity, and decent price (about $12-15 per specialty roll). The regular rolls are good too, and loaded with fish. E.g. spicy salmon/tuna. The Samurai Roll was substantial and I appreciate the generosity of the roll. It was topped with salmon, and usually when rolls are topped with fish, it's usually a pretty thin slice of fish, but these slices of salmon were quite thick in my opinion. The pieces of sushi themselves are also fairly thick - it was a big bite for me to eat each piece in one. I made a reservation in advance and the staff already had my table ready even though I was a little early. The table was already dressed with menus, chopsticks, and some small plates/sauce dishes. Two of my friends had spoken so highly of it, and after experiencing it for myself, I completely understood why. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were absolutely phenomenal. My friend and I came back about three weeks later for happy hour, and in between that birthday dinner and today, she has actually returned 3-4 more times because she lives only about seven minutes away. She has even taken the time to leave multiple positive reviews about Osha Thai because of how much she genuinely enjoys the restaurant. Needless to say, we are both familiar with and supportive of the restaurant. Unfortunately, today's experience missed the mark. As soon as we walked in, the energy just did not feel welcoming. We were really excited to come in for happy hour and sat at the bar from 5-7 PM. The restaurant was extremely slow when we arrived--in fact, we were the only guests there--yet it still took quite a while for the bartender to come over so we could even place our order. My friend was especially looking forward to the mussels, so she ordered those, while I ordered a sushi roll and we each ordered a drink. Unfortunately, she never received her mussels. The bartender, Tony, was not attentive throughout our visit, and we eventually had to get someone else's attention just to ask for our check. When we asked for the check, I made sure to mention that my friend had never received her mussels. The manager, Nick, came over, looked at the tab, and apologized. We explained the situation to him as well, but Tony was still nowhere to be found and never came over to acknowledge what happened or apologize. Nick did offer us a 15% discount card for a future visit, which we appreciated, but honestly, that wasn't really the point. It was about the principle and the overall experience. My friend and I have both worked in the restaurant industry for years, so we completely understand that mistakes happen. We're not expecting perfection. What matters is how those situations are handled, and unfortunately, we left feeling somewhat dismissed rather than valued. Despite everything, we still left a 20% tip because we understand the industry and don't believe one bad experience should define someone's livelihood. I'm sharing this because we genuinely love Osha Thai. My friend has supported this restaurant multiple times, has returned several times, and has posted multiple positive reviews about her experiences. That's why today was especially disappointing. We know Osha Thai is capable of providing the exceptional food, drinks, service, and hospitality that we experienced during the birthday dinner. Hopefully, today was simply an off day. We would love to return and have the experience that made us love Osha Thai in the first place.

I'm always skeptical of restaurants in this area of Buckhead but Brush was excellent. I got a…read morereservation on a Friday night for 4 of us and we got this super cute booth which was very roomy and cozy. Had to get some drinks of course and I am a sucker for a lychee martini which was delish. To start we got some classic edamame. We also decided to try the croissant with the mapo tofu which was essentially a spread but yum. We got the scallion pancake as well which was so good we got 2. For sushi we did the yellowtail jalapeno the wagyu and the spicy tuna. While I love the yellowtail the spicy tuna was my fave. And wagyu is always great! The negitoro was good but maybe not worth the splurge Make sure to save room for dessert because they have so many sweet treats. We of course had to another pastry and the espresso martini soft serve which was stunning!!! And then the matcha brownie for the show. They validate parking as well so overall such a great experience

Upon sitting we were greeted, given water and told the server it was our first time. We received no explanation of the menu or dishes and were left alone for roughly 15 minutes. We finally were able to put drinks in, only after our server was rude about the type of sake my friend was trying to order. We let it slide but we waited another 30+ minutes before we were able to put in food! We had already been sitting at the table for nearly an hour. The food however, arrived promptly and was delicious. We enjoyed everything we ate. We did have to ask to receive refills on our waters and to have our plates cleared. Overall our experience felt disjointed and incredibly unorganized. If it weren't for the food being excellent this would be a one star review. Beauty full space, excellent food, abhorrent service.
