We seek out places like this who hold them to a higher standard. (Usually the places that have "Cheesesteak" or "Philadelphia" in their names.) The litmus test is whether or not they offer whiz as an option. These were miles above the stuff you'd get from a non-Philly branded place in Syracuse, but on the lower end of the good tier. We would definitely ask for extra dressing/whiz on our next order, because they were disappointingly dry. It seemed like an oxymoron to order Whiz Wit and have it come out dry. With that said though, all the ingredients were amazing. The bread is light, pretty much a full on sub roll. The meat was tender and tasted legit. Nothing weird, stringy or clearly frozen. The Smokey Horseradish Dijon kind of got lost in the shuffle. Same meat as the philly, but the mild kick from the mustard didn't really match what a focus on cheese would have done. The chicken cordon bleu was solid. The minced chicken was actually pretty moist. We added cherry peppers, which took it to another level and I would now never go without. Minced chicken is hit or miss for me, but I rolled the dice for chicken cordon bleu and hit the jackpot. These guys aren't my favorite "authentic" Philly in Syracuse, but they hold down the north side just fine. I'd be happy to eat here any time, and the prices are pretty good as well.

This Philly boy cooked his first cheesesteak in Lee's Hoagie House when he was 12. When Charlee's Pizzeria next door to Kasai went out of business after just a few months, Kyle struck a deal with his landlord to take over that storefront. Before Charlee's, it had housed Provisions Bakery for 32 years. This place has been getting a ton of attention since it opened a couple days ago on all the local food groups and news, so I added it to my list figuring I'd check it out when the hype died down in a couple weeks. But today I was out early running errands and figured I'd try to call right when they opened and place a pick up order for a couple hours later, hoping I'd give them enough time notice that I could luck out without the long waits while I ran my errands. I called in right at 11, got through after a couple tries, and placed my order for 1. I got down there a little early, but they're on Walton St, so it gave me enough time to stalk the street a little bit and wait for a parking spot to open. This is a notoriously difficult street to usually find parking on, especially on a weekend, but I lucked out in grabbing a spot right in the tiny parking lot next to the building. I walked in at 1 and food was ready when I got to the counter. Good amount of people inside waiting, but I was able to go right to the counter. Woman at the counter was very friendly. Got home and the wife and I tore in. I got a pizza steak, while my wife just got a cheesesteak wit whiz and we both got a side of curly fries. The wife thought it was decent but wasn't as impressed as I was. I thought they were great, a little sloppy, but the meat was good quality, tasted great, sauce was great, and the homemade roll was great. Could've used a little more pepperoni though. I love me some curly fries, and theirs are great also, and the homemade cheese sauce was tasty. $33 for two cheesesteaks and two fries, so not too bad price wise. A sub and fries was more than enough for a meal, they do not skimp you on meat at all. Now, I won't say they blow every other place in CNY outta the water, as I feel Gino's Steak in Fayetteville is a VERY close second, but I'd definitely go back if in the mood for a cheesesteak again.

Good balance of wiz, onions, and steak. The roll, for me, didn't do much but it did hold up very well and proved to somehow be one of the least messy cheese steaks I've ever eaten. The curly fries were also very tasty. Hot and crispy with a nice seasoning. I truthfully don't particularly care for curly fries in general but I certainly found myself enjoying these. The restaurant itself appeared to be incredibly clean so that's a plus. However the whole aesthetic is pretty barren and somehow reminded me of the scene in Willy Wonka where they're wearing the white suits. Not my taste but it looked clean. Only comment is that the only menus are handheld at the register. This could be an issue if there's any type of line, not to mention the potential to pass on germs. That's about my only complaint. But, since it was their last day, I figured they would have a lot of customers who wanted one last sandwich. We ordered two of my son's favorites: Steak cheese and onion and fries. Let me say that both were excellent. I would easily order these again. The decor was eclectic, the music was Grateful Dead type stuff, and the beer selection was pretty amazing. It is a shame that they are closing. And sadly, it had to do with the owner of the property not renewing the lease. Why does everything have to be about money?

This Philly girl enjoyed Every. Delectable. Bite. It did not disappoint and there were plenty of local touches like the cheese steaks Utica and the chicken riggi sandwich. They even use Amoroso rolls straight from Philadelphia. Definitely worth a side quest if you're in the area or enroute to nearby Green Lakes State Park.

The chicken and rice bowl was one of the best I've had very flavorful. I also got the Philly cheesesteak which satisfied my craving. I think the Philly cheesesteak could've had more meat and I found the plain fries to be lacking salt without the Cajun seasoning but still tasty. It's very hot inside and it seems like their takeout is very active so that's what I would recommend. They have tons of different drinks inside like a gas station and also offer dessert. If you've ever been to the famous TKB Deli in Palm Springs this is a very similar setup in Syracuse. Can't wait to try more things!
