My wife and I go to Rubio's 2-3 times a month. I try to order something new and this visit I saw a pic on the wall of mahi mahi tacos. Looked delicious with the corn garnish. It was a to go order and guess what? Got home...no roasted corn garnish. It's not the end of the world but this is the second time I ordered a entree that advertised roasted corn and received none. Went there several times on occasion and came to conclude that the staff is very rude or better yet, unprofessional. I was eating there about one hour before close, and they had started to clean out the jars and tables, and even started playing their rap crap in the back kitchen at really high volume. I had visit Rubios before but I had hidden my ignorance by ordering the basic fish taco. What a culinary eye opener! This time i intended to explore a little further . I asked the order-taker what was most popular and orded the Pacific Mahi Mahi 2 taco Plate with a small drink (small or large they are both bottomless??). I asked about the self serve salsa bar around the corner and was told to help myself. I tried them all and found the smoky flavours the best. Rubios used to be the best longastino burrito and its big can not even finish it but today I had a longastino burrito you can just count the longastino they put inside and small burrito now did not even satisfy my craving for this dish. So I called in a order to avoid line after a lomg shift i just wanted to get home. So I go in and the Cashier working was Caytlin (i made sure to get her name was not happy at all with her attitude) first as i walk in i said hi to be polite and i got no acknowledgement what so ever then took along time on the phone "taking an order" was laughing pretty hard so didnt seem so much like an order. And goes to charge me and i gave her cash with cents and wanted to pay the rest on card, she chooses not to use the cents and made things 10x harder for probably being too lazy to put in the exact amount i gave her was there for 20 MINITES JUST WAITING TO GET CHARGED THE RIGHT AMOUNT... And i wasnt even givwn my drink i purchased. I guess making that call in order was a waste i spend more time there TRYING TO PAY rather than actually getting my food. Food was alright i guess, was already cold by the time i got charged. Customer service just isn't theyre strong suit. Not really sure I'd come back. read more

I got the chicken tacos combo plate and although the tacos were good I was expecting more of a combo plate then the small portion of beans and chips But the customer service was great greeted as soon as I came in the door and they helped us know the differences between the salsas rather than having to individually sample each one. read more

I've been going to this Rubio's for the past three years, their food is amazing and fresh, alsoI have never felt so welcomed and appreciated by any other business than I do when I come here. I love all of the staff but two people that stand out our Carlos and Veronica. They are always so friendly to not just me but everybody that walks through that door. I was compelled to write this today because as I was standing in line during a busy lunch hour Carlos offered to take my order on the back computer because I get the same thing each time and he knew it would be fast. Well once this young woman standing next to me, we will call her "Karen" noticed That Carlos helped me before her she very rudely went up to him and asked him for his name and proceeded to make him feel horrible. The woman's order was literally taken seconds after mine all she had to do was be a little patient and kind. I won't even get into the fact that everybody in the restaurant was masked but Karen!I I recommend anybody to go to Rubio's and say hello to Carlos and Veronica and thank them for being so amazing because I do practically every day. read more

This used to be an amazing restaurant, but their new staff seems very incompetent and if morant. I did an online order and walked in to the counter that says "online order pick up" stood there for a good 5-7 minutes without anyone addressing me. The cashier or waitress Nicole seemed frazzled and kept tripping over herself. It wasn't even that busy, really. This other older lady walked out and started asking people if they'd been helped and still ignored me. Going on ten minutes now. Then she points to an order and asks what is this. The blonde (nicole) I think says that's a mobile order for "so-n-so" (aka me), and I said that would be me. She said oh you should have said something. Excuse me? I walking into your reataraunt and you dont even acknowledge me at all for TEN MINUTES and have the audacity to say I should have said something. U fortunately this location is off limits for me and my husband now. No thanks. Two stars for good food, always! read more

I was just in there not even ten minutes ago. The cashier girl with dark hair was very nice and we talked for a while. I ordered a California bowl with shrimp, no beans, verde sauce. What I got was beans and red sauce, the exact opposite of what I ordered. I was the only person in the entire restaurant. I have no idea how they messed it up. I am sad about this because this now the closest Rubio's to my house and not sure if I will be back. I have a number of allergies and I'm afraid I will get screwed over next time. Bummer. Now today we walked in and I was blown away by the counter girl Lucero, who not only knew our order from waiting on us in the past (ALOT) she also remembered my name!!! Rubios!! I hate to write this review but my experience tonight was less than par. It wasn't very busy and I ordered to go. The wait was pretty long for it not being busy. I was patient. However, my husband and I were very disappointed with the food we received. It was what we ordered. But we discussed we probably won't go back there. He ordered fish tacos and the meat was dark and strange. And he also got a Baja beef burrito (which is 8 dollars mind you) and he ordered it all meat. It was the smallest burrito we have ever seen. And the meat was overly salty and strange as well. It was smaller than his fish taco, for 8 bucks!? We spent $27 and we felt we could have gotten a lot more food for way better quality else where. We used to love Rubios but we are sad to say the quality has changed and we probably won't go back :( read more

This is the go to place for fish tacos. It's basically fast food without the drive through. But the fish tacos are pretty great. It's the perfect place when you just need your taco fix but don't want to go to a restaurant and wait around for too long. You order at the counter and they bring your meal out to your table. Service is always pretty fair here. The food is pretty much always tasty, they have many options on the menu. There is a salsa bar you can help yourself to. I know there are plenty of places with better quality food and service, but this place is just great for a quick bite. read more

Rubios has come a long way in terms of quality and flavor, however, prices have also risen substantially. I ordered the new "Surf and Turf" burrito, containing carne asada steak bits and langostino "Lobster." Service was quick, the burrito is flavorful, not loaded down with excessive fillers and sauces. Ample meat in every bite. Steak is tender, langostino is sweet and juicy. The downside is, it is very small, about half the size of any burrito you get at a standard Mexican joint, and it's 10 bucks. Tastes good, but I was expecting more than a kid-sized burrito and a small handful of chips for that price. Langostino is not expensive, but I guess they get away with excessive pricing by calling it "Lobster." read more

Went to this location last night at 7pm. There was a line of 5 people with a person at the register that was new or appeared new and couldn't ring an order fast and efficiently It took me 15 minutes to just get up to place my order and at that point they had switched cashiers but still only 1 with a long line of people. I then had to wait 25 minutes for my food, no special order or anything. When I finally got home and opened the box I had some small crumbs for chips! It definitely was the bottom of the bag. This location used to have good service and decent food but I will go to Carlsbad/El Camino Real location by the mall if I want Rubio's again! Hey Ralph what happened to the quality and service????? I tried to be cool about it and call and for warm the manager of the situation and she said there's nothing she could do about it personally and will forward my number to corporate. I've been to Rubio's a dozen times, and I would probably say each experience has been ok, until today. I was amazed at my experience here, especially with one of the managers (?), Susie. Talk about GREAT service. She was everywhere... she took my order, she came by and checked on diners, took their dishes, wiped down empty tables, kept the salsa bar fully stocked.. She was everywhere all the time, made sure everyone was catered to. LOVE that, unheard of in the fast food business. My fish burrito tasted great, but the great service made it taste even better. We have been patronizing this Rubio's for many years. Sadly I feel the need to write this review because the service and food were subpar. We went in at 6:30 in the Evening in Wednesday. They had 5 people in the back cooking area and the manager. Only 1 person who was taking phone orders and helping all the customers. I had to wait 5 minutes for the person who was taking a phone order so I could place mine. I noticed the manager leave the counter area, which let the only person upfront taking orders serving food. After waiting 20 minutes, I stood up and noticed only 2 people in the back area and saw an order on the counter. I then asked if my ordewas ready. Yes it was the one sitting up on the counter getting cold. If that wasn't bad enough when I placed my order I was told they were OUT of guacamole. I was asked if it could be substituted with sliced avocado. I got a baby piece of avocado on one and two pieces on another. No reason for a Mexican restaurant to Ever run out of guacamole. Don't think I will be back It has been two weeks and no one has contacted me nor cares about my experience. They wrote for me to use the link and I did. Most Rubios are at best decent. But this place sucks. The portions are small, and the salsa bar sucks. Our food was cold! Tortillas even did not taste very good. Overpriced too. Baja Fresh is the bomb, but too bad they closed because of their crappy location nearby. Rubio's keeps getting more expensive but providing less amount for the sides for the plates. I did not get a "side" of beans, I got a condiment cup of beans, maybe three times the size of the containers they have at the salsa bar. Totally ridiculous! Plus, ordered mahi mahi, salmon and additional fish tacos in addition to the original fish taco plate. The cashier didn't ask me if I wanted regular, fried or blackened for the ones I had a choice for, which is sooooo annoying since I hate pointing out that I would like to make a choice. Ugh. Please focus on hiring or training your employees to give a s**t about what the customer wants! I had to wait 15 minutes for my to go order which seems a little excessive. Sesame soy, ginger, salmon... these are some of the new flavors at Rubios. They have plates and cutlery now. Obviously it's been a while since I had visited previously. The fish tacos seemed to be crunchier, but more crunch than fish. Maybe because there was no sauce on it as I remember the last time I ate here about a year ago. The beef tacos were flavorful and the combo included stale chips and a little retried beans. Better combos available at some of the many Mexican restaurants in the area. Ordered 3 chicken tacos for `$13.00. Hardly any customers. Took 10 minutes to prep. Lettuce was old. Chicken was overcooked and hard. Tacos were cold. Three people in the kitchen couldn't get a taco right. Observed one of workers place a cleaning bucket on a food tray. Advised him of this and he dubiously stated the bucket is sanitized. I saw same bucket earlier on the floor! I had visited this location in the past - 6 months ago - and will never return due to terribly prepared food. Also, phones Rubio's HQ in Carlsbad, CA to complain. Waited over 12 minutes, for someone t eventually take my complaint. Will never eat at this particular Rubio's location given the unhygienic attitude of that one worker. read more
