*Review based on a visit from June 2025* I'm typically a fan of Someburros but I feel that recently the quality of their food has been a little off. Maybe it's all the recent rapid expansion of restaurants all throughout the valley which has led to inconsistencies in their products. I had a veggie burro and also ordered the kids quesadilla meal. I normally order this with a whole wheat tortilla and I've been able to get it at the Tempe location. Unfortunately, they said they did not offer wheat tortilla here so no biggie, I said to use their normal tortilla. While the veggie burro was a decent size, the veggie burro seemed to consist of 90% pinto beans and 10% avocado. Where were the rest of the veggies and cheese? The pico de gallo it was served with had an old look to it and tasted weird to me. I tried some of the kid's rice in her meal and it had a weird aftertaste as well. The quesadilla was folded and super greasy. Service was very friendly and I had no problem getting a to go box. I also appreciate that they use metal utensils, ceramic plates, and the to go boxes have an aluminium container base. Gotta love a place that reduces the amount of plastic thrown away. Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and enjoyed it! We did the $2 taco Tuesday deal and got the crispy tacos with shredded beef (highly recommend)! I also tried the ground beef ones but didn't like those as much. We sat inside. It was clean and service was good. I got a churro for dessert and it was okay. This was my first time trying Someburros, and I visited during my birthday week after receiving a $10 voucher in the app (such a nice perk!). I ordered the Carne Asada Burro--while it was good, it was a bit smaller than I expected, especially when comparing it to similar burritos at places like Café Rio or Nando's. Flavor-wise, it was decent, but not something I'd crave again. I'd probably try a different item next time. I was hoping it would automatically come with a scoop of refried beans. That said, the experience overall was pleasant. The restaurant was clean, there was plenty of seating, and there's even a drive-thru for convenience. Overall this was a good option on a holiday when everything else was closed. We liked the crispy tacos and hot sauce. The steak burrito was ok but wouldn't get again. In a pinch this is definitely a step above a fast food chain like McDonald's or Taco Bell. Not joining my list of favorite Mexican food in the valley but would go again. If you are a native of the Valley like me, then you grew up eating at Poncho's Mexican Food. I remember fighting with my siblings over that basket of sopapillas. The Vasquez family (longtime owners of Poncho's) opened the first Someburro's in 1986. We have several of these family-owned, fast-casual restaurants all over the Valley. They specifically cater to young families on a budget. I frequent Someburros quite often because I love their hot sauce. I put it on everything and usually get a pint of it to go whenever I stop in. Someburro's menu consists of traditional Mexican food made from family recipes from Sonora, Mexico. Their signature Pollo Fundido is my personal favorite. Another favorite of mine is the Albondigas Soup that is served in the Fall. In addition to food, they have horchata, alcohol and churros. They keep a calendar on the wall that highlights food specials and Valley events. Taco Tuesdays, Cinco de Mayo and ASU football games are big celebration days at Someburros with special discounts on selected items. If you are hosting a big party, Someburro's caters large platters of party-sized portions of their popular items. They also serve breakfast. This was my first visit to this location in Mesa off the North 202 freeway. I met a friend here and we had a nice dinner together. It is a nice, clean restaurant and has a drive-thru. If you want good Mexican food made quick, Someburros is always an easy choice. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. For six months we loved it and were there twice a week. The past month has been one sad experience after another. Repeatedly, the food comes out warm, not hot. They used to use oven mitts and warn that the plates were hot. Now the plates are cold and food is just warm. No one checks on tables anymore. We decided to order to go so we could heat it ourselves at home and they forgot our tacos on our order. Tonight, the young woman at the front clearly hadn't had any food handling training and put her fingers... four full fingers... inside a cup to hand it to a customer. Gross! This place used to be our favorite, but we're giving up. Too many disappointing meals. read more

Gone downhill! Walked in to this location to every single table dirty that didn't have customers. Lila at the counter seemed upset being there, wasn't friendly, and was rude when I asked her to wipe down a table for us (as I'm holding my tray of chips and drinks, waiting). Then the manager, Shawna, instead of apologizing and offering to help, gets defensive when I asked her why Lila is working the front when she is clearly upset with the customers. The girl who brought our food was also very grumpy and rude to every table she delivered food to. Seems to be a staff made up of pissed off entitled girls who don't want to be there, giving no respect or courtesy to the establishment they work in or their customers. I used to like this location. Some Burros has the best breakfast burritos! I got the machaca beef, egg, and potato burrito-packed with flavor and super satisfying. The hot sauce has the right amount of spice, with a kick. The 20oz cold brew with horchata was so good, I didn't even need to add any sugar or syrup. read more

Ordered a 6 dollar side of guacamole and literally just received crushed avocado. We've had this before and it was good and there was a bunch of stuff in it. I'm not sure how a restaurant forgets to make the guac and just serves avocado but if this is how they make it now stay far away. It is horrible. read more

I have eaten here often and it was fine...until tonight. I typically order from the app and just pick it up but I ordered in the store. As I'm waiting for my food, a couple of teenagers came in to visit their friends that obviously work there. They all came out of the kitchen and were high-fiving and hanging with their friends....while I'm waiting for my food. They then went back in the kitchen and proceeded to make food without washing their hands. I can't eat the food that I just paid for and tipped heavily on. Yuck. Will not be going back ever again. This location really sucks. Service and accuracy very lacking. Not at all like the other Someburros. The manager is the problem - it trickles down. The server Jay accused me of stealing lemonade when I paid for a large drink. She went and got the manager to confront me. Then they got the order completely wrong and refused to replace it unless I drove 10 miles one way back then and there. I guess to prove I wasn't trying to steal their food too. So I drove back to replace the order and there was zero apology or any sign of recognizing the aggravation they caused making me drive 20 miles out of my way just so they could get their act together. Total nightmare. Avoid this location unless you enjoy being treated like a liar and a thief. read more

Our first time here. We got take out to bring to a nearby brewery. The taco salad was very good. Really fresh and the meat was seasoned well. A suggestion would be to get the sour cream and guacamole on the side unless you like it just on a qtr of the salad. The other salad with carne asada hit the mark too. Someone at Someburros messed up. For the past year you have been selling several different types of refillable cups. Your employees sold them that way. On Thursday July 31 we were told that these cups are not refillable. The cups were twice the price of the refillable cup and held the same amount of soda. i like Someburros but you need to correct this. You are based in Phoenix, Arizona not some east coast or midwest city that doesn't have good options for Mexican food. I can find five other places within a half mile off this location. read more

I order the Rod Burro from the Los Especiales, not exactly what I was expecting, the flour tortilla was too thick, the burrito was runny, not enough meat, no flavor whatsoever. I have been going to Someburros since they opened up their original location in Tempe. I am happy to see them branching out to other areas of the valley. My go to order are the mini chimis. You cannot go wrong with the crispy chimis filled with delicious green chilli beef. Another great thing is that they serve margaritas to go. Great way to start the weekend with take out. read more

Giving this location two stars not Someburros as a whole. This location fails to provide hot sauce with our orders (specifically delivery) every single time. It's frustrating bc Someburros hot sauce is SO complimentary to their food (honestly what I look forward to about getting it), so when I spend $30+ on food regardless of whether I got delivered or not I feel like I should get the same service because I've never had issues with receiving hot sauce with my order when I pick up/order in store, I even get Someburros delivered at work and that location manages to provide it every time. 2 stars is also for the food we received tonight, everything we had that was fried (mini chimi's for example) tasted incredibly off, like the fryer oil needed to be changed or something. I recently came here and after drinking a couple sips of the horchata, my stomach immediately started hurting... I got food poisoning and had extreme stomach pain and horrible diarrhea for two days. Wow. We order a ground beef no potato taco. They are out of ground beef no potato. They knowingly give you the wrong meat in your taco and don't tell you. But when you take it back they tell you they are out of what you ordered. To make up for it they gave us a tostada. I tried Someburros multiple times already. The first time was around the second day they were open. My husband and I ordered the Borracho Burro, which is basically a large burrito with green chili beef and cheese on top with some green sauce, guacamole and sour cream. We also ordered a side of rice. After ordering online and when my husband got there to pick up the order, the line of cars was almost out to the Main Street! He still got the order fast enough. The burros were very good but were very spicy for our taste. Also, while they have many options to customize the burro, removing the cheese was not one of them so I ended up eating cheese which I'm not a big fan of. This week, we've already ordered breakfast from Someburros twice and their breakfast has now become one of our favorites. We ordered the egg, onion, potato breakfast burro. They serve it with a spicy salsa on the side which compliments it really well. It's also cheap and filling, we are definitely coming back for it. Overall, a good option close to home.
