I love ruby slipper for brunch! The food is fantastic and the people are very nice! I do think the service can take a while sometimes but I still go back all the time!! They have a really good like sweet maple butter with their biscuits which I would definitely ask for if they didn't give it with the biscuit already! Since I'm so boring I usually get a BYO omelette and it is always fantastic. It is served with grits and a biscuit, super basic but consistently so good. My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy with the mikes hot honey glazed chicken and the chicken was SO GOOD. Might need to start changing up my order haha!! read more

Please do not go here. We went here while in town visiting family and the shrimp and grits were swimming in oil. The biscuits were dense, hard and lukewarm. The pancakes were good a little sweet but manageable. Everything else was a fail... The manager brought us the wrong order and tried to charge us for it. Nope! Don't bother making a reservation for Sunday brunch. Made a 12:00pm reservation 5 days in advance. Arrived at 11:50am We had to wait in line just to check in with many others who also made reservations. Finally made it to the hostess stand at 12:10pm just to be told there will be a 30 minutes wait. At 12:35 our table was ready. Only available seating was outside on the patio. The fan above our table was off. We asked three times to have it turned on like the others, but no one ever came to turn it on. Food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Definitely not worth the money, wait, or hassle to come back. We ate at the RS in New Orleans when it first opened and it was great. This was nowhere near that experience. read more

Food Service was so slow and it wasn't crowded at all when we arrived. Our server was great it just took forever to get out food. The best part of my meal was the bacon. Crispy and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, I have to knock Ruby Slipper from a 5 star down to a 3 star. We were disappointed in our most recent visit. The French toast was very burned on the bottom, so my wife had to order something different. By the time the new order came out, I was pretty much finished eating. Usually, places like this will at least take half off of that order, but they didn't do anything to compensate. Not that they HAVE to, but it would have been nice. Breakfast sandwich wasn't very good, and the Cochon eggs Benedict was not as tasty as last time either. Overall, the food and experience was a letdown: (a $43 letdown). The vanilla latte was good, and the fried chicken eggs Benedict was very good. So they still do some things well. Not sure if we'll be back though. read more

Stopped by as I am never on this side of town and I have always just wanted to drop by this place. Very small and full of NOLA vibes place which I liked a lot. We were greeted promptly and seated inside. The menu has quite a few breakfast and lunch options but I went simple and got pancakes and bacon. The pancakes are huge and you are given two in an order. You will be just fine with two pancakes trust me. The batter was good, not the best but good enough for me. The bacon was yummy and crispy. Overall it was a nice place and I look forward to trying it again but it isn't one of my top list only because of the location and the food not really wowing me but don't get me wrong it was good. Cute spot for breakfast or brunch! I was in the mood for something sweet and got the bananas Foster Pain Perdu. It is a French bread based French toast with rum flambeéd bananas and raisins. It is served with a side of applewood bacon (get some salt with that sweet dish). Service was fast, prompt, and friendly and I would come back. read more

Today has been a great morning at The Ruby Slipper with our awesome server Jullian! The food was great and he was very attentive from the moment we sat down. We had several requests as we were dining with our awesome 8 yr old. He didn't make us feel extra for our multiple requests and he handled each one of them with care. The food, as always, was hot and fresh and started our Saturday morning off on the right track! My wife and I originally were going to try to come to the ruby slipper cafe in New Orleans however the weight there was very long and I just couldn't wait that long to eat. When going to baton rouge I noticed there was another ruby slipper cafe close and told my wife that we had to try it. The food had looked so good from their website and there were a few things that I thought we just had to try. We made a reservation online and drove over to be there in time for it. When we got there we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving at the bar. We were given the option to wait for a table but the bar seating was fairly quick and we opted for that. It seemed like they were trying to space people out on the bar likely due to covid so it felt a little cramped but also safe of the same time. We had got the biscuits and gravy and the trio of eggs Benedict. The biscuits were large and very good and the gravy was delicious. We split each entree so I also tried my wife's trio and each one was very good. All in all I think this place is really good and a little chic. And if I live closer to one I would probably frequent them more often. read more

Ruby Slipper is a fast paced sit down brunch-aurant (don't steal my word!). I can say that from a logistics standpoint, it seems tough for them. This is a popular brunch spot, and if you and your party are not there ON TIME, you all will be waiting. If you have friends that are known to be late, tell them to come a half an hour earlier than the actual meet up time. My most recent visit was a birthday celebration, and the total party count was 14. Lesson learned: For parties larger than 8 people, go somewhere else. The customer service is decent, but I understand the fast paced environment they are in. Be patient, my friends. As for the food, you know the food is going to hit the spot. The trifecta is my jam. Overall, I like Ruby Slipper. Just be on time, be patient, and enjoy! read more

I drank way too much and even got a cup to go. In ordered the biscuits and gravy with the hot and sweet chicken. Every bite was yummy. The fried green tomato. The biscuits and sausage gravy. Okay the eggs tasted like there was vinegar in the water. The bacon was just ordinary. The spicy chicken with a honey spice sauce was yummy! YUMMY! I obviously couldn't eat it all. For my first time here the wait time was HORRIBLE!!We were first told 15 min wait time which turned into over 30 minutes. Was told by Lisa we never have a 15 minute wait. People walked right in and were seated before us because they reserved online which made us wait longer. If I knew about reservations online I would have. I don't think we should have waited longer when we were physically there before any of them. They NEED to come up with a better system! read more

Every time I'm back in my hometown of Baton Rouge I always ask friends and family for new spots to try. One of my buddies recommended this spot and this is by far my new favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the city. The customer service and the food was great. I got the sweet heat chicken and french toast bites, shown in the picture, and my Fiancé got the breakfast sandwich that I unfortunately didn't get a picture of. The atmosphere is very casual with both indoor and patio seating. There is also bar with with seating near the front entrance. Definitely recommend checking this place out. I feel horrible for Sierra! We ordered and started with a latte... it came COLD. Husband asked for them to take it back. They offered hot milk? $4 latte that was cold. Not even lukewarm. If that was a first impression for breakfast... It wasn't a very good first impression. The poor server wasn't left with a lot of alternatives (call mom?) so I left her a tip and we left. Snippy staff. Shocked as I write this. I just upped it one star because Kelsey reached out to me. But I still won't come back. If this is the first impression, its my last impression. I'm sad for it, and I am not being snooty. $4 for a latte is not cheap. You can get a much better cup over at McDonalds for LESS. The issue is a) when a product is not good and b) when the server doesn't have the maturity to know what the right thing to do is. And unfortunately for me, I can work with undertrained staff or new people. But something like this was more a reflection of leadership. I wish you all luck! My family and I enjoyed our meals. The service was great. The Shrimp Cortez was a summer special and absolutely delicious! Griddled corn cakes loaded with roasted corn, bell peppers, and sweet onions served over a bed of spinach, poached eggs, and topped with our award winning Cortez cream Sauce made with Gulf shrimp, artichokes, Tasso, corn and peppers. My experience today was very upsetting and if this was my first experience I wouldn't be back. It's maybe in the high 30s this morning in regards to the temperature outside. It was freezing inside. The heat was not on. One of the waitresses had on a scarf, coat and had her ears covered up. I never took my coat off. Even with my fleece lining in my coat I was still chilled to the bone. I sat and waited for someone to address me after the hostess sat me at my table. One table was helped, the second table and by the third table being help I stopped a waitress to inquiry who's section I was sitting in. Maybe they didn't see me because I was camouflaged (I had on my military uniform). She replied she wasn't sure who's table I was sitting at but she would find out. After another 5 minutes the same waitress that assisted the two tables that were sitting directly beside me came over and apologized. She offered to help me. The food was good as usual however, the lack of responsiveness and heat makes me never want to come to this location again. read more
