So I went to the Rubios on McDowell and the service was horrible. I did my Yelp review and the company reached out with an attempt to make it right. I was not going back to the McDowell location while much closer. I decided to come to this location on Indian School and will say customer service is way better. Frustration at the register I have a Rubios gift card from my birthday that I used at the McDowell location originally $30 card had $5 and change left. It was from Prezzee but it only has a number & pin. The gentleman at register was not familiar with it and didn't know how to enter it. He had to get manager and she clicked something that was to let me enter it. Long number punched it in says not supported but card was used at the McDowell location with no problem other than it had to be punched in. My issue is that it is 2026 and that is just crazy that these are the digital gift cards between Prezzee and Rubios. They should have a scan capability. The manager did attempt to make the experience right which is why I'm doing 2 stars. Nerada manager kind and not really her issue, complaint due to the technology of the digital gift cards. But the 1st McDowell experience and then coming here & the gift card fiasco just set the tone. I apologize if spelled the managers name wrong but I'm good. 2 not so good experiences I have made decision it just isn't worth the frustration. The food is decent but I'm very cool on Rubios there is that experience that just says yeah no. Never again. Here is my only suggestion for your customers that do come in you need to have trash bins at both exiting and entering doors. When sitting in front of restaurant you have to go to back door off patio to throw away trash. Not good. read more

I will always be a Rubio's Stan, I looove their food and always have to remind myself that it's a super casual fast order place. It's such a great deal, especially with the salsa bar, in which all the salsas are quite tasty and the lime is a nice touch. The pickled veggies are too spicy for me though. My all time favorite is the Mexican street corn bowl with the blackened mahi mahi. I've tried other things and I will always stick to this bowl because it's just the best. The guac is creamy and the cotija cheese offers great tang, the corn and beans pair so well with the chipotle lime crema (my fave sauce ever) with the tajin, which offers some spice. Such great depth of flavor. I tried the Rainbow bowl and the sweet potato was definitely the best part of the bowl but the flavor depth didn't hit as hard. Our office ordered catering from here one Tuesday for lunch. We ordered a large spread for a taco bar. Everything from lettuce, beans, multiple kinds of meat - chicken, steak, and beef, to all the toppings you can think of were ordered. When the food arrived, I couldn't find any flour tortillas, so I decided to go the salad bowl route. I topped a bed of lettuce with chicken, some steak, beans, pico de Gallo, and some white rice with tortilla chips on the side. I appreciated that the bed of lettuce wasn't solely lettuce, but had cabbage slivers and carrots mixed in too. Unfortunately, the meat - chicken and steak - were a little dry and could've had a lot more seasoning on it. Also, the chips were hard and had no flavor, seasoning at all. I've been coming here regularly for the last year since I manage across the street. Everytime I'm here the food is great, the workers are like family and my food always comes timely. They have a very pretty patio that is perfect for relaxing on my lunch breaks. I would highly recommend this location and Tiara is exceptional! Cashier was awesome friendly and accommodating. Table tops were sticky and the windows looked foggy. Salsa bar was completely neglected. Food was delicious but took about 20-25min. I blame upper management for being understaffed 2 people working at 7pm. I got a new burrito today that I don't normally get and it was not as good as the old school Bean and Cheese burrito, but I won't hold it against them because that B&C burrito has a hold on me. The kids meals are legit and I think they're decently priced at like $6.50ish each with two sides and a drink. I mean, what place offers churros with their kids meal as a side option? The quesadilla is basically a cheese burrito and they don't MESS with the amount of cheese in that thing. Other bonuses: 1. The beans are the best in town. They put pepper in them and for whatever reason, they are infinitely better than anywhere else. 2. The salsa bar is unlimited and self-serve. It's so good and there are like 6 different salsa, pickled veggies, limes, lemons, onions and cilantro... it's just good. 3. Fountain drinks are Coke products and that wins every time. Vitamin water as an option? My kid was stoked. 4. Chips come with most adult entrees and you don't have to pay extra. The lady who took our order just glared in silence and I had to repeat my order twice. The place itself is old and the tables are sticky. The food - ugh the food - so much disappointment. The salsas are mostly sweet - do they add sugar? Yuck. 2 of the 7 shrimp in my Argentinian Red Shrimp bowl were very mealy. The guacamole was brown. I ordered a California Chicken bowl through UberEats this evening from this location. I normally like this bowl, however they completely forgot the rice and gave me double black beans instead. It tasted like black bean soup and was so unappetizing. I couldn't taste anything else in the bowl besides the beans. They also really lacked on the amount of chicken. Is it going to win awards? No, but sometimes you just want what you know is always good. As stated, the fish tacos are a staple and favorite of mine, but I also love the beer battered fish burrito. I usually top it with their hot chipotle salsa, and the burritos are served with a small side of chips. Where's the Shrimp!??!! I haven't been to this location since I moved from Phoenix to Chandler 10 years ago. You can barely see the shrimp in this taco! They covered them up with a bunch of sauce so you wouldn't notice it. They are smaller than a quarter. Quality has really gone down with Rubios IMO. I've been eating at various Rubios restaurants around the valley for past 20+ years. This would be the worst experience to date. I used 2 wipes on my table and you'll see what came off of them in the photo (2nd wipe pictured after wiping once already). The young man at the counter was very friendly however, he did nothing else when he wasn't taking orders. While I was here there was at most 4 other people in the restaurant on a Sunday at 1:30pm. Other tables had crumbs and spilled salsa on them, yet no one came out and wiped them clean (or what you think is clean). Had the Ancho Shrimp Burrito today with chips and drink for $8.99 which is not to bad. Little skimpy on the chips and the burrito was not bad. Could say it is white man's mexican food but not bad for fast food. The tortilla is not of the home made authentic soft type but it is a chain. The burrito looked better on the advertisement than in reality. Had a few shrimp but was expecting a few more. Hard not to compare to the more authentic mexican restaurants because we live in Arizona but maybe not fair. I'm usually a fan of Rubio's. I love the original fish taco, the California bowl, both shrimp burritos, and the grilled gourmet shrimp taco. I also enjoy their salsas and pinto beans. I placed a to go order last night. This Rubio's is the only location I've been to during the COVID era, and they've done a great job with to go orders and getting you in and out safely and quickly. I had a birthday deal - buy one get one free entree - so I got the classic shrimp burrito, California bowl, and a fish taco, with sides of pinto beans, chips, and salsas. Yum! When I got home and sat down to eat, I was a little disappointed. The burrito didn't seem to have the same quantity of shrimp or sauces as it normally does. Still tasty though. The California bowl, which I ordered with citrus rice, came instead with Mexican rice. Also, the bowl usually has a significant amount of lettuce, but my bowl only had one little piece of lettuce, which was unfortunate. The grilled mahi mahi in the bowl was great. This place is a vegetarian and/or vegan goldmine! For $5 I get the kids meal (sorry, can't handle the big portions of the regular entrée items) with a bean and cheese burrito but instead of cheese I do rice. For my sides I get more rice and beans, a small drink, and as much salsa as your heart desires. I don't think I can ask for a better lunch for that price. The staff is always so very kind and friendly. Each time I'm pleasantly reminded that there are good people in this world. They're genuine too - it's not fake or forced. Food is always great with good flavor here but the wait times are terrible. There have been multiple times where the wait time for food is at least twenty minutes and this is after standing in line for fifteen minutes. The air conditioning also runs on turbo here so you will be freezing in here. The attitude is also pretty aloof so don't expect staff to care about any issues present at this location. read more
