I went to Ruby's with a group of about 13 women. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The historic building is beautiful![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was also a shop inside called Thyme Stamp Boutique, I did not peruse the items on this day but I will get back to do so. I also met the owner on this occasion and she was delightful. My experience may be because I was part of a large group of ladies, the service was slow but friendly. It also seemed a bit chaotic. Everyone complained of the parking as well but I did not have that issue as I always get to where I am going early and I found it easy to park in the extra lot behind the building. Apparently there is a place across the street from the building where you can also park. We were there at 1pm so lunch was on the agenda. I decided to forgo a regular meal and just get the cake flight, after all they are a bakery and I should try their best! I ordered a regular iced tea (no sugar) to go along with my cake. The cake flight I chose was the C.J.'s Vanilla Almond Buttercream (Wedding Cake), Dorothy Blevin's Cake, and the Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream. It was a good choice for lunch although if I go back I will just get the cake that I really liked out of the 3. Maybe next time also I will try the chicken salad croissant and the chicken velvet soup. I think my experience will be better next time outside of a big group. My favorite cake of the 3 was the Dorothy Blevin's Cake as it was unique with a denser texture than the others and it had pecans, pineapple, and a caramel topping. I thought the almond cake was a bit cloyingly sweet and the almond tasted pretty artificial, the chocolate was not chocolate enough for me if that makes sense. Maybe needed to be a little darker chocolate and richer but if you are looking for something lighter that may be your thing. Overall I will go back and try this bakery/cafe again and hopefully will have a better experience and I will order a full lunch next time. read more

The Lemon White Chocolate Scones at Ruby's Cafe & Bakery in Anderson are on a whole different level. Forget everything you think you know about scones being dry, crumbly little bricks. These are soft, buttery, rich, and packed with bright lemon flavor with just the right touch of sweet white chocolate. Every bite tastes amazing! Honestly one of the BEST scones I've ever had. If you see them available, grab one immediately. Then probably grab a second because you'll regret not doing it. Absolute must-try. read more

Ruby's catered my Mom's 80th birthday for 15 people at her home and it was amazing from start to finish. Pam was highly responsive, helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process. The food was excellent: ham sliders, chicken salad croissants, mac-n-cheese, broccoli salad, chips, cherry pie and apple pie. All so delicious for everyone. Mom loves the chicken velvet soup and Pam was kind enough to include a cup for her as a special birthday gift. The total experience was so special for all, especially for Mom, and the day was memorable with the food being the extra special focal point. Thank you Ruby's...we'll definitely be back! read more

Absolutely a delightful find, our friend at St Ambrose Catholic Church recommended this place! We are so pleased to have tried this today. Rosie enjoyed the ham sliders along with the chicken velvet soup! I loved the chicken velvet soup! Very fresh and not overly heavy ... a great bowl of soup for a light lunch. Cauliflower also a tasty treat. Cant speak to the deserts yet. Taking some Key lime pie home to DH- he will be a good judge! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop & decor is perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Have included many pictures. Service outstanding- friendly and honestly described the offerings. We decided that this might be a good place to order a carry out order and enjoy it at home. The owner stopped by our table (Pam Clendenin) - they have only been open since November 2023! The soup was served hot which I love. I had the iced tea but they had coffee specialty drinks too. We got the 3 cake slice flight to go and can't wait to try it. Chocolate cake is dense, sweet, moist, and even a little savory. Coffee cake was eaten by my friend, so idk how it tastes. I know I'll be back soon! read more

A friend and I tried Ruby's for the first time today and really enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and the lunch we enjoyed was great although the menu is pretty limited. Cappuccino plus chicken salad croissant, chips and fresh fruit for me, hot chocolate and a cup of chicken velvet soup for my friend. The cappuccino was well made and delicious, the chicken salad also very good and the fruit quite fresh. My friend adored the soup as well as the hot chocolate. They have a large assortment of baked goods that look delicious. I want to come back for breakfast sometime. Drawbacks: very limited parking in the back and steps to climb, no ramp anywhere. Do not park at the gas station or any businesses nearby. Perhaps on 8th Street. read more

It's too bad Ruby's doesn't care about their disabled customers and make the restaurant handicapped accessible. I would love to come, but I am in a wheelchair. So, it would be impossible with all the steps. I don't waste my money on restaurants that don't care for all people. read more

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Ruby's. It was wonderful to enjoy some local favorite fare from the Cabbage Rose, Gaither's Family Resource Cafe, and Dorothy' Blevins all in one place. I experienced the daily special and substituted the fruit for chicken velvet type soup. Both were delicious! The four of us split a cake sampler tray, and we got to choose the three types of cakes we wanted to try. We went with raspberry, coconut, and Dorothy Blevin's pineapple pecan cake.
