It was the first time that I come to this location of Rubio's. The decor was fine - - not as cute and beachy as the old location that we used to love at Mesa Grand. There's plenty of seating which is really good on a Friday during Lent. I like just about everything on the menu at Rubio's. One of my favorite things is to order the chicken chopped salad and the street corn and mix them together. So good. But today was no meat Friday, so I got the battered fish tacos, which are always yummy. My son got the fish and chips, and hubby got the shrimp tacos. I really liked my battered fish tacos, but I did order the grilled fish tacos. As it turns out, he did not charge me for the grilled fish tacos. I did say three or four times I wanted the grilled fish and I was perfectly happy to pay the extra $2, so I was a little sad that he put in the order as the wrong item. The person who brought them out to me said he would be happy to take them back and bring me grilled fish tacos, but I said not to worry about it because my family already had their meals and I was fine with batter fish tacos. In the end it was fine and I was just as happy with what I got. The food is consistent at Rubio's, and there is something for everyone, whether you like fish or chicken or just bean cheese. Recently, I had stopped at another location as I've been craving a good shrimp taco. Unfortunately, it left me still desiring a good one. I recalled Rubio's having good fish tacos when I last at fish/seafood. When I saw they delivered via Ubereats, I knew it was a sign I should hopefully redeem the lackluster ones yesterday. Rubio's didn't disappoint! Love that the salsa bar can be ordered on the Ubereats app, so you don't miss out on your favorite meal accompaniments. I got the coastal trio to try mahi mahi for the first time, and try the shrimp taco for the first time at Rubio's. All three tacos were delightful and would easily get for lunch or dinner again soon. We walked in at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night after checking the website to see they were open until 9:00 pm. The closing time on the door also stated they were open until 9:00 pm but the staff were all cleaning up, the restaurant smelled like cleaning products and the staff were not happy to see customers. They were extremely rude when we asked if they were still open. The guy behind the register said we could only do takeout. The taco trio is really good for the flavor and experience. I also tried the lobster taco. I think they are all unique with their own flavor. Unfortunately the taco trio is quite expensive for dinner. I think they are a bit small but mighty. I heard there are lunch specials where they are cost less. They come with two small containers with rice and beans. The rice is separate from the beans. I think the beans had a smoky flavor. At least to me they tasted different than what I am used to. The rice was okay as well. I will need to try something else next time as a side to see how those go. The lobster taco was delicious and buttery. I don't feel as though the lobster has a distinct flavor. The crispy fish was crispy but needed to be eaten fast before the coating got soft. The salsa verde shrimp taco didn't have much flavor beyond the salsa verde. It also has quite a bit of mayo. The mahi mahi didn't seem to have much flavor for me either. I came to this location based on a promo and needing lunch while traveling. Rubio's corporate hasn't responded to my contact forms for the last 2.5 months so I was wary of trying this again. My order wasn't exactly correct here today I asked for pico on the side and it looks like it was included inside the bowl and given on the side. I didn't think there was enough meat to the ratio of other ingredients. The worst was the lid to the bowl doesn't fit. When I went to get my lunch from the bag it had come out of the bowl (guac and tomatoes pictured) and I had to scoop it up back into the bowl. I confirmed the lid was the issue. I understand environmentally friendly bowls but that lid did not stay securely on. I'm highly disappointed in this aspect of the product. This is a huge miss. read more

This is a really nice Rubio's where I sat in their outside patio with a nice park, lake, duck view. I had a chicken taco recommended by shift leader Ryan which was great. I always come here for lunch with my bf when we want to get a quick bite to eat. Every now and then they'll have specials which is somehow cheaper than just ordering tacos alone. Once you order, they'll give you a number and deliver right to your table. I always get the fish tacos and they usually fill me up (3 tacos). If you get the combo, the plate comes with chips and beans. If you're not a chips and bean kind of dipper, you can head to the salsa bar where they have plenty of choices. I enjoy the tomato basil salsa! The burritos are huge and full of protein. I will want to try the nachos sometime. The outside patio is nice during the fall and spring. Parking is a bit tight. The plaza has other stores which can get full when its busy. If not, there is more parking in the back. read more

I eat at Rubio's fairly often, because I enjoy their food and fast service. They have great menu options and their fish tacos are their specialty (though they do everything else quite well). I usually get grilled salmon and gourmet steak tacos but will get lobster tacos when they're available. I've frequented this location and have generally been met with friendly, customer service. They have inside and outside dining - and online/phone/app ordering. I highly recommend their app, to enjoy their occasional offers. read more

What a lovely experience! I hadn't been to a Rubio's in I-don't-know-how-long, but our friend chose the restaurant and off we went. Placing our order was a breeze. After finding a table, we filled our beverages and, to my surprise, they have a salsa bar. It was very clean and well-stocked. I was in Heaven! I asked for larger cups and was graciously supplied with as many as I wanted (6). I got onions and cilantro, mild, green and chipotle salsas. Oh, and don't forget the lime wedges. I was ready for my meal. They delivered our food to our table. WHAT?!?!?!?! NO ONE does that anymore. It was a wonderful touch making me feel like they appreciated we chose their restaurant for dinner. My fish taco platter was SO good. I added the green salsa, onions and cilantro, and lime juice to EVERYTHING! Dipped my chips in the refried beans and mild salsa. I drove out of my way to go to Rubios for the 99 cent fish tacos. I've been a loyal Rubios customer going back many years after living in San Diego, CA for 20 years. As I approached the Rubios, at 7:30 pm on Sat 1/25, there were signs up on the front of the entrance door stating no more fish tacos. I am disappointed and baffled that there were no exceptions being made to the special promotion in which I understand that food items do run out, but when I approached the employee to place an order I asked about the fish taco special and if there were any substitutions available in light of the situation, she was very nasty and rude in her remarks and said no that's not how it works. I walked out and will not be returning again. I would have bought other items as well but after the way the employee spoke to me and treated me with no other options to honor the 99 cent special, I won't continue giving my business to Rubios going forward. The disrespect and way I was treated all while due to the shortage of fish tacos, it doesn't make sense that there were no other options for potential customers to have at the 99 cent special promotion.
