Absolutely AWFUL! Food was so so but the service was ABSOLUTELY Horrendous. The bartender had no personality and acted like we were a bother to her music she had playing in her EAR PHONES! To make us feel uncomfortable for even being there is ridiculous. I could go on but I won't. Extremely disappointed and hope they can figure it out and get some good help. I do have to add the kitchen guy came out with our food and was talking to us about our meals and she gave him attitude and told him to get out of her way. Super slow reception that keeps disappear, she is not in the front for at least 20mins, she is not letting people in when there are at least 5 tables available. Server are not too nice too, taking forever to get food , people keep moving around but don't see them doing things. Bad experience overall, if the restaurant is not able to serve many people , hire more server. read more

Note to self, never visit a new restaurant in its 1st couple of months. I was super excited to see this open in Ballantyne and closer than its other location. My husband surprised me with us going this past Saturday. It took the waitress 10 minutes to get to our table and another 30 minutes for our food to arrive... 40 minutes tooo long. I was also disappointed in the lack of vegan options as my husband had to put a meal together of the potato's and fruit - potatoes were the smallest portion in a brunch spot i have ever seen. When eating he notified his grapes had mold on them. As you could imagine he sent his whole meal back. I had the French toast which on the menu it stated it would be brioche. It was for sure not brioche and just regular bread. The waitress seemed to be annoyed having to work. She barley returned to the table to check on us. She did comp his portions which should be the bare minimum and gave us a coupon for a sampler on them for next time. You would at least expect the manager to visit the table and provide a response on serving moldy fruit which did not happen. 10 out of 10 i would not recommend this place and will never go back. read more

Food was decent, nothing memorable or worth coming back for. The worst part of it all was the service. Our waitress took forever to take our orders and stood behind the bar for long periods of time on her cellphone. She got most of our order wrong and even forgot some of our order. Our food was taken and placed on the wrong table. When they realized the mistake they picked it up from the other table and placed in front of us. The food runner kept blaming the waitress and she blamed him. After all that 0 refills and waiting for our bill for over 20 min after asking for it, we asked for a receipt that never came. They have a gluten free menu but it's smaller than the regular menu and the font is so small it's hard to read. The server came back three times to say that they don't prepare gf food in a separate area, that there is cross contamination. I did have a reaction, so I won't go back. read more

Was quoted 20-30 min wait. At the 30 min mark inquired about our place in line and was told it would be another 15 mins , we were next in line , and that we were quoted that time which we weren't. This place just opened, and I wanted to love it. I wasn't planning to post a review, but it was truly the worst dining experience I've ever had service-wise and continued to get worse. It started with our party being given a wait time of 30 to 45 minutes upon arrival - understandable given that it had just opened. After waiting 55 minutes, while wrangling a toddler, we went to the hostess stand to ask how much longer it would be since it had exceeded the initial wait time. The hostess was unpleasant and short, trying to tell us that we were wrong about how long it had been and that it had only been 38 minutes - despite me having a text from the restaurant's waitlist system that showed it had been nearly an hour. We were then seated, and served hot lattes instead of iced. We politely asked for our correct drinks, and 10 minutes later were served iced coffees instead of lattes - which we didn't address as we just wanted drinks at that point. After a decent wait, half of our party was served our meals, which were good, but had finished our meals before the other half was able to find our server to ask where their meals were. They were finally served 20 minutes after the initial meals had come out, and half the party had to leave as it had been so long from arriving to actually getting the food. While the food was fine, it did not at all make up for the horrible service all around, and we won't be back. read more

Online Order placed at 1:29 pm 9/17. Was supposed to ready at 1:49. Went the bar and gave the mostly inattentive girl 'working' the bar my name and told her I had an online order. She said "it's still cookin". Those were the only words she said to me the entire time. The bar was dirty from the last diners. She never bothered to wipe it off. Just sipped her coffee and looked clueless. I would have ordered a Bloody Mary if she had asked if I would like something to drink. When two people came and sat down next to me to order, another server did come and wipe down the bar while the aforementioned girl in the red shirt just sipped her drink. I finally got my order (from someone else) at 2:06pm. Probably my last visit, I'd rather drive a little bit further to First Watch or OPH. Came in on a Sunday morning, no wait. Server was okay, was not very consistent and only came around twice the whole meal. As far as our food goes, none of it was great. Eggs were ordered fried and scrambled, came out over-easy. Some other food was also incorrect and was sent back only to be returned much later. Breakfast sandwiches were not good, coffee was flavorless, left the place nauseated. Food was 100% not worth the money. Manager made small talk and apologized once, took off one of the meals, but we left majority of our food uneaten. Save your time, money and your stomach and go somewhere else. read more

Hoping to avoid a long wait, we checked in online. The online form first advised estimated wait was 5-15 min, but when I submitted the info, it changed to 25-40 minutes. It took the full 40 (checked in 10:18, seated 10:59). Our table had a pool of standing water under it, evidently from a beverage spilled but never cleaned. The area below was a disgusting mess; we might as well have been eating on the filthy sidewalks of San Francisco. My seat had a sticky ring, as a busser had placed a used beverage on the seat without cleaning it. There were no staff around to clean up this mess so I had to sit uncomfortably on the half of the seat that wasn't dirty. Since we waited so long for a seat, we had already become acquainted with the menu and decided what we wanted and ordered immediately when a server arrived. For my entree, the menu said "with a side of your choice." I looked at the list of sides listed below that and chose one. The server said there would be an upcharge for that. I pointed out that the menu indicated it came with "with a side of your choice," and that was listed among the sides with no indication that it costs more. She then revealed that "side of your choice" is limited to only 3 items. Isn't that deceptive? If there are around 10 items in your list of sides, but "your choice" is a much smaller subset, shouldn't you mention that somewhere on the menu? Or just list the items that are actually offered as a choice within the entrée description. That deception was irritating, but I didn't argue at all. It was clear, however, from the server's suddenly surly countenance that she was utterly contemptuous that I would even dare to order a side "of my choice" from the list of sides. After ordering, we waited ...& waited ...& waited. After the first 15 min, I noticed one of the groups who had been seated after us already received their foods, though we still had not. Waiting further, another group seated after us got their food. We ordered very pedestrian entrees--nothing exotic, no special requests or alterations--so the delay was mystifying. Then, to add insult to injury, before we had received any morsel of food, one of the parties who had been seated around the same time was already leaving, having completely finished their meal! Ironically, while we were still waiting, I got an automated text from the restaurant asking me to fill out a survey about how it was. In the meantime, we had zero human contact: nobody checked on us, gave us an estimate for food, apologized for the delay, or offered beverage refills even one time. Our server was MIA for a solid hour. I considered just leaving because the delay was so lengthy and service so absent, but we were in this far. It was a sunk cost, so we waited further. Finally, after waiting about 40 min, a different server put food on our table, then immediately left without checking if everything was correct. Once again, we were left with no human contact for the rest of the meal (perhaps a great blessing given the prickly demeanor of our disappearing server). I sat there, empty beverage with no offer to refill. My sandwich was dry and tasteless, and then I discovered why: the cheese ordered on my sandwich was as absent as the server. If someone had come to check on us at some point, I could have requested that my food match what I actually ordered, but alas, no contact, so I ended up with less than I bargained for (and less than I paid for). When it came time to take money, however, suddenly there was a surfeit of employees. Multiple people come out of the woodwork within a minute of each other: 1 to drop off the bill (behold--our server, who had been MIA for 1full hour) and a different person to take payment. Payment was made via handheld device, whereby the server literally stands there holding the it while you determine tip. This method is awkward and as tacky as Halloween party in West Hollywood. Thankfully most restaurants have the sense not to use these gauche, obnoxious gadgets. I will actively avoid restaurants that use these. Of course, by this point in the meal, I had already decided never to return here again, so this was just the icing on the cake. It's a shame the staff do not take pride in their jobs nor pride in the cleanliness of their establishment nor pride in getting an order correct. Is it too much to ask for decent food served properly and accurately, with a modicum of service and a table that isn't squalid? At Ruby Sunshine, evidently, all of these expectations are indeed too much. read more

Sanitation score of 98 on the door. They offered us outside seating, but had to wait on inside even though it was half empty inside. Food was nothing to write home about. read more

Outstanding! Food was very well prepared, fresh with balanced flavor profiles. Customer service was outstanding, wait staff most helpful. Definite upgrade over the previous restaurant here. Will likely get crowded fast, as it is not a large facility, but has a charming patio with shade in the morning and it's relatively quiet. Had the "OG" Benedict, with fried potatoes on the side. Portion is modest, but the food is simply outstanding. Hollandaise sauce was balanced, light and lemony, eggs poached perfectly. Bacon was crisp, breakfast, potatoes crispy, and not too salty, and a side salad with outstanding champagne vinaigrette with field greens and cherry tomatoes. Highly recommend! read more

We waited 45 min after our check in even thought we were on the wait list for 25 min already. We were sat and waited another 15 min before I flagged down a random server. I asked her who our server was. She said "Sam". I told her we had been waiting 15 min for someone to come take our drink orders and give us silverwear. This server said she felt bad and would just add us to her list of tables because she couldn't locate Sam. A few minutes later Sam came to our table and asked what we wanted to drink. I told her that we got sick of waiting so the other server already took our drink order. She told me she had to double duty as a bartender and she didn't have time to take table orders so she was happy the other server had to pick up our table to serve. I didn't think that was fair. I then over heard Sam telling another table she preferred being a bartender and that was what she preferred doing because of her long experience. She said she was technically hired at RS as a server and backup bartender, but only wanted to be a bartender. TMI. Sam was a crappy server. Food was ok. Def not worth the almost 2 hr all around wait. Started off awful, almost left, but stuck it out. We put our name on the waitlist before we arrived, checked in as soon as we got there, confirmed the wait time was the same as online, then went outside to wait. We waited double the estimated wait time, went inside to check on status, was told the kitchen was behind and they weren't seating anymore until kitchen caught up, but was quoted about 5 more mins. We waited another 15-20 before going back in to see what was going on, we were told 3 more mins, kitchen was almost caught up. We were finally seated, then came the wait for someone to greet us. We waited about 10-15 mins for someone to come, she only asked us if we wanted water, without giving us a chance to order what we actually wanted, then walked away. Came back 5 mins later, empty handed, and asked for our drink order. We ordered drinks and asked to order our meal while she was there. We all ordered (3 adults, 1 child), as soon as we finished, she asked us to reorder, she didn't get any of our order the first time! It picked up from here - our wait for food wasn't nearly as long as we expected given how the experience started off. I was looking forward to my first visit to Ruby Sunshine and decided today would be the day. It was a rainy Friday about 10:30 AM and I was ready for brunch. I arrived and was seated right away. I waited and waited, but no one came over to greet me or take even my beverage order. Finally, a waitress named Krista came over to greet the table next to me, who had arrived after me. She noticed right away that I had been waiting and had not been helped. After she finished with her table, she stopped at my table and apologized that my server had not come over yet and asked if she could at least bring me a beverage. She proceeded to say, if you are ready to order, I'll just go ahead and take your order for you. She then continued to provide me with great service during my visit. The server assigned to my table never came over during my visit to apologize. Thank you Krista for doing the right thing and taking care of a customer you noticed had not been helped, even though I was not in your section. I appreciate you! The reason this review gets 3 stars is because the food was amazing. However, the service left something to be desired. We were seated for over 10 minutes before anyone came over to our table. After about 10 minutes, someone (not our server) came over to let us know our server hadn't shown up to the restaurant yet (it's was a quarter to 9:00). This person didn't offer to grab us waters or take a drink order. Another few minutes passed and a server did finally come to take our orders. We ordered waters and coffee, an app, and our entrees. The appetizer came out within minutes, but no water or coffee. Our entrees came shortly after and we asked for our drinks from the runner. Still a few minutes passed and still no drinks. Both of our dishes were spicy, so we wanted to wait until we had our drinks to begin eating. We ended up asking for our drinks from 3 different people before any were brought over. Overall a very disappointing experience, but the food was 10/10! read more
