This was my first time doing delivery through Rubio's site, and I was impressed! For pickup, I usually pay about $16.86 for the classic taco trio and the Salsa Verde Grilled Shrimp Taco. For delivery, it came out to $20.86 with a $1.99 delivery fee plus about $2 in additional fees (not totally sure what that one was for) but for the convenience of being home and comfy, I didn't mind it at all. Still felt pretty affordable. They also send a lot of text updates about your order, which I really liked, it kept me in the loop the whole time. Delivery does take a bit longer than pickup, but again, super convenient so I expected that. My delivery experience was great! The tacos from this location were actually pretty big and filling ! This evening I picked something up. I ordered a chicken burrito. When I got it home, it didn't feel that hot, so I put it in the air fryer to heat it up more. Service was okay! This was a great experience and visit. We stopped here before a movie across the street. When we arrived there were about 12-15 people dining. We were greeted right away by the cashier. She was so patient with us as we tried to enter 3-4 phone numbers for our loyalty account. I had a reward on my account but she did not offer for me to use it. We ordered: 1 California Burrito with Steak, 1 Chicken Chopped Salad, and 1 Sparkling water. We found a seat right away. I visited the salsa bar to get the Tomatillo Salsa, which is my fave here. It's been many years since I've last eaten at a Rubio's when I saw an advertisement for fish and chips. I give them another chance. when they brought the dish to our table. It appeared to be good, but when I bite into it, it was cold and there was no crunch. The flavor was lacking, but the tartar sauce has a snap to it, which is really good. The french fries were clump together but tasty. They're fountain drinks lacked carbonation so every soda that we tried was flat unfortunately, I will not be going there ever again. read more

0/10!! This evening I came in and ordered a sweet potato burrito and it took forever. I went in at 818p and I didn't get my burrito until 840 something. I understand it takes a little while for the sweet potato burrito but not 30mins... the cashier was amazing! She was great and very friendly but that doesn't overshadow the food! The order she inputted was correct but they gave me something entirely different. When I walked out I went to my car and noticed I only had 1 bag of chips and I ordered 2 so I had to go back for that. Usually the service is never bad for me but I'm not sure what happened this go round. I am allergic to guacamole so I don't eat it but I took one bite and noticed it was guacamole and spit it out. My mouth is itching and I am contemplating going to the ER. If they weren't close I would have sent by boyfriend back in to get the correct order. If i could leave 0 stars, i would. I ordered the new power bowl with a promised 70g of protein. Bro they gave me my bowl and it was literally straight beans, rice, and lettuce. We order Rubios Fish Tacos at least twice a month. They are always so good! And they are always really careful with my food allergies. However, last night {2.5.26} we again ordered our usual Fish Tacos. The delivery was on time. About 20 minutes after I finished eating, I got really sick with food poisoning. I know it had to be the cabbage due to all my food allergies, because my fish tacos only have fish and cabbage. This is the 1st time I've ever gotten sick from Rubios. Maybe the cabbage was a little old. This could have been a one off. But please Rubios, please be careful with your vegetables. read more

My Fav Rubio's in all SD! First of all I like to say I'm a fan of Rubio's just in general but this one is my fav. The customer service, the vibe & cleanness, freshness of the food & speed of the cooks is all on point. Right when you walk in the staff is friendly & they have patience with you (I ask a lot of questions about meals) & it's always clean or someone is cleaning once a customer leaves their table. All those things I mention matter a lot & believe it or not just makes the food taste better in any establishment, customer service life's matter :) My go to of course is the Fish Taco meal with beans & chips, love their beans & their chips are always fresh which I appreciate. My girls love their bean cheese burrito & the red salsa that comes in it & the chicken taquitos. I also love their Salmon & Maui taco. Their Steak & Chicken tacos are good but we come here for the fish tacos & we love it & they have MR.PIBB, not Dr.Pepper but MR.PIBB! Now that's keeping it 90's & I love it. They also got a pretty good salsa bar & make sure to check in on Yelp they always have some sort of discount. I ordered online and my order was up and ready exactly on time. The employees are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I ordered the Langostino tacos. They were seasoned to perfection on flour tortillas. This is one of my favorite go to places since they started in Pacific Beach many many years ago. Prices are good and food is excellent. read more

I placed a carry out order today and my cashier was Beatriz (tag said manager) I ordered a burrito especially and a California steak burrito (no salsa fresca) I am beyond disappointed This place is worse than Chipotle with how skimpy they are. I paid $15 for a burrito that looked like those Mexican burritos you buy from the lunch lady that cost $2.50. LITERALLY 5 FRIES (5!) they just threw a half ass guacamole scoop no Chipotle sauce. This is a complete robbery! We work so hard to enjoy a nice meal to get skimped on my food. This location is always organized, clean, and efficient with friendly staff! I love that their ingredients are fresh, healthy, and sure to hit the spot! I've tasted pretty much their whole menu, and can appreciate the variety they offer! Their churros are also yummy if you're craving something sweet! I FREAKING LOVE RUBIOS - but update- this location (Tierra del Rey) customer service sucks. They couldn't help me figure out how to get the deal of the day... I got a text message this morning about Thursday free kids meals! I Thought to myself this is perfect my son is getting shots at the doctor today so I'll reward him with some free Rubios! I got a text message about this tried to create an account and it kept giving me an error ... so I tried to get help. The lady inside and the guy couldn't help me and couldn't honor the kids meal without the code- wouldn't help in any way, it was starting to get busy so they were showing obvious signs of not wanting to help me at all- even tho they saw my phone and the proof that it wouldn't allow me to complete the account. I forgot I reviewed this place before, and in my reviews 4 years ago, I mentioned how there was barely any shrimp in my shrimp tacos or bacon in my shrimp and bacon burrito (two different occasions). Maybe it is THIS sole location of Rubio's, but they never give enough ingredients. After an intense workout, I wanted to get a salad to eat so I could have a little something in my stomach before I cook my lunch (I get hungry). I get the avocado and vegetable salad and add chicken. I get home and it's a good salad, then after moments of eating it, I see a little avocado slice... I had completely forgotten there was avocado in it because there was NONE. There were about two little pieces of avocado, the same size as a shredded carrot. Also, I saw one little cauliflower. Is that what they mean when they say "avocado and vegetable salad"? One cauliflower? Or was that in there on accident? Not to mention, the greens to chicken ratio was terrible. I don't think I want to go back to this location. read more

My mother was very disappointed with her visit. " Last Tuesday of this week me and my husband went to eat at Rubios. We used to eat there once in awhile and we loved it. But that day , we're very disappointed because the fish tacos we ordered was just plain without tomatoes sour cream and cabbage . We asked one employee, a lady why there's no tomatoes n sour cream on them. The lady said we have to request them to put in fish tacos. I went today for a take-order and ordered a burrito. Substituted the shrimp for their in-season Langostinos. I was super excited when I arrived home until my first bite was incredibly spicy. This was odd for me until I saw spicy grilled green peppers in my burrito. It sucks to realize this until I was already home. My husband and I grabbed lunch here today and it was delicious. I ordered the Ceaser salad bowl with chicken, I really wished I would have gotten it with steak after trying my husbands tacos. First when we entered we waited some time before someone came to help us There was something beeping on a screen for a LONG time and my husband actually turned it off because it was so obnoxious. Once someone came to take our order, all seemed normal. I ordered two fish tacos and she noted it was cheaper to buy it as a lunch deal which includes a drink, so I did. My husband is in love with the beans so he ordered a taco, a large bowl of beans and an order of chips. The beans were so bad that he only ate about a third of the bowl and then said lets go. My tacos were almost all breading with very little actual fish and the sauce was just dolloped in one spot on them. It was just an overall weird and not pleasant experience. This review is solely on the cleanliness of the place. If I would have known how dirty everything was I would have passed on eating here. I'm honestly thinking about calling the health department. I have attached a picture of our plates. My husband pointed out how dirty they were and I told him it wasn't possible that it was just the design of them. I was so intrigued at the idea though to be honest... could it be that the plates were so dirty that people like me would not notice? I went on to grab a lemon and napkin and scrub the plate. I could not believe it! It was packed on grease and just filth. I suddenly felt disgusted to have just eaten there. I then looked around and it appears to be just as dirty as the plates. The tables are packed with filth too. Check out your plate next time your there. Please tell me I'm wrong! Make sure you put some elbow grease when rubbing, it looks like years of gunk. read more

With our Kia Sportage loaded with landscape rocks from Home Depot, my wife and I decided to give this Rubio's a try. Full disclosure: Like Ralph Rubio, I'm a San Diego State Aztec for life. Our choices were identical, the Coastal Trio ($9.69), a wonderful plate of three tacos. One was the 'patented' Rubio's fish taco, another a tasty blackened Mahi taco, and the third contained grilled, seasoned shrimp. Dang, they made for an excellent meal! My favorite was the standard-issue fish taco, but the other two were excellent. Visually, I would have liked some tortilla chips on the plate, but gastronomically, they were totally unnecessary. The salsa bar had four choices of salsa, my favorite being the Roasted Chipotle, in addition to lime wedges as well as a few other condiments, napkins, etc. Oh, and they serve Coke products, a plus in my opinion. Next to the soft drink dispenser were two containers, one of mango agua fresca and the other of lemonade. I preferred the Minute Maid lemonade from the dispenser. The restaurant is a stand-alone building, and across the parking lot are Pep Boys and Papa John's pizza, and across the street are Burger King and Costco. (What more could a guy ask?) The dining area is interestingly L-shaped, and seemed well organized and quite clean. In fact, during our brief repast, I noticed Omar cleaning the beverage and salsa areas twice, and busing tables almost continuously when he wasn't ringing the register. The all-gender restroom was spotless. They're definitely doing it right. read more

The first picture is what's advertised as the "Cilantro lime quinoa bowl" the second one (completely untouched, this was how I received it) was a very poor excuse of what it's supposed to be. I understand that what you order will never look like the pictures advertised but this is just embarrassing. The portion is definitely not worth the $12 dollars I paid and barely enough for a 10 year old to enjoy. To add insult to injury there's barely any chicken to be spoken for and the ingredients are looking anything but fresh. Definitely would not recommend. read more

I love rubios, but holy s--t, this place dropped the ball last night. Got fish original fish tacos and bean and cheese burritos to go, but all the food was off. The batter or oil for the fish must have been rancid or old, or both. They were edible, but that is not saying much at this point. My burrito was mush and rolled sideways, so all the cheese and salsa was at one end. It felt like I got the "oops, all beans" burrito. Now on to the food poisoning. I got a strong stomach, so all I got was some rumbly tummy and an almost disaster when I went shopping this morning. My wife was not so lucky. 1:30 am rolls around, and she leaps out of bed and reenacts that scene from "The Excorcist" in our bathroom. I can't in good conscience recommend this particular rubios until I get some acknowledgment from the owner that they've changed to a cleaner practice of food prep. Avoid for your own sanity and health. Unless you're into projectile vomit, then by all means. I don't want compensation or anything, I just want to be able to have confidence that when I eat here again, I won't be in danger of going "code brown" in the middle of the produce section of costco. read more

But, they need to get reasonable about their prices!! They charge the same prices as an actual restaurant! I stopped by here with my daughter before heading back to work. It was close by. As we entered, I decided to order a burrito especial and a fountain drink. I also got my daughter a bottle water. The nice guy at the counter gave me my number and my drink cup. The positive here is they have Coke products, but I decided to get a raspberry iced tea. I miss drinking that. At least it's not soda. Anyway, my order came out pretty quickly. The burrito had chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, beans and plenty of rice which was filling. I didn't like the black beans in there. Along with my burrito my combo came with chips and refried beans which were better than the black beans. The burrito was ok but didn't taste authentic. It's your typical fast food.
