Sadly today is the last day I will ever walk through the door at Rubio's Tustin again. Let me start out by saying that I absolutely love their food. It's healthy and taste great at a reasonable price. However, the service is horrid. I got so tired of waiting in line in the past with only one person at the register so this was my last and final try where I placed it over the phone and drove down 15 mins later. There was a special line for phone orders and pick ups and there was another line that was going out the door and she made sure to help everyone in line before she came to me so I just ended up walking out the door and leaving my food and ordering next-door at Natraj's Indian. This is the first time I've ever left food after I place an order but I honestly don't feel bad. I refuse to work with restaurants that don't care about their customers. I hope you staff properly and wish your company the best but you have lost me as a customer. read more

Highly recommend! The location of this Rubio's is convenient as it is located near Ralph's and CVS. Service was fast and friendly. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Haven't been having Rubio's for a few months and decided to order my usual Family Burrito Box for dinner. It consists of 4 burritos of your choice, 2 sides (beans and rice). My family usually order from the Tustin Market Place location but since it's closer to my husband, I tried the Harvard one this time. My bad decision turned my Friday night anticipation into a disappointment. A few items of what I ordered online were missing. My order of jalapeño Salsa, utensil pack, lime etc. were not inside the take out bag. For the taste of food, the burritos are ok, no complaints. However, my citrus rice is COLD. Overall, I would say if you want Rubio's for dinner, pick other locations. The one in Tustin Market Place is a better pick for dinner. You've got to love all the food holidays these days! I came here for the National Burrito Day deal, which was $5 + tax for your choice of a burrito. I ordered the Blackened Wild Ono burrito which has fire-roasted corn, guac, Mexican rice, chipotle sauce, cilantro/onion mix, and cabbage plus comes with a side of tortilla chips. I had high hopes for this burrito, but it was just...pretty average tasting. Sadly, there was nothing really that blew me away about it. The rice could have used more flavor and the fish was dry and flaky. I'm hoping I just caught Rubio's during an off time because if I had paid full price for this burrito, I'd be much more upset. They do sustainably source as much of their seafood as they can from responsibly managed fisheries that maintain healthy populations and ecosystems without harming the environment, so I'm sure this drives the cost up slightly. Since many others had the same idea as me, the wait was a little longer than what I imagine it'd typically be, so the manager was kind enough to pass out a free bag of tortilla chips for everyone who was waiting. They have an awesome salsa bar with a selection of three salsas plus the cilantro/onion mix, lemon and lime wedges. I'm going to take this experience with a grain of salt (given the circumstances) and will give it another go sometime later. read more

I come here from time to time, but yesterday was the worst I've ever experienced. I ordered from the app, which said the food will be ready for pick up in 13 minutes. It ended up being 30. To make it worse, the food was lukewarm when we got it. How did that happen?! Another lady came up, asked if she could have her food to go because she had been waiting and ran out of time of being able to eat in. I understand it's Taco Tuesday, but I've had it before on Tuesday where everything was efficient. We ate here Saturday night for dinner, we wanted something quick. This was my second time at this location and the last time the food was overpriced and disappointing- we had the protein bowls. This time we both had the fried fish taco combo. I had black beans and mexican rice as my sides. Only one fish taco had much fish in it. Also, I told the worker that there was no white sauce. The red sauce was terrible, and I asked them for some white sauce. The rice and beans were okay and the sides were so small. Most other tacos places have larger sides. I haven't eaten here recently so I don't know if it's just this location or the quality of the fish tacos have deteriorated. Yelp 2015 Challenge #35 Meh I've experienced better sound about right. Came here after an interview on a Tuesday afternoon/mid-morning around 11am, and it was mostly empty. That was alright. Ordered a gourmet shrimp taco which came out to be around $4.29. I had known that Rubio's prices were kinda high, but did not expect it to be that high O_O. I expected more than what I was given. The food itself was better than average, which is what gives this that second star, but shocked at how small and how little of a taco I received for that price. There were a couple pieces of shrimp around, and a little avocado in there. Oh and the worst part for me? MY CARD WAS DECLINED HERE. TWICE. Luckily I had another card which was thankfully accepted. I wasted two hours figuring out what was wrong with the card calling my company. Couldn't even connect, used my card elsewhere and to this day, that card is still fine x_X So I don't know why or if it couldn't read it, but just a warning to everyone (: Service is better than normal, they were cleaning the outside windows and restocking, so they are hard at work. I am a huge fan of Rubio's unfortunately this location really is not very good. I usually order a blackened Mahi Mahi burrito and did on this occasion. It fish was not blackened and the builder did not spread out the ingredients out as you would for your own burrito . The fish was at one end and rice and etc at the other end of the burrito. Rubios Salsa's are also very good and on occasion they use ice in the salsa to keep it cool (Hot Summer ) and it waters it down and ruins it. With the Covid they now pre-package the salsa in the clear plastic cups. There should be no reason to water it down however this location did and basically it was terrible ... totally sucked . I specifically requested items on the side and no white sauce. Got my order home and every taco was drowning in the chipotle white sauce. The items were on the taco and not on the side like I requested. Just a gross mess. I had to toss the entire order. Also, don't waste your time requesting items from the salsa bar. When you pick up your order, you have to go to the salsa bar and get what you want yourself. They will not do it for you and place it in your bag. I regret leaving a decent tip. After renovation, this Rubio's looks much nicer and modern than before. I loved coming here for their Taco Tuesday fish tacos, and I STILL come back for their Taco Tuesday fish tacos! I always get the regular fish tacos ($1.50 on Tuesdays) on flour tortillas. The tacos are pretty decently sized.. I always get 2 and that fills me up! I think the bad ratings on here are all from the very uptight business people who work next door in the business park. I'm an average Joe who's not as important as them, but I'm definitely as hungry. I used to be a fish tacos on flour ONLY kind of guy, until I branched out and tried the salsa verde shrimp tacos. I'm hooked. I don't know if I'll ever go back. I've ordered ahead: no problem. I've walked in during a busy time: no problem. I've had them mess up an order: free taco. I've been going here for years: consistent food, service, etc. I've ordered a big order: maybe only one or two mistakes on beans vs rice or what have you, but the critical stuff is intact. I don't think people go on yelp to check out a place like Rubios, but if you are reading this, you're going to get the two taco plate with either the Original Fish Taco, or the salsa verde shrimp taco. The salsa bar is to die for, get everything and put a little bit on your tacos with some lime. Get those little extra spice bottles and just do some pointilism on your tacos, just so you get that "zing". I always leave with lips burning... burning to tell someone about how awesome my lunch was. The worst service and food ever!!!! We walked in and did not get acknowledged by the gentleman behind the counter. He just stood behind the register, looking around, unsure if he was ready we walked up and began our order. Then, when the server came around to. Ring our food, he just tossed the bowl at the table and turned around to leave. Did that 2 more times with the other 2 plates. Food was tasteless. I got the baja bowl but the corn was frozen, the rice was very over cooked, the beans were cold. It was just bad. The other bowl was also bad, mango bowl. I work near here and would visit every once in a while when in the mood. I guess it'd been some time since my last visit - during my latest, I realized they have changed slightly. Besides the typical price increases, it appears they are being more "eco friendly" with their new to-go containers, etc. Can't lose with the grilled grande bowl (w/ any protein you like). I reserve my taco eating for the authentic places we go to but here, their salads and bowls are commendable. Also, I love their pinto beans - when I'm feeling snacky, a bowl of their beans, some spicy salsa and chips will make me one happy girl. Salsa bar is average. The spicy salsa is my favorite though the chipotle one is not bad either. All have a "processed" quality to them but will do in a pinch. I had my daughter's last min birthday party here due to the weather issue. Placed the catering order the day before. When I get there one hour before, the manager already put the tables and chairs together for me in the patio area. She also put aside a serving station for us. During the party, they came to check on us periodically to make sure that everything was ok. They also help to clean up after the party. Food is great! I ordered taco bars. I didn't know that some of the parents are vegetarian but they were able to find plenty of choice to eat. Everyone had a great time! When it's not Tuesday, they're on the pricy side but you definitely get plenty of fish and toppings so I think the price is pretty fair. The fish is always crispy especially in the original tacos with a like flaky breaded layer. This is also the only place I like to eat refried beans at. read more
