Horrible service on May 7th on the closing shift. The 2 servers decided to serve the couple ahead of us while we waited in line, only to hear them say they're closed when its our turn. Ofcourse, they decided to judge us for the color of our skin. Rude and never coming back again. Teach them customer service. This Rubio's served us hot foot that tasted amazing! And the employees were helpful and friendly. Our Rubio's in Seal Beach was permanently closed when we went there... so we drove all the way to Rubio's in Stanton and they did not disappoint!! We will definitely make the drive again. I love Rubio's. Growing up in Cypress I actually remember when they built this place, early 90's I believe. They sent a flyer to our house advertising a fish taco which I never heard of in my life. The very idea of it made me want to puke but knowing this would be a common reaction in pre-fish taco Orange County they said the first one would be free. Not wanting to pass up free I headed on down. It was a life changing moment. It was DELICIOUS! Now there's a fish taco on every corner but back then it was unheard of. I still think to this day it's one of the best fish tacos out there (best being Normita's in Huntington Beach). Since I count calories I LOVE their "California Bowl". For 700 calories you get a huge giant bowl of food that's flavor packed and very filling. It's filled with citrus infused rice, black beans, and lettuce. Next you pick a protein. I prefer the blackened tilapia but you can also get shrimp, mah mahi, or chicken. Then the whole thing is covered with fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, chipotle sauce, and salsa. The end result isn't pretty. It's like some sort of ridiculous culinary sauce bukakke but if you look past the gloppy mess it's one tasty bowl. All the flavors mix together well and you'll leave full. I really haven't had a bad item at Rubio's. I still love their original fried fish tacos but the grilled ones are great too. My only complaint would be they're really stingy on the shrimp when based off the price they charge. I tried their new organic chicken last week and really liked the dry rub they use on it. Their freshly made to order Churros are hard to pass up too. Beer, wine, and sangria is sold here. Make sure you sign up for the birthday club. Sorry to say this but this was the worst rubios I've ever been to. I ordered a quinoa bowl with battered fish. There was a lot of quinoa but little of everything else. It was a huge disappointment as I was looking forward to some other grilled vegetables. Instead they put in fresh lettuce, which was soggy by the time I ate it. Additionally, the batter to fish ratio was really bad. There was barely any fish... and so much fried batter. Then, there's the green salsa... The consistency was all wrong... it was like jello and less like salsa. On top of that, the cashier confirmed that the prices shown on the menu are less than they actually charge at the register. This place is always so clean, the staff here are super nice. My favorite thing from the menu is the shrimp taco trio. It's so delicious! You get to try 3 different style shrimp tacos! Their salsa bar is still closed, but don't worry they are really generous giving you the amount requested. I always stop by here when passing by since it is near my house. I hate making posts ONLY when I get something wrong :(. But i think it's important to hold them accountable. Had 2 kids chicken meals with fries and they both came with literally only 5 or 6 fries. The bag was 1/8th full. My kids were not happy without their fries. But in a way I'm glad I got them to eat something in substitution that was home made! Lol Other than that the rest of our to go meal was good. I wish they had a better selection of their salsas and maybe pictures and descriptions. So today was my first time going to Rubios and so I head there with a colleague. She orders her usual and I have to order for myself and a friend. I order the fish tacos and I order a mahi mahi and shrimp bowl for my friend. I ask for all the sauce on the side. While waiting (good that they cook the food fresh) I notice the lunch special is exactly what I ordered is $2 cheaper and includes a drink. I ask the cashier why they didn't inform me he goes oh well I ringed you up for the lunch price. I show him that he didn't and he asks well do you want your $1.50 back (after taxes) I say no but I do want my drink...he obliged. I'm annoyed but we leave with our food. We get to our location and my fish tacos were literally a piece of fish on a tortilla - none of the fixings. And my friends meal was made with chicken versus the mahi-mahi- so not only did they charge me more for less with the lunch special. They charged me for fish and gave me chicken. Let's say this places attention to detail is significantly lacking. Furthermore the food could have been great had I got what I ordered. I haven't gone to Rubio's in years and decided to grab a bite last minute. This Rubio's is clean and has a good layout of tables. You order and the staff gives you a # to take to your seat. The staff was very nice and courteous. Don't forget the $2 an entree Yelp check in! I got a veggie burrito and my boyfriend got the veggie enchiladas. It was a good portion and surprisingly tasty and very fresh! It wasn't too heavy and they have a salsa bar of 3 main salsas (roasted chipotle, mild tomato, and verde). Then on the side there are squeeze bottles of jalapeño cilantro salsa and diablo hot salsa. Lime and lemon wedges also available. Hate to do this, been coming to this Rubios for years and it's always stood out as a great location. So much so in fact that I wouldn't eat at another one because it wouldn't be as good. We'll times have changed and the food has dropped off a cliff here. Walked in at 12:30 for lunch and was the only one there. Ordered two fish tacos and they came out faster then normal. Took a bite and knew right away why my food came out so fast. Fish was cold, which is ironic as I stare at their "fresh rules" sign. Rule number 2 says " we never start your meal without you". They honestly make great food here, but when ordering by phone, the staff is often kinda rude, if they even pick up at all. I'm also trans, and they chuckled and asked me my name over and over again. I came here for Taco Tuesday last night! It's been forever since I've gone to Rubio's. I ordered two fish taco especials and my boyfriend got the lobster burrito. The fish tacos were large and delicious! I had a bite of the lobster burrito and thought it was delicious as well. The tacos aren't exactly cheap. It was $2 a taco... It used to be $1.50... but I guess it's better than paying over $3.50 a taco on regular days. I love their salsa bar. Four different types of salsa, lime, lemon, onion and cilantro mix, and picked pepper and carrot mix. We also got two Coronas. They're $1 off on Tuesdays after 2:35pm? I think. I get a lot more for less at those mom n pop shops that I feel taken at these Americanized Mexican food places. If I go, I just like a bean and cheese burrito or some fish tacos. All I gotta say is TACO TUESDAY for life!!!!!! So Rubios has amazing tacos hands down. No one can argue with that statement. On a typical day you would pay about 4 bucks for a fish taco and I think the shrimp tacos run a little bit more. And if you're like me and have a caveman appetite then you gotta get like 4 tacos to feed the beast. And that means you've got a big hole in your wallet after you leave. But!! Once a week on Tuesday, they have an amazing deal that won't cost ya an arm and a leg just for some tacos. Fish tacos are $150 each and the especial fish tacos (which feature guacamole added on top of the regular good stuff) are about $2 each. Now that is a good deal! And the quality is not compromised for this cheap price. The fish is so fresh and it is fried perfectly in the batter and is tossed in a corn tortilla with sauce. Ask for some pico de gallo to top it off and you will be in heaven! We ordered 10 fish tacos. And left feeling full and happy. read more

I just now had OUTSTANDING service by the woman at the cash register. I think it may have been the manager. My gift card was not going through- she tried 3 times, and she did not seem to get annoyed with me. There was a person behind me, and I finally said- it's okay, I'll just pa y for it, and I'll use the gift card some other time. She said, it's okay, I'll get your meal ordered, and I'll figure it out once I take care of the other customers. I tried to give her my ATM card too, and she said it's okay, go ahead and have a seat and we'll get your dinner to you. Our meal was brought to us, as well as our salsa request. She later came over, and let me know that the card went through, and what the remaining balance would be. She took care of everything, I did not have to stop eating to complete the purchase. I couldn't believe I was getting upscale restaurant service at a fast-food place. In addition, the Mahi Ahi Mango tacos were delicious along with my husbands chicken nachos. As far as fast food Mexican places, Rubio's and their nachos hold a special place in my heart (and stomach). For some reason I have ALWAYS loved their steak nachos and to the dismay of my bf crave them often! For the sake of my health (and skinny jeaaaans) I do not eat them as often as I'd like. :( But I am satisfied every time I do! Fish tacos on Taco Tuesday are a must! It's only $1.50 for one and it's crunchy and pretty big! I was really surprised that this place was VERY clean. The salsa bar had no sauce dripping everywhere and utensils and so on are ordered very nicely on the side. The seating arrangements are very nice as well. They have outdoor seating, two persons table, four persons table, and a bar like area for a party of 1. Everything seemed fresh when it was delivered to my table. The only problem I have with this place is their steak street tacos. It seemed really dry and didn't have that much flavor in it. Expected more from it to be honest.
