I love fish tacos and although I do enjoy coming here, I don't think their fish is that fresh. Well, let me rephrase, I don't think the oil they fry their fish in is that fresh. It went past the due date of how often oil should be changed out when frying food. Don't skimp out on this step Rubio's! Other than that, the service was good, the salsa was good and the experience as a whole wasn't too bad. They just really need to work on changing out their oil more frequently. read more

This place is awesome! The food is outstanding, always fresh and made to order perfectly! All of the salsas in the salsa bar are amazing, and the restaurant itself is kept super clean and bright. We began going to Rubio's 7 years ago when we first moved to the west side and loved their food then. They've recently changed the menu and I must say, although we don't go that often anymore we love sitting outside when the weather's nice and enjoy our food. I usually have their salad bowl and it's plenty of food (I share with my 3 year old daughter). Their food's good, it's prepared when ordered and they give little kids a little bag with crayons for them to stay busy. read more

Normally I would assign 4.5 stars to this location. In the last month not so much. Ordered two weeks ago by phone. Had to call three times for someone to pick up and this was for a catered order. First two times someone picked up and disconnected. Today I walked in and witnessed the phone ringing and no one attempted to answer. There were less than 15 patrons and no line to order. Manager was at register... Borderline friendly at best. No one was behind us yet felt hurried by manager at register. Strange experience for Rubios as an ironical San Diego native home of Rubios... Hopefully next time will be back to the 4.5 I have experienced for the last 20 plus years being a customer. read more

Headed to Rubio's for the first time, and I was very pleased. I ordered the California Bowl w/ chicken. It was pretty good. Would I eat it over Chipotle? No, but c'mon there's no "fast food" place that beats Chipotle. The one thing that I LOVE about Rubio's is their salsa bar. They had 6 different kinds of unlimited salsa! I don't know about you, but when it comes to salsa, I'm a massive scooper not a petite little dipper. I like as much salsa as possible with each bite and their unlimited selection suited my preferences perfectly, and the variety was great as well. I'll definitely be back because it seems that they are more well known for their seafood dishes like fish tacos. I'll head back and give those a whirl when I get some time. read more

We visited Rubio's for the first time in quite a while this evening. It won't be the last. The blackened tilapia tacos are absolutely wonderful. The dressing and coleslaw surrounding the perfectly prepared tilapia were delicious. I'm not a fan of cilantro, but the cilantro was so delicate, I didn't even notice it. The platter came with 2 tacos, refried beans, and tortilla chips made right there in the restaurant. The beans and chips were a nice complement to the star of the show...the tacos. One caution: The blackening made the tacos very spicy with more than a little heat. I loved it, but if you like your food mild, I'd think about a different menu item. read more

Rubio's is a better option on the never ended chains for Mexican fare. Service was great and food arrived fast. Tried the California Burrito which was good but not amazing. My 5 year old went with the fish taco kids meal and has been asking to go back since. Good value for kids meals which is something we appreciate. I will definitely go back. read more

Great service and ambience. Salmon and tilapia taco and the refried beans were very bland! Not usual for Rubio's so I was dissatisfied. The gourmet shrimp taco was excellent. Cheese, bacon and salsa and the well seasoned shrimp blended extremely well. Another positive was that the soda fountain station housed Vanilla Coke which is rare for restaurants. read more

So happy to get to eat INSIDE on a 110 degree today! Thanks for re-opening for those who are sick of take-out & drive-thrus. This is one of my favorite fast casual restaurants! The Covid-19 safety measures are evident & appropriate such as the hand sanitizer in several spots, spacing out of tables & back to disposable plates,etc. There was 1 issue that I wanted to point out- the staff needs to be a little more on top of cleaning & sanitizing each table as customers leave. I have been to several Rubios and this one by far has my vote for being the best. Place is spacious and set up for Covid but they had me at friendliness and the quality food they serve. I went to this location, which is about a 10 mile round trip from home. Every time I have been here, it has been good. This time was the first time that I have had poor service. They were not verifying orders at the counter, and my $34.15 food was taken by someone else. I asked the manager when my food would be done, and she had no clue what happened to it. She said they would remake it. A few minutes later, some guy walked in with my bags of food, and got his order. She tried to get me to take the order which had left the restaurant 10 minutes before and now came back, but I asked to have it remade. I was not offered a drink or anything for the inconvenience. She seemed put out, and it was not gone through when she gave it to me. I ordered 2 chipotle white sauces and a large one to go with the large chips I ordered and paid for them, but got home to find a couple of small ones with about a quarter inch of sauce and no large one. I called the restaurant, and the manager Aiden, said she gave me what I ordered. After arguing the point, she offered to refund the sauces. I mentioned the order of chips I bought for the sauce. She said I can get a refund on those items when I come in. I said with the rude attitude, I might not be back in. She said that was all she could do. Cannot recommend enough to avoid this manager, as these small things appear to be enough to really trouble her. read more

This location just continues to struggle . Food is completely inconsistent. Tonight we ordered 3 meals. Waited forever for food to come. Watched people that came in after us get their food. Finally had to go to counter to ask for our food. My husbands food was ice cold been sitting there the whole time . My daughters meal was barely warm. My husband took his meal back up to the counter and complained to the manager that the food was cold and her response was sorry we are just super busy. Whenever is being busy an excuse to serve cold food. Skip this location go to the one in Avondale. read more

I don't understand why it's so hard to make the correct salad (ordered two chopped salads with shrimp and when we got home, they turned out to be the chipotle california with chicken) I had to go back to the restaurant in order to fix the issue, when I walk in the kitchen is blaring their weird trap music on their phones and making snapchats and basically yelling. I walked in and waited in line to place a to go order, as soon as the customer in front of me was finished with their order, the cashier taking orders answers the phone (which took five minutes). What they should have done is put the caller on hold, or have someone else working there take the order especially since they had plenty of staff there that evening. My kids got nachos with only cheese (rolling eyes) and they loved them but of course I thought they were quite bland. Our family loves Rubio's and frankly it sucks that we have to leave a One Star review, they have lost our business completely. We were dining in at least once a week before the pandemic and take out after. We had problems with 2 take out orders and my wife called after the second wrong order and spoke to Brianna. Brianna said she was the manager, however she is the most unprofessional manager we have ever dealt with. She actually told my wife that people are F**king crazy and hung up on her. My wife attempted to call the store during the day on Monday, never heard from a store manager. My wife then called corporate, left a message and have not heard back in 3 weeks. Tried this location for the first time and was really taken aback by the lack of customer service. I ordered ahead, and went to the pick up line. The manager was at the register next to it, helping no one, and I looked over for acknowledgement I guess???? because there was no one at the pick up station. Just at that moment, someone else walked up, and he asked them if they were waiting for their order. I was FLOORED! So he smiles, hands them their order and then walks away....ok...then another order comes up, he checks the boxes, I am still standing there, and he puts the boxes in a bag, and goes back to the register. So I look into the bags to see if it was my order, which it was, and all he did was give me the side eye as I looked inside the bag. I'm sorry, but a lack of cordiality and good customer service across the board is a HUGE NO NO for me. I truly believe in treating others as you want to be treated and truly can't digest how people automatically and unwarrantedly respond to some customers in a rude and negative manner, while others they treat respectfully. My husband and I went today just before before 2pm, so lunch rush supposed to be over, well we ordered 2 steaks bowls, and they brought back 2 chiken bowls, at that time I went to the lady's room and this was the second time this week I have been here, literally, I went to wash my hands before eating, and again there was no hand soap, come on, am I the only woman over there missing that? How do the females "cooks" do it after leaving the restroom?. Going back to the food we ordered, we went and showed them that we paid for steak bowls, so I didn't care but my husband wanted the steak, so he asked them to remake our order, and guess what they barely put any steak in the new bowl. Two days ago the mahi tacos were tasty, but tiny and they didn't even give me the chips, I paid $12.96, just for 2 fish tacos and 1 drink. Sometimes they even give me free chips (I love their chips so this is a plus! ;) lol) I've never had Rubio's before going to this location and I love it now. We were driving around sight seeing, shopping all that good stuff you do winter in Surprise,AZ. So we see this place called Rubios. It does not say what type of food etc. we go in not even knowing what to order look at the prices and menu. There is a restaurant next door too, so we go and check it out. Some type of oriental place where you choose two or three scoops and all the added ingredients with your price of two or three scoops, prices vary on what type of fish. We decided to go back to Rubios. My wife had Chipotle orange salad with grilled chicken. My daughter Had the Chopped salad with grilled chicken. Myself love fish tacos. All were great but the winner and best tasting Chipotle orange salad. Hands down the chicken was seasoned like it marinated, not dried out. The selection of sauces we amazing from very spicy to mild. The service was fantastic and the pricing reasonable. My order and daughter were on that day the special of the day. The specials every day are different. What is done usually it's cost a dollar less and a soft drink include. Will return to any Rubios. read more
