So dissappointed in the wait and total screw up on my order. I ordered a simple chicken bowl, drove home 20 mins and realized they had put SHRIMP (which I am allergic to) on the bowl. Called the manager and asked them to send a correct order, but oh NO. They cant be bothered to fix their mistake, no delivery available. I called the store but a corporate style recording said to go on line to order or anything else. Button 3 for "customer service". Looped back to the same message to go online. Pressed 3 again and the store answered. So the message is they do not want to take your order or call. Person answering was rushed. About hung up on me. Note I first tried to order online and my zip code found a store an hour away and the map zoomed in on Mexico and did not list my store. 1 star for terrible service until I hear from them. Well, I eat at Rubio's at least once a week. I guess it's because It's amazing, healthy and fresh!

In general I like most of the Rubio's locations. This location though always seems to have some sort of mess up on my order. I ordered the classic shrimp burrito lunch special no salsa fresca, a fish taco no salsa fresca and a beef taco normal to go. I get my order before I'm even done putting salsa in my to-go cups (should have been my first clue) and there is salsa fresca in my burrito and on my fish taco. There is no salsa fresca on the beef taco. Completely backwards, whatever I go ahead and remove the salsa fresca and go ahead to try and eat my SHRIMP burrito.... There's literally four shrimp and a bunch of beans and rice and then the salsa fresca that I didn't ask for. My fish taco was soggy and fell apart on the first pickup as if it had been sitting there for a half hour and cold. I don't understand why this one Rubio's always seems to mess up an order. I believe I have finally learned my lesson and I'm going to stay away from this particular Rubio's. Every other one seems to manage to serve hot food, non-soggy tacos and non stale chips. I do not understand what management is doing or allowing their employees to do to allow this to happen when you buy a $20 worth of food and there might have been $4 worth of food there. Delicious! The food here is soo good. I love their taco Tuesday's and their bowls. You must try their original fish taco, their shrimp taco, and any of the salad/bowls with tilapia fish. Super tasty. Used to be good - what happened? Have had mistakes on the last few takeout orders. Saturday 8/31/19 night's order included 2 Chipotle Orange Salads. NO mandarin oranges on either salad. super spicy, and the hard as bricks sticks they call tortilla strips almost broke a tooth. We had to remove them all. I don't come to Rubios regularly, my mom and sister come more than I do but the times that I have come it's always been delicious. I came in today to pick up dinner for my sister who just had my nephew yesterday and is still in the hospital. One good thing that I like is that I was able to call my order in and it was ready when I arrived about 5-10 minutes after I called. Another thing that was beneficial is that it is about a mile or two from the hospital so it isn't out of the way to do a food run. It seemed today that the manager was running the cashier. He was very upbeat and friendly but he was just a little too enthusiastic for me. Felt like he was yelling when he was speaking. I ordered the two fish taco combo. It comes with chips and beans. I also ordered a side of rice. When I went to get salsa to go there were only caps and no containers. The manager was taking someone else's order and a woman named Cassie came out from the kitchen. I asked her if I could get some containers for salsa she did not smile or make me feel welcomed. It felt as if I was an inconvenience to her. A very nice customer was standing next to me and I made the comment that she didn't seem very happy to be at work. The customer standing with me agreed and said she comes very often and always recognizes the employees but today she said the staff didn't seem the same and she didn't recognize anyone. When I dropped the food off to my sister she said they did not give her chips and everything was cold. I already hardly come but I think it's safe to say I wouldn't come back by choice. read more

Great place for amazing food at such a great price! The California bowls are to die for! It's definitely worth experimenting with their menu regardless. If you're into Taco Tuesday, they serve fish tacos at $1.50 here each ($3 at every other day). They're just amazing, and I highly recommend going for them if you're a newcomer to this franchise. The atmosphere here is nice. They have shades to reduce the light coming in from the sun and the lighting from the building itself is pleasing to the eyes as well. It feels really chill here, and doesn't feel too condensed or empty at all. They've recently added a larger table, which is a great addition for those coming in at large groups for gatherings or special occasions. The patrons are very nice here and really polite. I love Rubios food. however, this location has TERRIBLE customer service. I have not based this review soley on one visit. I have been to this rubios (off Oceanside Blvd) 3 times in the last month. Each time, my order was made wrong and I had to wait an extra 25 minutes for my food! Believe it or not, this happened 3 consecutive times. There were also other customers who received their order wrong as well. It surprises me that in this depression this chain has not gone south. Their attempts at augmenting the menu beyond fish tacos has always yielded pathetic results. The regular fish tacos have simply become mushy messes, with the condiments (for especials) applied sparingly. I have always been annoyed by the combo "plates;" the mere addition of tortilla chips and a ridiculously small portion of beans...the two taco "plate" currently stands at $5.99 plus tax (ouch!). Simply NOT a good value. Apparently, the best strategy to save and feel satisfied is to arrive after 2:30 on Tuesdays, when you can get fish tacos for $1.50 each...one could order FOUR fish tacos for the same price as that pitiful two taco plate. As you peruse the menu, you quickly realize that you could actually be genteely "served" a better meal at a decent Mexican restaurant for roughly the same amount of money...Bottom Line: Rubio's quality has diminished, while getting very expensive! read more

Always great food. Absolutely horrible service. Ordered our food to go with omissions. (no salsa/pico, no guacamole or beans for the girlfriend) They show you the food to review but the burritos obviously aren't deconstructed in front of you. When we opened our food at home we found it had all the items we requested be withheld. When we called to inform the staff of the error, they did not apologize. They did offer to remake the food but it would take "quite a while" for them to remake it because "we are busy". Living ten minutes away and not having our order remade promptly we decided to not take them up on their offer. This is not the first time my order has been made incorrectly. I have been enjoying Rubio's for many years and have never been disappointed by the food or service. I'm a fan of the grilled chicken burrito and the classic fish taco. There was one occasion where I had a coupon for 1 free fish taco, but I failed to recognize it was expired. However, the guy taking my order pointed it out to me and said "no worries", he let me use it anyway. That kind of service is unheard of with food chains. My favorite part, the salsa bar! This Rubio's was the high school hangout, we flocked here for tacos like they were going out of style back in the day! The freshness of the food has not changed since those days and I've enjoyed seeing how the menu has adapted many new options! (Churros, when did they get churros? Have they always had churros?!) While I can't remember what my thoughts on the service were all those 6 years ago, I can sure comment on it now! The staff could be friendlier, perhaps welcoming us with warmer greetings and seeming more enthused by our order (am I asking for too much because I for one am stoked about the Original Fish Tacos on flour tortillas that I am ordering!) The service time itself wasn't the quickest and it wasn't exactly crowded with several other people waiting for their food. If this, however, is the cost for such tasty food then so be it: the food is SO fresh! The seating and floor layout have been altered since my last visit and I'm thinking the newness allows for a higher occupancy while not letting people feel elbow to elbow with their neighbors at another table! Disappointed in this Rubio' s (4201 Oceanside Blvd.)! Yesterday (11-13-18, 6:30 pm) I ordered 3 fish tacos and they were very poor! I should have known something was up when the girl did not open the box to let me see my order. That is usually normal for the servers to do. When I got home and opened the box, here was 3 pitiful looking fish tacos. They all had a small piece of fish, 5 or 6 pieces of cabbage, and a couple of drops of white sauce. No mild salsa was in them. No limes either! Bad; just badly made! They must of hired new kitchen help that had very little training. I have been going to Rubio's for years and this was the worst fish tacos I ever had. The girl bagging must have known too. That is why she just quickly put the box in the bag. This was my first time here. I like the crispness of the fish as you bite into the fish taco; the tortilla was a little thick for my taste and the sauces were too runny. But for something that you want on the go, it's pretty decent and will sustain you. The shrimp burrito was good, but of course, very sparing in how much shrimp was actually in there. read more

(Love the fish tacos) This is the closest one to my home, but after getting my order wrong multiple times and hearing a cashier named Justin tell his fellow cashier while I was getting salsa that "I should have just accepted that I was on my phone left my order as it was" (I switched out the pinto because my grandma can't digest it well) I'll go ahead and take the extra time to drive to another farther Rubio's(there's one a few minutes away on Hacienda manager Buddy is great! ) for my taco fix. Rubios is probably my favorite local restaurant at this time. Its my go to. I love Mexican food, but a lot of the taco shops serve fatty food cooked in that lard. I'm trying to eat healthy, I workout and my job is an active one. So I get the Mexican food that I love, but healthy. And I love seafood. But I will say that their gourmet steak tacos are bomb. Plus I like the salads and bowls that they have. And I like having a beer or sangria sometimes. They also have really rad lemonade (2 kinds) and Vitamin water on tap. And of course their Taco Tuesday can't be beat..... price or taste wise. But expect that day to be busy cause it almost always is but its worth it. I like this Rubios better than the other ones and this one is the closest to my house. I would have to say that I go in for dinner almost every time, not too much on lunch. The staff is always friendly and the cooks do a really good job every time. I've never had any issues. Desire is my favorite though. She's a very upbeat person, and always gives me great customer service with a smile. I'm really glad the best Rubios restaurant is in Oceanside close to my house. Hope my review helps. read more
