Service is consistently quick and efficient, and I truly appreciate the review of the work completed before I drive off. In any language, even your beautiful native Portugese, this is oh so effen insulting and not at all bom. We customers make investments in you and the shop when we stay loyal. We promote and reccomend you and RicAuto to many others. Hey wait a minute, maybe by promoting new customers did we older smaller less profitable ones just arrange our own departure? Dang. We older car owners invested in you and your mechanics in good faith. My investments in were in a 2001 Jeep sold to me by the same man who sold you RicAuto....yeah, Ric. Mine was a close call - old wreck or restorable classic. Its a classic and I paid much for you to learn about the vehicle and so we could keep a this cool American SUV running. And, early on, you helped so much too find clever ways to make affordable repairs. Thank you again. Its what made the voicemail dump so insulting. I called telling you I can and need to invest and get some work. In closing, sure we customers have no right to any return on these investments. No right at all. Only an expectation and belief there will be fair treatment. So, please try to put yourself in one of your former customer's shoes. Where after investing thousands in you and your shop. If you're looking for garage that's not some chop shop in some sketchy part of Washington DC... If you're looking not to get ripped off by some overpriced Exxon-like franchise that could care less what you THINK is wrong, much less what may actually BE wrong with your car... If you're looking someplace that's a safe walking distance to the Metro... If you just want decent mechanic... ...do yourself a favor, print the map on the right-hand side and drop off your car there. I have never met a harder working car mechanic as honest as the owner of this shop, ever. Having been driving and wrecking cars for over 15 years in Washington DC, trust me, I've gone through more than a few. Anyone new in town, I always recommend this guy. New luxury car or every day, doesn't matter, he'll take care of you. Case in point: I rarely drive, when I do, I shamefully drive my old 1995 Toyota Corolla (yes garage kept mind you). I live nearly downtown DC, I have next to ZERO reason for using it except when I visit clients in VA or MD. What do I need a new a car for when this one workhorse works fine, right? Well it's old, and most old things need some help time to time. Over ten years old, DC city driving and the way I treat it, it's going to break for sure. Sure enough, it did, my transmission had to come out. Plus, I already knew I had a problem with the alternator (high whining sound, not good) and my clutch was definitely getting ridiculous hard to push and get any acceleration... in other words a mess. PLUS, it came at the worse time. I took it his shop, and then I got an expected emergency and I had to leave out of town. I was gone for two and half weeks, car at his place. So here's my bill, you decide: Parts 1 used, refurbished transmission $650 1 clutch repair kit $239.50 1 rear motor mount $38.95 2 Axle Shaft seal $24.72 1 engine rear seal $27.47 1 alternator $185.90 3 gear oil $29.95 1 alternator belt $21.00 Total Parts $1,218.49 Labor Replaced used transmission Replaced new clutch kit Replaced rear motor mount Replaced engine rear oil seal Replaced axel shaft seals Replaced alternator Replaced alternator belt Total Labor $800 + no extra storage fees and he kept parking inside his garage every night (I know because my brother drove by the shop to check it out himself). My car is working great. It's never any fun to drop $2k on anything, but I got my money's worth, just ask around town what the going rates for a transmission replacement job is these days... then ask how much for everything else he took care of. If someone knows a better deal, do let me know but I can't imagine finding someone that can beat that. This guy rules and I just realized I don't even know the man's name. Sheesh. OK, I think that's good enough for a review right? Yeah, I think so too. :)

I took my car recently and the mechanic misplaced the gas cap. You take your car to the auto service shop to get it fixed, not bring it home with new problems. When I went to the shop to check if the gas cap was there, they flat out refused to look for it and instead accused me of losing it. Like I would try to swindle a business for a $30 gas cap. That's less than what I pay for a full tank of gas. There are plenty of good auto service shops in the area that do fantastic work for reasonable prices and have excellent customer service. I will be taking my vehicle to one of those places.

This is a guru shop - from simple work to engine rebuilds to even engine swaps, they can do it all. They listen well and they tell you the truth. There are shops out there that say they do the work and don't actually do it...have heard stories. This is not one of those - old fashioned expertise and respect but full bore tech skills. True car nuts. My F-type is super happy using this shop - as is our vr6 R32. I have been to a lot of shops over the years - this is one of the good ones. Highly recommended. I plan to keep supporting them.

Randy went through the car for over 1 hour performing a detailed inspection. The detailed inspection was completed and Randy said the car was in perfect shape and did not need any parts or fluids. I asked how much for his 1 hour of time to inspect my car. Randy said no cost. I felt bad and offered $100.00 for 1 hour of labor and he said no. I then offered $50.00 for his time and he refused. You don't see this anywhere. Go to a Mercedes dealer and you will leave with a big bill. I trust Randy 1000% with my Mercedes. What a rare and great experience.

While shopping around the DC Metro area for a reputable shop to do the work or that "could" do the work- I was met with no returned phone calls, "....cant do it..." and no returned emails from the "contact us" form from a majority of businesses..... I saw Iron Mike's reviews on Yelp- pretty much all 5 stars coupled with a family run business and decided to consider them. My inquiry was returned almost immediately with a very fair and attractive quote, and they were more than accommodating in scheduling a mutually agreeable appointment time. While the location of the shop is somewhat off the beaten path of 355 proper in an area that time has seemed to have forgotten- I arrived at the agreed upon time, was greeted in a most welcoming manner and Iron Mike's took it from there. I was assured the work would be completed and I could pick my truck up at the end of the day so I decided to visit the Original Pancake House and explore White Flint and Rockville for the day-- To my surprise, just a few hours later, I got a phone call from Iron Mike's and was advised my truck was ready, everything went smoothly and I could pick up my truck any time. When I arrived, I was more than surprised to learn that because the job went a little quicker than anticipated, my bill was well under the quote and was incredibly fair !!!! It is so nice to see a business that appreciates YOUR business, coupled with taking pride in their work and more importantly doing a great job. It is also abundantly clear Iron Mikes knows their way around a car or a truck- and are very honest mechanics which is a rarity in this area. I would highly recommend Iron Mikes and will certainly have any additional work done there in the future. 5 Stars!
