Spotless and in order by Nicole Brown

Nicole Brown is excellent!!! If I could give 1000 stars I would. Always going above and beyond and not only in customer service, but in the way she manages the restaurant when no one is looking. Very attentive to details down to labeling the correct items with proper dates without having to be constantly reminded or told. The bar is always clean with zero fruit flies anytime Nicole Brown is working as head bartender. When she's waitressing she's always accommodating to all guests/ children and pets . A joy to have at the Ruby Slipper. She should be managing the location in Baton Rouge and Corporate should give her a proper pay raise $$$ Way to go Nicole Brown, keep up the great work! Hope corporate reads the memo. Cheers!

Got on the waitlist and it was a wait! As soon as we sat down we placed it order but The server wasn't great. We didn't get our coffee or tea but the drink from the bar came out quick. It was difficult to get refills. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. I would probably not recommend unless you're adamant about trying it out.

Visited this location to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The location is good and the decor attractive. The server was super friendly. Food was decent. I do not recommend the beignets-too dense.

Their is a waitress/bartender goes by the name Nicole I think...She is amazing....You don't even have to ask for anything because she already be on top of all your needs....She always has a smile for you and she is always busy doing something....She always ask how's your morning or day going...She keeps you informed on the specials that they have going on too... I think she is an asset to the company and others around her!!!

My son picked this restaurant for brunch and it was a great choice. The food was definitely delicious for all of us except one person. Her bacon and potatoes were not good to her. The drinks were delicious. My daughter n law said there was water on the bathroom floor and that's unfortunate because she is pregnant. Should probably put up signs or have someone check them periodically for things like that. The waitress Ashley was very nice and polite. She was very helpful with menu suggestions. She seems to work really hard at her job. We are very grateful for her love for great service. Thank you Ashley ! We enjoyed our time there.

I got the miga and it was outstanding. My husband got the hot chicken and French toast bites. Also amazing. Coffee is strong and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable. It is very pleasant inside and they have patio seating as well. NOTE to Business owner - you have enough customer photo's of your food. You don't need the business owner photo's. They make it look like you are covering up something. They automatically give a negative impact. YElper's want to see the real stuff when it is served. Just my opinion.

A casual breakfast spot located at the end of a strip mall, Ruby Slippers is a quick and accessible option for those looking for a carb heavy southern breakfast. We were able to be seated as walk-ins on Presidents Day morning, although the place was absolutely packed. The service here was warm and the food came out moderately quick. This place feels like one of those higher end casual spots, definitely a step above IHOP, but not quite First Watch. We ordered a bunch of things so we'll break it down one by one: Pancakes with bacon - a bit of a letdown. Pancakes had no real flavor and the bacon was good, not great. Beignets - pretty good. Better than some we've had for sure, a nice sweet and doughy treat. French toast bites - very delicious. Came with a nice, sweet dipping sauce that really brought it home. Fried catfish & grits - hit and a miss. The catfish was delicious and lightly battered, the grits were very heavy and buttery which didn't go well with the catfish. It does also come with a biscuit that was light and buttery. Creamy vanilla iced coffee - good. Nothing too special, definitely better than a chain like Starbucks, that's for sure. It had a nice sweetness to it. Altogether, Ruby Slipper is a decent breakfast spot. Nothing we ate really hit it out of the park, but we were satisfied with our meal. It really seems like a local favorite spot and one that feels convenient to hit coming and going from NOLA. If you're looking for quick, convenient, and moderately cheap, this is the spot you're searching for.

I just love this place. The praline pancakes are must! And Ashley C. Went above and beyond to make sure my experience was awesome.

    Southern Breakfast

I recently went to have breakfast. We made reservations so it wasn't a long wait time. I ordered the southern breakfast. My food was average my eggs were cooked well, added cheese to my grits but was very runny and my fried green tomato had no flavor, I ordered coffee and I had to send it back not good. Bacon and biscuit were average and eaten. My service was average. The restaurant was clean and I was seated on the side with a window view.

Beignets Starter, Fried Catfish and Grits, and Whipped Pineapple Mimosa
    B.V. R.

I had the Beignets for an appetizer, entree was Catfish and Grits, and for a drink Whipped Pineapple Mimosa. The beignets were a bit doughy, biscuit texture, the catfish was overcooked and chewy, the grits were real creamy which I did like, and the Whipped Pineapple Mimosa was fine. I was disappointed in the food as it didn't appeal to the tastebuds. The line was out the door, but the wait wasn't terrible at all. Our waitress got our tables mixed up so orders were going to different tables. She was a nice girl, but definitely inexperienced when it comes to a busy work day. Overall the food wasn't worth the price and very disappointing.

Found this place on Yelp, and the food was pretty solid. I will say, though, their waitlist and host situation is a bit of a mess. The area is super small with zero organization. We were in town for a football game, so I imagine it was busier than usual, but the hostess still seemed extremely overwhelmed and unsure of what was going on. Thankfully, the general manager ended up seating us, and he was extremely nice--our server was great as well. We all ordered mimosa flights, which were just okay. They had way too much juice for my taste, and the glasses weren't filled anywhere near the top. But the food made up for it. I had the Benedict Trio, which was amazing--super flavorful and very filling. The beignets were also hot, fresh, and delicious. Overall, a good spot for food, but the front-of-house operations could definitely use some improvement.

Gulf Shrimp Omelet with Breakfast Potatoes
    Seanniece B.

We were greeted and seated immediately. It did take a little minute for our waiter to come to our table but she took our order quickly and put it in the system. I ordered the gulf shrimp omelette with breakfast potatoes, gluten-free toast, fruit salad, and chicken sausage. I also ordered an Earl Grey hot tea. So the food didn't take long to come out and the food did look good when it came out , for the most part. The side fruit salad was not great. I would not recommend it. Also, the toast came out cold, which was odd. The golf shrimp omelette was great. I got it without cheese. The breakfast potatoes, the ones that were not too crispy, were good and the chicken sausage was exceptional. Overall, I was really excited about coming here because they have a lot of history behind the restaurant, as well as they clearly mark their allergens, but it was a bit underwhelming.

    Ross A.

Prime time on a Sunday there is going to be a wait. Just roll with it, it is worth it. I have had countless versions of eggs Benedict across the U.S. and I can say the trifecta at Ruby Slipper is hands down the best I have ever had. Even being crazy busy we had great service with a smile.

My husband had an omelette with peppers and bacon, and he really enjoyed it. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

We were in a large alcove at the back of the restaurant. It was spacious and elegant, even with the table ended up being almost entirely filled. Food was delicious and all delivered within minutes of one another (no one was stuck waiting for long). Burger was cooked to perfection and not TOO hot. I hate when food is so hot in temperature that you can't take a bite. The chocolate cake was good, but the whip cream tasted kinda fake/oily. The cake itself was medium density and had a slightly salted finish. It paired perfectly with the frosting which was very rich and extra sweet. A delightful pairing. For my drink, plus a double shot of whiskey, the burger and dessert, it came to just over $100. That feels expensive. Take that as you will. I wouldn't return mostly due to price. Beer Garden Review 2…read more Hospitality isn't complicated. It's making people feel like guests instead of table numbers. And Mid City Beer Garden didn't skip that part. In fact, the way we were treated says more about the character of this place than the food ever could. I use a cane, so I now have three legs--well, four if you count my beautiful husband! After our HVAC decided to abandon us in the middle of this heat wave, we figured the best way to beat the temperature was to escape to Mid City Beer Garden in Baton Rouge for some cold drinks, good food, and hopefully a little relief. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted. I immediately noticed the high seating and explained my situation, asking if a booth was available. The beautiful young lady greeter checked and told us it would be about a 15-minute wait. After just escaping our sweltering house, we weren't sure we wanted to wait that long. Then the handsome young gentleman greeter said, "Let me make sure." About five minutes later, he came back with the best news: "We have a booth for you!" That small gesture meant a lot. They didn't simply tell us to wait--they took the time to find a comfortable seating option for me. We immediately felt welcomed and appreciated. We visited in the evening, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed. The evening vibe was spot-on--industrial meets modern, softened by greenery, warm lighting, string lights, and neon. Think laid-back European beer garden, but effortlessly cool. At night, the place really came alive without losing that cozy, inviting feel. Beer lovers, don't skip the main bar. The custom tap wall is a total vibe, with a solid lineup of beers and plenty of personality. Our waitress continued that same level of hospitality. She was attentive, friendly, and provided that kind of service where the smile feels genuine rather than part of the uniform. But then came the moment that really impressed me. I ordered a 10 oz. Sapporo, but somehow received a 16 oz. I didn't even notice the difference. When we were getting ready to pay, our waitress came over and told us about the blunder-- noting we would only be charged for the 10 oz. Now THAT is honesty. We've been to establishments where billing mistakes seem to mysteriously work in the restaurant's favor. So having someone actually point out an error that benefited us--and make sure we weren't overcharged--was refreshing. Speaking of the food... We ordered the shrimp po'boy. It certainly looked loaded with shrimp, but was skimpy and unfortunately, it fell short for us. The shrimp was flavorful, but overcooked. The bread was thick and dense, so I eventually found myself eating only the shrimp and leaving the rest of the sandwich behind. The fries were tasty, but they didn't have that hot, fresh-out-of-the-oil crispiness we were hoping for, so we only ate a few. Would I order the shrimp po'boy again? Probably not. I'm only speaking for the two people at our table--and we're not professional food critics, just two hungry people with opinions! Now, the real highlight of our visit... We met the most beautiful soul. My husband suddenly says, "Look, there's a really tall young man sitting behind you." I turned around, stood up, and said, "My husband said you're really tall. Can I take a picture with you?" He was so sweet and gracious and took a picture with me. And let me tell you--that absolutely made my night! I told him he was beautiful, and he responded, "You are beautiful too!" I disagreed with him, of course. He looked at me and said, "No, ma'am. You are beautiful." Well... alright then! You win. Naturally, I had questions. I asked if he played basketball. "Yes, for Southern University." I asked his jersey number. "Number 22." I told him, "Well, I'm coming to see you play!" And that young man gave me one of the biggest, brightest smiles I've ever seen on a basketball player. So, y'all... if you get out to Southern University and A&M College this season, go show #22 some love and cheer him on. Who knows? We might be looking at a future NBA champion! We had a wonderful evening at Mid City Beer Garden. Eventually, we went back home to a house that had finally cooled down and enjoyed the rest of our evening loving on each other. Thank you, Mid City Beer Garden, for giving us a place to escape the heat, relax, laugh, eat, drink, and make a memory. And most of all... Thank you, Number 22, for honoring an old lady's wishes. Some nights are about the food. Some nights are about the atmosphere. And some nights, you just happen to meet a beautiful souls who makes the whole evening unforgettable.
