It was a raining day and Rubens staff could not have been more accommodating. They took me home and then picked me up when my service was done. Another thing on my "to do" list was to vacuum the sand out of the back seat matts. I mentioned that to the man when he picked me up and he said "done. I did that for you". What a gem! A clip came off the undercarriage of my car that I purchased from Rubens, and I went down there today because it's normally open, but due to Covid they are not open on Saturday. A wonderful gentleman that works there happens to be there and he helped us with it. No charge or anything. My father took his car in and paid over a thousand dollars to get the car fully worked up before I bought it. Less than a week into using the car, the coolant level needs to be checked. When I called this place which unfortunately is about an hour and a half from where I live they essentially told me to go take it to my local autoshop. When I expressed that this was something that should have been checked in the full work up, I was told that the "coolant level was probably fine when we checked it." I expressed numerous times that it was disturbing to hear I would need to pay to have something remedied that was supposed to be checked when the car was serviced and continually it was conveyed to me that it was not their issue. I found this upsetting because at no point did the person who answered the phone apologize, offer to check with the person who serviced that car, take down any of my personal information or offer any advice on why this would be occurring if they were not responsible. This seems like a small issue but its the blatantly lack of customer service that pisses me off. I am not unreasonable but if this is how they treat customers who pay significant amounts of money to tune up their cars, I don't really want to offer them my patronage. read more

I have taken my car to Rubens for the past 2 years and always thought they were so honest and helpful and pleasant. Well I have been rudely awakened. They recently recommended a repair and after shopping other BMW highly recommended shops in the area I learned that their quote was twice as expensive $1,000 more any other shop. But the hardest lesson to learn was they said I needed two other expensive repairs but upon taking my car to another BMW repair shop I learned that neither repair was necessary at all. I wonder now if the previous repairs were necessary. Won't be going back to Rubens. read more

I purchased a Mercedes from JP at Rubens in May and the whole experience was really great. They took every care in making sure that all of my needs were met. There were a few things I wanted fixed/repaired prior to and after buying the car and they took care of everything for me, just as they had promised. I have been back a few times to have the car serviced and they gave me a loaner car, which is very convenient. They have always been very friendly, the work has been done in a timely manner, and the work was done to my satisfaction. Three days have gone by since my window fiasco and I still can't believe that people like Rubens are still around! In a world where money seems to be all that counts, these gentlemen treated me like a member of their family. I was traveling with friends when we were stuck in OC with a car window that would not close. Not only did I have to leave the car around with an open window, I'd soon need to drive my friends all the way back to San Diego and could only imagine the fierce highway wind. How lucky we were to find Rubens Imports. They treated me with utmost care, fixed my car, drove me to the harbor where we had planned to take a ferry to Catalina, brought my car back to the dock and provided the keys hours past their closing time and all this was done at a most reasonable fee. To top the favor, whey had washed and detailed my run-down Mercedes so beautifully that even I could not recognize it! And as if that was not enough, they have called me twice to make sure I am satisfied. Their pleasant approach, sincerity, professionalism and care is beyond description. Lucky are those who live close by. As for me, I am more than willing to drive the one-hour distance any time and receive such great care. read more

I called up Ruben's after spotting them on Yelp, because they were close to where I was stranded, and asked if they could do a jump start. I'm usually suspicious of too many 5-star reviews, but quite frankly, the rating is deserved in this case. I brought in an old mercedes with a suspected busted fuel pump. Raphael was my point of contact, and he's pretty clearly the boss-man of the repair bays. I was impressed with the speed they worked with, confirming the fuel pump issue in about 20 minutes or so, and giving me a reasonably priced quote. I watched them in action a little bit, being discreet, and I was impressed with his training/teaching the other mechanics while he worked. The job was done in a few hours, but because I was working, they kept it overnight. The dude knows his mercedes, and I would readily use his services again. read more

I own a 2008 BMW and took it into Ruban's in July to repair an oil leak that was not apparent because the oil was being caught in the under carriage tray. The valve cover gasket needed to be replaced prior to repair I went to get an estimate and diagnostic from the dealership. Ruban's pricing and service out did the dealership in Irvine. Their staff is very knowledgable and welcoming. When you go there you are made to feel like family. Today (Aug) I am back for an oil change and brake fluid flush. Once again, pricing Is better alongside their outstanding service! Not to mention they always have the car washed when I pick it up! read more

THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE AND I AM NOT THE TYPE TO USUALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT SERVICE BUT THIS PLACE IS HONESTLY THE WORST MECHANIC I HAVE EVER BEEN TO BY FAR AND IVE BEEN TO ABOUT 4 DIFFERENT BMW MECHANICS WHO HAVE WORKED MY BMW. It started off when I took my car in to my old mechanic in huntington beach while I was in town there (Hansa Motors on mcfadden wonderful place!) I needed a timing belt, water pump, and tensioner. He quoted 490 but was busy that week so I took it home for the day. I always see Rubens driving home I live locally in Dana Point and thought I should give them a chance especially seeing as my belt was on its last legs and I didn't want to drive far (pretty much whole reason I tried them). First they quoted me $90 more $580 for the same repair as someone who specializes specifically in BMW's. I reluctantly agreed since I needed the car to get to work ASAP. I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THEM "if there are any other problems or thing's I should know about call and let me know because I don't have a lot of money to spend on it right now, but I'd probably bring it back when I had the extra money." That is pretty much word for word EXACTLY what I said. So they next day at work I'm on bathroom break and check my phone to see that I had missed a call from the mechanic who left a message saying just to call back and the number (which I couldn't do at the time since I was at work). I'm 18 and when I dropped my car off I had her pick me up and put her number as a secondary number to call. Turns out the mechanic decided to call her up and ask my mother if they should repair a radiator hose and to engine fan blades (I GAVE HER NOR THE MECHANICS ANY PERMISSION TO DO ANY EXTRA WORK ON MY VEHICLE) which she unknowingly agreed to thinking I would want that. So when I go to pick up the car turns out the $580 bill is now $740 for two radiator hoses and to repair the stupid fan which they supposedly charged no labor on (looked up prices myself unless they buy them for higher then consumer retail then I certainly doubt that). So they had someone else approve repairs for me without my consent at work after specifically telling them to make sure to contact ME if anything happened (they could have at least said something about that in the message I had no idea if they were just calling for me to pick up my car). And after all this they show me how my lower control arm is messed up and they literally demonstrate it by vigorously shaking my wheel back and forth (now when I drive and turn left I hear it squeak so loud which it NEVER did before even if it did need to be replaced I feel like they literally where trying to break the thing jiggling it like crazy. They also did the same with my shocks leaving dirty handprints all over my hood while demonstrating how bad my shocks are. The funny thing is when they showed me all this like 4 mechanics were all around us like they where ready for us to complain and they were obviously well trained at explaining why your bill is so high at the same time further trying to drain your money. My car is a 1992 3 series with 200,000+ miles on it and they treated my car like crap which makes me so mad because its very important to me. Honestly if you care about the long term of your car and want someone who is fair priced and actually cares and shows some respect for your vehicle DONT COME HERE. Maybe if your rich and have a leased car or don't give a crap about the future of your current car then Id recommend them for the convenience. ONE OF THE FUNNIEST PARTS IS HOW THEY SUPPOSEDLY ARE SUPPOSED TO RETURN YOUR CAR WASHED! I washed my car 2 days before bringing it in and it came out of there shop much dirtier then when I brought it in. To add insult to injury they left a 2x2 inch oil or coolant spill on my hood (didn't even come out the same day i got it back even after washing and waxing). They left water spots all down the side of my car which destroys paint especially on cars 20+ YEARS OLD!!! Come on now these people are a joke. I even have pictures if anyone wants to pm me for them I'd gladly email them to you. I had that bad gut feeling from the moment I walked in there they are pretty good actors but you can FEEL that they don't give a crap about you or your car they JUST want your money AND AS MUCH OF IT AS POSSIBLE. Please heed my advice or take it in at your own risk there are many other bmw (OR WHATEVER FOREIGN CARE YOU HAVE) mechanics in south OC that are better, respectful, and most importantly genuine. These people have fake written all over them and disrespected my car and my requests. Ya after they threw on the EXTRA REPAIR WITHOUT MY VERBAL OR WRITTEN PERMISSION even though I specifically asked they do so what are you supposed to do tell them to take it apart and brake the fan blades again and put on the hoses they had ripped off and destroyed? PLEASE DONT GO HERE IM NOT EXAGGERATING OR BEING DISHONEST THIS IS ALL 100% TRUE COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO WORKS IN SERVICE INDUSTRY. read more
