We ordered the daily special which consisted of pancit, chicken adobo and three pieces of lumpia. The pancit was all cut up in small pieces, not long strings of noodles. The chicken adobo tasted old and oversaturated with soy sauce. The lumpia was crispy but thin. Service was good but the food was very disappointing. I was highly disappointed in the meal I had in this restaurant. I ordered karekare and sisig with egg. total was about $42 with tip. I was not informed that there was no bagoong when ordering the karekare. When I went to complain the lady told me that there are signs saying there is no bagoong (the sign is as big as a table napkin) and that bagoong is band. The quantity of the food was average and the flavor was just not hitting. There was black hair in my rice and in the karekare. Also the none filipino lady working there had an attitude. I recommend you just take karekare off your menu. I will not come back. Waste of money. read more

We haven't been back here for at least 7 years now and decided to order some food to go when we visited. When we first tried this place, it was amazing! My husband is Filipino and this was one of his favorite places to eat at when we lived in Pensacola. This time around, the customer service was still pleasant and the lady on the phone was really nice. I asked a few questions and she answered them. We decided to get the following to go: Lumpia: 5/10 - they were really small and thin. It tasted decent but I wouldn't get this again. It came with some sweet sauce on the side. They skimped on the filling and it was disappointing. We've been to alot of Filipino restaurants and the lumpia is usually bigger, thicker, and plump with filling and this missed the mark. I will say that it was tasty though. Pork sisig: Husband's rating 7/10, mines 6/10 - one of my husband's favorite dishes. He loves how the bits of pork belly comes out on the sizzling plate and the flavors of the pork with the citrus (it's usually calamansi juice that seasons the pork). Be aware that this dish that does not come with rice, which is very odd to me. Most Filipino restaurants that we've been to, the sisig always came with rice. We paid like $18.99 (including an egg - which was an upcharge) for a small box of it with no rice. It was not worth that price at all. The taste itself didn't impress me as all I could taste was the calamansi juice. My husband loved it though so it comes down to personal taste and preference. Pancit - 7/10 - the noodles were good and the vegetables were cooked well, with a little bit of crispy. Pancit is usually made of thin noodles and veggies that are sautéed and you add calamansi juice on top. I thought the flavors were really good and the portion size was great! The size filled up the to-go box! Overall, I don't think I would come back here as the food's quality has declined since we've been here. The portion sizes (besides the pancit) was not worth the price. We paid $68 in total (including tip and delivery fee) and was expecting better and bigger portion sizes. The sisig needs rice too, as eating just the pork alone, can be a bit too much on the palette. The customer service was wonderful though. If you're looking for a Filipino food fix, this would probably work but there are other better places. read more

Food was good, it's more a la carte rather than entrees. We ordered the lumpia but I could tell off the bat that they were bought from a store and cooked, didn't at all look made in house. The other food was okay, sisig was good, pork adobo was missing the black peppercorn. I did ask for extra sauce to go with the kiwali, but I really didnt expect a tiny cup of mang tomas to be a whole dollar. Especially when you can go to any asian store and get the entire bottle for $3. Service was also okay, it wasn't busy at all but they didn't really check up on us till we were basically done. My friends and I went back to Ruby-Gin for lunch as we do this every year, we all love the Filipino dishes they served especially the dinuguan and lechon kawali, sarciadong pampano is good, kare-kare, I noticed the Pakbet is a little soupy this time. Came for a visit based on a recommendation for really good sigsig ! Coming from San Diego where there is a large filipino population, I love their food and finding a spot that takes me back to what I grew up eating was very exciting! Fair warning, you won't be stepping into a fine dinning establishment but nonetheless you will be greeted as we were. The staff offered my husband and I a table and brought out menus. We both already knew what we wanted to order but the waitress also gave a few recommendations. We went with pancet with thin noodles and chicken, spicy sigsig with a fried egg, pork adobo, an order of lumpia (give or take about 12 per order) and two sides of rice. Everything was good but two things stuck out for me. Pork adobo was a bit salty and would rate it a 3/5. And their Sigsig was good but lacked that lemon-y taste that I absolutely love about the dish and was very oily. Also a 3/5. The experience itself was nice but definitely could have been better. With that said, it is the closest to what I am used to eating back home and will definitely be returning. read more

Delicious Lumpia, I doctored the sweet and sour sauce with the spicy vinegar and fish sauce. We always come here when we're in Pensacola, FL. My boyfriend looks forward to eating all that is in their menu. He's a retired marine corpsman and is always starved for anything Filipino to eat. Masarap according to him. Lahat Masarap sa kanya. Service is quick. The servers are also very friendly and patient specially to those who are new to Pinoy cooking. The place is frequented by a diverse class of people. And different ethnicity. On Fridays and Saturdays they have Karaoke with some Filipinos dancing in their makeshift dance floor. Overall it was an okay experience. Our server in the beginning wasn't very friendly, but the other staff that would check on us was wonderful. As for the food, some was good, some was okay. The biggest disappointment was the lumpia. They were so small, not much filling. Could be comparable to the size of a finger. The taste was decent. The siopao was good, along with the pork adobo. The highlight of the meal was pancit, it was cooked near perfect and tasted just like pancit should. If you're looking to try Filipino food, wouldn't be a bad place to try. The turon nice and crispy, as well as not overly sweet, . Big plus that it had langka! That makes or breaks a turon. The sisig was good & flavorful. You definitely have to add the egg to get the full experience! The kaldereta was perfect with tender beef chunks and came in a cute baby pot! My only complaint would be the halo halo. Filipino cuisine for dinner [Pensacola FL] Searched Yelp for a place to have dinner and found this restaurant serving Filipino-American food. The building and where it was located looked a bit odd. When we arrived at the place it was kind of on a back alley with the signs facing away from the main road, not immediately visible to the eye. It was by itself with Burger King, Sonic's, and McDonald's at a distant nearby. Inside is a good amount of seating, both tables and booths. Look up and you'll see colorful triangle pennant strings hanging from the ceiling. There is a small stage area towards the back and a karaoke machine with two flat screen TV's mounted on each side of the stage. It reminds me of a fiesta celebration in the Philippines. Oh, yes, the food. We were so hangry and we ordered a few classic favorites: pork sinigang, palabok, Tocilog, Shanghai lumpia, and Igado. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our bellies because we couldn't finish everything! LoL! Everything was delicious and filled us up. I didn't even have room for dessert. This was the first time I ever actually finished a dish (the palabok) without saving it to go. My daughter and I visited this place for the first time while I'm in town. Food was okay, the pork on skewer were a bit hard to chew, the fried milkfish was very bland, same as the lechón kawali.
