Ugh, with mixed emotions I write this review. I was so looking forward to having brunch here on Valentine's day with my hubby. I made reservations through the Yelp app, which is a great idea. Please do so before coming here. When we walked in, we could tell that they were very busy as the hostess was not at her station and apparently was busy cleaning off several tables.. please hire a buser.. I say we waited about ten minutes, and several servers, including the hostess walked past us and didn't even acknowledge our presence. They could have at least said "Good morning. Someone will be with you in a moment", But they didn't. We were not the only ones waiting by the door, there were at least seven others plus people waiting outside. When the hostess finally made it to the station, I had to get her attention to tell her that we had reservations. She looked up our name to confirm and then, sat us at a table next to the waitress station and entrance to the kitchen. Not a great location, but was just happy to have a place to sit down. So we can get our brunch ordered. There were also several other tables that were available. Our server finally showed up with a frown on her face. She handed us the menus and said she'd be back to take our order. I smiled and said thank you and received no response. She came back a few minutes later and took our order. Still no smile on her face. She must not like her job. I tried to keep my attitude positive and friendly; but, it didn't seem to work for her. I ordered the irish coffee and my husband ordered decaf coffee. For brunch, we both ordered the One Tomato Two Tomato benny, that consists of fried green tomatoes on a biscuit with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I ordered mine without the biscuit. My husband kept it as is. When our food finally came out, it looked amazing. I quickly broke the poached egg open to see if it was cooked correctly. It was! Nice and runny the way it's supposed to be. Then I took a bite. It was lukewarm almost cold. Ugh!!! So disappointing! I wasn't gonna send it back because I was too hungry. My husband's dish was also lukewarm and and basically cold. His biscuit was dry and hard as a rock. He could barely cut through it. He ended up not eating. Since our server's attitude was not the best, I didn't want to risk sending our food back. It really is a cute little restaurant. And we may try it again. We are definitely going to try the one in downtown Charleston to see if the service and the food is better. Fingers crossed!

Ruby Sunshine is a great stop for the hungry! Excellent location with that old style southern east coast charm beach vibe! Amazing food, and a lot of it!

This breakfast/brunch spot is delicious! The restaurant itself is vibrant and fun. Our server Danielle was so nice too! Adding on, just outside their front entrance there was a little free library stand which was so nice to see! We had the eggs cochon, Spanish omelette, and the cinnamon pancake with a hot chocolate! We also had the white chocolate cranberry beignets which I thought were going to be bigger but they were alright! The cinnamon pancake was definitely my favorite out of all the dishes!

The only thing that would make it better is if they came to Mt. Pleasant!!! Love the cool decor and everything is so upbeat and positive here!! I've never been to the downtown location, but have been to this location multiple times, with and without it being a Yelp event!! The food and drinks are amazing!! I especially enjoy the beignets and shrimp and grits! Ruby Sunshine we are waiting for you in the North Area of Mt Pleasant!! Please!!!

The food and the staff are great. I ordered this chicken, egg and biscuit breakfast and it was delicious. I also ordered a side of grits that was made with milk or cream. I only like water in my grits. The chef was nice enough to make me a delicious pancake.

If you want a great Benedict come here! I love that you can do a Benedict combo with any two of the Benedict on the menu on one plate. I wish that they would come with sides but now I just get to choose my own. Always start with some sort of beignet sweet item to begin with and then switched to a savory Benedict. They have great drink menu with a full bar and they even validate parking. I've come to the West Ashley location only but can't wait to try the one downtown. The servers are always so smiley And happy to be there. Love the music choice and the breakfast quotes on the wall.

I had the catfish and grits with an iced coffee. I really loved the coffee. And was pretty impressed with the catfish. I wish it was a little crispier but that would be hard with the Tasso gravy. Overall, very happy with my meal. I will be back. Good service.

The server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the spiced latte that was delicious. For an appetizer we got an order of beignets for the table. The kids ate a few, but they needed to rise more and be cooked a little longer. I ordered a BLT and my daughter ordered the kids cinnamon swirl pancakes. The BLT needed more toppings and sauce. It was mainly dry bread. The kids pancakes were amazingly delicious! They had a strong vanilla flavor and were our favorite thing we ordered. We highly recommend trying the pancakes!!

So this Ruby sunshine was a bit of a miss for me. There were some things they did right some things that were wrong. We arrived for brunch and it was fairly busy seven or eight couples waiting, but there was no hostess. The hostess was busy cleaning and busing tables. I think the thing number one is you need a bus boy. No one greeted us even when the hostess came over. We had to get her attention. However, once we told her we had reservations she seated us immediately. The wait staff looked like they were walking all over themselves. They were a bit discombobulated. Perhaps assigning the specific sections would be helpful. The food did come out fairly quickly however ours was lukewarm. The biscuit that came out with my food was also rock hard, I couldn't cut it with a knife. The eggs, however, were poached perfectly, and the waitress was attentive. I think the ambience could use a little help. I really don't enjoy seeing stacked up crates and containers and the waitress station in plain sight with dirty dishes stuff piled in. This was our first time at this location for eating we will give the other Ruby sunshine location to try and see if it's just the staff. I will say the menu selection and the items and creativity make it really interesting. If they prepare it correctly and it's not lukewarm. I bet it would be amazing.

Where to start... eggs under cooked (you can see the white embryos, pancakes breaking apart from being undercooked and battery, tater tots soaking in grease you can see (un edible) and to top it off a plantain sticker on our plate? WATER ALSO TASTES LIKE IT'S GOT SOMETHING IN IT?! Service was nice but literally haven't had something so bad in YEARS. To top it off it's my wife's birthday breakfast. DO NOT GO HERE.

Ruby Sunshine is such a fun vibe. It's a Cajun brunch spot with great drinks. The servers are super nice. I stopped in recently for a yelp event and I was able to try a couple of things on the menu. I recommend the shrimp and grits and the beignets just melt in your mouth, so don't forget to grab some of those! I had a pretty nice peach Bellini as well. All in all I had a great time and really good food.

Such a great breakfast! The beignets were very light and not too dense. I ordered the very berry stuffed french toast which was fabulous! I will say that the cheesecake filling was a little bit too much, but other than that, it was perfect! My boyfriend really enjoyed the fried chicken and noted that it had a perfect amount of spiciness. Likewise, the juiciness of the chicken on mix and match was also very memorable, same with the sauce.

A friend recommended this place for brunch Saturday, and it was a fun experience. She got the smash burger (she said it was good), and I got the Eggs Blackstone the OG Benedict (pictured...yes, there were two, but I was hungry!). Service and ambiance were good and food delicious.

Iced coffee was refreshing I came back the next morning for another round. It was flavorful yet not sugary. It definitely gave me a kick and got addicted to it, except I'm only in the area for 4 days. Staff and manager were friendly yet professional. Although I was charged twice, the manager assured me they would fix it once the line was manageable. Somehow I trusted her word for it, just the manner with which she handled it was text book! Indeed, saw the overcharged taken care of by the next day. A must stop in downtown historic Charleston for sure! Great awesome pastries, sandwiches Parisian style made and clean refreshing breakfast beverages. This is the best patisserie option which actually lives up to its name, unlike those wannabe k ones!!!

I was charged for items that I never ordered or received. For example, I ordered a simple Americano and was charged for cold foam that was never requested and never provided. I strongly encourage everyone to review their receipt carefully before paying because my bill included charges that didn't match what I actually received. I also witnessed behavior toward customers that was completely unacceptable. One customer accidentally clogged the restroom, immediately informed the staff, and apologized. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the customer was mocked and humiliated. I personally heard the owner say, "Wow, the big fat guy took a dump," directly in reference to that customer. There is absolutely no excuse for treating someone with that level of disrespect. On another occasion, I witnessed customers being subjected to racist language. No business should ever make customers feel unwelcome or degraded. I also found it misleading that pastries were advertised as coming from local bakeries when that did not appear to reflect reality. Combined with the significant markup, it left me feeling that customers were being misled about what they were paying for. After everything I experienced--the questionable billing practices, the disrespectful treatment of customers, and the overall lack of professionalism--I cannot recommend this business. There are plenty of local coffee shops that value honesty, integrity, and treating people with basic human decency. I suggest supporting one of them instead like the Tracer waypoint coffee bar.
